Onion: New Initiative by US Bigots

Humor • Views: 1,777

The Onion reports on an initiative among the nation’s bigots to develop new state of the art slurs to keep pace with rising numbers of multi-racial births.

WASHINGTON—A coalition of the nation’s most fervent bigots convened in Washington Monday to address growing concerns that the production of hateful new racial slurs has failed to keep pace with the rise in mixed-race births.

According to representatives from the American Racists and Bigots Council (ARBC), the growing number of children born to parents of different ethnicities has posed a real challenge to the nation’s hate-speech developers—a challenge they say threatens their way of life.

“The world is changing, and we, the hateful and ignorant of America, need to change with it,” ARBC chairman Tom Branson said at a rally Monday. “The time has come for our ugly, intolerant rhetoric to step into the 21st century. Our disgusting, dehumanizing slurs simply must reflect the terrifying new global society we now live in.”

Added Branson, “In order to continue going backward, we first have to move forward.”

According to statistics provided by the coalition, a rise in the birthrate of mixed-race Americans has left millions of confused racists with absolutely nothing prejudiced to say when confronted by a person of indeterminate or complex background. What frightens the coalition most is data suggesting that by 2015, ignorant bigots everywhere could be powerless when it comes to reducing mixed-raced individuals to profoundly uninformed cultural stereotypes.

Heh.

For example, whenever I see a picture of Korean-American Moon Bloodgood, I call her a slant-eyed tree-toad. None of my friends and followers will ever look upon her with lust again.”

But she’s Irish and Korean. Wouldn’t RSM and his Kameraden come up with something like “Mook” as a slur for that?

And IMO no male (or bi/lesbian female) can see her and not look upon her with lustful eyes. It’s just not possible. She nudged Priyanka Chopra out of my #1 drool spot.

Why not a catch-all term for anyone who isn’t white? “Foreigner” is losing its edge, especially now that most people of non-whiteness are in fact born here. Might I suggest “mugwump”? It’s catchy and kind of sounds gross and hasn’t been used for anything in over a hundred years.

It is amazing that they could not find a conservative who was “a perfect fit for John King, USA, because not only is he an agenda-setter whose words are closely watched in Washington, but as a person who still lives in small-town America, Erick is in touch with the very people John hopes to reach,”. Of course this guy who is in touch with the people John wants to reach wrote this:

“Is Obama Shagging Hookers Behind the Media’s Back?

I assume not. I assume that Obama’s marxist harpy wife would go Lorena Bobbit on him should he even think about it, but I ask the question to make one simple point: Barack Obama, like Elliott Spitzer, is a creation of the liberal media and, as a result, could be a serial killing transvestite and the media would turn a blind eye.”

Naw, that’s a natural reaction. Giving personal information to anyone automatically creeps people out, that’s why Populist paranoia pundits like Beck and Bachmann try to marshall those fears. Same reason bigots try to marshall the natural xenophobia we have from our social evolution. It takes reason to overcome both paranoias.

I don’t think I will ever understand haters, stalkers and bigots! In my mind we are ALL human no mater what color, race or religion and we are entitled to our own opinions. I enjoy watching everyone here express themselves and a lot of times I agree, and a lot of time I disagree. Seems to me we need to be raising our little ones together and make sure they all understand each others differences and learn to appreciate them for WHO they are, not WHAT they are. I know its been tried, but I don’t think those involved tried hard enough. I am forever the eternal optimist.

re: #26 nonsense

Why not a catch-all term for anyone who isn’t white? “Foreigner” is losing its edge, especially now that most people of non-whiteness are in fact born here. Might I suggest “mugwump”? It’s catchy and kind of sounds gross and hasn’t been used for anything in over a hundred years.

Mugwumps, high jumps, low slumps, big bumps
Don’t you work as hard as you play?
Make up, break up, everything is shake up
Guess it had to be that way
Sebastian and Zal formed the Spoonful
Michelle, John, and Denny, gettin’ very tuneful
McGuinn and McGuire just a-catchin’ fire in L.A.
You know where that’s at
And everybody’s gettin’ fat except Mama Cass

This is all starting to remind me of that South Park episode “The Red Badge of Gayness”, where Cartman hijacks a civil war re-enactment, gets the participants on the confederate side drunk, and goads them into starting a real war: “This time the south will be victorious”.

