The Human Family Tree

Science • Views: 5,066

National Geographic Channel has a fascinating and beautifully designed interactive site for their show: The Human Family Tree.

On a single day on a single street, with the DNA of just a couple of hundred random people, National Geographic Channel sets out to trace the ancestral footsteps of all humanity. Narrated by Kevin Bacon, The Human Family Tree travels to one of the most diverse corners of the world — Queens, N.Y. — to demonstrate how we all share common ancestors who embarked on very different journeys. Regardless of race, nationality or religion, all of us can trace our ancient origin back to the cradle of humanity, East Africa. What did our collective journey look like, and where did it take your specific ancestors? At what point in our past did we first cross paths with the supposed strangers living in our neighborhood? Now, in The Human Family Tree, the people of this quintessential American melting pot find out that their connections go much deeper than a common ZIP code.

This is way cool, & if I could afford it I would get the 99 dollar kit to join the project. It can trace either your paternal or maternal side's migrations through history, but not both. Females can only go up their mitochondrial tree(female) but if you really just have to know you could get a male relative to donate the Y chromosone DNA for a paternal migration history.

WOW that is cool. I wish I had $99 to toss. I'd love to be a part of this.

Research has determined that birthers, creationists, and 9/11 troofers all contain the same genetic markers, which leads me to conclude that they are, in fact, extant remnants of Home erectus. Credence is lent to this theory by their simple, tribalistic racial associations, pervasive faulty logic patterns, and inability to utilize language in a meaningful fashion.

Does anyone else see the irony with Kevin Bacon narrating?

(We are ALL related to Kevin Bacon.)

Just an observation!

I think I've shared this story before, but this is sort of on topic, so I'll do it again.

About 5 years ago an African-American woman from Detroit named Jacquelyn contacted a cousin of mine in central Tennessee. She wanted to know if he was related to a man mentioned in a Civil War journal she had acquired a copy of while researching her own ancestors. The journal detailed a Union supply convoy that moved through the Sequatchie Valley during the siege of Chattanooga. During the march south, a soldier recounted how they had met a "slave woman and 5 mulatto children who said the master of the house was hiding in the woods." My cousin told her the name of the man was not exact, but close enough to his (and mine) great-great grandfather's, and he agreed to do a blood test.

Jacquelyn ran the test and discovered that we were related, and in fact my great-great grandfather was her great-great grandfather. The "slave woman" was her great-great grandmother.

A lot of people are more intertwined then they care or are willing to admit and I think once you open yourself up to the fact life is one big stew, life becomes a lot more interesting.

I posted this piece on the interrelatedness of all humans from the "Engines of our Ingenuity" show a while back:

...Now go all the way back to early modern humans, 30,000 years ago when Earth's population was very sparse. The number of your forebears is so vast as to be beyond my calculator's ability to show it to me. Each of those ancient beings had to've been your grandparent an uncountable number of times over. We needn't go anywhere near that far back to be certain of our relationship to Confucius, Alexander the great or King Tut. Every Viking woman and medieval African chieftain, every early Mongol mother and Australian bushman would turn up over and over in your family tree.

Glenn Harlan Reynolds: Who is responsible for Warmabomber's violent agenda?
By: Glenn Harlan Reynolds

Looking at the environmental literature, we find terms like those used above -- the currently stylish description is “eliminationist rhetoric” -- used widely, and plans for mass sterilization are fairly common.

And, as Mark Hemingway pointed out in these pages a few days ago, one need only look to the writings of President Obama’s “science czar,” John Holdren to find something similar. Seeing humanity as destructive, Holdren wrote in favor of forced abortion and putting sterilizing agents in the drinking water, and in particular of sterilizing people who cause “social deterioration.”
...
biotechnology is getting more common and -- thanks to folks ranging from Paul Ehrlich (Holdren’s coauthor) to Al Gore -- so are apocalyptic environmental views that treat humans as a cancer upon the earth.

How common are these views? I typed “Humanity is a” into Google and the top three suggestions were “Humanity is a virus,” “Humanity is a disease,” and “Humanity is a cancer.”

With such views spreading, and with technology making it steadily easier for individual or small groups to try creating their own viruses or diseases to, in their mind, level the score, perhaps we need to hold the environmental movement responsible for its frequent use of eliminationist rhetoric.

