Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, Former President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi hold a Get Out The Vote rally at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (11-7-16) on November 7, 2016)

GOTV Rally on Independence Mall with Hillary Clinton, President Obama, Michelle Obama, President Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi.

At a rally the night before Election Day, Hillary Clinton will campaign in Philadelphia, joined by President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, President Bill Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, on Independence Mall on Monday, November 7. The Clintons and Obamas will also be joined at the event by Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi, who will perform.

With Independence Hall as the backdrop, Clinton will urge Pennsylvanians to make history on Tuesday by electing her president so she can continue pushing for the American ideals of progress, inclusion, equality and strength that our founders enshrined in our Constitution there in 1787.

UPDATE at 11/7/16 5:52:05 pm by Charles Johnson

Here’s a transcript of Bruce Springsteen’s powerful statement:

It’s an honor to be here with President and Mrs. Obama, President Clinton and Chelsea, and if we all do our part tomorrow, President Elect Clinton.

Yes, yes. The choice tomorrow couldn’t be any clearer. Hillary’s candidacy is based on intelligence, experience, preparation, and on an actual vision of an America where everyone counts, men and women, white and black, Hispanic and native, where folks of all faiths and backgrounds can come together to address our problems in a reasonable and thoughtful way.

That vision of America is essential to sustain, no matter how difficult its realization. Hillary sees an America where the issue of income distribution should be at the forefront of our national conversation, where the progress we’ve made in reducing unemployment is not enough, we must do better. She has a vision of universal health care for all that will build on the work of President Obama.

She sees an America that needs to be fairer, where our highest courts look to protect the rights of all of our citizens and not just the privileged. She sees an America where the issue of immigration reform is dealt with realistically and compassionately.

And she calls to an America that participates in the welfare of our planet, both in world affairs and in global science, and where the unfinished business of protecting the rights of women is not an afterthought but a priority.

It’s the country where we are indeed, and indeed we will all be stronger together.

Now briefly, to address her opponent… this is a man whose vision is limited to little beyond himself, who has the profound lack of decency that would allow him to prioritize his own interests and ego before American democracy itself.

Somebody who’d be willing to damage our long-cherished and admired system, rather than look to himself for the reasons behind his own epic failure. That’s unforgivable.

Tomorrow, those ideas and that campaign is going down.

Let’s all do our parts so we can look back on 2016 and say, “We stood with Hillary Clinton on the right side of history.”

That’s why I’m standing here with you tonight for the dream of a better America.

Hillary says if she wins, she will call Donald….

Hillary Clinton says she intends to call rival Donald Trump if she wins the presidency in Tuesday’s election.

The Democratic presidential nominee says in a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest that she hopes Trump will ”play a constructive role” in helping bring the country together.

Clinton says in an interview on the final day of campaigning that if she wins, she wants to bring together people who supported Trump for a ”national conversation” after the election. More at: bostonglobe.com

I almost have to wonder if he’ll accept the call.

IIJM, or does it seem to anyone else that Donald Trump is wasting/has wasted a lot of time in New Hampshire, relative to the gains he might get? It’s a small state with only 4 EVs, and, AFAICT, Hillary is polling well ahead in any case. Given that (thankfully!) there’s only one DT one would think that he’d spend his campaign time in states with more to gain - NC, maybe, or PA.

The biggest problem with the “secret Trump voter” theory is where a large enough block of new Trump votes could come from.

The hypothesis is that there’s a block of voters that either sat out in recent elections or voted for Obama that are newly attracted to the Republican party because of Trump’s campaign.

This is farcical on its face.

This is basically a version of the “missing white voter theory” that’s been haunting the right since at least 2004, or maybe 1984 (counting the Reagan Democrats as such). The problem is that they keep forgetting that, among other things, Republicans are generally older and thus more likely to need Ouija boards to cast votes in future elections.

Not even Republicans have found a way to double count the Reagan democrats. The GOP already has all the votes that can be plausibly gotten that way.

I haven’t done a decent photoshop in some time since I’ve gotten busy with my design work and other things.

I’ve had an idea for a couple months and when I could find time, I’d work on it a little bit more and more. Then I decided it needed words to go with it and to make it a page for Little Green Footballs.

Well, I just about ran out of time, but I did get it finished and up in time since it is a warning for the American voter.

I hope you like it, I’m not the best writer going…but as I said I wanted words for the image.

