Lyrics:
I left in a hurry terrified of confrontation I might find
You stayed back to pick up all the pieces of love we left behind
I’ve been crazy as long as I remember
You went crazy when I met you
Thought we’d find our way back home
Yeah, but somehow I know that wasn’t true
If we could grow together then I know forever could be mine
If we lose each other then another lover you will find
Love is, love is bipolar
It always gets colder as soon as you warm up to me
Last thing I remember is you slamming the door right in my face
Said you need some time to think about some of the crazy shit, the crazy shit that I say Where did we go wrong?
Tell me just how long I’ve been away
When my mind starts to wander, you’re the first responder reminds me not to space
If we grow together then I know forever could be mine If we lose each other then another lover may you find
Love is, love is bipolar
It always gets colder as soon as you warm up to me
Oh, my love is, love is bipolar
I should have told her that I’m so damn hard to reach
If we grow together then I know forever could be mine
If we lose each other then another lover may you find Love is, love is bipolar
It always gets colder as soon as you warm up to me
Oh, love is, said my love is bipolar
I should have told her that I’m so damn hard to reach
I should have told her that I’m so damn hard to reach

I wonder if Les Baxter was some of the inspiration for Alexander Courage’s Star Trek music.

Making fun of the attempted murder of the Speaker’s husband is a reason why I don’t accept that there “good” Trump supporters. That’s just a lie people tell themselves. That should have ended his run, but it didn’t. That’s on them.

The plot thickens…

‘Pray about it and call me’: Sex abuse accuser demanded payment from Pro-Trump pastor

The woman who accused a pro-Donald Trump megachurch pastor of sexually abusing her when she was 12 — which he later admitted — reportedly demanded payment from him in an unflinching email: “Pray about it and call me.”

Accuser Cindy Clemishire came forward last week with sexual abuse allegations against pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas. Clemishire said Morris molested her for years beginning when she was 12 at her Oklahoma home in 1982.

Morris and Gateway’s elders responded to the allegations last weekend acknowledging that Morris had several sexual encounters with a “young lady” when he was in his 20s. He was transparent about the sin and repented. On Tuesday, Gateway’s board of elders said Morris resigned. He has not been charged.

NBC News reported Friday evening that his accuser confronted him and demanded compensation two decades before Morris admitted to having “sexual” encounters with a child.

“Twenty-three years after you began destroying my life, I am still dealing with the pain and damage you caused,” Clemishire wrote Morris in a redacted 2005 email obtained by NBC News.

“I want some type of restitution,” she said. “Pray about it and call me.”

Two weeks later, she received a response.

“Debbie and I really do care for you and we sincerely want God’s best for you,” Morris wrote. He said he’d confessed his sins to her father long ago and thought he’d “obtained your forgiveness as well as your family’s,” according to the emails.

Then he threatened her with charges.

“My attorney advises that if I pay you any money under a threat of exposure, you could be criminally prosecuted and Debbie and I do not want that,” Morris said. “If you need more information, have your attorney contact mine.”

Madiba K. Dennie:
John Roberts Did a Very Bad Job Cleaning Up the Supreme Court’s Second Amendment Mess

Two years after the decision in Bruen, the conservative justices aren’t so sure about this whole “history and tradition” thing after all.

“…In Rahimi, Thomas is ride-or-die for the standard he created in Bruen. But no other justice is comfortable with the rule or its consequences. The liberal justices are upfront that the Court got the Constitution wrong, and the conservative justices—both those in the majority and those writing separate, flailing concurrences—pick laws with varying degrees of generality out of a historical grab-bag to support the conclusion they want to reach. All Republicans except for Thomas were forced to confront the reality that, if the rule in Bruen prevents the government from disarming domestic abusers, perhaps they’re not as committed to the rule in Bruen as they thought. As it turns out, the conservative justices prioritize fealty to history and tradition over everything—until this approach leads to policy outcomes they don’t like.”

