It’s Official: Romney Will Proudly Stand With America’s Best-Known Birther

Crazy at the top
Politics • Views: 39,539

One of the clearest signs yet that the Republican Party is off the rails and over the cliff: Romney Camp Stands by Trump After Latest Birther Comments.

(CBS News) Mitt Romney’s campaign stood by its decision to use Donald Trump as a top surrogate even as the reality television host continues to insist President Obama was not born in the United States.

Romney is scheduled to appear at a Las Vegas fundraiser Tuesday with Trump, who made headlines last year with his “investigation” of Mr. Obama’s birth certificate. …

In a new interview, Trump pointed to a recent report that Mr. Obama’s literary agency listed him in a 1991 booklet as having been born in Kenya.

“He didn’t know he was running for president, so he told the truth,” Trump told The Daily Beast. “Now they’re saying it was a mistake. Just like his Kenyan grandmother said he was born in Kenya, and she pointed down the road to the hospital, and after people started screaming at her she said, ‘Oh, I mean Hawaii.’ Give me a break.”

A former assistant at the literary agency has said the printing was a clerical error.

Today Romney adviser Kevin Madden said the candidate disagrees with Trump, but would continue to campaign with him.

At this point, I’m not really surprised by this news. More like a sort of weary disgust. A GOP presidential candidate openly courting a crazed conspiracy theorist who claims the first black President of the United States was actually born in Kenya. Good grief.

And please note: Donald Trump is citing one of breitbart.com’s utterly moronic BOMBSHELL EXCLUSIVES as evidence Obama was born in Kenya — the BOMBSHELL EXCLUSIVE that contained a disclaimer saying it was DEFINITELY NOT evidence Obama was born in Kenya.

I would have been legitimately shocked by any other outcome. Romney doesn't have a notochord, let alone a backbone.

PJMedia to present awards for "biased and dishonest" journalism

With plenty of awards available to honor journalists, two organizations are teaming to recognize those whose work is biased and dishonest.

PJ Media and the New Criterion are now taking nominations from the public for the first ever Walter Duranty Prize, recognizing the most dishonest reporting from a journalist this year. Roger L. Simon, CEO of PJ Media, tells OneNewsNow the award is named after Walter Duranty, The New York Times correspondent in Moscow who was accused of hiding the evils of Stalin.

Report: N. Korean officials executed in staged traffic accidents

A new Amnesty International report paints a gruesome picture of summary executions, torture and ill-treatment in North Korea as Kim Jong Un succeeded his late father, Kim Jong Il, as the country's ruler last December.

The country used firing squads or staged traffic accidents to execute 30 officials involved in talks to unite North and South Korea, according to the 2012 Amnesty International report released Thursday. It also notes that the country had been questioned about another 37 reported executions between 2007 and 2010 for "financial crimes."

As the ruling authority shifted to Kim Jong Un, the country's State Security agency detained another 200 North Korean officials, some of whom are now feared executed or in prison camps, the report notes.

FRC awards Ron 'gays worse than maggots' Baity with 2012 Watchmen Award

Let's look at Ron Baity:

- Implies that gay people are worse than maggots:

- Compares gay people to murderers:

- Wants to "save" gay people so they will "quit being homos":

- Claims accepting gay people would make society "more filthy":

- Claims gay people are embracing a "learned lifestyle," regardless of what science says:

- Claims gay people are not "normal":

- Claims gay people are promoting "perversion" in schools; says kids who join pro-LGBT clubs should "set down in the middle of next week":

- Says the LGBT community wants to use their "lifestyles" to "recruit" others towards the "urban renewal program" experienced by Sodom & Gomorrah, since gay peoples' "pleasure in doing evil" is "the one sin in the Bible that causes God to act swiftly":

- Says gays and gay marriage are signing America's "death warrant":

- Says pedophilia and bestiality are next:

- Says we were smarter when homosexuality was prosecuted:

- Says of LGBT activists: "Since they cannot produce they must recruit young people to their perverted, warped agenda. One cannot think of anything more nauseating, debased, lewd and immoral than recruiting precious young people into such shameful conduct."

- Claims that if "a generation endorses same-sex marriage, a generation will be the last generation on the face of the Earth" (see at :25)

So what does this sterling body of work earn Mr. Baity? Well, it earns him a top "pro-family" award, of course, personally handed to him by Family Research Council president (and popular TV pundit) Tony Perkins:

Pretty scary shit coming from the Israeli right...

[Link: www.haaretz.com...]

