An Unexpected Turn From Foo Fighters: “Shame Shame”

This is a departure from the now-familiar Foo Fighters sound, and I think it works really well. Sometimes a deliberate attempt to break out of a familiar style can feel forced and opportunistic, but not here.

Shame Shame

If you want to
I’ll make you feel something real just to bother you
Now I got you
Under my thumb like a drug I will smother you
I’ll be the one
Be the moon
Be the sun
Be the rain in your song
Go and put that record on
If you want to
I’ll be the one
Be the tongue that will swallow you
Shame, shame
Shame, shame

Another splinter under the skin
Another season of loneliness
I found a reason and buried it
Under a mountain of emptiness
Shame, shame
Shame, shame

Who, what, where, when
Just move along
Nothing wrong
Until we meet again
I’ll be the end
I’ll be the war at your door
Come and let me in
I’ll be the one
Be the moon
Be the sun
Be the rain in your song
Go and put that record on
If you want to
I’ll be the one be the tongue that will swallow you

Another splinter under the skin
Another season of loneliness
I found a reason and buried it
Under a mountain of emptiness
Shame, shame
Shame, shame

Another splinter under the skin
Another season of loneliness
I found a reason and buried it
Under a mountain of emptiness
Shame, shame
Shame, shame

Carrying over from last post, are there any laws on the books about what happens to Ex-Presidents who try to shake their secret service detail?

Because you know, in this case I bet those guys are gonna be pretty important for keeping Donald Trump from selling out our nation….

en.wikipedia.org.

Richard Nixon relinquished his Secret Service protection in 1985, the only president to do so.

If Donald Trump relinquishes his Secret Service protection, they really need to do a “but I insist” on his fat ass.

I’m sure there’s nothing specifically in the law about ex-presidents who are expected to turn traitor, because unwise assumptions about who can become president.

However, espionage alone can be a capital crime under Federal law, and the idea of Trump on trial for his life should he be charged with treachery of that kind is very appealing.

Based on the fact that Richard Nixon was evidently able to relinquished his Secret Service protection if Donald Trump tries to do the same we need to get Alphabet Soup agents watching him like a hawk.

Otherwise he can just have Secret Service “Bodyguards” (read minders) and that will neatly take care of keeping him under a miscroscope, but we need to vet the ever loving f**k out of those agents to make sure they’re not in Donny’s pocket/fellow travelers.

I don’t think he would be executed if convicted, but living the rest of his miserable life in ADX Florence is also very appealing.

One thing that helps is that the professional spooks have surely seen Trump and his cronies as major security risks from the very beginning.

So the amount of classified info he has received has probably been much less than normal for a US president. They were even told to write the PDBs in crayon on a 3 by 5 card because of Trump’s negligible attention span.

Isn’t it amazing how completely bifurcated their minds are?

Like, it’s always bad faith, but they can’t even see how the attack is a self-own. They’re so intent on “us good, them bad” that it just doesn’t connect up that what happened then is twenty times less than what’s happening now (so far).

But Kushner has been receiving a lot more than is usual for the *checks notes* son in law of a President.

I have a suspicion this is a plan to either nick a whole load more intelligence, to be used as a bargaining tool either with UAE or Russia, or possibly to be able to try to blackmail the next US government from prosecuting the Trump crime family as they’ll threaten to leak info that would get US spies killed.

Or they could just be going for a military coup.

I submit that Trump has committed at least 230,000+ murders and he doesn’t care. He’s not in awe of the crime; it doesn’t increase his net worth — he has no interest at all.

That’s just Covid. It doesn’t include the Puerto Ricans who didn’t get post-hurricane assistance, the troops lost in Yemen and Nigeria in poorly-planned unnecessary raids, the Mexicans and Guatemalans and Salvadorans killed in the places they got deported to, the people killed in mass shootings (or one at a time) by his followers…

My judgment of Trump’s awe of murder is based on his reverence of dictators and war criminals, and how his admiration for their brutal ways gets past what little remains of his filters these days (e.g., the disgusting comments on Tienanmen square). It’s also there in his poorly concealed desire to nuke something, anything.

Trump is fairly held responsible for many covid 19 deaths, but the thrill of the kill just wouldn’t be there for Trump with that, especially after the initial concentration in NYC faded away.

Or maybe they are going to make policy changes that Biden cannot easily reverse. What if Trump orders all forces out of certain nations — or maybe out of all nations? Is it possible to withdraw them so quickly? Think of him as being on the Ron Paul side of the military — i.e. no soldiers outside our borders — allowing our opponents free rein.

My knowledge of all the places America currently has troops is so bad I’m not sure where exactly we’d need to worry about, off the top of my head I’d say Iraq and Afghanistan, are there any other hot spots /danger zones I should be aware of?

But in regards to pulling our troops out quickly, somehow I doubt it.

Not blackmail. There’d be arrests.

Trump has no chance of leaving the country….as soon as he leaves he loses all levers of power.

But if Trump stays, and Kushner departs say…next week for some urgent business in UAE, and takes a few encrypted ssd drives with him, it would allow Trump to threaten that Kushner would dump the stuff if Trump was arrested.

That way he could try to stay in the US ‘fighting to have the votes counted/not counted’.

So the Electoral College votes and Biden gets a Majority of votes. Biden is now President — what role does Congress have at that point?

Congress is allowed to disagree with the electoral votes, but based on the article linked both houses need to vote to object for the votes not to count, and since democrats control the lower house, that’s not gonna happen. So this is more kabuki and time wasting.

Honestly, we all know it’s going to be a strictly partisan vote in both houses. The way American politics is nowadays, you vote for the man from your party, not the man who won or the man who would to the most good for America.

No, you can’t unring that bell. As crazy as the Republicans are, they’re not gonna vote it down by a majority in the Senate because if so that opens the door to the same tactic being used against them at a future time.

Besides as others have pointed out, the Electoral College voting happens exactly one day after the Georgia runnoff at which point Republicans may start finally locating their spines…

Morans will be the death of us all.

The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department revoked the event plan that a Lincoln concert venue needs to host larger shows after the venue failed to enforce social distancing Saturday night.

The estimated 500 concertgoers who attended the sold-out Sada Baby show at the Royal Grove Saturday should quarantine for 14 days, Health Department Director Pat Lopez said, calling the show a potential super-spreader event.

Images of dozens of maskless fans at the concert standing in front of the stage as the hip-hop artist performed spread online through social media and prompted complaints to the Health Department, which had worked with the venue before the concert.

On Facebook this week, the Royal Grove said that its COVID-19 precautions and mask requirements were overwhelmed by the energetic crowd and that the 22 staffers working the event couldn’t adequately enforce the health directives.

Russell Casper of Bovey, Minnesota, to his uncle Albert Davis in Des Moines. Shults and his son Bobby, who had acquired the picture and its frame in an Omaha-area antique shop, hope to locate Casper’s relatives in case they want to recover the card and letter.