Policing the science is likely to prove difficult. But policing the rhetoric -- as American society has long done with expressions of racial hatred or genocidal sentiment -- seems well within reach.

[Link: www.politifact.com...]

The book was written more than 30 years ago.

I'm willing to believe that in 30 years time, people's views change. I know mine have.

From the article you linked:

Under questioning by Sen. David Vitter, R-La., during his Senate confirmation hearing, Holdren said he "no longer thinks it's productive to focus on optimum population for the United States. ... I think the key thing today is that we need to work to improve the conditions that all of our citizens face economically, environmentally, and in other respects. And we need to aim for something that I have for years been calling 'sustainable prosperity.'"

Vitter continued with his line of question, asking directly, "Do you think determining optimal population is a proper role of government?"

Said Holdren: "No, senator, I do not. ... I think the proper role of government is to develop and deploy the policies with respect to economy, environment, security, that will ensure the well-being of the citizens we have."

But with regard to Beck's claim that Holdren "has proposed forcing abortions and putting sterilants in the drinking water to control population," the text of the book clearly does not support that. We think a thorough reading shows that these were ideas presented as approaches that had been discussed. They were not posed as suggestions or proposals. In fact, the authors make clear that they did not support coercive means of population control. Certainly, nowhere in the book do the authors advocate for forced abortions.

As disturbing as the ideas in Ecoscience may seem, thinking through extreme situations and visualizing consequences and possible solutions is part of what science is about. Many years ago, when I was in college, my father was part of a committee hiring an executive director from out of town for a Jewish activist group he was on the board of. They hired a young, single man. I mentioned this to a friend and added, per my last conversation with my parents, "They're almost sure he's straight."

She (at the time a lesbian), looked nervous and asked why that mattered. Is that one of those people who thought Baruch Goldstein was some kind of hero? Because I remember that thread and it was sickening.

I remember that evening. I was scared to death I was going to find out that sort of talk was OK here, because then I really wouldn't have felt OK about participating.

I was nauseated, but relieved, when it turned out it was NOT OK.

So did I. William F. Buckley's denunciation of them scattered them to the four winds politically, but when he died they came roaring back.

The whole thing was just ugly-sad for me. Ploomie Himni (spelled as best as I can remember) advanced that utterly vile idea and then could not be persuaded she was wrong even though at least seven other posters tried to explain it to her (including both you and I). Charles banned her and the foolish jerk who agreed with her. I was glad he did, but I wish she had not let her rage become her master like that. Additionally, it's rather silly the way they say "Charles Johnson attacks Brewer" as if though he was the only one. Are they that sheltered? Half the country or half the people that saw Brewer foul up her debate were laughing at her. It was covered by many blogs and there wasn't much cheering. Anyone on the right wing that thinks Brewer performed well is both delusional and in serious denial.

The idea of a tree in general evolution has been overly simple for quite a while. Hybridization and lateral gene transfer supplied by viruses have pretty much made it a tangled mess of branches.

Stephen Hawking interviewed by Diane Sawyer (6/10/10):

"What could define God [is thinking of God] as the embodiment of the laws of nature. However, this is not what most people would think of that God," Hawking told Sawyer. "They made a human-like being with whom one can have a personal relationship. When you look at the vast size of the universe and how insignificant an accidental human life is in it, that seems most impossible."

When Sawyer asked if there was a way to reconcile religion and science, Hawking said, "There is a fundamental difference between religion, which is based on authority, [and] science, which is based on observation and reason. Science will win because it works." [Link: www.huffingtonpost.com...]

That rug quote nontroversy is pathetic. There are two different quotes:

"I do not pretend to understand the moral universe; the arc is a long one. . . . But from what I see I am sure it bends toward justice." -- Theodore Parker

MLK's may very well have been inspired by Parker. However, it is clear that the exact quote, "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice" is not attributable to Parker but King.

