she’s my alma mater
chasing lines all night
smoking me outta sight
well summer’s getting hotter
threw her t-shirt down the pike
screaming “fuck balenciaga”
right past the wawa
threw on “heart attack and vine”
as she alligator cries

i’ll make it darker
(2003 sad all the time)

point the headlights flicker dear
drive by the old house, go for a beer
we’re on the green or the movie theatre
you’re a movie to me the way you move around me

she’s my alma mater
well summer’s getting hotter
threw her t-shirt down the pike

some dreams i wake up thinkin’ ‘bout
some dreams are meant to die
KILL YOUR IDOLS in the street outside in daylight
‘cause if we walk we’ll get high tonight
shoulder to the wheel tonight
joke about blowing town tonight
until we drive past my alma mater

she’s my alma mater
chasing lines all night
smoking me outta sight
well summer’s getting hotter
threw her t-shirt down the pike
screaming “fuck balenciaga”
right past the wawa
threw on “heart attack and vine”
as she alligator cries

So the DC circuit court ruled Trump’s gag order is partially immune from his ignoring it. Good. Hopefully this leads to him being remanded into custody for violating it.

The final defence expert witness for Donald Trump and his co-defendants in a trial stemming from a blockbuster fraud lawsuit was paid nearly $900,000 for his testimony.

Across two days of testimony inside New York County Supreme Court this week, New York University accounting professor Eli Bartov labeled the complaint against the former president, his adult sons and associates under the Trump Organization umbrella “absurd”.

On Thursday, he told the court that he went through New York Attorney General Letitia James’s complaint “allegation by allegation” to “try to find at least something, some proof, that would provide some basis” for them.

“Most of their claims were simply unsupported,” he said. “My main finding is that there is no evidence whatsoever of any accounting fraud.”

He was paid for his OPINION of the complaints, not any first hand personal knowledge of the actual documents.

Most expert witnesses get compensated even if they are testifying for the state. I mean this guy was an expert witness for Letitia James in a case against exxon and I am sure he didn’t donate his time for free. Should all that testimony be called into question because he was paid? It is the system we have, experts don’t work for free(usually).

Nuns buy Smith & Wesson shares, then sue to stop production of AR-style rifles

The nuns, who represent four congregations, said in a joint statement on Tuesday that AR-style rifles “have stolen the lives of so many innocent people and devastated communities across the nation.” They added that, as Smith & Wesson stockholders, they have supported resolutions for the company to explain to shareholders the “exposure to risk and liability” pertaining to its manufacturing of AR-style rifles.

“These rifles have no purpose other than mass murder,” the statement read. “They are not the sporting rifles that members of our own families and other responsible gun owners value.”

They weren’t donating to the candidate…they were simply paying a consultant for his expert opinion who happened to also be testifying for the candidate in a civil trial.

That’s the MAGAt paradox. The brogressive version is not “they’re taking all the jobs,” it’s “they’re bringing wages down,” as though we’re supposed to believe that the “progressive” solution to low wages in America is not to mandate higher ones or punish employers for finding ways to undermine wages but to instead kick out all the “illegals” under the deluded belief that employers will just replace them with “legal” workers at much higher wages. You know, exactly the thing that hasn’t happened in the wake of COVID, where those employers have instead sat on their asses to whine that “Nobody wants to work!” and beg for more handouts from Uncle Sam.

Yet another reminder that this is not a serious bid to present Biden with a primary challenger but to instead try to fracture Dem loyalties while also creating PR issues for Biden. A serious primary bid would have started as early as last year, prepping to file paperwork and line up donors so that Phillips was on all the ballots and carrying a “war chest” large enough to carry him through til at least Super Tuesday.

Instead, all we get is a political nobody being propped up by the Repub donor class in an effort to create a “controversy” by jumping into the race after most of the filing deadlines have passed to accuse his own party of bias.

In the mood to make some Pretzel Crack!

If you’re looking for a super good snack, this Pretzel Crack is the one, as a matter of fact! No store-bought, pre-seasoned bite will ever beat these salty, crunchy pretzels covered in spicy, garlicky, savory seasonings! They’re SO good. Like once you take a bite, you won’t be able to stop. Pretzel Crack is the best thing to munch on for any occasion!

1 (16-ounce) bag pretzel sticks
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon lemon pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 package dry ranch mix
3/4 cup canola oil

Directions
Step 1 -
In a gallon-size, resealable plastic bag, add the pretzels.
Step 2 -
In a bowl, mix the cayenne pepper, the lemon pepper, the garlic powder, the onion powder, the ranch mix, and the canola oil together.
Step 3 -
Pour the spice mixture over the pretzels in the bag.
Step 4 -
Seal the bag and gently massage and toss the pretzels to coat evenly.
Step 5 -
Let the pretzels marinate for at least 2 hours and up to overnight.
Step 6 -
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.
Step 7 -
Spread the pretzels out on a large baking sheet.
Step 8 -
Bake the pretzels for 40 minutes.
Step 9 -
Serve.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — An extremely rare white leucistic alligator has been born at a Florida reptile park.

The 19.2-inch (49 cm) female slithered out of its shell and into the history books as one of a few known leucistic alligators, Gatorland Orlando said Thursday.

“This is beyond rare. It is absolutely extraordinary,” Mark McHugh, president and CEO of Gatorland, said in a statement.

They won’t be rare anymore if they do that. They’d be very popular as pets destined to become a serious problem.

edit: it is being done via inbreeding and is not a suprise if a colony mostly carries one leucistic gene.

