If I did that here there would be a cross burning in my front yard. Probably a shot through a few windows too. Though I have noticed that there aren’t many Trump signs or flags this go ‘round. But there’s a lot of local level and state level signs for GOP candidates. It may be closer than in any year in GA history though, so I am not totally hopeless.

If I were a psychopath and very powerful, and got really sick, I’d make people come see me and savor their fear and anxiety as they risked serious illness, reflecting my power. I could also savor if they got sick or died, and savor making people degrade themselves to applaud it.

Same here, Mom. There is one person flying a Trump flag, but if I put something like that up, they’d probably roll my car over and burn my house.
Other than the Trump flag, no one else has political signs for anyone at all.

The media’s desperate for something, anything, that can be viewed as “controversial” in the hopes that they can revive the “horse race” narrative. The idea that this “question” will somehow swing enough votes in the last days of the race when much more substantial ones have failed to make a dent is all they care about.
re: #65 Anymouse 🌹🏡😷
Right now, with people scared of losing their homes, jobs, health insurance and lives, this is not at the top of most people’s immediate needs. It’s super damned important, but when you’re staring all the rest in the face, the SC just seems too far removed from daily reality for a lot of people. It’s being done to paint the Dems as sneaky and dishonest.
Cleaning Up Pete’s Mess Is Not Women’s Work (Goes to Seeing Red Nebraska, more at the link):
While we might shy away from a term like “women’s work,” we all know what the work of women entails: the unpaid labor of raising children and maintaining a household; the low-wages of nursing, teaching, and other care work; and the often-voluntary nature of community organizing, grassroots campaigns, and charity. Whether or not we call it such, we know what is women’s work (to clarify, “women’s work” is also performed by and expected of many transgender and nonbinary folks) based on the lack of social value and financial incentive we attach to it. In the year 2020, we can also recognize it based on its status as essential, which far too often means expendable.
Women are less likely to die from the covid-19 virus than men because they engage in safer behaviors, yet they are more frequently put at risk of exposure in their work. One in three jobs held by women has been designated as essential and over half of essential workers are women, including 77% of health care workers. The women in these jobs are disproportionately women of color, and it should come as no surprise that working conditions and pay decline for workers who are not white. It is also well known that people of color are more likely to die from covid-19, as the pandemic amplifies our existing structural inequities.

re: #71 Anymouse 🌹🏡😷
This brings up a point I was thinking of writing to Joe and Kamala about:
I had to leave the workforce 27 yrs ago because of late term pregnancy complications and then having a child with developmental issues, I’ve talked about it before here a lot. As a result, when it’s time for me to collect social security, I will be lucky to get around 450 dollars a month. My husband is already collecting disability, around 2400 a month, so I would most likely get that or a bit less if he passes before me. Not enough to live super well, but with budgeting and scaling back more than we have, me and the kid would survive. I could sell the house and maybe find something smaller and less maintenance intensive, etc.
But what about women who don’t have any husband in the picture? Daycare for a special needs kid is not cheap, it literally cost more than I made a week at my last job. So since hubby had the biggest paycheck, I stayed home and learned to be a speech therapist, occupational therapist, school advocate and whatever else was needed. And it cost me. A LOT. I’m 60 now, getting a job is next to impossible unless I start my own business of some kind which with no extra money ain’t happening.
I know I am not alone in this. How can a president and congress help fix this? Because the years pass quick, and certain circumstances remain the same, even if your child becomes an adult. I don’t think I could bear or survive being homeless again, it was hard enough when I was in high school and right after, spent close to three years on the street living a very unsafe and unstable existence. If what I did all these years was truly valued this would not even be a worry.