Report: Afghan Mineral Deposits Could Completely Revolutionize Nation's System Of Corruption

WASHINGTON—According to a new State Department report, Afghanistan's more than $900 billion worth of untapped iron, copper, lithium, and other minerals could transform the nation from a graft-laden backwater into a modern, 21st-century hub of corruption. "Afghanistan's crooked political system currently relies solely on the small-time bribes of opium peddlers, but these highly sought-after natural resources could usher in a bright new era of illegitimate government maneuvering," said M. Farhan Sajadi, associate professor of Central Asian Studies at Hofstra University. "Officials will soon be able to embezzle, extort, and receive under-the-table kickbacks from major international conglomerates on a scale that would have been unimaginable just a few years ago. This is a major leap forward for Afghan kleptocracy." Responding to concerns that the nation's future mining profits would enrich only a handful of elite powerbrokers in Kabul, President Hamid Karzai vowed that he would do everything in his power to fairly distribute the wealth to even the most distant members of his family.

You can never be too rough on the Democrat members in the senate - they need more Frankens and getting Grayson up from the House would be a good start too. Too many of them are shit scared to throw out some blue meat.

The problem with the "moderates" in the Democratic caucus is not that they are "modertae" - that in itself is fine - it's that they are bought and paid for by insurers and traditional GOP interests which informs their voting records.

Truth be told, I'm insulted everytime someone assumes I must be male.

Try not to be too offended after hearing certain stories, guys tend to believe that everyone is male on the internet until proven otherwise, regardless of avatar.

My brother used to play Female spell casters in WOW just because they looked noticeably less silly then the male ones did in the correct gear.

If I were a Democrat, I would be ashamed of what Pelosi said and embarrassed by it,” said David Horowitz, the former leftist-turned-conservative, whose Freedom Center has steered nearly $1 million over the past three years to Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch group, one of the leading opponents of the lower Manhattan mosque plan.

That's about $333,333 per year. Nothing new of course that this has been a money making scheme by Spencer. Between his speaking fees and book sales and advances he makes a rather comfortable living. There's no motivation for him to temper his fear mongering. It is, and this includes all of the professional anti-Jihadists, an industry.

Never a dull moment. If it isn't the trolls or the sock puppets, it's the spammers.

And here's a good one I just found Googling for something else - apparently Donald Douglas of the bottom of the barrel blog American Power had a post last year, trying to figure out if I have teh ghey.

American Power: Is Charles Johnson Gay?

I don't know how I missed this at the time -- oh wait, yes I do. I'd rather stick red hot knitting needles in my eyes than read Douglas' amazingly craptastic blog.

Hey, Donald, no - I'm not gay. But I don't consider it an insult, either, you fucking Neanderthal.

More projection on the part of the butthurt wingnut fraternity. If people of a more liberal/rational persuasion are gay, they just say so, because they KNOW there is no shame whatsoever in it.

In the fevered pyschological maelstrom of the wingnut universe, however, teh ghey is something to be deeply ashamed of; consequently they say it quietly and sheepishly, in private, with two wetsuits ands a giant dildo crammed up their arse.

Though it was not listed on the public tax reports filed by Horowitz’s Freedom Center, POLITICO has confirmed that the lion’s share of the $920,000 it provided over the past three years to Jihad Watch came from Chernick, whose husband, Aubrey Chernick, has a net worth of $750 million, as a result of his 2004 sale to IBM of a software company he created, and a security consulting firm he now owns.

A onetime trustee of the hawkish Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Chernick led the effort to pull together $3.5 million in venture capital to start Pajamas Media, a conservative blog network that made its name partly with hawkish pro-Israel commentary and of late has kept up a steady stream of anti-mosque postings, including one rebutting attacks by CAIR against Spencer — who Pajamas Media CEO Roger Simon called “one of the ideological point men in the global war on terror.”

Hmmmm....I'm starting to think maybe it's time for somebody to kick over the podium and take a giant shit on the stage. It worked out well for Mr. Bourdain

The Freedom Center had a budget of $4.5 million last year, according to its tax filings, of which $290,000 came from the conservative Bradley Foundation, which also gave $75,000 to the Center for Security Policy last year. Horowitz has received an average of $461,000 a year in salary and benefits over the past three years, while Spencer has pulled in an average of $140,000, according to the center’s IRS filings.

But, Horowitz said, “Robert Spencer, David Horowitz, Pam Geller — we don’t do this for the money — we do this because we believe in it.”

