Colbert: The GOP Is Making a Hero of Kyle Rittenhouse

Politics • Views: 19,487

Only a complete moron (like Florida congressman Matt Gaetz) would celebrate the tragic loss of life in Kenosha by making a hero out of Kyle Rittenhouse. In booster shot news, CNN’s Dr. Jonathan Reiner argues that it’s time to move the goalposts on what it takes to be considered “fully vaccinated.” #Colbert #Comedy #Monologue

My wife left the TV on ABC, and so I heard a little bit of the intro:

Character 1: isn’t it sacrilegious to hatch a plot in chapel?

Character 2: it’s a nondenominational chapel.

Considering how the head floats separate from the store, i doubt he’s an employee now anyway.

I hope the defendants brought their checkbooks. Good to see them getting punitive damages.

according to wiki, these are the defendants:

The defendant for whom the case is named is Jason Kessler, a neo-Nazi activist who was a primary organizer of the Unite the Right rally. The lawsuit also names defendant Richard B. Spencer as a primary organizer.[29]

Defendants Christopher Cantwell and Michael Peinovich (known by the pseudonym Mike Enoch) are listed in the lawsuit as promoters of the event. The lawsuit also identifies The Daily Stormer as a promoter of the rally through its website and various “book clubs”; the lawsuit names Andrew Anglin and Robert “Azzmador” Ray as individuals responsible for The Daily Stormer, as well as the limited liability corporation, Moonbase Holdings.[29]

Several white supremacist groups, and various leaders and members of these groups, are listed as defendants: Vanguard America is included as a defendant due to the plaintiffs’ belief that defendant James Fields, the perpetrator of the Charlottesville car attack, was a member of the group. Other defendants are Identity Evropa, its founder Nathan Damigo, and member Elliot Kline (also known as Eli Mosley); the Traditionalist Worker Party and its leaders Matthew Heimbach and Matthew Parrott; the League of the South and leaders Michael Hill and Michael Tubbs; Fraternal Order of the Alt-Knights (a subgroup of the Proud Boys[36]) and leader Augustus Sol Invictus; the East Coast Knights of the Ku Klux Klan; the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan; the National Socialist Movement and its leader Jeff Schoep; and the loose group known as the Nationalist Front, led by Schoep, Heimbach, and Hill.[29]

Default judgments were entered against defendants Andrew Anglin; Moonbase Holdings, LLC; East Coast Knights of the Ku Klux Klan; Fraternal Order of the Alt-Knights; Augustus Sol Invictus; Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan; and the Nationalist Front. Robert “Azzmador” Ray is a fugitive, wanted on federal and local warrants.[34]

Pregnant librarian shot and killed in wild road rage encounter that she instigated: police

Sara Nicole Morales was fatally shot about 5 p.m. Saturday evening outside her Orange City home after she intentionally struck a motorcycle and then fled the scene, and the motorcyclist and a witness followed her home after trying to stop her at an intersection and calling police, reported WOFL-TV.

The 35-year-old Morales went inside her home to grab a gun, and she confronted 40-year-old Andrew Derr in the roadway outside — where the motorcyclist shot her multiple times.

Morales died a short time later at a nearby hospital, and police said she was about four or five months pregnant and is survived by an 11-year-old daughter and a fiancé.

Some people seem to feel indestructible while in a car, and she probably thought having a gun means that she gets her way, and was surprised when her victim defended himself.

I’m sitting in my doctors office parking lot. Young couple with a boy and a girl, under 10 or so. And a toddler who is just staring.
Getting Covid tests. The little girl was first. Nurse was explaining it and the little girl scrunched up and started crying. Nurse went around to talk to mom and figured they would do the boy first then because he’s a boy.
Opened the Q tip bag and there he goes.
Dad bucks him up. Kid starts nodding. Wipes the tears.
Big Boy!
Now mom is holding the girl who now is basically in a headlock.
Boy leans in.
Girl relaxes.
DONE!
ICE CREAM FOR ALL!
I remember them days.
It was like a small life story right next to my car.

I’ve deep fried a couple of birds. And if you like fried meat it is quite tasty. The downside is that fried turkey dries out really fast and the leftovers are worthless for sandwiches the next day.

Best turkey I have made was deboned and butterflied and I cooked it on the grill. 9lb turkey in about 40-45 minutes. Super moist, and because the breast was deboned the whole thing sliced beautifully and was easy to platter and present.

I’d ordered a couple of cases of Science Diet kitten food when they became available again on Amazon, but Amazon just pretended to deliver the order last weekend without actually delivering, and they can only refund the order rather than replacing it.

