Fox’s Greg Gutfeld: Women Should Have No Right to Donate Fetal Tissue for Research

“I hope you live long on the backs of dead fetuses”
Wingnuts • Views: 78,582

Media Matters

You knew this was coming, and Fox News angry manbaby Greg Gutfeld is now going there. Gutfeld says women should have no right to donate fetal tissue for medical research.

He compares this to the second amendment, saying you have a right to own a gun but you don’t have a right to shoot your gun “wherever you want.” I know. It makes no sense at all. This is where the right wing has ended up on this issue — in total hateful incoherence.

Amazingly, Geraldo Rivera actually sounds like a reasonable person in this clip. For once. Rivera points out that medical research helps scientists find cures for diseases, and saves lives, and Gutfeld responds with, “I hope you live long on the backs of dead fetuses, Geraldo.”

Women Should Have No Right

im so glad we live in a time and place where there are people to decide for us what is right and wrong

What about the parents of children who have been born, but die before reaching majority? Would Gutfield prohibit THEM from donating organs?

No woman should have that right to donate something that came out of their bodies. Only old white men should be able to make that decision.

This is a great example of why it’s pointless to try to “debate” with these people. They have no concept of honest argument, and they don’t even listen to the other side. They’re just doing the Gutfeld Gallop, spewing as much craziness as they can come up with off the top of their heads, just to club their opponents into submission.

Horrible, horrible people with no decency or ethics.

He like any good conservative is a beneficiary of liberalism, he just hates being reminded about why we have progress in things we take for granted. If we had did things his way, this country never would have become as great as it has.

It’s easy to write this off as some clown liking to hear himself talk and creating “rage entertainment”. It does real damage though because it actually resonates with some bizarre section of the population and convinces them that they are right. These same people then go out and parade their Gasden flag.

No need for research, we’ll just blow up any mean old disease that rears its head. It’s certain that Gutfeld won’t mind having to go to the nations that aren’t prevented by people like him from doing fundamental research for cures and remediation in the future.

Gutfeld is a incompetent insane douchecanoe. And now since he’s made his ridiculous statement, if it comes to the point that in order to save his life it takes a monoclonal antibody derived by fetal tissue, I hope he’s man enough to decline to take that treatment.

Gutfeld is a flaming asshole-how he managed to get a position on Fox is a mystery.

Bullshit.

If MS and WV can get full vaccinations and don’t even allow religious exemption (only medically allowed exemptions), then the rest of the country can and should follow suit.

Oh, and how about a cost/benefit analysis? Something that a supposed business wiz would understand?

Why the hell would you knowingly take a position that will expose people to entirely preventable diseases that cost the health care system money and time that can be devoted to other diseases. You burden the health care system with preventable costs - hospitalizations, contact tracing, etc., to say nothing of lost wages and time for those caring for the sickened.

And you knowingly put others at risk who might not be able to get vaccinated.

BlueGrl21  Aug 13, 2015 • 6:10:24pm

Mr. Gutfeld, you seem to be uneducated about the reality of women terminating their pregnancies…you cannot stop it. Seriously. Rant and moan and try the courts and legislatures all you want. Even if for some reason you win, you still will NEVER win.

The first prohibition against abortion was in Hammurabi’s code. ~1700 BCE. Didn’t work.

First record of a medical abortion, ~1500 BCE. Still here.

It’s not really about abortion. It’s about the fact that women can choose to abort a child and there is nothing you can do about it. That’s reality. We may die in the process but so will the fetus. You cannot ever force us to maintain a pregnancy. Because we’re the ones that have them. The hand that rocks the cradle rocks the world, you know.

So, I’m really sorry you can’t grow a baby. I’m sure if you could you would happily carry 15 pregnancies! Good on you, sir!

I suggest you make a good thing from something that is going to happen anyway and save those lives you care so very much about. Then we can talk about PAP smears and mammograms, right? As educated as you are about women’s health concerns, I am confident you know that uterine, ovarian, and breast cancers comprise 46% of the new cancer diagnosis in women each year?

No? Huh.