NASA indefinitely delays return of Starliner to review propulsion data

It had already been delayed once. Now it is some indefinite time in July. The problem (as least the ones we are told of): “five separate leaks in the helium system that pressurizes Starliner’s propulsion system and the failure of five of the vehicle’s 28 reaction-control system thrusters as Starliner approached the station.”

They say it can come home in case of an emergency. I suspect they are really worried about the ability of the capsule to safely undock and maneuver away from the station.

I think Apple and now, Google, are conspiring to force me into buying a new macbook. Apple has locked me into macOS 10.15 by not allowing any further updates. That also left me with an old version of Safari which was causing issues in logging into my bank accounts that rejected such an old version. Switching to Chrome, I was able to get regular updates, and access my accounts, until this evening. After updating, I now am getting a message stating to receive further Chrome updates, I need macOS 11 or later, which, as I stated, Apple won’t provide. I guess 7/8 years is old for a PC but still, it is frustrating.

Yes: “shrinking” technology was a thing, but it would only last for an hour. The patient was a foreign scientist who had figured out how to extend the shrink time: but had gotten his head bashed in an assassination attempt. So they had to send the sub in so they could clear the clot from the inside. With a (then quite-exotic) laser.

And yeah, Raquel’s upperworks were fairly distracting….

Democrats in the US Senate have introduce a bill to repeal the Comstock Acts.

(Wonkette, today)

Dems Want To Abolish The Comstock Act So We Can Mail Abortion Pills And Lady Chatterley’s Lover

Democrats in Congress made a smart move this week, seeking a repeal of the Comstock Act — the weird, old-timey law that Republicans want to use to ban mailing abortion pills.

Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minnesota) introduced the legislation on Thursday, along with Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts), Catherine Cortez-Masto (D-Nevada), and 17 other Democratic senators. Companion legislation is set to be introduced in the House by Rep. Becca Balint (D-Vermont).

According to a press release from Sen. Smith’s office, the Stop Comstock Act intends to “repeal language in the Comstock Laws that could be used by an anti-abortion administration to ban the mailing of mifepristone and other drugs used in medication abortions, instruments and equipment used in abortions, and educational material related to sexual health.”

Melinda French Gates has never endorsed a political candidate before. She noted in the past that in advocating for health issues, she has to work with all sorts of politicians and it won’t help her work if she alienated one party or another.

That said, she’s come out with her first endorsement ever, for President Joe Biden. I imagine one op-ed is not going to be the end of her activism.

(CNN, June 20, 2024)

Melinda French Gates: Why this election desperately matters

As President Joe Biden faces former President Donald Trump in another contest for the White House, the stakes for women and families couldn’t be higher.

I’ve never endorsed a presidential candidate before. My work on gender equality and global health often requires me to work with leaders on both sides of the aisle, so I’ve avoided talking publicly about who I voted for in past elections.

But this year is different.

After Trump’s first term in office endangered the health of women, compromising their safety and robbing them of essential freedoms, I’m supporting Biden this election and asking others to do the same.

One of Trump’s first actions as president was reinstating and expanding the global gag rule, which restricted foreign aid to organizations providing reproductive services and, by some estimations, caused more than 100,000 maternal and child deaths globally.

The former president imposed restrictions on the federal family planning program, Title X, that made it harder for people from low-income backgrounds to access contraceptives. His often divisive, sometimes violent rhetoric throughout his campaigns and administration — from the sexist attacks he lobbed at women journalists to calling for his opponent to be jailed — has contributed to a hostile political climate for women in office and allowed threats against election workers, most of whom are women, to proliferate.

And he deliberately appointed Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade, which resulted in a decision with far-reaching and catastrophic consequences for women and families.

In the two years since Roe was overturned, emergency rooms have turned away pregnant women in desperate need of care because doctors feared legal consequences.

Obstetricians have fled states with strict bans, which could leave women without access to basic services like contraceptives.