The Union was better for not hanging him. By showing mercy, they showed that the Union sought peace and reconciliation, not rage and revenge.

undeniably true. John Brown's body just feels more of that particular moment in history - and the rage felt comes through. That it wasn't acted on is good - but that popular articles remain showing the sentiments of the day expressed by those fighting the good fight is something i like.

Better still, they could do a Flounce In Real Life. When the moderator catches them dodging a question, they scream and yell about how the moderator is out to get them, spew bile all over the stage and then flounce out the door. That counts as almost-flounce. It's still letting one's butthurt get the better of him, but at least he didn't make it public. Still, the better approach would be to avoid the butthurt altogether.

he wouldn't have gotten banned even after his 'farewell email" if he hadn't done that-- but the reality is that the people who write such emails don't bugger off, they want some kind of cred to take to the stalker site. Hence the need to make a public flounce.

They seem put a lot of things on Zionism that isn't there. As a movement for Jews to move to Israel, it's fine and always my definition anyway. It's a desire for the homeland. Beyond that, defense is something that they just have to have despite any political or religious system or movement. And throwing Islam into the mix is kinda weird, too.

Correspondence Committee. It seems to be where many ex-lizards now hang out, and it seems like a much healthier atmosphere than the stalker blog, based on my cursory check of it when Mandy took off to there.

Mandy's great cry of freedom on CC will make me giggle forever.

It's kinda like serial killer cred.

BTW, for people who think that the CC blog is all sunshine and puppies...oops! They aren't. What a shock.

The fuckwits at the stalker blog 'accidentally' posted a link to one of the 'seekrit' threads at CC. Deleted now--but not before many peeps took screenshots. Gasp, shock, whaddayaknow-- they say nasty shit about LGF and Charles when they think it's 'private'.

LOL.

And now CC and the Blogtrocity are linking to each other. Too funny. I guess the idiots at CC finally realized that they are NEVER getting back into LGF. (That was their belief and reason for previously 'distancing' themselves from the 2.0 stalkers). You can see on their private thread that their hatred for LGF and smearing of Charles was never any different from that seen on 2.0.

It's a testament to their utter stupidity and self delusion that they ever thought they were kidding anyone with their "we don't talk about LGF" act.

Now that I no longer have to maintain a polite relationship, will someone tell me what the heck Spare called me that time that we were arguing about the Manhattan Project, and it got deleted?

(Yes, I'm morbidly nosy.)

I wouldn't worry about it. Loads of comments about me or directed at me have been deleted before I ever saw them. They tend to follow the exact same pattern and it's all very boring.

They're not smart in any sense, so they are not even creative in their abuse. Very ho-hum.

Not surprised about the CC shenanigans. A lot of them post at Douche™.

Most of them don't, actually. But DES and Butthurtmonkey do. BSM used Mandy's arrival and a subsequent thread to post some of his musical parodies. All were aimed at Charles, of course, and they showed the toll wingnutism has taken on his mind.

Your mind is too precious to let it get fouled by political slime. Protect your mind, say no to Wingnut insanity. This public service announcement was brought to you by Falcon's Wing Research and Jimmah-Ice Productions.

Pajamas Media declares the end of Presidential darkies....
When Will We Have Another Black President?

It’s entirely possible that President Obama has poisoned the well for at least a generation. It has nothing to do with the fact that he is black; it is because he is grossly ill-fitted for the job and may well be the worst U.S. president thus far.
....
Some probably disagree, but I think President Obama’s race was the deciding factor in his election. Had he been Caucasian, Asian, or Hispanic, he probably would not have got the Democratic Party nomination, much less been elected president. President Hillary Clinton would likely be sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office.

So, we may not have another black president for a long time, because Obama was so very bad, but not because he's black, just because he's so very bad--so it's possible we may not elect another black president.

In other words, racism has nothing to do with this, but it's possible that we might not elect another black president because this black president sucked, and, they suggest, we only elected him because he was black.

Somehow, I'm not buying the attempt to claim that this has nothing to do with racism.

Bollocks. Mandy and I agreed on a few issues-- like reproductive freedom.

