Turkish PM Gets Hero’s Welcome in Istanbul for Jew-Hatred

World • Views: 5,962

For his hateful outburst at Shimon Peres at the World Economic Forum, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan was given a hero’s welcome on his return to Istanbul.

Turkey is slipping back into the pre-Ataturk Dark Ages, with an Islamist prime minister at the helm.

UPDATE at 1/30/09 10:34:43 am:

Meanwhile, Shimon Peres and Tayyip Erdogan are friends again.

Despite his public spat with Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the World Economic Forum over the Gaza fighting, President Shimon Peres said Friday that his relationship with the Turkish prime minister had always been good and remained so.

Speaking to reporters in Davos, Peres said Turkey was an ally and an important country, both in the Middle East and the World. Peres said he spoke to Erdogan after the row in which the Turkish prime minister stormed off the stage.

“I called him up and said, ‘I do not see the matter as personal,’” Peres said. “My respect for him didn’t change. We had an exchange of views - and the views are views.”

Well, now I suppose the question becomes: Do we kick Turkey out of NATO? If they are going Islamist, we cannot let them be part of an organization formed to defend freedom.

And they say America is the country of racism and intolerance.

The people who say that are mostly using that idea as a cover for their own offenses, as a way to immobilize us. Too often it works, at least for a while, and innocents pay the price. We should listen to dirtbags like Erdogan. Let them seeth, we know we are right.

I saw this. What a turd. Ataturk would probably rip this guy's nuts off. Of course, we cannot omit the fact that this idiot was meeting with HAMAS just before the IDF offensive in December.

I haven't seen any response by the EU...which is a shame b/c Turkey is petitioning for entry. Hopefully SOMEONE in Europe will wake up and see this impending threat before it's too late.

So let's see, we have a global economic crisis that is highly unlikely to get better anytime soon, and an ideology with hate as a cornerstone seemingly on the move, slowly perhaps, but relentlessly. Historical parallels to the 1930's? I'm beginning to think so. And the 1930's didn't end well.

I wish Peres hadn't called Erdogan:

Peres, Erdogan make up after brouhaha
By Ron Kampeas · January 30, 2009

(JTA) -- Israeli President Shimon Peres and Turkish Prime Minister Recip Erdogan spoke on the phone after a rancorous public falling-out.

"I am very sorry for what happened and friends could sometimes have an argument between themselves," Peres told Erdogan during the telephone conversation, according to Ha'aretz. "I have always had a great respect for the Republic of Turkey and you as the prime minister. I consider myself as a friend of Turkey and Premier Erdogan."

The two leaders fell out Thursday during a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Erdogan had made the case that Israel and the international community must bring Hamas into negotiations because the group won legislative elections and controls the Gaza Strip. he also criticized Israel's actions during the Gaza Strip war.

Peres delivered an emotional reply, accusing Erdogan of exaggerating Israel's fault in its war with Hamas.

"Hamas participated in the elections, but they have a very unique idea about democracy," Peres said. "They think a democracy is a story of one day in four years. You go through the elections. After the elections, you can start to shoot and kill and threaten. Finished. Democracy is not a matter of elections. It is a civilization."

Erdogan wanted to reply, but David Ignatius, the Washington Post columnist moderating the discussion, cut him short, saying the session was over.

Erdogan accused Israel of "barbarianism," gathered his papers and left the hall.

Upon returning to Turkey, where he faces elections, Erdogan said his departure was a matter of Turkish "esteem."

For a short while I thought the US should leave NATO.

At this point I think it would be enough to pull our forces out of NATO countries and make them start having to sacrifice for their own defense. That would force many to recalibrate their rhetoric back to a pro-western value system.

Actually, here's something useful for the UN to do, for a change: raise money to move the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque to Jordan. Or Damascus. Or Medina. Anyway, somewhere else.

If the UN could raise the money to move the statues of Abu Simbel--and the entire temple cut into the rocks there--higher up the hills so that they would not be inundated by the Aswan Dam (which, IIRC, the UN also had a hand in funding and building), then it can advance the cause of world peace by relocating these structures.

