Rick Perry’s ‘Prayer Rally’ - Sponsored by Insane, Fanatical Bigots
The nearly unbelievable Republican craziness story of the day is creationist Texas Governor Rick Perry’s bizarre upcoming day of fasting and “prayer rally,” intended to evoke God’s intervention to save America. Here’s the website for this blatantly theocratic event: The Response: A call to prayer for a nation in crisis.
What makes this so unbelievably crazy? In addition to Rick Perry’s endorsement, the event is funded and co-sponsored by none other than the American Family Association, one of the most bigoted and deranged religious right organizations in the country, whose main spokesman, Bryan Fischer, is notorious for his insane rants — for example, the rant he issued yesterday, claiming that the Nazi Party was founded by homosexuals in a Munich gay bar! Yes, he really did say this.
Youtube VideoAnd it gets worse — much worse. Here’s a list of the other participants in this crazed “prayer rally,” a jaw-dropping who’s who of religious fanatics and extremists: Fact Sheet: Gov. Rick Perry’s Extremist Allies.
And note that Rick Perry is said to be considering a run for the Presidential nomination.