The park is asking for the public’s help in the naming the alligator, which is descended from a nest of leucistic alligators discovered in the swamps of Louisiana in 1987. The blue-eyed newborn is the first solid white alligator ever recorded to have descended from those original alligators.

Girlfriend-beating white supremacist throws tantrum as he’s sentenced to life in jail

A white supremacist gang leader threw a tantrum in court this week after he was sentenced to life in prison for the kidnapping and beating of a former girlfriend.

Law and Crime News reports that 31-year-old white supremacist gang leader Tyler Clark repeatedly interrupted his one-time girlfriend in court this week as she was delivering a victim impact statement.

A judge in Texas admonished Clark to be quiet as she spoke, to which he said it didn’t matter because he had already been sentenced to life in jail.

“Clark, a resident of Porter, kidnapped the woman, who has not been identified, last year from Harris County and then drove her to Montgomery County, assaulting her the entire way,” Law and Crime News adds. “Images of her face after she suffered those beatings in the car were shown to jurors as evidence. She was left unrecognizable, prosecutors said.”

Despite this, reports local news station ABC 13, Clark’s attorneys argued that their client could be rehabilitated and that he had “vowed to change his life.”

Clark seems to have undermined those claims, however, when he refused to be quiet as he watched the woman he was convicted of beating deliver her statement to the court.

Y’all know Casa Bonita, the (in)famous Denver restaurant made famous by South Park and recently bought by the creators thereof? They reopened this year, and are offering an amusing selection of holiday merchandise.

shop.casabonitadenver.com

We couldn’t afford the ‘Dive Pool and Fir Tree’ and ‘Warm Sopapilla’ candles, but ordered an ornament (unfortunately they were sold out of the ‘ugly sweater’ version). Have been watching in bemusement as an order that presumably only needed to go from Lakewood to Centennial, halfway across the Denver metro, has made the following stops in the FedEd tracking system:
Aurora CO
Lewisberry PA
Cloverdale IN
Bunker Hill KS
Henderson CO

With the latest stop, it’s back in the metroplex, anyway. Waiting with great interest to see how many more states this bauble manages to tour before it hopefully reaches our doorstep. (Note to self: next year, just drive across town and buy it there…)

This amuses me. It’s about Rob Reiner’s documentary called “God + Country” which dropped yesterday. Since then the Usual Suspects have been in an *uproar*. I’m not wrong when I say they’re acting like hit dogs. I cannot even explain this behavior. Why are they so afraid?

WhiteBeard is James White, an “apologist” who used to be generally within the mainstream of Evangelicalism, but over the past several years has crept out to the conspiracy theory edge. He is one of the pastors at the church I’ve protested because of their stance of “no abortion EVER”—yeah, they want women to die. I seem to recall that he called me a communist in the mid-’10s and my response was “no self respecting Commie would work for a *bank*. Try again.”

LGF has come a long, long way since I joined in 2005. It was kinda wild and some lizards in those early years were difficult but it was always informative and interesting and timely and worthwhile. I think Charles has worked hard to make LGF what it is today. Tops.

It’s definitely been a study in positive sociological evolution and the importance of moderation in an online community. Like, honestly, I signed up in 2007 during an open window just for the lulz and the potential to fuck with an environment that I wasn’t down with at all. However I ended up not even bothering to post until 2010 because of all the rank jingoism and islamophobia. Back then I don’t think I’d have given any credence whatsoever to the potential for rapid healing and growth that’s been demonstrated since. Now it feels like there’s some real kind of lesson to be learned regarding the limits of scalability of node sizes in a communication ecosystem and how important it is to have actual accountability in the point of view guiding it.

All this to say, even to this day I definitely still have “issues” with post 9/11 era Charles and why the place was the way it was, but there’s also definitely been some incredibly valuable lessons learned along the way as it got to where it is now.

I have been here 22 years and several current Lizards are senior to me. For your 20th anniversary, you receive a vintage Bugatti or Hispano-Suiza, a weekend with either Taylor Swift or Brad Pitt (depending on age or other preference), an official Hated Enemy of MAGA certificate, and the Creation War Campaign Medal (I missed out on the last because I was in Iraq at the time).

Whenever I get this way I remember that Bush had a 90 fucking percent approval rating after 9/11 and 98% or so of people still won’t wear a mask while grocery shopping after all the shit we’ve just been through with COVID. Then I just recite the serenity prayer even though I’m really fucking agnostic because life basically just boils down to a bunch of random goddamned shit that happens.

Even though her first words to me were that my username pissed her off I genuinely feel for MandyManners (the “go piss up a rope” lady) for at least two reasons. On a sympathetic level because I suffer from idiopathic hypertension and she eventually had a stroke that absolutely destroyed her and reduced her to a husk not even capable of properly caring for herself. I genuinely fear that end for myself and it’s driven me to develop protective habits and to be more diligent about my health. But also on a less personal level because being that angry and vindictive all the time is just no way to live.

Also, I wonder what happened to her son, because holy fuck that whole situation is something to have had to deal with.

The Texas Supreme Court temporarily blocked a Dallas-area woman’s abortion late Friday night after a judge permitted the procedure in an emergency hearing only a day earlier.

Attorney General Ken Paxton petitioned the state’s highest court to stay the lower court’s ruling in one of the first lawsuits brought by a pregnant person seeking an abortion since the state banned the procedure in nearly all cases after the fall of Roe v. Wade in 2022.

The Supreme Court said it will weigh in on the case when the justices have more time to consider it, according to the court filing.