I was stopped at OSX 10.14, and the browsers I used were woefully out of date.

It became so bad that I could not access some of my much-needed websites, or lose functionality on them (such as with my credit card account.)

But then again, I was using a 16 year old iMac.

I’d like to get a new Mac with Apple’s latest chip family, but I think I’ll put that off until the M5 comes out (2026).

As an inexpensive option to be able to use Ventura (macOS 13, which Apple still updates) I ended up buying a used 2018 iMac. They are not very expensive and have high quality displays.

Apple’s move to incorporate AI across its platform will not apply to this Intel machine I have, but I don’t think I’m losing much.

Apple should release M4 Mac variants this fall, and M5 variants a year or so after that. The M4 appears to be a superior version of TSMC’s 3nm process, and the chip also uses ARM’s latest logic designs.

The M5 should move to a 2nm process and will likely be the last big leap in processing until the device physics people figure out how to make IC processes down at the molecular scale.

Folks like to point out these things happen in threes, and there was a third trailblazer who died but got very little attention, so they gave it to her: Computer Scientist Lynn Conway.

They detail her work, and pull in a surprising item about her which she was public about during her life and which garnered her a public apology from IBM (fifty years late but at least while she was still alive).

Their write up is worth reading, both for her history in computer science and what happened after she was fired from IBM (and why).

Nearly one in 10 eligible voters lack easy access to documents to prove their citizenship, according to a new survey (PDF at the University of Maryland, six pages), underscoring how Republican efforts to purportedly prevent non-citizens from voting could disenfranchise millions.

If asked to quickly locate a passport, birth certificate or naturalization papers to produce proof of citizenship tomorrow, more than 21 million Americans - about 9% of eligible voters - would not be able to, according to the survey, conducted by the Brennan Center for Justice, VoteRiders, Public Wise, and the Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement (CDCE) at the University of Maryland. Nearly 4 million American citizens - 2% in total - lack access to any form of proof in citizenship.

Yahoo!, June 12, 2024, Millions of US voters lack access to documents to prove citizenship

TL;DR on the survey: 21MM Americans of voting age do not have a current driver’s license. Another 28.6MM do not have a license which shows both their current name and current address.

That broke down to 23% of Democrats, 16% of Republicans, and 31% of independents/third parties.

Young Americans are least likely to have a current driver’s license or one with both their current name and current address. 41% 18-24, and 38% 25-29.

The same numbers apply to education level: below high school 41% do not have a license with their current name and address, and another 35% have no license at all. As education level goes up, those numbers go down. The same apply to income levels. The same apply to minority groups.

20% of people identifying as having a disability do not have a license, and 9% more do not have a license with both their current name and current address.

Since photo ID is required in states with voter ID laws, and a driver’s license is the most common form, those demographics are hurt worst by such laws.

TASS claims:

US moves to close Russian visa center, strips Russian diplomats of tax privileges

The US administration has decided to shutter down both offices of the Russian Visa Application Center in the United States and deprive Russian diplomats of the possibility to pay taxes in the country, Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov said.

“Literally an hour ago, the Americans notified us of closing down the Visa Center,” Antonov said. “Also, the United States stripped us of tax exemption cards,” he told reporters following the Candle of Memory memorial event dedicated to the beginning of the Great Patriotic War that took place on the premises of the Russian embassy.

United States’ Notification of Suspension, By Mutual Agreement, of the 1992 Tax Convention with Russia

The U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced that the United States has provided formal notice to the Russian Federation to confirm the suspension of the operation of Paragraph 4 of Article 1 and Articles 5-21 and 23 of the Convention between the United States of America and the Russian Federation for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and Capital, signed at Washington, June 17, 1992 (the “Convention”), as well as the operation of its accompanying Protocol, by mutual agreement. The suspension will take effect both for taxes withheld at source and in respect of other taxes on August 16, 2024, and will continue until otherwise decided by the two governments.