Guess what? Mandy would slink around downdinging me for AGREEING with her and explicitly for DEFENDING HER and her positions.

Mandy was a classic bully and coward and bigot. Like any bully, she ran away crying and wailing when someone objected-- like any bully, she sneaked around downdinging comments she AGREED with, --when they were made by her 'enemy'. Even if they were comments that DEFENDED her.

I'm sorry, Ice, but I can't agree. To have come through what Mandy did means that she is no coward. The problem is that she is an angry person and sometimes she lets her anger get the better of her. That happened repeatedly here, and Charles eventually decided not to put up with it anymore.

A coward is someone who doesn't have the guts to answer their critics. A coward is someone who tries to make a strength out of their weakness ("My gaze muscle is strong!") Rubbish, jaunte. Sorry, but mandy was often abusive to women (in the news) in similar situations. In fact one of the reasons I stopped excusing her behaviour was that she posted a story where a man exploited a woman-- and she LIED and deliberately excerpted the story in such a way as to imply that the woman was at fault.

To me, this page of hers was quite telling. Notice how she completely ignored CuriousLurker's pointing out her rather blatant lie-by-omission? She obviously thought she could get away with it (Fox News does all the time, after all), and few things make me lose respect for a person faster than such blatantly disingenuous behavior (especially when it's used to buttress bigoted beliefs).

I know another "long time respected lizard" (now ex lizard) who claimed she was "abused by the exhusband"== guess what? That was also a total lie.

So get back to me about Mandy's alleged abuse when you can also verify her other claims.

McSpiff, but close. You do know I have probably 10x more posts attacking Spare than agreeing with him right? I can only think of 1 topic we agreed on... that the new york cabbie stabbing seemed more related to Afghanistan than Park51. I'm not sure why you're lumping me in with the right wing posters when you both know damn well my politics matches both of yours closer than most. Seriously, if you want to talk about topics we agree on, let's talk health care.

He's actually singing a new song: No, You're Obsessed!!1 by the Jimmah-Ice Hater Connection. Here's a lyrics sample:

"I downding Ice's postings,
To Jimmah post hostile replies.
I make LGF,
Look like Lord of the Flies.

But I'm not obsessed, you are!! SPEW!"

If the chorus seems like a FAIL, that's because it is. It's a hater song sung by those on their way out the door.

You never get it do you, DF? No matter how many times it is shown to you, in the clearest possible terms. GAAH.

A coward is someone who doesn't have the guts to answer their critics. A coward is someone who tries to make a strength out of their weakness ("My gaze muscle is strong!") A coward is someone who, when wingnuts constitute the majority, brags, after running a liberal off the site, that "LGF is a tough room" , but when they find themselves no longer in the majority, whines about 'unfair criticism'.

Mandy Manners is a coward, and is now slandering Charles and LGF in her new stalker blog home. Still wanna defend her DF? I have a shitload of her quotes from CC ready to unload on you if you're in the mood...

I'm not driven to defend anyone in particular. And Mandy caused her own banning. I don't think it was deliberate, but its hard to say. What Spare said we'll never know, as it was done in private. But again, no reason to defend Spare.

Now, honestly I'm not surprised that Mandy ended up at a stalker blog. But I do think suggesting her abuse was faked is not good for anyone involved. And Ice probably can post inconsistencies in her stories. Probably can with me too, I summarized a lot of my personal life, and some of it is deliberately changed to make me less identifiable. Stalkers and all that.

You don't take shit, I get that and respect that. But sometimes it gets turned on way too much and ends up splashing everyone. And that helps no one. Posting about what a horrible person Mandy is helps no one. Calling posters stalkers isn't helpful. Now if you have evidence that someone is an actual stalker, post it here and let Charles deal with it. I don't want to see anyone banned and I think its sad when it happens. I suspect you two disagree. And quite frankly your attitude to the whole thing pisses me off.

Look, honest opinions?

Spare and Mandy were two of the biggest bigots I've ever had the misfortune of communicating with. I am glad I never need to deal with some of the stupid talking points that we've addressed (Me you jimmah and countless others). They were true lost causers about the whole thing. I won't be asking Charles to reinstate them anytime soon (or ever).

