RNC to Reinvite Race-Baiting Smear Artist

Politics • Views: 2,529

Reports of sanity breaking out in the Republican National Committee have apparently been greatly exaggerated: RNC to re-invite Breitbart to fundraiser.

“I don’t know Andrew Breitbart’s schedule for after Labor Day, but he certainly will be invited,” RNC Communications Director Doug Heye said, reiterating that the event “has been postponed,” rather than canceled as CNN reported.

It’s not like this should surprise anyone.

The RNC must serve their base, and their base is a bunch of racist backward fucks from the stone age. In other words, middle Americans.

I don’t think I’d go so far as to call middle Americans ‘racist backward fucks’ but I do think that the racist backward fucks probably consider themselves representative of middle America - and therein lies the problem for the Republicans. Most people don’t like that association.

Assuming that all R or D voters vote due to single racial or social issues is just ignorance of how fluid and complex party loyalty is. Are there racist turds that need to be disinvited from the party - yes! That does not justify overgeneralizations about the vast majority of US citizens or why they vote a particular way.

I would agree with that in the sense that a lot of people are looking for a place to hang their fiscal conservative hat and the Tea (Taxed Enough Already) Party movement is the movement that has a high enough profile to attract large numbers. There are certainly groups seeking to co-opt the message and power that comes with a constituency and they include bad people with bad agendas. As you said the movement is not quite coherent and time will tell if the heart and soul of the conservative movement will allow itself to be corrupted by racism and hate or if they will kick the bigots to the curb like the Democrats did towards the end of the civil rights movement.

I would disagree that those people are actually fiscal conservatives, though. mainly, they don’t approach an actual understanding of fiscal matters enough to approach a real policy position.

“Taxed Enough Already” is an inherently idiotic phrase.

There are certainly groups seeking to co-opt the message and power that comes with a constituency and they include bad people with bad agendas.

“The question of whether black lawmakers are now being singled out for scrutiny has been simmering throughout the 111th Congress, with the Office of Congressional Ethics a focal point of the concerns. Rangel is being investigated by the majority party, of which he is a member. Are you suggesting that the DNC isn’t dealing with Rangel?

I notice you used a direct invocation of a recent John Boehner quote.

“I expect, and the American people expect, the highest ethical standards from their members of Congress,” Boehner said, sitting alongside McConnell on Fox News. “Nancy Pelosi said four years ago that it was time to drain the swamp. I can’t believe it’s taken some two years to investigate the Charlie Rangel case. But the fact is she has not kept her promise. The swamp is alive and well.”

From here. Talking points abound.

re: #46 goddamnedfrank

Right, those Tea Party simpatico people all coincidentally became acutely aware of and worried about these problems after the Black Democratic President took office.

I’ve been mulling this for a few minutes to try to give a fair response.

There are plenty of racist or plain ignorant conspiracy freaks who are against President Obama for all the wrong reasons. I agree with you on that point. That doesn’t mean there aren’t people in middle America (somewhere between Canton Ohio and Las Vegas Nevada) that aren’t struggling to find a political identity that supports their positive values. The Democratic party isn’t going to attract them on single social issues or by expanding the role of government (arguably even during a crisis that may require more government intenrvention).

In order to get traditional conservatives to abandon tranditional party ties you have to offer something positive - not just trash a characture of their beliefs. And most midwestern farmers or construction workers are not thinking about the color of the guy in the whitehouse. They are thinking that they are up to their ears in debt and in danger of never working again.

Elitist diatribes against the unwashed masses will not attract more people to any political party.

The zombie Reagan vote.

I would like a live politician to pick up on some of the core principles that Goldwater stood for. How about that?

Goldwater, unfortunately, voted against the Civil Rights Act.

I don’t think Goldwater values are exactly what we need from the right, right now. Late-period-Buckley values, perhaps.

I was using Nancy Pelosi’s talking point plus the fact that Rangle was caught with his hand in the cookie jar several years ago on the Carribbian Condo deal. My memory isn’t so bad I need a pundit to remind me of events that are older than two weeks.

That would be fucking horrible. Goldwater was an unrepentant racist scumbag.

His opposition to it was ‘principled’— he honestly did feel it was unconstitutional.

His work later in life on behalf of gays was very inspiring.

So perhaps late-period Goldwater.

You do realize that he is being investigated by the DNC, under rules recently proposed an enacted by the DNC, don’t you?

Fair enough. Dioganes is still looking for an honest man. Hopefully not in Washington DC.

Nah! I don’t think there will be much success with that either. Honestly - the approval rating of congress being within the margin of error of the unemployment rate will get more traction than any negative campaigns or protests. Even the ones with b-side country western music stars attending.

I updinged that for the sake of supporting Middle America, but if they think the Tea Party is going to solve any of their problems, they may want to reconsider.

The road to perdition is paved with good intentions…

BTW - really nice infographic detailing Beck’s inside dealing with the Goldline scam:

[Link: www.ritholtz.com…]

It’s an utter and total scam. The rare coins beck and goldline push are overpriced, and a total ripoff.