On behalf of women everywhere, thank you for your concerns, Mr. Gutfeld. Go fuck yourself.

Have a blessed day!

Naw, makes perfect sense to me. Two reasons from my perspective: One, the show was brilliant, so even half a dozen episodes left their mark; Two, the visual scenery/backdrop design was consistent, so seeing it over and over in those episodes would make it stand out when seen again, as in this gif…

But for me, its primarily the first point - the show was brilliant, pure and simple.
And Ivanova is god.

Economists have expressed skepticism at Mr. Bush’s promise of 4 percent growth, so Mr. Huckabee’s 6 percent plan may cause even more raised eyebrows.

Mr. Huckabee said his Fair Tax would encourage businesses to repatriate $11 trillion that they had parked overseas and ignite a national manufacturing boom. “Folks, it’s not enough for us to have an idea and design and create something,” he said. “We have to make the things that we create.”

Yep. Only two non natural lefties since Ford are Carter and W Bush. Ford, Reagan, H.W Bush, Clinton, and Obama are all lefties. Haven’t read anything about the handiness of any of the candidates running in both parties this time though. I’m always interested being obviously a lefty.

Cumia appeared on the white supremacist radio show Political Cesspool. That’s the end of the line. As far as I’m concerned, defend anyone who chooses to go on that show and your LGF account will be history.

I recently found out about 91.7FM KKXT playing here in the Dallas area. It’s a music stationed owned and run by NPR. Member supported, it plays a lot of local bands, music from about the last 50ish years, and songs I definitely wouldn’t hear about on other stations. If you’re not in Dallas, you can stream it at kxt.org. Their last few song’s have been:

Walken - Wilco
Steady as She Goes - The Raconteurs
Breaking Glass - Nick Lowe
Ship to Wreck - Florence + the Machine
Audience - Cold War Kids
The Way - Fastball
Two Weeks - Grizzly Bear
Orange Crush - REM
Things Happen - Dawes
Campdown - The Clash
Taylor - Jack Johnson
Sedona - Houndmouth
Right in Time - Lucinda Williams

I’ve also heard Iggy Pop, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson. I’ve gone from mostly keeping the radio off to listening to this all the time.

80s had some great comedy movies, both dark and light. Monty Python’s Meaning of Life, Brazil, Raising Arizona, Beetlejuice.

Some good music from The Pixies, The Smiths, etc. However MTV was doing a good job of messing the whole industry up causing the situation we have now…great bands lost in total obscurity and corporate crap everywhere else.

Strange time in the country. Conservative politics took a nasty turn. Yuppie days of consumption and cocaine. Crack rocks in the cities. Everyone shooting each other and the real ramp up in guns and God thinking. Bland takeover by big box stores, strip malls and vinyl-clad houses. Ugh.

Prairie, I put safety pins in my earring holes in the late 70’s. Saw the B-52’s when they played Dance This Mess Around on the hand held kid piano. Was front row for the Ramones, crushed against the stage in fear of death.

Then I put on the Madonna gear. Then came the 80’s hair bands.

We rocked.

I listened to what music you could get on AM, plus the 8-tracks and cassettes my friends had. Plus local bar bands that played a lot of Foghat, ZZ Topp, and Aerosmith.

Thankfully for me, the local head shop & record store imported a whole lot of stuff better than what was usually on the radio. The Clash, Madness, XTC, The Specials, U2 before they were big, Peter Gabriel’s three self titled albums, The Boomtown Rats, Ian Druy, Nick Lowe, Patty Smith Group, Television, The Replacements, Husker Du, Urban Guerrillas and so much other good stuff. I could put up with the radio because I knew when it got too bad, I had mix tapes better than anything they’d play.

I was wearing something like that, only blue, with sequins and more skin, on an early Howdy Doody show :)

Most of what you liked weren’t found on commercial radio stations, but were pretty big on college radio. They also found a good deal of airtime on MTV before the major label acts monopolized (and eventually killed) the music video genre.

Some of it was, but only some. The somewhat older kids running the local college radio had their own tastes and prejudices too. The really hated it when on our shows we’d go from REM to Rush to XTC to The Clash to Led Zeppelin or Triumph. LOL

500 people in my town. So small we had to pool kids with two other towns to have a high school with more than one section per grade. At that, my graduating class was like 104.