This action responds to notification by the Russian Federation on August 8, 2023, of its desire to suspend Paragraph 4 of Article 1 and Articles 5-21 and 23 of the Convention, as well as the Protocol.

Imagine being the richest family in the UK, and still paying your slaves servants but a few pounds per day:

Four members of the UK’s richest family have received prison sentences for exploiting staff brought over from India to work at their Geneva villa.

Prakash and Kamal Hinduja, as well as their son Ajay and his wife Namrata, were found guilty of exploitation and illegal employment by a Swiss court and handed sentences ranging from four to four-and-a-half years.

[…]

Three workers who were brought over from their native India alleged the family paid them as little as £7 ($8) to work 18-hour days - less than a tenth of the amount required under Swiss law - and confiscated their passports.

They also claimed the family - whose fortune is estimated at around £37bn - rarely allowed them to leave the house, which is in Geneva’s wealthy neighbourhood of Cologny.

During the trial, prosecutors alleged the family spent more on their dog than on their servants.

They also claim they’re being discriminated against because they can’t talk about their religion [proselytise] around the dinner table to children placed in their care.

Excellent. The more money Republican candidates spend on alleged election fraud issues in their own primaries, the less money the candidates and party have to work with in the General Election.

That’s one suggestion I have for people to keep in mind when they hear Repubs talking about challenging everything from votes to the people who voted: They’re burning a shitload of money right now just trying to keep Trump out of a jail cell until after Election Night. There was a story on RS yesterday about how his “Save America PAC” is spending roughly $5mil a month on “legal costs” but is set to end this month with less than $4mil in the kitty.

And the results of their “flood the zone” BS in 2020 was numerous legal careers irreparably damaged, so don’t bet on them saving a few bucks by drawing in volunteers to man the trenches for them. Nor will any who are hired have the same level of access to intel and support that those who volunteered the first time enjoyed fighting on behalf of an incumbent candidate. So my advice is to exercise at least a little optimism at the very real possibility that the Trump legal strategy will have gone belly up long before we reach Election Night.

Yahoo!, June 12, 2024, Millions of US voters lack access to documents to prove citizenship

Every citizen in Germany (and in most other European countries) is required to carry an ID card. Foreigners get their own separate resident ID cards.

Every resident is also required to have a registered address, which is automatically registered as your voting address.

My daughter (a German citizen) gets a letter in the mail informing her of the upcoming election in six weeks, goes down to the local polling place (here the village hall, walking distance), shows her ID and gets her name crossed off the list.

America will never accept such a system due to outcry on both Right and Left, but it would solve a lot of issues in the simplest way.

Since I moved I need a new Driver’s License.

Changed my address online with the DMV just fine.

Automatically registered to vote as part of the same process and sure enough the County Registrar has me correctly on the voter’s list.

But getting a physically new D/L? The online system keeps rejecting my application, saying that it can’t verify my identity, even though I am logged into the DMV.

And it’s not my browser (all cookies are allowed, etc.).

There’s no telephone number to call of course. I’ll have to use their chat system and hope a hooman comes online eventually.

Anyway, if I went to go vote and had my old license I’d be hard up to show any ID, as the D/L is the only valid ID I have now that my old passport expired.

The registered address is also necessary to access public assistance, enroll children in school, register a car, get a telephone (even a mobile) sign a lease or employment contract, etc.

If the USA had this (a ginormous IF), it would greatly change the landscape for undocumented aliens.

Shutting Afghan women out of key UN conference to appease Taliban ‘a betrayal’

“Group allegedly demanding Afghan participation in Doha meeting this month be limited to men and that women’s rights be excluded from the agenda”

Excluding Afghan women from an upcoming UN conference on Afghanistan would be a “betrayal” of women and girls in the country, say human rights groups and former politicians.

The Taliban are reportedly demanding that no Afghan women be allowed to participate in the UN meeting in Doha starting 30 June, set up to discuss the international community’s approach to Afghanistan, and that women’s rights are not on the agenda.