Following Wednesday's violent protest against African migrants in Tel Aviv, Likud MK Danny Dannon called to remove African asylum seekers from population centers in Israel.

Speaking to Haaretz, Dannon said that the immediate solution for calming the situation and for putting a stop to the violence requires the evacuation of the African migrants from south Tel Aviv.

"The infiltrators must be distanced immediately," he said. "We must expedite the construction of temporary detention facilities and remove Africans from population centers."

[...]

On Thursday, 17 demonstrators who were arrested during the protest were brought before the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for an extension of their remand.

Several of those arrested were detained while beating African migrants who passed on the street and shattering windows of businesses that tend to the foreign worker community.

Ukraine's Eurovision entry Gaitana 'ashamed' by racism

For an event meant to celebrate kitsch entertainment, the Eurovision Song Contest retains an almost unrivalled ability to cause controversy. That is certainly the case in Ukraine this year, where the run-up to the event has been marred by a row over racism.

The right-wing Freedom Party attacked the ground-breaking selection of a Gaitana - who is half Congolese - to represent Ukraine.

"Millions of people who will be watching will see that Ukraine is represented by a person who does not belong to our race," said Yuri Syrotyuk, whose party is preparing to contest the parliamentary elections later this year.

"The vision of Ukraine as a country located somewhere in remote Africa will take root," he added.

“I can’t speak for Donald Trump, Gloria, but I can tell you that Mitt Romney accepts that president obama was born in the United States. He doesn’t view the place of his birth as an issue in this campaign. We have many serious challenges facing this country dealing with jobs in the economy. That’s where we should center our discussion. And as I said, you know, Mitt Romney has made it clear that this is not an issue for him.”

Richard Coberts is a middle-aged businessman who is very self conscious about losing his thinning hair. His obsession about going bald and his means to keep his pride and self esteem intact has caused a riff between him and his long-suffering girlfriend Megan. When Richard answers a television ad about a 'miracle' hair transplant operation, he pays a visit to the office and meets the shady Dr. Lock whom, for a very large fee, agrees to give Richard a scalp treatment to make him grow his hair back. The next day, Richard wakes up and removes the bandage around his head left after the surgical procedure and is overjoyed that he has a stallion-style full set of hair. But over the next few days, Richard becomes increasingly sick and fatigued, and soon he finds himself growing hair on parts of his body (the palms of his hands, etc.) that do not grow hair at all. After trying to cut some off, he finds that his hair 'bleeds', and after examining it under a magnifying glass, sees that they are alive. Richard goes back to Dr. Lock for an explanation, but finds himself a prisoner as Dr. Lock explains that he and his entire staff are aliens from another planet who seek out narcissist humans and plant their seeds of hair to grow and takeover their bodies for consumption as part of their plan to spread their alien essence to the planet. Richard was just their latest victim among so many.

Yeah, for some reason I don't have a recollection of this episode.

Wow, what a winner this lady is:

Woman won't recant rape story because she wants to keep $1.5M civil suit award

LONG BEACH, Calif. -- A former high school football star whose dreams of a pro career were shattered by a rape conviction burst into tears Thursday as a judge threw out the charge that sent him to prison for more than five years.

Brian Banks, now 26, pleaded no contest 10 years ago on the advice of his lawyer after a childhood friend falsely accused him of attacking her on their high school campus.

In a strange turn of events, the woman, Wanetta Gibson, friended him on Facebook when he got out of prison.

Brian Banks broke into tears after hearing that his rape conviction was dismissed Thursday.

In an initial meeting with him, she said she had lied; there had been no kidnap and no rape and she offered to help him clear his record, court records state.

But she refused to repeat the story to prosecutors because she feared she would have to return a $1.5 million payment from a civil suit brought by her mother against Long Beach schools.

During a second meeting that was secretly videotaped, she told Banks, "'I will go through with helping you but it's like at the same time all that money they gave us, I mean gave me, I don't want to have to pay it back," according to a defense investigator who was at the meeting.

I really hope they go after her for that. You can't have your cake and eat it too lady. You got an innocent man nailed on a rape conviction and sent him to Prison for 10 years, you don't get to walk away scot free and $1.5 M richer honey.

Krauthammer: Obama Should Have Given ‘Weaponry’ To Non-Violent Iranian Democracy Movement

Krauthammer said that President Obama should have ramped up rhetoric against Iran during the brutal crackdown on the Green Movement — the distinctly non-violent protest movement born out of Mir Hossien Moussavi’s failed 2009 presidential campaign. And when O’Reilly asked what else Obama could have done, Krauthammer said he should have armed the protesters and order a covert war against Iran:

O’REILLY: But what else could he have done except rhetoric?

