What Right Wing Racism? “This Is How We Feed Animals”

Sickening
Wingnuts • Views: 32,517

Two RNC attendees were ejected from the convention yesterday after they threw peanuts at an African American CNN camerawoman, yelling, “This is how we feed animals.”

The right wing base, comfortable in its closed loop echo chamber, lets it all hang out. These are the people to whom Mitt Romney is appealing with his false claims about Obama’s welfare policies and his Birther “jokes.”

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Two people were removed from the Republican National Convention Tuesday after they threw nuts at an African-American CNN camera operator and said, “This is how we feed animals.”

Multiple witnesses observed the exchange and RNC security and police immediately removed the two people from the Tampa Bay Times Forum.

The convention released a statement saying, “Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated.”

CNN also acknowledged the incident, saying, “CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.”

CNN “will have no further comment?” Really? No follow-up at all?

How in the world did a major news network become so appallingly incurious?

Since both CNN and the GOP don't want to talk about it, my guess would be low-level wingnut media types. College Republicans are an outside guess.

That they were removed with statements regarding their "deplorable behavior" is to the RNC credit. Had the crowd around them cheered and the cretins not been removed, it would have been a very different story but that didn't happen. Race-baiting has been a fixture on the campaign trail without question. In this case, it was a couple of idiot, racist assholes and it would be unfair to paint the entire crowd by their behavior.

On the plus side, they were thrown out. On the minus side, the GOP will learn nothing from this.
And on the depressing side, no-one is surprised.

Racists by and large are not smart, but a camera operator? That implies these two didn't mind being recorded behaving this way. Unless the lens cap was on.

I'd like to believe the RNC did the right thing by ejecting these two, but the bottom line is that they were thrown out because they were an embarrassment.

Remember, this is the same audience that booed a gay soldier, cheered for letting people without insurance simply die, and booed Juan Williams for asking a question about the candidates' race-baiting.

Not a fluke.

12 kirkspencer  Wed, Aug 29, 2012 11:38:34am

I'm still wondering:
are these delegates or other officials, or are they 'just' attendees?
Were they ejected from the room or the convention?

13 Shiplord Kirel  Wed, Aug 29, 2012 11:39:56am

Some years a neo-nazi was thrown out of his own gang's rally for using racial slurs toward Geraldo Rivera, who was there covering the event. Many Klan and Nazi groups have similar policies at public events. The convention's willingness to expel these two is not particularly to the party's credit, it is the bare minimum one might expect.

Considering that the leadership went to the length of shutting out Paulian delegates just to avoid a major upset on the convention floor, my guess is CNN's scared that they'll get barred from further coverage somehow.

CNN's willingness to conceal the identities of these two is very odd. They may not know the names, though a major news organization should probably be able to find out. CNN, though, didn't even give a general description. What is that about?

17 A Mom Anon  Wed, Aug 29, 2012 11:43:40am

CNN is scared of these asshats, that's why they're being so incurious. If they weren't scared they would have reacted differently.

I truly wonder how many threats GOP members of congress and local level office holders get from their own extremists? In the past few years I've seen seemingly reasonable people, who embody the word conservative(the dictionary definition, not our modern political one) move into this awful, unreasonable hard right stance and I really wonder if they've been threatened to take that stance with threats of violence or personal exposure of some kind if they don't. An older neighbor of mine who used to be quite active in local politics says he's heard of local office holders being threatened with violence on more than one occasion for daring to challenge the tea party on some of their more ridiculous stances. So I wonder if this happens more often than we know.

Russell Pearce’s Disastrous Arizona Campaign Is Over

Immigration hardliner Russell Pearce’s burning desire to return to office in Arizona got doused with cold water on Tuesday night when he lost the Republican primary for state Senate to a moderate businessman who took a softer tone on immigration.

It was the second time in less than a year that Pearce, a tea party favorite who was once one of the most powerful politicians in Arizona, was put to bed by a moderate and it marked the end of a disastrous attempt to regain his standing in state politics.

His campaign was marred by typos, fundraising problems, an uproar that involved him questioning the bravery of the Colorado massacre victims and a murder-suicide carried out by a former friend.

When the voting was done, Bob Worsley, the wealthy founder of the in-flight shopping company SkyMall, was on top 56 percent to 44 percent, and journalists were being kicked out of Pearce’s election night party in Mesa, Ariz.

“This is the same Russell Pearce who said he’d never lose a primary,” political organizer Randy Parraz told the Arizona Republic on Tuesday. “He misjudged the fact that he was no longer a conservative Republican — he was an extreme tea party Republican. There’s no comeback for Russell Pearce — he’s done.”