I don't feel any great need to defend Charles here on LGF. This is his domain. If he wants to filter the word "Mandy" from all future posts, he can and he will. But luckily he seems to view the stalkers as an annoying distraction and nothing more.

I've defended many people here as not a stalker. Some have stayed and some have ended up over there. Many have been what I consider a bigot. Every single one who's ended up as a stalker disappoints me.

My judgement doesn't really matter. I don't decide who gets banned and who doesn't. To the best of my knowledge, that's just Charles. So in that sense, your judgement is equally worthless unless Charles is basing his decisions off your opinion.

Alright, maybe I'm not being clear, or maybe we just disagree. Not sure, but I'll give it another shot.

You generally see two types of bannings here.

The first is pure troll. Usually a sock used to say what a poopy head charles is. We all get a good laugh, D_F fires up the grill and the community is better for it. Totally opposite effect of what they think they're accomplishing I'd say.

The other banning is the Wingnut with 50k posts and more karma than you can shake a stick at. These people generally poison the well for months, and then go off and post at stalker blogs.

But once they're banned, they're banned. They can't do anymore damage. The only damage they can do is when people don't shut up about them. So I'm sorry if you feel like I'm defending Mandy over you. I'm not. But her damage is very much done. I feel like you and Ice do a diservice to yourselves and LGF when you do the "omg do you know Mandy is a stalker now?" Seriously, why should anyone give a fuck?

If someone comes on LGF, and says or does any of those things, I'll be the first one to mock them mercilessly. That's a promise. Especially Charles because he's a damn good host.

And you know what, if someone says "Hey, you seen what Mandy is posting over at CC? Its good stuff, everyone check it out" I would agree with you 110% too.

But if someone says "yeah, I had some good exchanges with Mandy, too bad she got herself banned. She really needs to deal with her anger management issues" I see no harm in letting that pass or even agreeing. I do see a hell of a lot of harm in screaming "STALKER LOVER! COLLABORATOR!"

re: #726 iceweasel

Yes, it is one way. Because I have no way of asking Mandy or any other banned poster from saying shit about LGF. I guess I could leave a note here and hope she can see it. I can address you directly, I can't address them. That's a huge difference.

731 Jimmah  Sun, Sep 5, 2010 10:19:37pm

re: #727 McSpiff

Be honest Mc Spiff - you were wrong about Spare O Lake and Mandy, - and you are angry about it - that's all this is really about.

What you have a problem with, quite simply, is admitting the truth.

I was wrong about Mandy, I was honestly surprised when she ended up with the stalkers. I didn't know Spare had ended up there too tho? I'm not angry about it. Honestly, I need a face to get angry. I don't have that for either Ice or you. Its Ice's attitude, like the way she addressed avanti that disappoint me.

Seriously, its pretty clear to any of the regulars that I couldn't care less for mandy or spare. Go read the thread mandy was banned in. I'm one of the first to call her out on her Tennessee-has-no-racist-past bullshit in that thread.

You two place way more personal attachment on this blog than many or most other posters and I'm not sure you're even aware that you do.

re: #728 Jimmah

We should be more respectful of people who try to turn the comments on this site into a copy of HOTAIR, and then, when they get banned. spend every day thenceforth telling lies about LGF and smearing Charles and the LGF community?

All we are doing here is telling the truth abouth them. That IS playing fair. Good luck asking them to do anything approaching that, Mr Ghandi.

I'll accept the Ghandi moniker as a compliment. There is little chance this blog will become like Hot Air, but it does not have to be a leftie echo chamber either. I enjoy shooting down the occasional Hot Air like comments, but I'll still do it in my Ghandi guise.

Its Ice's attitude, like the way she addressed avanti that disappoint me.

Your judgement, and attitude, and inability is what disappoints me.

So you don't have any problem with ice, it's just her 'attitude' - but you looooved Mandy, whose attitude included calling avanti a 'used condom', and who urged fellow wingnuts to stalk WUB and windsagio "google their names, lizards'.

Ice has never done anything like that - you just don't like her, for some as yet unrevealed reason.

This is yet another demonstration of why your judgement continues to be unsound.

I've hand plenty of problems with Mandy. So did Charles. She's gone now. She can't hurt you.