Which makes me think of an important, new theology question:

Actually, the Ottoman Dynasty lasted 723 years (starting in 1299), but the Ottomon Caliphate didn't really become official until the early 1500s.

I would. It is just another example of islam stealing holy places of other established religions (i.e. Istanbul was once Christian Constantinople):

History of the Dome of the Rock

The sacred rock over which the Dome of the Rock is built was considered holy before the arrival of Islam. Jews believed, and still believe, the rock to be the very place where Abraham prepared to sacrifice Isaac (an event which Muslims place in Mecca). In addition, the Dome of the Rock (or the adjacent Dome of the Chain) is believed by many to stand directly over the site of the Holy of Holies of both Solomon's Temple and Herod's Temple.

Actually, the Ottoman's assumed the title of Caliph after they conquered Egypt under Sultan Salim I. At the time, the caliph had become a court official in the Egyptian Mamluke Sultan's court. After the Ottoman conquest, the last such caliph abdicated in favor of Sultan Salim, who was also the only Sultan to make the Haji, the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.

A vulnerable Muslim convert who was persuaded online by shadowy Pakistan-based extremists into trying to carry out a suicide bomb attack on a busy restaurant was jailed for a minimum of 18-years today.

Nicky Reilly, 22, who has Asperger's syndrome and a mental age of 10, was described as the “least cunning” person ever to have been charged with terrorism.

Me And Barack Hussein

Busted flat in the USA
Looking for a job
Feeling near as worn out as my shoes

Barack passed a bailout bill
With millions for ACORN
Then I knew I’d get screwed

I took my last dollar
Out of my dirty empty wallet
And was feeling sad when Barack said he’d help

With them Democrats raisin’ taxes
And Barack passing gas
They helped the bank that foreclosed my home

Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose
And Barack says this land is free
Freedom seemed easier before he came to town
And I had some money to spend on me.

Need some lyrics - "Que Sharia Sharia"

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty, will I be rich
Here's what she said to me.

Que Sharia, Sharia
Do whatever the Imam says
The future's not ours, you see
Que Sharia Sharia
Now put on your Burka, please

When I was young, I fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows, day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said.

Que Sharia Sharia
Whatever I say, you do
The future's not yours, it's mine
Que Sharia Sharia
Till I say "I divorce thee" thrice

Bishop who denied Holocaust apologizes to pope

VATICAN CITY (AP) - A bishop recently rehabilitated by Pope Benedict XVI expressed regret Friday to the pontiff for the "distress and problems" he caused by denying the Holocaust.

In a letter to the Vatican, Bishop Richard Williamson, who recently denied in a TV interview that 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust, called his remarks "imprudent."

The letter was posted on Williamson's personal blog and addressed to Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos, who has been dealing with the rehabilitation of Williamson and other renegade bishops who had been excommunicated.

The Holocaust denial had outraged Jewish groups and many others. It was not immediately clear if Williamson's letter, which contained no apology for the content of his remarks, would ease that anger.

"Amidst this tremendous media storm stirred up by imprudent remarks of mine on Swedish television, I beg of you to accept, only as is properly respectful, my sincere regrets for having caused to yourself and to the Holy Father so much unnecessary distress and problems," Williamson wrote.

He's not admitting he's wrong, just admitting he spoke words the Vatican didn't want to hear.

This is no apology.

Moratinos assured Livni that his government would amend the authority of the Spanish courts to prevent such probes from being launched in the future.
Livni told Moratinos that this was "very important news for the Israeli public."
Moratinos stressed that any amendments would not be made in time for the Shehadeh case, but said that his office would work to annul the investigation, Army Radio reported on Friday afternoon.

Maybe the thing to do is rename Holocaust Remembrance Day to Holocaust Forgetfulness Day, or Holocaust Denial Day.

That way, we can trick these folks into telling all about it by declaring what "didn't" happen:

"There were no gas chambers! The Nazis didn't manage to gas millions with an implacable industrial efficiency never seen before or since! All of these death rosters--see them, here?--are fake! The mounds of shoes, and hair, and eyeglass (see these pictures?)--fake! All these records of gold teeth extracted from dead millions? Fake! Millions were never ghettoized--see these pictures? They're all false! All of these emaciated survivors--look, see these pictures?--are merely faked!"