I'm reliably informed by the MBF that if attendees at the Democratic convention treated an African-American camerawoman in the same way, they'd also be tossed out and the convention organizers would also publicly deplore their behavior.

So it's all kind of even.

I don't think it will have legs. Probably nothing on tape (partially assuming the peanuts were tossed from behind the camerawoman, not from in front of the lens while it was on.) So it then will quickly boil down to a verbal "he said, she said" thing - and that doesn't sell since we already have a couple million talking heads about and the footage of a weatherman getting rained on by Isaac is going to appear more exciting.

They might be identified if security took their names while escorting them out - but there is probably some rules/procedure protecting the release of that information.

Besides, someone can have fun starting a rumor that the peanut throwers were a false-flag event planted by the Obama campaign.

The thing is, CNN has a template they can follow for this sort of story, where one of their employees is badly mistreated, and that template was how the set up CNN reporter responded to James O'keefe's planned sexual harassment:

[Link: edition.cnn.com...]

Though, putting myself in the camerawoman's shoes, I'd have to think really long and hard before allowing myself to be interviewed about the incident. You never know whether or not the Right will decide to come after the messenger in situations like this, smearing them and making them into the latest RW villain.

re: #3 Expand Your Ground

RNC has no interest in having them identified and interviewed. Or made into heroes/martyrs of "free speech".

It would definitely interfere with the ambience the RNC is trying to create. I saw on NBC News last night that the delegations from the Marianas Islands, US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico had been seated front and center so that camera pans of the crowd would be appealingly diverse. For the GOP, diversity is an aesthetic to be created for appearance's sake.

Even with 30-year-old tech, it is possible to use a large array of omnidirectional microphones in fixed locations, record the audio separately from each, and subsequently "tune" the individual delays to make the array effectively one huge highly directional microphone, which can "home in" on any particular local conversation in any huge crowd. With modern tech, this can be done in real-time, and needn't be limited to one conversation at a time.

Here's the thing...if CNN were to publish the names of the people involved (There's nothing like naming and shaming to prevent others from doing the same), the GOP wouldn't restrict their access...the last thing they need or want right now is one of the major news networks NOT covering their every move.

re: #65 Brother Holy Cruise Missile of Mild Acceptance

My God, you didn't say it was quite so insulting (although I suppose I should have seen that coming).

“A mother and wife speaking like she did, I think it appeals a lot to Hispanic women,” Martinez said.

He said that the personal anecdotes Romney told also reach out to Hispanics looking to claim their piece of the American Dream.

“That story that Ann Romney told last night about tuna and pasta and the basement apartment,” he said. “The aspirational hopes of every Latino in this country is that someday they can be the millionaire.”

If they really think minority voters are that goddamned dumb, maybe it's no wonder they don't want them to vote.

So who is he supporting for President? Why, Mitt Romney, of course! The same Mitt Romney who essentially told the auto industry to go die in a corner, and then tried to claim the credit when it got saved.

re: #94 Big Steve

He's a Republican??? Wow. I guess I would tune in to hear him.

Political life of Clint Eastwood

Eastwood registered as a Republican in order to vote for Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and he passively supported Richard Nixon's 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns. He later criticized Nixon's handling of the Vietnam War and his morality during Watergate.[2][3] He usually describes himself as a libertarian in interviews.[4] He told USA Weekend in 2004, "I don't see myself as conservative, but I'm not ultra-leftist. ... I like the libertarian view, which is to leave everyone alone. Even as a kid, I was annoyed by people who wanted to tell everyone how to live."[5]

At times, he has supported Democrats in California, such as the liberal and environmentally concerned Representative Sam Farr in 2002. Eastwood contributed $1,000 to Farr's successful re-election campaign that year and on May 23, 2003, he hosted a $5,000-per-ticket fundraiser for California's Democratic governor, Gray Davis.[6] Later that year, Eastwood offered to film a commercial in support of the embattled governor,[7] and in 2001, the star visited Davis' office to support an alternative energy bill written by another Democrat, California State Assemblyman Fred Keeley.

