Get Out of Dale Peterson’s Yard
Dale Peterson ran for Alabama Agriculture Commissioner in the GOP primary. He lost. Now he’s endorsing John McMillan, and you’d better not let him catch you on his lawn.

That's funny. Nice .30-30 he's got, though...Two of my brothers used those for deer rifles when we were growing up. Excellent gun. In fact, five of them were used in Utah last night, though not for recreational purposes (but one did have blanks).

Something popped out in this ad. He said he was a Marine "during Vietnam."
Off I went searching and found this:
Dale Peterson was in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, but there's more to the story
Excerpt:
We found one more online reference to Peterson's military service, on a website for the CLI Llama Breed Association. Peterson served on the association's management team, and it includes a bio for Peterson. When we looked at the site on May 20, 2010, it read, "After high school Dale joined the Marine Corps and served two tours during the Vietnam Conflict." By the following day, the website had been changed to read simply, "After high school Dale joined the Marine Corps." (You can see the older version here; and the current one here).
We phoned Peterson to get some clarification on his military service and reached him as he was waiting in line for breakfast at Cracker Barrel. When we mentioned the ad, he shared, unsolicited, that he was wearing his cowboy hat and boots, just like in the commercial. Then we inquired about the allusion to Vietnam.
"That means exactly what it says, 'during Vietnam,' " Peterson said. "I say what I mean and I mean what I say."
Peterson said he never served in Vietnam.
So where did he serve? "From San Juan to Camp LeJeune to Parris Island."
That's San Juan, Puerto Rico; the Marine Corps base camp in LeJeune, N.C.; and the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Parris Island, S.C. Peterson said he was an MP (military police) in San Juan.

He's a regular Mark Kirk... I caught that "marine during Viet Nam" as well...and figured since he didn't say "in Viet Nam" that he remained stateside. No harm in that.

The way it is tucked in in that ad may look suspicious, but he may just be emphasizing that during a period where many objected to the war, he did what he could for the war effort.
He wouldn't get any points from me, but he would probably get quite a few from older conservatives.

Ads seem to be getting more overtly violent. They've have gone from talk of "taking back" the country, to barely disguised threats of sedition & showing images of firearms, and now to bristling aggression and actually firing a weapon in the general direction of a person.
What's next?

If you were a real defender of the Second Amendment, you would certainly recognize from the muzzle blast that the rifle is actually loaded with my new 30/30 rock-salt pellet rounds rather than with ordinary bullets. RWC and Dragon_Lady have made a most generous offer.
Tomorrow, and tomorrow ONLY, the first four people who purchase an LGF cookbook can go here or here, and choose any one of those images they like and will get an 8x10 print of that image, FREE, for ordering the cookbook.
This is a most generous offer!
To preserve anonymity, RWC has set it up with the lab that prints these for you to order the print directly from them.
If you order a book tomorrow, LULU.com will send you an automatic "thank you" note.
Delete any personal information (your name, address etc), and forward that note to me by e-mail, and I will send you the ordering information. First four!
Sounds like a great deal to me!

IMy family did that when I was young. With a cooler full of sasperilla.

If you leave it slightly juicy you don't need to add any other sauce.

Got up at the crack of dawn (5:00 am) and peeled my eyes open for this shoot, we only go out to the seekrit factory two or three times a year but its worth it! I got pics of casting white gold, sterling silver and of course those lovely Agapanthus flowers.

800+ Rabbi's condemn the repeal of "don't ask don't tell."
"Decent Bible-believing family people have been increasingly outraged by the cravenness of many politicians in their mad dash to turn timeless values on their heads, by advancing homosexual adoption, domestic partnerships, civil unions, 'marriage' and 'Heather Has Two Mommies,'" he wrote.
"The next slice of the salami - the koshering of volitional homosexual activity, along with all aspects of the homosexual culture, throughout the U.S. military - constitutes a rebellion against G-d and demoralizes both military and civilian society," he added. "We condemn the inherent antipathy, intolerance and even belligerence toward the essential religious liberties of Bible adherents."
So to paraphrase you are saying that our attempts to limit your ability to dehumanise and discriminate against other human beings and to treat them as subhuman and second class citizens is infringing upon your religious rights?
Since when did your right to practice your own religion include the right to treat other humans like shit in order to do so?