The nearby Metropolis of Gettysburg had about 7000 people.

The station that I listened to in college pretty much stayed away from heavy metal and prog rock- those got plenty of airtime on the conventional stations.

However, a typical Sunday evening went from New Wave in early evening to Doctor Demento during primetime hours to New Age Jazz & Electronic music after 10PM. A REALLY eclectic mixture.

They’d need a square sensor to do that, which raises other issues. It’s not a bad idea but then both designers and end users would be forced to make choices they /we are not accustomed to making. Do we just leave everything square, or crop the tops and bottoms to make a more friendly aspect ratio? Do we make the square sensor larger than the circle of light, consign the corners to darkness and process the falloff, or do we make it smaller like we do now and accept a constrained long dimension?

Mineral rights laws in this nation pretty much enable the holder of those rights to completely fuck up whatever is on the surface to get to their minerals.

I learned one really nasty thing back when I worked as an intern at Leighton & Assoc in Orange County, California.

If you produce toxic waste chemicals…you are on the hook for them forever under federal law.

Yes, forever.

The case I was read into by one of the staff geologists was an incident of waste producers dumping their chemicals with a licensed disposal vendor who did not dispose of the chemicals in a class III (I think) landfill. He stored them on his private property, pocketed the money and fled the country.

Everybody who had left their waste products with him in good faith got smacked upside the head and had to pay for the cleanup. It was up to them to try and track the guy down overseas and try to sue him. (yeah, that’s gonna work)

Member supported, it plays a lot of local bands, music from about the last 50ish years, and songs I definitely wouldn’t hear about on other stations. If you’re not in Dallas, you can stream it at kxt.org. Their last few song’s have been:

Walken - Wilco
Steady as She Goes - The Raconteurs
Breaking Glass - Nick Lowe
Ship to Wreck - Florence + the Machine
Audience - Cold War Kids
The Way - Fastball
Two Weeks - Grizzly Bear
Orange Crush - REM
Things Happen - Dawes
Campdown - The Clash
Taylor - Jack Johnson
Sedona - Houndmouth
Right in Time - Lucinda Williams

I’ve also heard Iggy Pop, Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson. I’ve gone from mostly keeping the radio off to listening to this all the time.

The 2015 Official UW-System Faculty Exodus Update Part 2: The “Everyone’s Leaving” Edition

A few weeks ago I found out one of my closest colleagues will be leaving the UW Colleges for another job. It’s a better fit for my colleague, she and her partner will be closer to family, but I will miss her dearly. And if not for years of budget cuts and this last year from hell, I can’t help but think she’d have stayed. We both got tenure last year and often talked about loving the student population we worked with. But she’s not the only one. The emails keep rolling in. More colleagues leaving-not for better pay, not because they didn’t love their jobs, but because of uncertainty. With the new regionalization model and now discussion of a merger of the Wisconsin Technical College System and the University of Wisconsin Colleges and Extension, we are living in a realm of uncertainty. As Representative Katrina Shankland said, “Now that Republican legislators have decimated our public universities, we should get a freshman legislator with no experience in higher education to conduct a study on how we can ‘realign’ them,’ said no one ever.’”

My fellow colleagues who teach in the UW College system do so because they believe in the Wisconsin Idea. They believe in being great teachers above all else, and are some of the finest colleagues I’ve ever had the opportunity of working with.

And now many of them are leaving. Because they simply don’t know if the UW Colleges will even exist in one year or two. And that is enough to put anyone on the job market. As I stated in my letter to the Joint Finance Committee, “I simply can’t imagine what my campus and others will look like next year. Our mission is central to the Wisconsin Idea. The UW Colleges are the UW System’s open door, offering an affordable and accessible option for thousands of students. We offer the first two years of a liberal arts education with an Associate of Arts and Science degree, and six campuses currently offer a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences degree-completion program. We have the lowest tuition in the UW System and offer students the opportunity to pursue a degree while living in their home community at our campuses, online, or through the UW Flexible Option program. We serve more part-time students, more adult undergraduates, and more first-generation college students than any other UW institution. In fact, 60% of our students are the first in their families to go to college. Students from the UW Colleges graduate from 4-year campuses at a 20% higher rate than any other transfer group, including those from technical schools, private schools, and 4-year campuses. And our students—the Wisconsinites staying within their communities, seeking a college degree to improve their lives and others’ in these communities—are the ones who will be most hurt by these cuts.”