You know, I want to up ding this but there was a part of me that almost got scared - like this could really happen.
I'm updinging anyway and praying that it stays a farce.

You know your side is getting close to victory when your leadership is hiding in holes because they know they'll get knocked off if they show up anywhere with a clear field of fire.

The sad thing is that by simply surviving until after Israel quit fighting (again) they actually are winniing a victory of sorts.

Hamas's "victory" can be compared to the Black Knight in a Monty Python movie: "After King Arthur cuts off both of the knight's arms and legs, he tells him, 'All right, we'll call it a draw.'"

Unlike Bush's 'Google Bomb,' Google Quickly Defuses Obama's

It took four years for Google to address the "Google bomb" that was lobbed at former President Bush.

But it took the Internet behemoth only a few days to defuse the same attack on President Obama.

Four years versus a few days ... Some Googlers are asking why.

In 2003, President Bush's detractors successfully gamed the Google search engine by arranging to have countless Web sites link the words "miserable failure" to Bush's official biography on the White House Web site.

[snip]

Unfortunately for Obama, "miserable failure" reverted back to his bio when he moved into the White House.

top four dirty jokes for 2009

Fourth Place:

A man bumps into a woman in a hotel lobby and as he does,

his elbow goes into her breast.

They are both quite startled.

The man turns to her and says, 'Ma'am, if your heart is as soft as your
breast,

I know you'll forgive me.'

She replies, 'If your penis is as hard as your elbow, I'm in room 221.'

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Third Place :

One night, as a couple lays down for bed, the husband starts rubbing his
wife's arm.

The wife turns over and says 'I'm sorry honey, I've got a gynecologist
appointment tomorrow and I want to stay fresh.'

The husband, rejected, turns over.

A few minutes later, he rolls back over and taps his wife again.

'Do you have a dentist appointment tomorrow too?'

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Runner Up:

Bill worked in a pickle factory.

He had been employed there for a number of years when he came home one
day

to confess to his wife that he had a terrible compulsion.

He had an urge to stick his penis into the pickle slicer.

His wife suggested that he should see a sex therapist to talk about it,
but Bill said he would be too embarrassed. He vowed to overcome the
compulsion on his own.

One day a few weeks later, Bill came home and his wife could see at once
that something was seriously wrong.

'What's wrong, Bill?' she asked.

'Do you remember that I told you how I had this tremendous urge to put
my penis into the pickle slicer?'

'Oh, Bill, you didn't' she exclaimed..

'Yes, I did.' he replied.

'My God, Bill, wh at happened?'

'I got fired.'

'No, Bill. I mean, what happened with the pickle slicer?'

'Oh...she got fired too.'

-------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- --

Winner:

A couple had been married for 50 years.

They were sitting at the breakfast table one morning when the wife says,

'I know,' the old man said. 'We were probably sitting here naked

'Well,' Granny snickered. 'Let's relive some old times.'

Where upon, the two stripped to the buff and sat down at the table.

'You know, honey,' the little old lady breathlessly replied, 'My nipples

'I wouldn't be surprised,' replied Gramps. 'One's in your coffee

That's what the terrorist, who our hero had lined up in his sights, did, not the hero. I could have phrased that better. The liberal-appeaser President ordered the strike aborted, & the terrorist then went on to kill a whole lot of Americans. That's why our hero goes off the grid, to fight terrorists without restraint.

healthy eating = only halal food; no more haraam pork and cheeseburgers

THE RULES OF RURAL PENNSYLVANIA ARE AS FOLLOWS:
LISTEN UP CITY SLICKERS!

1. PULL YOUR DROOPY PANTS UP. YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT.

2. TURN YOUR CAP RIGHT, YOUR HEAD ISN'T CROOKED.

3. LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT; IT'S CALLED A 'DIRT ROAD.' NO MATTER HOW SLOW YOU DRIVE, YOU'RE GOING TO GET DUST ON YOUR LEXUS. DRIVE IT OR GET OUT OF THE WAY.

