I've been doing solar buildings off and on for a long time. They'll help, but they are no panacea, and you have to plan them from the start for a really effective one (passive solar) and you have to have a good site with lots of sun. It is not something the country can switch over to right away. It is only part of the solution and we should have been working steadily at it since the mid-1970s.
I am very dismayed that a politician of this type has gotten ahold of the idea.
I hope it is not the kiss of death to something actually good.