Sacred Troubling Topics in Tanakh, New Testament, and Qur’an

Abrahamic sacred texts continue to inspire a diversity of scholarship that seeks to transform the ancient into the contemporary, the remote into the immediate, and the distant into the visceral experience. This panel takes that process into the examination of troubling topics, often overlooked, yet found in the Tanakh, New Testament, and Qur’an. Building from foundational texts, other sacred works such as Talmud, Apocrypha, Patristics, and Hadith as well as philosophy and contemporary scholarship can be brought into play. Views from global perspectives are enthusiastically invited so as to better contribute to diversity and freshness of the dialogue. Some presenters may focus on one sacred text and the ancillary works; others may contextualize all three sacred texts. Although the goal is to present a spectrum of insights, the strategy is text-based and ruminations spring from textual pericope. Suggested troubling topics include but are not limited to the following: racism, domestic violence, suicide, sexuality, unbeliever, LGBTQ, misogyny, trickster, humor, fallible prophet, good vs./and evil, self-denial, spying, deception, change. This panel continues an exploratory tradition begun with Sacred Tropes: Tanakh, New Testament, and Qur’an as Literature and Culture (Brill 2009). Proposals are 250 words submitted via the acla.org website. Contact Roberta Sabbath at sabbath@unlv.nevada.edu

If you’re not a ho or a bitch, don’t be jumping to the defense of these despicable females. Just like I shouldn’t be jumping to the defense of no punks or no cowards or no slimy son of a bitches that’s men. 2 If you buy a Hebrew servant, he is to serve you for six years. But in the seventh year, he shall go free, without paying anything. 3 If he comes alone, he is to go free alone; but if he has a wife when he comes, she is to go with him. 4 If his master gives him a wife and she bears him sons or daughters, the woman and her children shall belong to her master, and only the man shall go free.

5 But if the servant declares, ‘I love my master and my wife and children and do not want to go free,’ 6 then his master must take him before the judges. He shall take him to the door or the doorpost and pierce his ear with an awl. Then he will be his servant for life.

7 If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as male servants do. 8 If she does not please the master who has selected her for himself, he must let her be redeemed. He has no right to sell her to foreigners, because he has broken faith with her. 9 If he selects her for his son, he must grant her the rights of a daughter. 10 If he marries another woman, he must not deprive the first one of her food, clothing and marital rights. 11 If he does not provide her with these three things, she is to go free, without any payment of money.

Hundreds of millions still think this is God’s word.

From the nitpick dept:

KKXT is not “owned and operated by NPR.” NPR is a program producer in Washington. It doesn’t own or operate any of its local member stations. KKXT is owned and operated by North Texas Public Broadcasting (KERA-TV/FM). It is indeed a great station.

Not a nitpick. NPR is on the RW hitlist, and it’s important to keep the fields of fire clear.

No matter how adherents of ancient religions (not only the Abrahamic ones) explain away the problematic statements contained in the ancient religious literature, no matter how they reinterpret them or sometimes outright deny them, there will always be a minority striving for “authenticity”, “true roots” and so on, who will take them seriously.

There was a time when RedEye with Greg Gutfeld was actually a quite obscenely funny little chat show. The banter was always great and the hedonistic and quite often homo-erotic back and forth between the three regulars and their guests was fantastic.

Of course there always was a tendency to punch down, which is always the case with conservative politics, but could ignore it.

Then of course Greg had to get on his soap box at the beginning of the show and deliver yet another staple of the conservative variety, which was the daily airing of grievances and resentments with “the left”.