Maybe you don't consider lines like:

If you need to be called 'a used condom' in order to feel like you're at home, go pay someone.

a personal attack. I do. I find Ice quite frequently attacks people first(like avanti this thread). Even stupid stuff like spelling my name wrong. I don't like her because she comes across a bully. I know you won't agree with that, and I know you love her very much. But let's not pretend like I haven't revealed my reasons.

737 Targetpractice  Sun, Sep 5, 2010 10:35:41pm

No real point to dragging stalker drama over here and obsessing about it. They talk shit about us all the time and we ignore it all the same. Better that way, as it shows that they've ceased to have any influence on this blog or on the people who frequent it. They wanna sit and stew, then fuck'em. Don't bother me none that they got nothing better to do with their lives than bitch about this blog ain't "what it used to be."

738 yasharki  Sun, Sep 5, 2010 10:37:28pm

Looks like a "home shopping network" sales pitch. Some of it seems like an outright scam: how can online purchase, followed by land mail submission be anonymous?

Lefty echo chamber WTF? I've said many times that this site would benefit from some sensible conservatives - Spare and Mandy were about as far from that idea as it gets. If you want them back, in the interests of LGF not becoming an 'echo chamber' - write to Charles and ask to have their membership reinstated - see how far that gets you. If their absence isn't your issue then what is?

On then other point, we have real lives which take up most of our time, in case you haven't noticed; we love this blog but we are not 'connected' - in an unhealthy sense - to this blog in the way that the stalkers who spend years crying about their bannings - some of whom are the very people who are trying to score Ghandi points by defending/excusing.

Nice try though. You're not very special here now that we have real liberals around, especially liberals who-- unlike you-- will actually stand up for other, genuine liberals.

With respect to the bold point... Here's a shocking idea, some people don't like you because you're an asshole. Has nothing to do with Stalkers, or politics or any of it. It's no grand conspiracy to get the wingnuts back, some of us just don't like you. And the way you've both treated avanti this thread is the perfect example of that.

Oh, do you? THAT'S YOUR GIRL MANDYS SLUR AGAINST AVANTI, NOT ICEWEASELS! Ice was referencing the name that Mandy used to call Avanti. Does that make any difference to you?

Maybe it's time you stopped getting into arguments you don't know the first fucking thing about hmm?

find Ice quite frequently attacks people first(like avanti this thread)

Do us a favour and join Mandy, Bagua, and Spare who all sang the same butthurt tune. "Ice is a bully who is ruining LGF! It's so unfair when she defends herself against being called a whore and a sociopath. WAAAH!"

And stop wasting our time, until you have at least half a clue about what the fuck you are talking about.

PS We await you denouncing of Mandy as a bully, and your apology to iceweasel for attributing your friend Mandy's words to her.

It's been a pleasure watching you beclown yourself like this though. Take care and toodle-oo!

Ya know, it's kinda of funny. The reason I started posting on this blog was a attempt to have a civil discussion across the political spectrum.

Obama often said to "Disagree without being disagreeable" Now I find that me, and perhaps the POTUS are not "real liberals" by your definition.
You two often say you are defending Charles, but Charles is a big boy, with a big ass stick, and can police this blog just fine IMHO. I'm not trying to be special, I'm just trying to blog without the friggin drama. I've had enough of it for the evening, I've gone from being a Commie, to not being left enough for your taste. Nite all.

As I peruse this thread, I find it hilarious that the ones most concerned with "stalkers" are ones doing an awful lot of "stalking".
"collaborators", "stalker lover"....too funny
You might think this was the net version of the Hamas coup or the second coming of the Bolshevik revolution.
A few of you take yourselves way too seriously.

Sigh. A reminder of a personal attack by the person we are criticising - and you are defending - does not constitute a personal attack.

A quick reminder of how you entered this thread:

Really? You're going to start questioning this all now that you know she can't reply? Real classy Ice. I'm out for the night before I end up with a timeout.

Yeah, you weren't defending Mandy at all./

I don't think that's likely to happen, DF has a Buddha like ability to put up with people's s*** as far as I've seen so far. The fact that he called Buck "a good egg" at one point proves this beyond a shadow of a doubt if you ask me...

How the hell did I get dragged into this?