[clip]

The Taliban did not participate in UN talks earlier this year, with the UN chief António Guterres saying at the time that the group presented a set of conditions for its participation that “denied us the right to talk to other representatives of the Afghan society” and were “not acceptable”.

Tirana Hassan, executive director at Human Rights Watch, said: “Excluding women risks legitimising the Taliban’s abuses and triggering irreparable harm to the UN’s credibility as an advocate for women’s rights and women’s meaningful participation.”

In trying to bring the Taliban to the negotiating table now, the UN was giving in to their demands to exclude women’s rights, said the former Afghan minister of women’s affairs Sima Samar.

Snapchill LLC Recalls Canned Coffee Products Due to Potential Clostridium botulinum

This involves hundreds of coffee products. The problem is associated with low-acid canning, which can allow the growth of bacteria which produce botulism toxin.

No deaths are yet linked to the coffee; the company issued a voluntary recall (translation: FDA says “make a voluntary recall or we’ll raid your company”).

06/17/2024, Snapchill LLC (Snapchill) of Green Bay, WI is voluntarily recalling all canned coffee products manufactured by the company, within expiration date, because their current process could lead to the growth and production of the deadly toxin, botulinum toxin, in low acid canned foods. Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, can cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation may also be common symptoms. Symptoms can begin from six hours to two weeks after eating food that contains botulinum toxin. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.

The products were distributed nationwide through various coffee roasters and retail locations, as well as through direct online purchase from Snapchill. The problem was identified when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notified Snapchill that the low acid canned foods process for manufacturing the recalled products was not filed with FDA, as is required by regulation. No illnesses have been reported to-date, and Snapchill is not aware of any instances in which the company’s products contained botulin toxin. Snapchill is working on filing the appropriate notification with FDA.

The coffees in question were sold in metal cans from 7 to 12 ounces. You can identify if your coffee was canned by them from the identification of the company in the Nutrition Facts label.

Because everybody saves their grocery receipts just in case someone recalls something:

Consumers should either destroy the products or return the product to Snapchill or the place of purchase for a refund. Snapchill will offer full refunds for any of these products, with appropriate proof of purchase including a picture of the product(s) before being destroyed. Full information about the return and refund will be available at Compliance@Snapchill.com.

List of Coffee Roasters’ Products Recalled [PDF, nine pages]

No major coffee brands such as Yuban or Maxwell House are implicated: Only niche upscale brands are affected.

Gov. Pillen declares State of Emergency in Panhandle fire (Scottsbluff, Nebr. Star-Herald, yesterday, more at the link)

LINCOLN - Governor Jim Pillen has signed a proclamation declaring a state of emergency due to a wildfire that started in Box Butte County and spread into Morrill County earlier this week.

Approximately 10,000 acres were scorched. The fire was made worse by a combination of high temperatures, high winds, low humidity, and dry conditions that resulted in a fast-moving blaze that damaged public and private property and caused health dangers.

The proclamation allows for use of the Governor’s Emergency Fund to help pay for recovery efforts beyond the scope of what local governments can handle.

Philadelphians greet Trump with ‘Your Nominee Is A Convicted Felon’ billboard before rally

When MAGA country descends on Philadelphia this weekend, they will be greeted by at least one unflattering billboard: a composite image of Donald Trump wearing an orange jumpsuit next to the message, “YOUR NOMINEE IS A CONVICTED FELON.”

A video of the unwelcoming signage was posted by Harry Sisson, a Gen Z influencer and activist.

“LOL,” he writes on Twitter/X. “This billboard saying ‘Your Nominee Is a Convicted Felon’ is in Philadelphia to greet Donald Trump and his supporters when they arrive tomorrow! This is so funny. Continue to remind the people that Trump is a CRIMINAL!”