Even with that Greg never came off as a fascist like he does now, more of a right wing libertine really. For some reason once you start drinking that sweet right wing Kool-aid you lose what ever progressive social views you might of held previous.

I suppose once you get to the point of attaining your news from only one or two completely partisan sources, the more views you are bombarded with that openly contradict your previous perspective, the more those new and ridiculously reactionary views start to make more sense.

Thus is life in the bubble.

I wrote a page when he was running for the Senate about how he was a smarmy lying freak who’d sell his own kids down the river if it meant he could stay in Congress. Yeah, Cory Gardner fucking sucks. And he’s one of my Senators for the next five years.

He ran the better campaign last year. He adapted to counter the charge that his policies were anti-woman, and then gave a policy vision across a range of issues. Democrat Mark Udall, by contrast, stuck with a campaign that relied greatly on emphasizing women’s issues.

This is not to denigrate the concerns of women, but Udall focused on them to extent of seriously reducing the time spent addressing the concerns of Latinos (Latino men especially). Udall’s campaign seemed to think that Latinos would just vote for because Ken Buck was on the GOP ticket, but that did not happen. Udall lost the male vote by such a large margin that the drop-off in Latino support sealed his fate.

Unless it’s a for profit, an association, a think tank, et al, for them, go for whatever you can get. But charities? Schools? Nope. Nope. And for good measure…Nope.

I thought that was an interesting touch. Anyhow, with all respect to Americans of Cuban descent who did come here to escape the Castro regime, I am sorry that happened but I am tired of the Cuban exile community acting like Cuba is an unique tyrannical regime and that we shouldn’t deal with them. We deal with other far worse regimes than Cuba. As an American of Czechoslovak and Yugoslavian descent, I will add that we still had embassies in Prague and Belgrade during the Cold War. I mean FFS we do tons with the PRC. We even have a sort of buddy relationship with the Saudis. So my message to the Cuban exiles pissed off about this with all respect, stop acting like you’re the only people who have fled an oppressive regime in this country.

You’re right.

First, you need to understand what kinds of trips to Cuba are allowed. In January, Obama expanded the list of categories — to 12 — for approved travel to Cuba. These now comprise humanitarian projects; religious activities; educational activities; professional research; and participating in an athletic event or making a public performance, like playing an instrument in a concert. What’s more, if you fall within one of the 12 categories (read the guidelines for each category), you no longer need to submit a written request to the Office of Foreign Assets Control to be permitted to go to Cuba.

My in-laws go to Cuba all the time (they’re Canadians). Cuba, apparently, doesn’t stamp passports, it uses Post-It Notes. I would never chance it (being American) but all my in-laws love it there. Sinking bridge closes 50 miles of I-65 in Indiana

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — An I-65 bridge that dropped 9 inches last week while construction crews worked to widen it has closed 50 miles of a major artery between Indianapolis and Chicago.

And northbound traffic on Interstate 65 will have to take a 60-mile detour around the bridge over Wildcat Creek for the foreseeable future, Indiana Department of Transportation officials said. Traffic is being diverted from I-65 just north of Lebanon, Ind., to U.S. 52, then to Indiana 28 at Clarks Hill and to U.S. 231 at Romney.

“We would hesitate to give any kind of timeline at this time,” state highway Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson said. “It will probably be later in the week before we really get our arms around some of the more viable solutions.”

It’s still closed, but who needs infrastructure?

sigh

That Shaw question was such a pathetic one to ask. And maybe it’s my personality but I am fine with how he answered it, perhaps he could have shown a little more emotional but he was firm in his belief that even if a loved one of his was raped and murdered that he would still oppose the DP out of principle, I respect that, I respect that far more than someone who does a tough on crime talk and doesn’t understand the realities of the justice system. I also think even though he looked silly in that tank, I will point out that Michael Dukakis was a vet too. More than you can say about another Massachusetts governor who ran 24 years later.

I keep on saying it. The GOP may have a bigger bench but your bench is useless if they all do the same things. To use baseball again, it’s like having a bench only with power hitters. The Dem bench has power hitters, guys that can steal a base, and good contact hitters. The GOP base just has guys that are pretty much saying the same things that every Republican candidate since Reagan has said. The Dem bench has someone as lefty as Sanders and righty as Webb. There’s no where near that range of philosophies on the R bench even though nearly four times as much Republicans are running.

