As a supervisor I had to lower my expectations. I am happy that the same people show up consistently. Also, they know how to do the basics. I wish that they could progress to advanced stuff like using computers, but that's too much to hope for I guess.

They were screaming earlier too, I agree. But in those last shots it looks like they were scared and crying (and not just the kids). And that is an improvement on them chanting in victory as they leave. They met some pushback, and it scared them.

We have had to do that over the years, too. My poor hubby has actually scaled down the business in the last few years because he isn't as healthy these days and just cannot deal with trying to find the good ones.

The Shifa hospital was seriously refurbished and upgraded by Israel for the Gazan residents when Israel still controlled that part of Eretz Yisrael. Many of the terrorists are hiding under Building 2 of Shifa hospital.

Israel built these "bunkers" under the hospital originally as a basement and strong foundation for Building 2 of the hospital (which Israel built). It was meant for the laundry machines and other services.

Iranian officials on Saturday strongly disputed media reports that Iran's top leader Ayatollah Ali Khameini has banned volunteers from leaving the country to carry out suicide bombings against Israel and stressed that the supreme leader meant only that practical obstacles remained for such attackers to get to Gaza.

The officials said The Associated Press misinterpreted Khamenei's comments when he said Thursday that "our hands are tied in this arena." The AP also quoted Khamenei as saying that Iran would assist the militant group Hamas, which is fighting Israel, in other ways.

The Iranian officials said Khamenei's words should not have been interpreted as a ban on such volunteers, but meant that any Iranians would have great practical difficulty in reaching Gaza because of Israel's offensive. The report was used by some Arab television stations.

Israel built these "bunkers" under the hospital originally as a basement and strong foundation for Building 2 of the hospital (which Israel built). It was meant for the laundry machines and other services.

Look for a bad day in the market as the futures are down fractionally, the Nikkei and Hang Seng were down overnight, and the market is generally expecting to hear bad news for a while. Corporations have shifted to a strategy of lowering profit and sales expectations so that any growth will look very good by comparison, trying for a better 2nd half of 2009.

On the positive side, oil futures are now below $40 a barrel which will be a great savings for consumers and should mean more profit for companies as their energy costs should continue to moderate. Even is you lose 5% of sales, if your fuel costs dropped 50% that should mean more profit to the bottom line for the average consumer.

This is looking to possibly be the 2nd longest economic downturn in modern history.

Usually your downturns last 12 to 16 months. This downturn started about a year ago is now is expected to continue until at least the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2009.

Beware of overly pessimistic market pundits. The easiest thing to do right now is to talk about how awful things are seen to be and that it's never going to get better. There are a handful of prognosticators who predicted the downturn and are now seen as geniuses, so everyone is joining in the negative prediction business. If you check the history of the predictors who supposedly got it "right", they predict a downturn every year.

Also, many of these prognosticators support Obama and so want to give him cover for his big spending plans.

Last week we had an a bit of ice, especially on the bridges and overpasses on I-540. There was an 8 car accident on a bridge, and to escape sliding cars two people jumped over the edge of the bridge.

The bridge is 160 feet tall, and is over another roadway, not water. Local people, you'd think that they would've known.

Talk about no good option, jump to your death or be crushed by sliding cars.

If the report is true, and Khaled Abu Toameh is an excellent reporter with a sterling reputation. The Hamas Gaza leadership has been given an ultimatum by Iran to keep funding or the marriage is over. This is a tough choice. they are getting pounded and their fighting capacity is dwindling by the hour.

They face military defeat or complete annihilation. Not much of a choice is it?

Next point. There are many who claim that Israel had no right to respond and no right to respond the way she did. This is utter manure. Nations have the duty not just a right to defend themselves and they may do so however they wish within the bounds of the laws of war. Hamas was attacking Israel, period. Israel defended herself, period.

Israel is guilty of nothing of the later. the population of Gaza is STILL 1.5 million as it will be after this war. And let it not be forgotten that Hams has caused hundreds of deaths and injuries by directly slaughtering political opponents, even killing wounded in the hospital.

So far the war is being waged as humanely as possible given the circumstances, I do not expect this change.

Seems to me that a couple of hours ago they lost the link (as you pointed out, NanaLiveSrv01) that had the live-cam. They have replaced that with NanaLiveSrv02. Will 01 come back? Hard to say. It could be gone for any number of reasons (the fiber may have been cut, the building may have lost power, hell, the building may have been flattened! )

Gazacam has always been an Israeli feed, Ms Manners. They went off about 3 hours ago, and are showing studio stuff now-because otherwise, they give Hamas to much info about troop locations, and type of forces. Does that help you make sense of it?