Stupid speaks as stupid thinks. O’Reilly probably thinks we blacks don’t like “The Boss,” Jon Bon Jovi, Lady Gaga, Madonna, and other Caucasian artists. Sure, we like the O’Jays, but we like good music no matter who produces it. I’ve been a fan of Creedence CR, Hall & Oates, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Simply Red, Bette Midler, Cher, and many others for almost 40 years. I’m so cruel, but Trump deserves every bit of ridicule I can throw at him. He’s been attacking President Obama for helping HRC to campaign. It’s not her fault that Bush I & II are staying as far away from him as they can get. Someone on his campaign team should have figured out a way to feature Reagan in a hologram since they won’t let the guy rest in peace. They could have created a script with him saying how really great a POTUS Trump would be. But then, these guys have little/no imagination to speak of.

Sounds like a game. Name 36 different genders. I figure the following:

Chromosomes: X, XX, XY, XXX, XXXX, XXXXX, XXY, XXXY, XYY.

Gender Identity: Male, Female.

Gender Style Preference: Male, Female. The idea behind this is that you can identify as a male, but have a feminine appearance

So, 9 * 2 * 2 = 36. I’m not including the preference of a mate, which I would put at, Male, Female, Both, None.

re: #200 HappyWarrior

I’ll have to check that out, thanks. Never heard of Carolina Chocolate Drops before either. Thanks. What I love about folk music especially older is how raw it feels. I got the Anthology of American Folk that inspired so much of the 60’s folk revival and it’s just so hauntingly beautiful and eerie also in a way knowing the artists on there are long gone. I’m especially into Celtic folk though. The Dubliners, Chieftains, and groups like that.

I was on a blues kick for a long while and ended up buying a Robert Johnson double album, greatest hits type thing. It has that same raw feel, he was probably singing into a tin can on every track. But I’ve found I really have to be in the mood for the really old stuff. Lately, it’s been a bit more rockabilly, but my tastes in music are rather eclectic, and will jump around a lot.

NH has a more elastic electorate than Pa and at times seemed to be closer in the polls, and could put Trump over 270 if he wins all the tossup states plus Maine’s 2d congressional district.

Honestly, I forget he’s a musician sometimes rather than the poster child for sensible gun laws that he is. Guys like Springsteen, yeah they’re politically involved but they’re still about the music too. Was funny, I was just telling my Dad about how the Pittsburgh Trumpers booed Born in the USA and his response was “I guess they really listened to their lyrics for once.” We also had a good laugh about how Reagan’s dipshit Interior Secretary banned the Beach Boys from the Mall.

Warren owed his job to swinging the California delegation to Ike at the 1952 Republican convention. I have a recipe for sweet potato pie that is supposed to have the consistency of custard. Thus old white woman is making that bad boy on thanksgiving.

None of us fit in a box. And that’s one reason I hate these conservative jerkwads.

I use my immersion blender to whip up the sweet potato and other ingredients.
The texture of the finished pie is amazing.
My sweet potato pie is famous around here.

Not familiar with him but I’m all for Hewitt squealing.

He used to appear on Hewitt’s radio show all the time, usually in a debate segment with John Eastman. Constitutional law professor, used to write/edit one of the more popular con law case books in the country. Now the Dean of UCI Law School. Apparently Bill Clinton briefly considered him for a seat on the Ninth Circuit. Plus, it’d be cool to say that I actually met someone who became as Supreme Court Justice.

I think I’ll make that my final map too. I originally had Ohio going to Trump but I’ve changed my mind and I feel good about Arizona too. Iowa will be a gain for Trump but unfortunately for him it’s not going to be enough. I’ll give Clinton the other EV for Maine too since I think while it will be close, I don’t see it going his way enough.

The key thing to remember is how the Bush Administration acted when they lost the popular vote in 2000, and only won because of Nader voters/butterfly ballot/SCOTUS/better post-election strategy in Florida. Cheney said, “We thought about that, but then we said, ‘We won’.”

Obama got 332 in 2012. In 2008, it was 365. I think it was the first time (in recent history, anyway) that a president was re-elected with a smaller margin than his initial victory.

It’s unlikely to make a difference, but if we end up with faithless (D) electors, having them tarred, feathered and run out of town on a rail would be appropriate on general principles.

Yes, he’s going to win more states than Alf Landon, McGovern, and Mondale combined. It sucks because all three of those guys were good men who either were up against a very popular incumbent or in McGovern’s case had their heart in the right place but were too radical for their time.

It really is ridiculous. Trump is the most horrible major-party presidential candidate in at least the past 100 years, and likely ever. It isn’t even close. Yet this festering synthesis of all negative human traits is certain to get a significant number of electoral votes. Many of his supporters are blatantly just as deplorable as Trump himself.

