Here’s an article on the cleansing of Armenians from their homeland that relates it to the global march of militarism and authoritarianism:
Putin’s Karabakh victory sparks alarm in Ukraine
[…]
By brokering a Kremlin-friendly peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Putin has succeeded in considerably expanding Russia’s military presence in the strategically important Southern Caucasus region. Crucially, he has done so without encountering any Western pushback. This unchecked advance should set alarm bells ringing in other ex-Soviet republics such as Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova. The big lesson of the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace settlement is that military power rules. In a matter of weeks, the use of force has achieved what decades of diplomacy failed to deliver. The only two relevant international players in the South Caucasus region are Russia and Turkey. The United States has taken leave, while the European Union is a paper tiger without troops.
[…]
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan came to power via a democratic uprising in 2018 and is no favorite of Putin, who is allergic to people power movements and much preferred the country’s previous kleptocratic rulers. By refusing to provide Russian military support to Armenia earlier, Putin has cut Pashinyan down to size.Angry Armenian nationalists stormed government buildings in Yerevan as news broke of the agreement with Russia and Azerbaijan, but Pashinyan clearly saw no better alternative than accepting a humiliating peace deal. It remains to be seen whether the Armenian kleptocrats from Nagorno-Karabakh who are favored by Putin will now regain power in Yerevan. Whatever comes next, Moscow has the satisfaction of seeing a champion of post-Soviet democracy disgraced and discredited.

A big part of Trumpism is the persona Trump has cultivated over the decades of a brash, successful businessman. Without the personality cult, a mere stuffed shirt GOP politician can’t expect to simply inherit Trump’s loyal base of voters.

Yes, we heard for years from many including one Willard Romney that “We need to just run the government like a business.” It was stupid then and it’s stupid now. Our government isn’t for sale. It’s people and institutions. And I agree 100%. They’re going to have a difficult time finding someone that can simply take the mantle from Donny. They’re all gonna try in their own way but it’s not gonna be easy. They tied their entire future as a party and identity to him. What the hell does it mean to be a Republican in 2021 if there is no Lord Protector Trump to pay homage to.

I mean when you look at the Congressional membership of the two parties along with the Trump Cabinet, Obama Cabinet, and what will be the Biden Cabinet. One looks like an outdated vision of America. The other looks like our country. By saying he’d choose a woman early on, Biden was able to demonstrate to the world that there are many qualified women to be VP and ipso facto President. Of the women considered, I thought that Harris was the best choice but that’s no disrespect to others who were vetted.

Trump never cared about logistics, which is how you distribute a vaccine. They knew that this kind of effort was needed, and didn’t plan for it. That means that a rollout will be delayed, especially to those areas that lack the infrastructure.
— lawhawk #maskingforafriend (@lawhawk) November 13, 2020
Operation Warp Speed was supposedly Trump’s effort to get a vaccine and distribute it.
Well, it’s not delivered on the vaccine, and there’s no effort to distribute. There’s no logistics in place. It’s all a sham/scam. Sound like you’re doing stuff, but there’s no there, there.
There are other vaccines that rely on similar tech to the Pfizer vaccine, but also require ultracold storage. Still other vaccines are in the works for regular freezer temps. But they’re not yet approved or through their testing.

The fact that they were submitting papers with no evidence, no facts, no information, lacked standing, and couldn’t even pass threshold questions showed this was all a scam, and a waste of the court’s time.

Trump did not win by 306 electoral votes. That is a lie he’s repeated for four years.
He won by 304 electoral votes. Biden surpassed Trump.
Technically not yet, because Biden might have faithless electors as well.

The reality is that they couldn’t find any legitimate cases of fraud, and when you’re resorting to offering $1 million for voter fraud evidence as TX Lt. Gov. Patrick did, it’s a sure sign it didn’t exist.
That’s like offering $1 million for evidence of Bigfoot. You know it doesn’t exist, but you’ll keep peddling the conspiracy theory anyway. You never have to pay out, which is the beauty of it all, and you keep your know nothing base engaged and enraged.

The thing to remember about 2020 and faithless electors is that no one who is appointed to the slate of electors needs to be reminded of what’s at stake. In 2016, no one knew how horrific Trump was going to be (and it didn’t matter in the event, which is probably why the faithless ones took a “principled stand”). In 2020, everyone knows what happens if they break with the vote they were appointed to cast.

Le Sigh…..Lawsuit filed in Green Bay seeks to toss all ballots from 3 heavily Democratic Wisconsin counties
GREEN BAY, WIS. — Three voters in northeastern Wisconsin have filed a federal lawsuit seeking to exclude Nov. 3 election ballots in Milwaukee, Dane and Menominee counties, which helped deliver the state to President-elect Joe Biden.
The plaintiffs allege — without evidence — that absentee voting is rife with widespread fraud and that votes in those counties should not be included in the state’s final election certification, which would give Wisconsin to President Donald Trump.

Wait wasn’t there in a Krebs in the bunker with Hitler too?
Ticketmaster has a plan. Kind of a cockamamie plan, but a plan…
Monday’s news that pharmaceutical company Pfizer’s early results on a new COVID-19 vaccine showed a 90% efficacy rate on an initial clinical trial have given concert professionals hope that the business can start mounting a return in 2021. As part of that preparation, Ticketmaster has been working on a framework for post-pandemic fan safety that uses smart phones to verify fans’ vaccination status or whether they’ve tested negative for the coronavirus within a 24 to 72 hour window.
[…]
Here’s how it would work, if approved: After purchasing a ticket for a concert, fans would need to verify that they have already been vaccinated (which would provide approximately one year of COVID-19 protection) or test negative for coronavirus approximately 24 to 72 hours prior to the concert. The length of coverage a test would provide would be governed by regional health authorities — if attendees of a Friday night concert had to be tested 48 hours in advance, most could start the testing process the day before the event. If it was a 24-hour window, most people would likely be tested the same day of the event at a lab or a health clinic.
Once the test was complete, the fan would instruct the lab to deliver the results to their health pass company, like CLEAR or IBM. If the tests were negative, or the fan was vaccinated, the health pass company would verify the attendee’s COVID-19 status to Ticketmaster, which would then issue the fan the credentials needed to access the event. If a fan tested positive or didn’t take a test to verify their status, they would not be granted access to the event. There are still many details to work out, but the goal of the program is for fans to take care of vaccines and testing prior to the concert and not show up hoping to be tested onsite.
Biden 306
I can appreciate the celebratory. Still, it’s staggering that a degenerate dirt-bag like Trump accumulated 10 million more votes than he did in 16. I have reservations about taking any Democrat or independent caucusing with the Democrats in the Senate when you need all those votes to hold a Senate majority. If you’ve got a chance to deplete the GOP numbers by picking off Collins or Murkowski, do that.
Take no D Senators for the cabinet. It makes no sense politically when you need to get legislation enacted ASAP for your agenda.

re: #137 jaunte
It also says a lot about the lack of a marginally credible third party candidate. Johnson and McMullin combined for 3.82% of the vote in 2016, which was just over 5.2m votes. (Stein, for what it’s worth got 1.04% or about 1.46m votes nationally)
This time the third party vote was 1.8%. Trump improved his popular vote percentage by 1.3%. Biden improved over Clinton by 2.62%, which means, not only did he get more of the third party vote from last time but he also won the turn out game in that he won more of the people who didn’t vote last time.

You can take a Democratic Senator if they are from a state with a Democratic governor. That way the replacement will likely be a Democrat, even if there’s a special election, being the incumbent will help in that scenario.