4. THEY ARE CATTLE. THEY'RE LIVE STEAKS. THAT'S WHY THEY SMELL FUNNY TO YOU, GET OVER IT. DON'T LIKE IT? I-80 GOES EAST AND WEST, I-81 GOES NORTH AND SOUTH. PICK ONE.

5. SO YOU HAVE A $60,000 CAR. WE'RE IMPRESSED. WE HAVE $150,000 CORN PICKERS AND HAY BALERS THAT ARE DRIVEN ONLY 3 WEEKS A YEAR.

6. SO EVERY PERSON IN RURAL PENNSYLVANIA WAVES. WE THINK OF IT AS BEING FRIENDLY. TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT.

7. IF THAT CELL PHONE RINGS WHILE AN 8-POINT BUCK AND 3 DOES ARE COMING IN, WE WILL SHOOT IT OUT OF YOUR HAND. YOU BETTER HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE IT UP TO YOUR EAR AT THE TIME.

8. YEAH, WE EAT TATERS & GRAVY, BEANS & CORNBREAD. WE FRY OUR FISH AFTER 'CATCH IN' 'EM'. YOU REALLY WANT SUSHI & CAVIAR? IT'S AVAILABLE AT THE CORNER BAIT SHOP.

9. THE 'OPENER' REFERS TO THE FIRST DAY OF DEER SEASON. IT'S A RELIGIOUS HOLIDAY HELD ON THE MONDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING.

10. WE OPEN DOORS FOR WOMEN. THAT IS APPLIED TO ALL WOMEN, REGARDLESS OF AGE.

11. NO, THERE'S NO 'VEGETARIAN SPECIAL' ON THE MENU. ORDER STEAK. OR YOU CAN ORDER THE CHEF'S SALAD AND PICK OFF THE 2 POUNDS OF HAM & TURKEY.

12. WHEN WE FILL OUT A TABLE, THERE ARE THREE MAIN DISHES: MEATS (INCLUDES FISH), VEGETABLES, AND BREADS. WE USE FOUR SPICES: SALT, PEPPER, HOT SAUCE AND KETCHUP. OH, YEAH...WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU FOLKS IN JERSEY CALL THAT STUFF YOU EAT...IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!

13. YOU BRING 'COKE' INTO MY HOUSE, IT BETTER BE BROWN, WET AND SERVED OVER ICE.

14. YOU BRING 'MARY JANE' INTO MY HOUSE, SHE BETTER BE CUTE, KNOW HOW TO SHOOT, AND HAVE LONG HAIR.

15. COLLEGE AND HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IS AS IMPORTANT HERE AS THE EAGLES AND THE STEELERS, AND A DANG SITE MORE FUN TO WATCH.

16. YEAH, WE HAVE GOLF COURSES. BUT DON'T HIT THE WATER HAZARDS---IT SPOOKS THE FISH.

17. COLLEGES? WE HAVE THEM ALL OVER. WE HAVE STATE UNIVERSITIES, COMMUNITY COLLEGES, AND VO-TECHS. THEY COME OUTTA THERE WITH AN EDUCATION PLUS A LOVE FOR GOD AND COUNTRY, AND THEY STILL WAVE AT EVERYBODY WHEN THEY COME FOR THE HOLIDAYS.

18. WE HAVE A WHOLE TON OF FOLKS IN THE ARMY, NAVY, AIR FORCE, AND MARINES. SO DON'T MESS WITH US. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL GET WHIPPED BY THE BEST.

19. TURN DOWN THAT BLASTED CAR STEREO! THAT THUMPITY-THUMP CRAP AIN'T MUSIC, ANYWAY. WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT ANYMORE THAN WE WANT TO SEE YOUR BOXERS. REFER BACK TO #1.

20. 4 INCHES ISN'T A BLIZZARD-IT'S A FLURRY. DRIVE LIKE YOU GOT SOME SENSE IN IT, AND DON'T TAKE ALL OUR BREAD, MILK, AND TOILET PAPER FROM THE GROCERY STORES. THIS AIN'T ALASKA, WORST CASE YOU MAY HAVE TO LIVE A WHOLE DAY WITHOUT CROISSANTS. THE PICKUPS WITH SNOW BLADES WILL HAVE YOU OUT THE NEXT DAY.

Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and said,

336 Ayatollah Ghilmeini  Fri, Jan 30, 2009 11:49:11am

When your head is filled with shit, your words can only come out brown.

The Koranic World is a perfect castle of thought. They argue that since many more Palestinians died in the war, Israel had no right to defend itself. While the logical fallacy of this might be obvious to you or I, the point is Islamist thinking in a nutshell- Islam is is right even when its wrong. The rockets were crude so it was OK for 250,000 Israelis to have to live with them. Since Israel prevented weapons from being shipped en masse to Hamas, therefore Gaza was under siege on Gaza. And so on ad nauseum.

Don't let facts get in the way of a little Islam. Don't let truth get in the way of Jihad. Don't let anything get in the way of Jihad.

They have created a wonderful system of language and history to encapsulate their grievance theater masking as an assault on western civilization. Murderous attacks on Jewish civilians are "Resistance." Arab complicity in Hitler's crimes are forgotten and twisted so that it is Israel accused of creating a "Holocaust" and committing "Genocide." The fact western military experts called Israel's operation a casebook example of waging war as humanely as ever done or that unlike the annihilated WWII Jewish populations, nearly 100% of Gazans survived their "holocaust" are meaningless in the eyes of the Islamists.

Shimon Peres could not have been more right or more clear. Something is true or it is not.

When Hamas called off its false truce in December, it did not matter if Islamists the world over felt the previous six months was the greatest peace since the US and Canada settled their differences. When long range rockets started crashing down in Ashkelon, 90% and more of Israelis supported a war to stop the rockets and sent their children to possibly die to see it through. Islamists are free to live in their world where they think its some kind of "benefit" of their enlightened thinking and leadership to have their rockets go over an international border. However, when their world starts blowing up Jewish reality, Jews are forced to act in their reality without regard to Islamist reality or feelings. Israel pulled out out of Sinai, Israel pulled out of Lebanon and Gaza. Israel recognizes the PA and pretty much lets the PA govern the West Bank- the only restrictions imposed are the result of security requirements.

So I am glad that everyone is so proud of Mr. Erdogan and think he did his people proud in Davos. The Gaza war proved that democracies and people living in the other world have red lines. When those in the other world think there is something to fight about, if you are the cause of their ire, look out. No one in Israel cares if Mr. Erdogan thinks Israel was wrong. If Egypt and the Saudis blamed Hamas, not Israel for the war, you can be sure that Israel was in her rights. If Israel had just carpet-bombed Gaza because they felt like it and caused 50,000 dead (just 1 air strike without care to casualties would do just that) all of us would have joined the Arab leaders in calling for justice.

In making any judgment, everything always boils down to intentions. In our reality, if you screw up on the job and make an honest mistake, the boss will probably forgive you, if you were firing a gun to defend yourself against a robber, the prosecutor is more likely to charge the robber than you for murder. If Israel intended war crimes, she would have committed them; one guy with 1 tank could kill hundreds of people in a matter of an hour. Hamas' rockets were intended as war crimes so Erdogan's sin is the Islamists strong-suit: with these people intentions don't matter one bit. Our sin is being not Islamic and the punishment is whatever they can get away with inflict on us. If they can't make the facts fit the reality they invent them or twist them until they have something reflective of Islamic reality and its burning desire to make their morality and way of thinking the new global standard.

This war of words and guns has only just begun.

re: #293 buzzsawmonkey

Too true.

The one guard against it--to a point--is the obsessions of the deniers. Remember the video from a few days ago, of that Egyptian imam who was showing camp-survivor footage and lying about it? His pornographic lust for the scenes of depravity in that footage compels him to show them, and he thus keeps the knowledge alive.

The deniers, because they are driven to assert what they know to be a lie, end up having to teach what they deny because if nobody knows about it, they can't lie about it--and lying about it is what they want to do.

So, yes, I was being wry and sardonic about keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive by changing Remembrance Day to Denial Day--but the truth is that the deniers will create Remembrance Day by their denial.