However, there are also a significant number of Trump supporters who supposedly don’t agree with Trump’s malevolent circus act, but have convinced themselves that Hillary Clinton is somehow worse than Trump.

Since there is no rational line of thinking that can possibly lead to this conclusion, this second group of Trump supporters are necessarily lying to themselves and to others. So they are just as deplorable as any other Trump supporters.

Hillary’s only mistake in her ‘deplorables’ line was using 50% where it should have been 100%.

I just did the calclations because I was genuinely curious at showing how stupid this is.
Me- All four grandparents born in US so I can vote.
Mom- All four parents born in Europe, nope
Dad- All but paternal grandfather born in US, nope
Dad’s Dad’s- aforementioned dad’s parents born in Europe and his mother’s fatehr was too so nope.
Dad’s Mom- Half of grandparents born in Europe but her dad’s paternal grandmother was born in the US in 1804.
So there you have it, I’m the first in my family that should be able to vote by Ann Coulter’s standards even though I can trace family in this country back to 1804 and beyond since third great grandmother was a younger child.

I can tell you getting a trove of things like this is a powerful and bittersweet thing. The letters are amazing. Heartfelt correspondence, and ordinary stuff. Postcards.

Yeah the letters sound amazing. I take it the gentleman in the photograph was your grandfather? For me, it’s always so exciting to see photographs of deceased relatives I never knew. A cousin sent me a bunch of my maternal grandfather’s brothers and sisters who I never knew, Grandpa was the youngest and sadly most of his siblings had died by the time I was born and we lived far away from the surving ones so I never met them and he never had any photos of them.

Expect to see more of this horseshit for the next four years. “Normal” Republicans are thoroughly incapable of understanding that Trump’s rise was not an aberration because Obama. Not to be a Debby-downer, but from what I see online there is just not the buzz with young people that Obama had in 2008.

Of course Clinton will carry the under-30 vote, by a goodly margin, but I wonder how many will get out and vote.

If you go back and look not that many got out and voted in 2008, the overall youth vote was up only 1% that year. Her margin in the age group is comparable with Obama and she makes it up with her increased performance over Obama with college educated whites, women and Latinos. Trump’s toxicity is I think under estimated because many pollsters have a hard time getting younger people on the phone and / or are not equipped to conduct polls in Spanish. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cursed myself for not having studied Spanish while making GOTV calls for Hillary. I’m able to flag that number so that a Spanish speaking volunteer will follow up but the point is it’s an easily overlooked demographic that is mobilizing in this election.

The overall youth vote may be down but the youth vote isn’t why Obama won twice, the coalition is.

I’m so sick of them refusing to own up on how the shit they’ve been doing for the past 40 years made Trump possible. He didn’t appear out of nowhere. I appreciate the people who have been consistently anti-Trump within the GOP and conservative movement but don’t insult our intelligence by suggesting Trump’s rise is Obama’s fault or that Trump is of the left. Your base wanted someone who shared their hatreds and they got him and they embraced him.

Yeah my mom’s grandparents were all born overseas too but maybe Ann would make an exception since mom’s dad’s parents were Slovenes like Melania. It really is totally absurd when you really do the math. As I calculated, I’d be the first in my family to be able to vote by Ann’s metric (I actually don’t think she was totally serious but it shows how stupid she is that she would even post that) even though I have family i can trace back to the 2nd census in 1800.

I’ve talked about it a lot but one of my great thrills of family research has been talking with family that I never would have met otherwise. The Trumpiots certainly do not know history; if Mexico had taken the Germans up on the offer in the Zimmerman Telegram (and if the US had not intercepted it, the result of which when we actually did was the ensuing diplomatic row that pushed Wilson into bringing us into WWI), this could have been a very different world in which we live.

I remember when we learned about Mexico, we read about a student movement that happened in the 60’s that was violently repressed by the Mexican government. I’ve gotten even more interested in Latin and South America since my brother began dating and then married a Peruvian-American. My brother’s been to Peru twice now. Fascinating country in its own. So many Americans don’t realize how interesting that region is. If we understood the history of our neighbors around the world better, we’d be a better country IMO.

good grief, he’s just gibbering now.

I feel bad for anyone who has to deal with him on a daily basis. Even if you agree with him, I bet he’s miserable to be around.

Call collect, Madame Secretary. That way, you can say you called and you’ll never have to talk to him.

Shit that means neither of my grandparents would too. In fact, this means according to Crazy Coulter, I’m the first in my generation that can vote even though the first of my family got here in George Washington’s presidency!

My mom is eligible to be a Daughter of the American Revolution but I would not be allowed to vote.