The Saturday rally at Temple University, a rare stump stop for the 45th president who back in a 2020 debate with Joe Biden in the City of Brotherly Love blabbed: “Bad things happen in Philadelphia!” — comes days before he faces off again with the incumbent in Atlanta.

Trump is reportedly the first Republican presidential candidate to hold a campaign rally on Temple’s campus.

The ex-president is returning after a February cameo appearance at Sneaker Con that was held at the Philadelphia Convention Center, where he was met by boos when he debuted his golden bathed Never Surrender sneakers that were billed as “your rally cry in shoe form.”

Counterprotests are already being planned against Trump.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is one group planning to bond with local groups two hours before the event to show solidarity behind the Biden ticket.

Trump is already priming his base ‘to come out and fight’ if he loses the election

In a Friday night interview with CNN, Barbara F. Walter — who wrote the book How Civil Wars Start — said Trump has so far been repeating the same rhetoric from his 2020 campaign. She observed that unlike most conventional presidential candidates, Trump is literally running for office to remain a free man. According to Walter, this means doing whatever it takes to win, including fomenting political violence.

“He wants to stay out of jail and he wants to get in the White House,” Walter told CNN host Pamela Brown. “And this is sort of classic, mob-style bullying tactics. He’s trying to intimidate jurors, intimidate judges, intimidate anybody who might have an influence on what the repercussions of this past trial are going to be.”

She noted that by attempting to convince his base that a win is inevitable, Trump is also communicating that a loss implies a stolen election.

“This will be the second consecutive election he will have lost, and he’s priming them. He’s priming them to be angry, to feel like a great injustice has been done to him, and for some of them, he’s priming them to come out and fight to prevent him from losing yet again.”

At that point, Brown asked Walter, “what do you mean, specifically? What exactly?”

“I think we’ll see something similar to what we saw after the November 2020 election,” Walter said. “He started talking about, ‘we need to take our country back.’ ‘Come on January 6, it’s going to be wild.’ … He’s setting the doubt that there’s no way could possibly lose, so that if he does lose people will feel that the election was illegitimate, that there was fraud, that his supporters need to fight back to correct what they will truly believe was an injustice.”

GROWING UP CULT: A MEMOIR OF LIFE WITH SRI CHINMOY

So what’s the difference between a guru and a cult leader? Lots. A guru is a simply a teacher, anyone who helps an aspirant remove the veil of ignorance. But when Indian teachers first came to the West and asked their students to trust them, to revere them—and even to serve them—the ground was prepared for a cultural confusion that is still being untangled.

Jayanti Tamm, author of Cartwheels in a Sari, grew up in the inner circle of Sri Chinmoy, a popular Bengali teacher who came to New York City in the ’60s and developed a strong following. Her parents conceived her in violation of the community’s celibacy rules, but the guru, rather than rejecting her, dubbed her “Chosen One” and she became a cherished favorite.

Chinmoy, an orphan, had himself grown up in a religious community, the ashram of Sri Aurobindo. The religious life he required of his followers (including practicing abstinence from sex, vegetarianism, and poverty) was conventional enough as far as monastic rules went, not a sign of cultishness; and many of Chinmoy’s devotees never experienced the group this way.

But the role of guru carries risks; for the soul of the teacher as much as for the student. It is apparently all too easy to succumb to a particularly virulent form of narcissistic disorder when people are throwing rose petals at you all day. And when a teacher loses his bearings, the signs are hard to miss.

The Pennsylvania Democratic Party is one group planning to bond with local groups two hours before the event to show solidarity behind the Biden ticket.

rawstory.com

Oh Philly how I love you, my city.
On one Trump visit to Philly a woman held up a sign with our beloved anarchist Gritty on it that read ” There’s only room for one orange asshole in this city.”

I assume he’s going to Temple Univ (I have many alums in my family) because it’s in North Philly so must be where all The Blacks are. You know how he can relate now that he’s a convicted felon.