The Shoah Database of Yad Vashem has to date documented over 3 million of the 6 million Jewish holocaust victims.
The deniers can go fuck themselves.

Best analogy I've ever heard was from Mark Levin (The Great One). He likened liberal-socialists to locusts who devour all the natural resources of an area and then move on to destroy the next lush habitation. Very apt in my opinion!

A locust ravaged habitat eventually recovers. A plagued killed host doesn't. If O gets to achieve his visions of socialism I doubt America will recover.

No, I agree with KI more. It is 1932-33 all over again. Look at who was just elected president. BHO is an FDR wannabe. Now, that said, it could be 1939 much faster than it was last time around.

The difference is events elsewhere are much further along than in 1932. Hitler was little threat in 1933 and a big one by 1939. The Iranian bomb threat is perhaps this year.

I vote yes. But since Obama in now the CIC, that means it's just gonna be you and me and who ever else we can scrap together. I'm still in.

Actually, I could see North Korea pushing in such a way that Obama could not worm his way out of it. We might have to fight, whatever he might want. Though that might be a good thing for him. It would estrange him from the moonbats, and that distance might allow him to learn the truth about the world. I wouldn't want that to require a war, I don't want the war anyway, but I try to find silver linings where I can. But I'm from Chicago, so I kick back half the silver and spend the rest.

Turks have always been...odd. The description of some of their practices in Lawrence's Seven Pilars of Wisdom was enough to make me want to stay away. If they slip back into full Islamist mode with their predilictions, they will be even less of an ally than they currently are.

I know nothing of Turkey but just wanted to say that Turkish names always appear to be English names written backwards. Just an observation with nothing pejorative meant.

That said, Mr Tayyip Erdogan's behavior and his justification for it seems to indicate that he is no leader (setting an example of civil behavior) but instead the usual scaredy cat behavior afraid of offending the head chopper/assassins. cult. What a horrid belief system.

On 8% margin. It's the volume not the price or margin. Also look up how it breaks out, Exxon is an energy service company they make most of that overseas providing energy services.

My industry thinks it sucks if we get less than 30% margin. A company has a duty to make a profit. The shareholders expect a return on investment, the employees expect the company to continue to provide jobs. Profit ensures the company survives into the future and continues a return on investment, continued employment.

Won't work, the reason the Mosque was there is that according to Islamic Tradition, Mohammad was taken bodily into heaven from that spot. The reason the Jewish Temple was there is that according to Jewish Tradition, that is the spot where Abraham attempted to sacrifice his son (Isaac in Jewish/Christian tradition, Ishmael in Islamic tradition). Also according to an older belief, both that spot is the spot from which God began to create land.

The stones on the spot are not terribly important, but the ground is...

401 Steffan  Fri, Jan 30, 2009 5:56:51pm

James Taranto thinks that Erdogan may have taken Turkey's prospective EU membership behind the barn and shot it in the back of the head.

One obvious point is that Turkey is hardly in a position to criticize Israel for responding firmly to terrorist attacks. Ankara frequently does the same thing, as exemplified by this December 2007 report in London's Daily Telegraph:

Turkey has launched its heaviest air strikes in years on positions in northern Iraq that it claims were occupied by its enemies from the Kurdish Workers' Party, the PKK.

After a series of bloody attacks by the PKK against the army in the south-east of Turkey, Ankara sent its warplanes to attack targets in the Qandil mountains of northern Iraq yesterday.

The PKK said seven people, including two civilians, died in the strikes. In a statement on its website, it said the attacks wounded "many civilians, among them women and children."

A less obvious point is that Erdogan might have killed whatever chance his country had of becoming a member of the European Union. In this regard, the substance of his remarks are not the problem; anti-Israel and anti-Semitic views are quite common in polite European society. But the key word there is polite. Inviting Turkey into the EU after Erdogan's outburst would be like asking Jerry Springer to guest-host for Bill Moyers.

Let's not forget the Armenians, either. They've held a grudge against the Turks since 1915. Worse, some of the perpetrators of the Armenian genocide were welcomed as part of Ataturk's new regime.

I don't see Erdogan even acknowledging that the Armenians just might have a case.