Well firstly, that article comes from WorldNetDaily. Secondly, I found that Rabbi's website, which I won't post, but suffice to say, every article is about the "homosexual agenda".

Hi Reine! I stopped eating red meat for 4 years when my stomach started rebelling after eating it, I asked my doctor why and he said (I don't know if its true or not but the doc said it) that my system was becoming sensitive to the antibiotics and hormones they feed and inject the animals with. Yes! We certainly did! Thank you so much, their both beautiful and I will enjoy making a pendants out of them. I just finished a couple of wire wrap necklaces from freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals so I can turn my attention to the two lovely stones you sent us.
I want to see a link to pictures when you are done. And I'm not trying to fan my feathers, but just a piece of honest advice... if you make something out of them to sell, or if you ever think of selling the piece of Andamooka Opal... don't let it go cheap... go look on Ebay... do a search "andamooka matrix opal" and you'll see that they are starting to pop a good penny for a single worked piece.

A better comparison would be to the Catholic Church which limits the roles of Gays, but doesn't hang them in the streets like Iran. Or many other religious orders whose orthodox groups don't allow gays to participate in their clergy.

Same here. I love the topic, but have to be very careful about who I engage the issue with. I have friends running the gamut from fundamentalist Christian to hard core atheist. Hell, I have that in my own family! Maybe that's why I've learned to speak and listen across the spectrum.

There are other states that don't allow gays in the military, in fact that has been the case in the US. Iran alternatively hangs them in the street and is talking about wiping Israel out and arming two proxy wars attacking Israel.

There's a really simple solution to ending the curse, by the way.
On the way out of Wrigley, the goat's owner yelled that a World Series would never again be played in Wrigley Field.
This would be a perfect opportunity for some upstanding corporation to purchase and rename it.
I'm thinking "BP Park..."

Well, I never had a gun held to my head before. Or saw a guy disemboweled with a broken bottle in a gang fight.
...
Strangely enough I've experienced both were you live now, except it was a knife, not a bottle.

Well, it looks like we're between shifts here in Lizard Land. So I'll go back to my Twilight Zone marathon. G'nite kiddos.

That is strange. Shit happens here in the city more and more, but it's nothing like the Chicago Projects back in the day.
The poor suburbs ringing Paris are another story. But it's still an entirely different flavor of violence: mine was totally Old School: the local hoods had been formed by 40s film noir with Edward G. Robinson and James Carney as role models. It was a real freak show. The ones who survived were often recruited by the Chicago Police Department.

Anyway, how did you manage all of that?
In other words, what the hell happened?

Riverview Amusement Park!
One of the greatest old school amusement parks in the U.S. - before they tore it down to put up a parking lot.
My father loved going to Riverview when he was young. I, of course, have only seen the pictures, but it did photograph well.

Both down town, at Notre Dame of all places, when I was young and hanging about.

For those who've never spent much time in fly-over states where fat back is used to cook beans and bait is not eaten, this is not that alarming. He's a good-old boy die-hard, almost a caricature of himself and his type.
very classy

Now that you make me think about it I'm looking a google maps streetview, zooming in on the spot. If you go down the stairs of Port de Montebello there is a large coblestone promenade along the Siene River. At night, sat on the benches with a 20 foot stone wall at your back you get a spectacular view of Notre Dame Cathedral. The side view, which is lit up at night is more interesting.

Sure, I know exactly where that is. Been there late at night, too, and never felt the slightest bad vibe.

Which doesn't mean that horrible things can't happen there.

Yes, of course. I was just commenting off the top of my head. I'm glad it worked out for you, though. Those can be tough situations.

Also the time the guy got knifed was tense. His face was covered in blood and he was stabbed in the stomach as well. He was lucky because I ran up the street and found a cop, then made him run back with me. No mobile phones in those days.
Just random stuff that happens. Never stopped me from spending time there.

That settles it. I'm not going out anymore. I was looking for an excuse, so I owe you one. :-)

re: #4 Gus 802
To his credit, he did opt to enlist during wartime. (Of course, he probably did this so he could negotiate a cushy deal rather than get drafted and take his chances.) But it was still a calculated risk, that took more balls than, say, taking an educational deferment.
(Of course, taking any legal deferment, like the educational one, is what *I* would have personally done, despite the fact that I think those deferments were grossly unfair...)

I think I saw a clip of George W. Bush playing T-Ball on the whitehouse law. That's pretty gay, isn't it?