Eastwood disapproved of America's wars in Korea (1950–1953), Vietnam (1964–1975), and Iraq (2003–2011), believing that the United States should not be overly militaristic or play the role of global policeman. He considers himself too individualistic to be either right-wing or left-wing, and has described himself as a "political nothing" and a "moderate".[3]

During the 2008 United States Presidential Election, Eastwood endorsed John McCain for President; he has known McCain since 1973.[8] Upon the election of Barack Obama, Eastwood stated "Obama is my president now and I am going to be wishing him the very best because it is what is best for all of us."[9]

In August 2010, Eastwood wrote to the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom, George Osborne, to protest the decision to close the UK Film Council. Eastwood warned that the closure could result in fewer foreign production companies choosing to work in the UK.[10][11]

Todd Akin's Best Friend Mike Huckabee Takes RNC Stage Tonight

I’m not sure what the RNC schedulers were thinking, but Mike Huckabee is set to “legitimate rape” back on the map tonight – a mere two speeches ahead of Paul Ryan. To be sure, the former Arkansas governor and Fox News personality will be on his best behavior, but Huckabee is inextricably linked with Todd “legitimate rape” Akin. And as we’ll explore, Huckabee’s own record is even more extreme and disturbing than Akin’s.
Huckabee, who prominently endorsed Akin in his recent primary, quickly emerged as his top defender in the wake of Akin’s controversial remarks. He publicly chastised Republican leaders for ditching Akin and sent out a fundraising appeal to his list. Akin even made the announcement that he was staying in the race on Huckabee’s radio show.

In the course of defending Akin, Huckabee made it known that some “extraordinary things” have resulted from rape:

And so I know it happens, and yet even from those horrible, horrible tragedies of rape, which are inexcusable and indefensible, life has come and sometimes, you know, those people are able to do extraordinary things.

No word on if he'll repeat that everyone in the US should be forced at gunpoint to listen to David Barton, GOP Platform Guru.

-John Adams did not vote for high-speed rail.
-Liberal revisionists have misrepresented Ben Franklin's membership in the Hellfire Club. It was actually a Bible class that tried to keep English aristocrats out of hell.

Republicans Debate How Much To Cut Education While China And India Invest More

A new report shows that other nations like China and India have out-invested the U.S. in their education systems as strategies to become more competitive internationally. While U.S. 15-year-old students rank 14th in reading, 17th in science and 25th in math, governments in China and India have expanded to make major investments in early childhood learning, expanded primary and secondary school public education systems, and post-secondary degree programs that produce career-ready workers.

China has gone from spending less than $2 billion on social investments (including education) to $117 billion in 2006, leading the country to become the world’s largest provider of higher education by 2010. By 2030, it will have 200 million college graduates, meaning that there will be more Chinese college grads than total U.S. workers. India has similarly grown its investment in public education from $11 billion a year in the late 1980s to $44 billion in 2008. In 1947, more than 80 percent of Indians were illiterate. Today, the number has plummeted to 25 percent.

So while the Republican Party argues amongst itself about the role of government in education, other nations have agreed on strategies, invested in them, and are putting them into practice. It’s time for Republicans to stop embracing the far right wing in their party and do what’s right for students and the nation.

In fact, Jacobs revealed that the accountant at Generals International had a dream about a terrorist attack being planned for Dallas and so the staff began to pray that the police would launch a sting operation and "it was exposed the next day, so we know that God used that prayer":

Thats right folks, her prayers saw to it that God set up a police sting operations months in advance. PRAISE BE!

What a fucking moron.

It terrifies me that people in my country think that some magical sky master is orchestrating the every move of the world around them.

Scares me shitless.

POTUS will be on Reddit today:

I hope they've done their homework on how to do a successful Reddit IAmA, for example you can score some easy points by pandering with some geek culture references :P. You also need to answer a decent # of questions, or you risk backlash. Oh, and they should be prepared for some medical marijuana, WoD and internet regulation questions.

If only GWB had enlisted the prayer warriors back when he was given that "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." briefing.

They apparently believe the proposition that you can petition the Lord with prayer.

Hmmm..I'm wondering how that will go over. There are certainly a lot of Obama fans on reddit but AMA's can go bad. Reddit takes the Ask Me Anything thing seriously. If someone is just there to campaign or promote a movie or refuses to answer questions the mob can turn quickly.

Why didn't God just give the terrorist a heart attack or smite him with bees or something like that as soon as he started planning his attack?

If they go to comic books, he's got them.

Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

Yes, I'll vote for Romney, against my best interest to please her. //

This is by far the most incompetent campaign I've seen. And we are still 2 months from the election.

166 Decider  Wed, Aug 29, 2012 3:48:46pm

We will see much worse than this from the GOP before election day. I fully expect to hear the N-word being said at Romney campaign events and on Fox News.