Real deliveries come with a photo of the delivery. This was simply marked as delivered, maybe after the delivery person kept it for themselves, so I’m pretty annoyed that Amazon allows that. They should at least require that the thief post a photo of the delivery before taking it.

This happened to someone here 7 or 8 years ago. Tragic. The wheel came off a semi, bounced, and smashed a car driven by a 40-something woman…. I just looked it up: first it hit a police cruiser going northbound, then bounced back into southbound lanes and hit an SUV killing the driver.

Saw that a few times. Saw duals on fire on the rig going past me. I mean in flames. No radio. No response.
Had a single truck tire pass me outside DC one night.
It passed me at over 60 MPH.
It thankfully left the road into the bush.
Trucks used to have what was called Mack wheels. They had 6 lugs into clamps that held a steel ring to hold the rim to the axle. If you didn’t check your lugs, they could loosen and if they failed completely you put not only the wheel and tire into traffic but a steel ring too. Woman was killed close by me when the steel ring hit her head on one night. Never saw it. Never found the truck. They use Budd wheels now which use 10 lugs, no clamps and no steel ring.

He’s been asking for reduced sentence. Watch him try to negotiate time off for cooperation…or claim his life will be at risk if he goes back to jail after testifying (I’m okay with that, btw).

Jury awards $25M in damages for Unite the Right violence

The verdict, though mixed, is a rebuke to the white nationalist movement, particularly for the two dozen individuals and organizations who were accused in a federal lawsuit of orchestrating violence against African Americans, Jews and others in a meticulously planned conspiracy.

White nationalist leader Richard Spencer vowed to appeal, saying the “entire theory of that verdict is fundamentally flawed.”

He said plaintiffs’ attorneys made it clear before the trial that they wanted to use the case to bankrupt him and other defendants.

“It was activism by means of lawsuits, and that is absolutely outrageous,” he said. “I’m doing fine right now because I had kind of accepted in my heart the worst that could happen. I had hope, of course, but I’m not terribly surprised or crestfallen.”

I can understand that, but as long as your turkey is properly thawed and you measure the oil BEFORE lighting it and heating it up, there’s nothing to worry about.

Don’t be my cousin and fry the turkey in the garage. Why yes, that Thanksgiving was one of the handful of days in Phoenix when it rained. He was determined to have his damned fried turkey and set up the fryer in the garage with the garage door open. There was an issue with sparking into the rafters as the turkey was lowered into the oil and a small fire occurred. The fire was put out and we had fried turkey.

A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll finds that 74% of Americans say their lives have returned to “normal” since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

which explains why this is happening:

“The latest U.S. Covid-19 wave is taking its toll on some states’ intensive-care units, with several parts of the country seeing outbreaks that are as bad as ever,” Bloomberg reports.

“In 15 states, patients with confirmed or suspected Covid are taking up more ICU beds than a year earlier... Colorado, Minnesota and Michigan have 41%, 37% and 34% of ICU beds occupied by Covid-19 patients, respectively, the data show.”

Isn’t it that Texas won’t allow a candidate to run for more than one office at a time in a general election? IOW, Gohmert doesn’t have to immediately resign to run for AG, but can’t be on the ballot for Congress for reelection?

So the good news is that the House will finally be rid of Louie Gohmert: the bad news is that the State of Texas is likely to be saddled with him as AG…..

maybe he could do what Rand Paul did in Kentucky: to stay on the ballot to run for re-election to the Senate, he convinced the Kentucky GOP to hold a separate caucus for the Presidential nomination, since Kentucky election law says you can’t be on two different places on the ballot.

Oh, and far as I know, Rand never paid the costs for that caucus, even though that was part of the agreement.

7 on the Mohs scale!

“…Diorite is an extremely hard rock, making it difficult to carve and work with. It is so hard that ancient civilizations (such as Ancient Egypt) used diorite balls to work granite. Its hardness, however, also allows it to be worked finely and take a high polish, and to provide a durable finished work. Thus, major works in diorite tend to be important.

One comparatively frequent use of diorite was for inscription, as it is easier to carve in relief than in three-dimensional statuary. Perhaps the most famous diorite work extant is the Code of Hammurabi, inscribed upon a 2 metre (7 ft) pillar of black diorite. The original can be seen today in Paris’ Musée de Louvre[2]. A few large statues remain, including several statues of King Khafre in the Egyptian Museum. The use of diorite in art was most important among very early Middle Eastern civilizations such as Ancient Egypt, Babylonia, Assyria and Sumer. It was so valued in early times that the first great Mesopotamian empire — the Empire of Sargon of Akkad — listed the taking of diorite as a purpose of military expeditions.”