Carly’s attitude is a lot like of a lot of business people I’ve seen run for office. They think because they’ve been in charge of a business, they should be in charge of your state or in this case our country. It’s an arrogance. I mean obviously there are some skills being an executive that help as president but so does being a bartender and as cool as it would be to get a barkeep in the White House, nope. I’d be more impressed if Fiorina hadn’t fucked the pooch at HP. More impressed if Trump hadn’t had to declare bankruptcy not once, not twice, and I think not even thrice but several times. I really do value prior elected experience because you get a perspective on to how government works. My ideal candidate would possess both executive and legislative experience.

Yes and no. The national discussion the past week has been about all the tactics. The peaceful demonstrations have been overshadowed by the kid who was recently shot in ferguson and the rally disruptions of Bernie, Hillary, and Jeb. I suppose one group seeks to ignore the outliers while the other side seeks to focus on them. My preference is to get rid of the outliers so there isn’t that built-in distraction.

So, Hannity and Coulter are cool with The Donald™ changing political thinking from previous progressive stances to today’s bad ass conservative.

That must mean should TRUMP® do the political maneuver from hard-ass conservative to get the nomination to a more progressive moderate in the general election they’d have no problems with him.

I’m not saying Trump would do that, but I wouldn’t rule it out either. I don’t think you can trust a damn thing that comes out of his mouth and for sure no one has any idea what he would really do about anything except that it would be the greatest whatever ever.

He said U.S. automakers could shift production away from Michigan to communities where autoworkers would make less. “You can go to different parts of the United States and then ultimately you’d do full-circle — you’ll come back to Michigan because those guys are going to want their jobs back even if it is less,” Trump said. “We can do the rotation in the United States — it doesn’t have to be in Mexico.”

He said that after Michigan “loses a couple of plants — all of sudden you’ll make good deals in your own area.”

I went to a guitar shop while I was there (because of course I went to a guitar shop!) and was talking to the owner, and I asked him about how getting guitars out of Canada goes.

He said there was no problem, and the only thing I could buy and not take back into the US was Cuban cigars.

That’s got to be one of the most stupid and petty laws ever.

That actually wouldn’t surprise me. NRO’s in the bank for whoever the establishment is so a guy like Carson who they probably feel “sullies the good name of conservatism” with his whacky shit being kneecapped to Jeb, Walker, or Rubio’s benefit would be fine with them.

The kid who was shot, I assume you are referring to Tyrone Harris, was not effing part of the BLM, and I can’t believe you actually tried to include him, as if it’s part of the BLM tactics.

Next, holy crap will you stop calling disrupting a rally ‘violent’? Yelling at a rally is not more violent than sitting at a lunch counter, it’s just louder.

And, if you actually watch the Dr. King on MTP video and all you came away with was that it was ‘awesome’, you need to go back, and actually listen to the questions they asked him and his response.

The sad part is BWS is that this kind of crap is actually endearing to the GOP base. They love hearing from a wealthy guy that other people make too much money. One day it’s teachers, today’s punching bag are the people who make the vehicles that we depend on to get from place to place.

The thing is, when you’re dealing with a bunch of people who are primarily concerned with their corporate and personal profit margins, they’re going to be wildly in favor of any idea or concept that nets them bigger paydays.

It’s the American corporate model: Fuck the environment, fuck the government, fuck the workers, fuck the law, fuck anything that gets in the way of us making money.

Once again I will note how odd it is that the people who most oppose the Marxist analysis of capitalism work hardest to prove it true.

One Sunday at the Baptist church, everyone was in their pews praying. The door bursts open and Satan walks in spitting fire and commanding thunder. The congregation is in terror and running everywhere trying to get away from the mayhem, except for one old man in the front pew. Satan stalks up to the man and demands, “Do you not know who I am? Do you not shudder in my presence?”. The old man looks up at him and says, “Why should I? I’ve been married to your sister for 55 years.”