Ha!

Yeah, racism is a little harder when some people actually have to draw pie charts to show where their ancestors were born.

I had a student a couple of years ago who, when asked her ethnicity, would explain that she was African, Cherokee, English, Irish, Scots, French and German.

I said, “So basically, the first three hundred years or so of America?”

She said “Yes. My mom says I should marry a guy who’s half Vietnamese and half Latino.”

I wonder if Vietnamese are upset because the census form offers questions in English and Spanish only.

Ironically, I’ve been sitting here cutting out paddle shapes from posterboard to make a prop for the young women in our ward, who are going leprechaun hunting Wednesday night (it’s a camp fundraiser).*

I’m combining cellophane and posterboard to make rainbow-viewers for the girls to analyze clues.

My point is:
Bigots will never figure it all out until they learn how to view life through rainbow-viewers.

There’s a terrific cartoon that appeared in the Seattle Whatever a few years ago.

The background was futuristic.
Some girl was facing her parents, and Mom was saying, “Why do you have to date a Chinese-Cuban-Russian Episcopalian? Why can’t you find some nice Swedish-African-Irish-Italian Jewish boy like your father?”

Or something like that.

Good for that type of troll perhaps? (Bomb-throwing tantrum phylum)

Which is usually effective enough in many places. A more subtle one would not draw the negativity as easily since the baiting would take longer and not be as obvious in terms of insults being tossed. In fact, a truly good troll would be appreciated for his artistry when you realize how well you’ve been taken in.

You should bookmark the South Park website, where all episodes are available to watch, and check them out when you have a spare moment. I have a feeling it will grow on you. (IMO the best stuff is from season 2 onwards)

The hunters are asking for $5 a visit donation, to defray expenses, which mostly consist of the “pot of gold” (cookies) that they will find after a 5-minute search.

I am making sure that each group of girls that goes out has at least one spazz to make things fun, and I am putting the oldest, most responsible girl on the route that has the Down’s syndrome woman and the two homes with Austistic kids.

Sounds well planned. Each group have a camera along to take pictures as they proceed? Or at least to have group shots for the eventual Facebook page? :)

I think my Wednesday night will be spent avoiding the nearby bar district here in Philly. Too many folk about who take to overindulging and then using that as an excuse to act out. :p

There is nothing new under the sun.

From Wikipedia:

n Latin America, racial mixture was officially acknowledged from colonial times. There was official nomenclature for every conceivable mixture present in the various countries. Initially, this classification was used as a type of caste system, where rights and privileges were accorded depending on one’s official racial classification.

I saw that link stub and blinked. That was close!

My young daughter is biracial, and not to be creepy or anything, but she is going to be a total knockout. Tall, willowy figure; mysterious feline eyes, one of those soft horse-faces that Hollywood goes for nowadays…Grown men will catch sight of her and automatically re-calculate their priorities in life before they even realize what’s happening. I’ll have my work cut out for me when she hits her teens. In the meantime, if she’d only quit leaving her GoGurt wrappers all over the living room…

I resent very much that small town America has become synonymous with “real America.” Worse, supporters of this bullshit idea seem to hand pick the most low brow, backwards, knee-jerk, afraid-of-bright-lights-and-science people to represent these supposed strongholds of American values. Pitchforks and lanterns prevail when the camera is turned their way. If it wasn’t for their newfound ability to FW FW stupid, alarmist, wingnut emails, we’re led to believe these real Americans spend sunup to sundown tilling the soil before they retire by candlelight with their bibles.

It’s a tiresome lie, and it diminishes the the millions and millions of people living in the US that don’t live that way, and don’t buy that particular flavor of imaginary bullshit.

What a pity. She’s a pretty girl. Looks a bit like one of my students, who has a similar family mix.

This is the little girl who told me that at Thanksgiving her family had “soul food and Chinese food, and Filipino food, and it was all homemade”.

Something on that:

Most immigrants to the US move to cities. That’s where they experience the US for the first time. Their children often move out to smaller towns and suburbs, or the first generation does once they become a little more established.

Pretty soon, even the ‘real america’ of small towns and suburbs is going to start shading away from white faster and faster, and the people there are going to remember that their parents came into this country in the cities.

The GOP plan for the future is to hit themselves in the face with as many hammers as possible as fast as possible, it seems.