KRAUTHAMMER: Weaponry — he could have done a lot of things. Rhetoric is one thing and not to support the legitimacy of the regime. Clandestine operations. Why do we have $50 billion in secret operations in the CIA if not for an opportunity like this? He was hands off. He did nothing and we lost one of the great opportunities in history.

In the last few days, there has been a lively discussion about whether the Obama campaign’s critisims of Bain are “in bounds” or whether such criticism are outside the realm of acceptable political debate.

Mitt Romney, for his part, has Obama’s criticism amounts to “attacking capitalism.”

Among those who hate capitalism, apparently, is Donald Trump. Last April, Trump described Romney’s experience at Bain as follows: “He’d buy companies, he’d close companies, he’d get rid of jobs.”

Problem 2) Clandestine Operations means you don't talk about them, so even if Obama did provide them with anything, he wouldn't tell anyone about it.

BOR POLL: 60% of Texas Republicans Think President Not Born in US; 21% "Not Sure"

As part of our year-long statewide polling series, BOR PAC and People Calling People conducted a survey of likely Republican primary voters. We defined "likely voter" to mean a registered voter who had voted in at least two of the last three Republican Primaries (2006, 2008, 2010). Calls were placed to a random subset of those voters May 15-16, 2012.

Fehrnstrom: We ‘Can’t Be Responsible’ For Donald Trump’s Birtherism

Top Mitt Romney aide Eric Fehrnstrom told CNN’s Gloria Borger on Friday that the candidate will not call off plans to hold an event with Donald Trump, despite his recent return to debunked conspiracy theories suggesting President Obama was not born in the United States. The Obama campaign had publicly called on Romney to stand up to Trump.

Borger pushed as to why Romney was publicly tying his campaign to Trump if he disagreed with his conspiracy theories.

“Well, you know, not too long ago, Jay Carney, the spokesman for the White House made a statement which I think is correct, and that statement was that a candidate can’t be responsible for everything that their supporters say,” Fehrnstrom said. ”And in this case, Mitt Romney has made it clear that the place of the president’s birth is not an issue for him. He accepts the fact that he was born in Hawaii. And we have many important challenges facing our country, and that’s what we’d rather talk about.”

In April, the Romney campaign resoundingly condemned a Democratic strategist with no role in the Obama campaign, Hillary Rosen, for comments she made about Ann Romney’s work experience, arguing she was a proxy for the White House’s views.

The so-called "liberal" media is afraid to utter the r word.

Responsibility only applies to dirty harlots who can't keep their legs shut!

re: #158 Patricia Kayden

Romney hasn't denounced any of the crazy Rightwingers -- not Limbaugh, not Nugent, not Trump.

No backbone, no principals. Hopefully, no future in the White House.

Why would he denounce them? Those are the people he needs if he's going to have any hope of winning.

The GOP base hates Romney on principle because of Romneycare, because he's a Mormon, and because they consider him a spineless flip-flopper. He NEEDS the gibbering wingnuts to put in a good word for him with the troglodyte base. The day he denounces any of them is the day after he concedes the election to Barack Obama.

What is Mitts official @ addy?

I think @teamromney. There's an @MittRomney but it isn't certified. It makes sense he'd have a team site and not an individual one because he can't think for himself.

I should also state the models for this system are showing some hilarious tracks that are staying consistent.

The models are all saying that the system, which is off the GA/SC coastline, will stop its northeastern track, and shoot off to the Southwest, striking somewhere between Daytona and Charleston, then turn around and go back into the Atlantic.

In short, wherever this is going to hit is gonna get drenched.

Should note that model thing I was looking at at Wunderground was older, and the system is more off of NC now.

From the linked article..

"He'll stand up next to Donald Trump and he'll talk about why he wants to be president," Madden said in an interview on MSNBC. "Any time the subject goes off of that, where it's something where...Governor Romney would disagree, he's going to make that very clear. Just as he has in the past, and he'll do in the present, and he'll do in the future."

Mitt could use that same logic to justify sharing the stage with white supremacists, Anti-Semites, Conspiracy kooks, Religious fanatics, anti-science dingbats, heck anyone at all. In other words, there is no minimum standard for who he will elicit support from. Anything goes.

Birtherism demonstrates how conspiracy theories can never die.

Any proof that refutes the conspiracy theory is just evidence of how far the other side will go to conceal the truth.