If you haven”t seen it already, I strongly encourage you to find and watch the video of baseball HOFer Reggie Jackson discussing what he faced when playing ball in Alabama and throughout the south at the beginning of his career. It is truly frightening to hear about the systemic racism he had to endure, the rejection he faced when entering restaurants or trying to stay in the hotels with his teammates. Most of all, his fear of going out at night, being afraid he might get into a fight and, as he put it, end up in an oak tree.

I don’t think MLB nor Fox Sports were expecting such remarks while celebrating Willie Mays and the Negro Leagues in a reconstructed ball park where both played but they certainly got more than their money’s worth.

Reggie was always an egotistical person during his playing days even though he could back his words up with his on-field efforts. In this interview, he’s being openly and candidly honest and, as such, simply hits it out of the park.

I believe this is why Republicans fight so hard to keep people in public life from being openly gay, trans, any other non-conforming identity. Their real goal is to restore their right to discriminate and punish people for being different, and that fails if too many people learn that their very favorite teacher is gay or trans, or if they learn the true history of racial discrimination and violence in this country, then their cries of “reverse discrimination” will seem stupid and malicious.

The key to all of their nefarious goals is ignorance, because the majority of people reject this stuff if given the truth.

I lived in the San Joaquin valley as a kid where temps got to 100+ multiple times during the summer. We’d got out and play baseball or shoot hoops and then go to someone’s house where their mom would serves us glass after glass of ice-cold lemonade. It was glorious. As a teen, I got into playing handball at some outdoor courts at the local JC. The sweat would simply pour out of us but we didn’t care. we be there from 3 to after dark. Once I went away to school by the coast and moved to the bay area, I quickly lost that heat conditioning such that I started to resent it when the temps got into the 80s.

Same. I think about when I worked bees and we’d be out pulling honey in 100 degree heat and we carried a couple of plastic gallon jugs wrapped in burlap on the truck for water. Fill them in the morning, soak the burlap and that would keep the water drinkable cool for most of the morning. When those got empty we’d fill them wherever we could - often a running stream.

On Rich Eisen’s show, where he talked about the Jackson interview, he made that same point. Unfortunately, he didn’t name the states like I’d hoped he would have. Maybe he didn’t because of viewership or network issues but, the only way that might be shut down is shed some light on it. Name these damn states when ever you can. The more embarrassed they get, the more they will lash out, and the more effective we’ll know it to be.

He is totally evil, a monster, and a liar. I have no doubt that he would have supported Hitler. The Heritage Foundation is clearly not non-partisan.

there are a lot of ways for the state to suppress dissident speech. one particularly bad one is by having armed agents of the state stand by and do nothing while partisan-aligned thugs or paramilitary groups beat you because of your speech, and then have the DA decline to prosecute the assaulters.

Things change. In 2016, it was okay to be a Republican and not be a Trump toady. Now, it’s a prerequisite for party membership to worship at his feet regularly.

Vance, 2016: “”I go back and forth between thinking Trump might be a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn’t be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he might be America’s Hitler,”

Vance, 2024, “I meant, like Hitler, but that’s actually really good.”

Depends on the type of drag you’re doing, but it would definite be a challenge with it that long.

Or maybe the tRump team didn’t have as much bad shit on him before, but they do now.

Naaah, Rubio’s only behind Graham in how much he panders to the leader.

Well, to be fair, it’s a virtual certainty that Trump and his camp have something really damning on Lindsey Graham. That said, I doubt the same is the case with lil’ Marco.

I’m just glad he doesn’t qualify for minimum security. He has another charge coming in September in New York so he gets to go to a low security facility for four months. I hope someone there has a beef against him.

The Heritage Foundation is a subversive organization that must be shut down.

I’m going to prison in 8 days. I’ll be registering (restored) voters.

Please don’t recommend having thugs enforce the law. No matter how much he deserves a punch.

It’s amazing he showed up on MSNBC to reveal how monstrous he and his organization really are.
