I've been following Gates of Vienna for a while, as a once solid voice of anti-jihad has not only embraced VERY unsavory characters in Europe, but has also taken to bedding down with some pretty nasty characters here in the U.S.
Recently I discovered this site [Link: gatesofviennawatch.blogspot.com...] which appears to be Gates of Vienna's stalker blog. While I'm not a fan of stalker blogs, having seen the disingeuousness Charles has faced, first with LGF Watch and now with Rodan's crapola, this one is hitting a well-deserved target. I get the impression from reading it that the writer is a leftie, but it's a site I'll keep on my own little "watch" list anyway.

Afternoon, lizards. It's a slow day at work so I thought I'd get in a little more LGF time. The Fish's sister has just announced that her boyfriend has won my parents' approval for marriage. I have to admit, the idea has me vaguely puzzled.

If there are any National Security/Military geeks out there like me, the Hudson Institute is running a live panel discussion on Russian military capability on C-SPAN 2 right now. This current panel is talking about Russian Strategic Forces. Something I saw that got my attention was a earlier panel talking about Russia's invasion of Georgia last year. Turns out a lot of Russian civillian hackers were hacking Georgian based web sites on orders from the Russian military

Sinopec to Boost Overseas Expansion as Profit Surges
China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., Asia’s biggest refiner, plans “rapid” overseas expansion to secure oil supplies after profit reached a record and as the nation’s economic recovery spurs fuel demand. [...]
Chinese energy companies have spent at least $13 billion on overseas assets since December as they take advantage of lower valuations caused by the global recession to meet energy demand in the world’s fastest growing major economy. Sinopec will invest in oil and gas fields overseas and expand refining ventures while focusing on cost reduction as it expects oil prices to rise in the second half, Su said. [...]
Should we be recovering from the current recession in the coming quarters, oil has the potential for explosive upward movement.

I subscribed to this one on purpose (kinda, the other options were lame). This month's issue showed up with a white paper stapled over the actual cover telling subscribers that we can get two whole free issues if we switch our subscriptions to "digital only". It has a big 'Go Green" logo on it.
If I wanted to go to a website I would. The reason I subscribe to mags is their portability, so the offer is useless to me. Just wondering if anyone else is actually going to do it.
Oh, and I'd still have to pay full price for the subscription (except for the free two) and all I'd end up with is a password for their site? No thanks.

Talk about ants. I was cleaning off the patio this weekend and picked up a table cloth that was draped over the notch in a tree for a few weeks. I got inside and an ant was biting my arm, the turnspawn2 walks in and say dicdo there are thousands of ants on you. I raced outside and we brushed most of them off pretty quickly but hours later I was still picking them off. I nuked the tree with spray.

You think or you know? If you're not sure, see your doc and get an epi pen prescribed.
Thanks, yew I already have an epi pen for the peanut allergies, bee stings never bothered me that much when I was younger but I think I've grown allergic judging by the swelling of my head. It has been five or six years since that and I haven't been stung since then.

I don't use Outlook, but I've found Thunderbird learns very well. I have yet to see a false positive. Verizon's filters, on the other hand, require me to check every so often because they do catch things from legit mailing lists.
I take everything Thunderbird misses and report it to spam at uce dot gov
They're probably sick of me by now.
I like Thunderbird because it is the only currently supported email client that lets me look at the source of the message without opening it first. Outlook Express does, but it is no longer supported and Windows Search prevents it from compacting folders, which means they'll get corrupted.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that the Los Angeles County coroner has ruled Michael Jackson's death a homicide.
The finding makes it more likely criminal charges will be filed against the doctor who was with the pop star when he died.
The official says the coroner determined a fatal combination of drugs was given to Jackson hours before he died in his rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the findings have not been publicly released.
Forensic tests found the powerful anesthetic propofol in Jackson's system along with two sedatives, the official says.
Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician, is the target of a manslaughter probe headed by Los Angeles police.
THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.
HOUSTON (AP) - A search warrant affidavit says Michael Jackson had lethal levels of the powerful anesthetic propofol in his system when he died.
The document unsealed Monday allowed officials to raid the Houston offices and storage facility of Dr. Conrad Murray last month.
It says Murray told a Los Angeles police officer he administered several drugs to Jackson the day he died, including 25 milligrams of the sedative, which he gave intravenously.
The affidavit says Murray never ordered, purchased or received any of the propofol but that the doctor found about eight bottles of it in Jackson's home along with numerous other vials and pills.

That's great. I'm not sure cursive writing is even taught in some public schools anymore. My kids (15 or so years ago) were taught an italic style of writing that is nothing like old-fashioned cursive. They all have terrible handwriting but it's not like anyone writes by hand anymore anyway.

That is unbelievably cool.
Did you watch the video on how they grow? The slo-mo is creepier than any horror movie I've ever seen. Also did you notice the size of that ant that was poking around the plant. Holy moly it looked as big as a kitten.

Eric Holder: he tries to nail the CIA for protecting America, and then pardons Marc Rich for stealing 48 million dollars from her taxpayers and making illegal oil deals with Iran.
Yeah, I hope they run with this one.

A loving and caring family is all it takes to alleviate the pain of culture shock. Children can be harmed by it pretty bad.
Erik you'll be alright, as far as I can tell. You are good people so your girls will be alright.
%P% I am talking from own bad experience.
Which culture "shocked" you, Callahan?

I've met the safari ants several times in Ethiopia and Kenia. They are a force to be reckoned with. They've actually attacked our rabbits and started with their young first. It was a lot of work getting them out of their fur. Poor little bunnies.
The soldier ants of this species measures about half an inch. Pretty big and they can easily pierce skin. When you accidently step into their 'streets' they crawl up your leg and start to attack you. Very painful. Only remedy is to drop the pants and to pick them off individually.
As a Jesuit priest once told me: 'They go for the nice 'n tender parts'.
Tough critters.

For everyone who has raised a son...
Now is the time to get things done...
Wade in the water,
Sit in the sun,
Squish my toes in the mud by the door,
Explore the world with a boy just four.
Now is the time to study books,
Flowers,
Snails.
How a cloud looks,
To ponder "up",
Where God sleeps nights,
Why mosquitoes take such big bites.
Later there'll be time
To sew and clean,
Paint the hall
That soft new green,
To make new drapes, refinish the floor,
Later on...when he's not just four.

*sniffle*
Time passed so quickly...
Yes - I sniffle with you. My three are now almost 50, almost 45, and 39.
We have 4 great-grandsons, living miles and miles away, and a 16-month-old grandson here in town. JOY!
But Kodak stock - we're keeping them in business (yes, print film - in a Nikon N-90).

Just received my kindle, (purchased through LGF amazon link) and it is my new best friend. Would not have known about it without LGF, thanks Charles!! Also, for the aviation people out there, I now have all the IFR charts for all the airports west of the Mississippi on my kindle, for free. Way cool!!
