Right Wing Raving Homophobia Watch

Wingnuts • Views: 2,909

Oh, for Pete’s sake. Today’s winner in the right wing raving homophobe sweepstakes: Peter Sprigg of James Dobson’s ultra-fundamentalist Family Research Council, with a superheated fantasy about a military turned into a non-stop orgy of gay rape. The proposed repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is working the theocrats into a fine lather.

Family Research Council: End Of DADT Means More Gay Rape In The Military.

Here’s how the Family Research Council envisions things going if Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is repealed: first, more straight soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines will be fellated in their sleep against their will. Then, commanders afraid of being labeled homophobes will refuse to do anything about it. Eventually, the straight service members will quit out of fear.

On a conference call with reporters today, FRC Senior Fellow for Policy Studies Peter Sprigg delivered the results of what he said was the first-ever study of “homosexual assault” in the military. Joined by several former military officers opposed to allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the armed forces, he warned Congress that the DADT repeal language currently under discussion with the agreement of the White House will turn the U.S. military into a terrifying free-rape zone where no heterosexual is safe.

“We are today releasing an analysis of publicly available documents which show that homosexuals in the military are three times more likely to commit sexual assaults than heterosexuals are relative to their numbers,” Sprigg said. “We believe this problem would only increase if the current law against homosexuality…were to be repealed.”

They’ve been discussing this recently on Red Eye. Every time the issue comes up, nobody on the show (guests or regulars) has agreed with DADT. Pretty unusual for a Fox News Show. But I guess that’s one of the reasons it’s on at 3 AM.

This “study” makes the fake climate scientists look great by comparison. I would bet that if a soldier kicked another in the balls in a fight, this study has that incident as a homosexual assault.

This meathead is intentionally evil and knows this is complete BS! I’ve said it a million times before and I will say it again: I have never had ONE case of a homosexual molesting a child in all my years in handling cases of child sex abuse. As a rape crisis counselor…I have never encountered a case where the victim was raped by a homosexual. I am so sick of this LIE being told over and over by fundie religious groups.

Except… every other western military that has allowed openly gay soldiers hasn’t had one problem.

I’m convinced that, especially after the outing of whats-his-face with the prostitute in Miami, that a solid number (majority?) of these FRC-types are self-loathing closeted homosexuals. I mean, who else has the time and energy to give this much of a shit about homosexuality?

9 teleskiguy  Thu, May 27, 2010 10:56:46am

Why do these people always assume that being gay means that you can’t control your urges and be celibate (or just stick to masturbation) should the situation require it of you?

///Yes Mr. Hagard in the back, I understand that you have a theory?

11 b_sharp  Thu, May 27, 2010 10:56:55am

Gays make up what, 10% of the population? That probably translates fairly accurately to the AF, although there may be a trend for gays to avoid service now and try to make up for it if/when the law is trashed.

I find it difficult to believe a small minority could physically overpower a majority even if that majority were asleep.

Hard to believe that this article was written 17 years ago…

Blacks’ Battle in Military Likened to Gays’
Armed forces: Activists point to parallels in arguing for an end to the Pentagon’s ban on homosexuals. But African-American veterans of segregated units are divided over today’s debate.
June 14, 1993%P%H. G. REZA, TIMES STAFF WRITER

SAN DIEGO — Charles M. Bussey noted that a recent national poll showed a 71% approval rating for Gen. Colin L. Powell, and reflected on his own 22-year career as an Army officer.

Although Bussey and Powell are African-Americans and both wore the same uniform, they served in different armies.

Powell, the nation’s top military officer and the first African-American to serve as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, directed the Persian Gulf War.

Bussey enlisted during World War II, when the U.S. armed forces were segregated and blacks were rarely tapped to become officers.

What a difference 50 years has made.

In the eyes of the nation and, especially, the armed forces, the color of Powell’s skin is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is his ability as a military leader.

Not so in the late 1940s and early ’50s, when the military balked at integrating blacks into the armed forces, much the same way the U.S. brass are resisting admitting gays today.

“I saw this country throw away many brilliant young officers who could’ve been the first Colin Powell,” said Bussey. “Their talents were ignored because their faces were black.” Now, as the debate over the military’s ban on homosexuals continues, some gay rights advocates are pointing to the long-ago experiences of African-Americans to support their position that discrimination—whether against blacks decades ago or gays today—is foolish and unjust.

” ‘White soldiers will not shower or sleep in the same barracks as African-Americans. Mixing African-American troops with whites will weaken a unit’s cohesion. ’ These are arguments that opponents of integration were making 50 years ago,” said David M. Smith, spokesman for the Campaign for Military Service, a coalition of gay and civil rights groups battling the Pentagon’s ban on gays. “Substitute ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’ and it’s the same arguments being heard today. The common denominator is prejudice.”

Supporters of the ban argue that it has little or nothing in common with the military’s previous history of racial discrimination.

Black veterans of the segregated military, however, are divided on whether the Pentagon should lift its ban on gays, and whether homosexuals are battling the same type of discrimination that African-American servicemen had to overcome.

This article is disgusting and destructive to our shared values! In fact, it’s right up these FRC fucks’ alley, what with the graphic detail described:

I’ve tried all sorts of things to get them to stop, but it has all been to no avail. A few months back, I started wearing an intimidating-looking black leather thong with menacing metal studs in the hopes that it would frighten those faggots off, but it didn’t work. In fact, it only seemed to encourage them. Then, I really started getting rough, slapping them around whenever they were sucking my cock, but that failed, too. Even pulling out of their mouths just before ejaculation and shooting sperm all over their face, neck, chest and hair seemed to have no effect. What do I have to do to get the message across to these swishes?

I swear, if these homosexuals don’t take a hint and quit sucking my cock all the time, I’m going to have to resort to drastic measures–like maybe pinning them down to the cement floor of the loading dock with my powerful forearms and working my cock all the way up their butt so they understand loud and clear just how much I disapprove of their unwelcome advances. I mean, you can’t get much more direct than that.

We’ve had a number of conversations here about this. It’s not just the fundie homophobes either— it’s really extraordinary how so much of Charles’s hate mail from the right includes graphically detailed homosexual fantasies.

There’s definitely all kinds of loathing, repression, and sick fascination at work.

I suspect projection— not just projecting closeted fantasies either. So many of these obsessed homophobes have this idea that ‘the gay lifestyle’ is one of complete hedonism and promiscuity— it’s hard to escape the notion that they’re projecting their own ideas about sexuality: that it’s an uncontrollable urge held in check by women only, and without women to ‘hold it back’, it’s a free for all. (They’re always obsessed with gay men, not with gay women).

Basically I think it reveals that they have issues not merely with ‘teh ghey’ but with women too. And sex itself.

It’s funny you mention that because having grown up watching “All in the Family” I sometimes think, in retrospect, that the character “Archie Bunker” seems more reasonable then some of what we’ve seen since America elected the first black president. It also reminds me of how little things have changed since then and how much this country has repressed over the years and how it has regressed.

Nice close up of the ROV at the leak site above the stack.

It looks like they are dropping pressure on the mud, testing to see if the well is properly balanced with the hydrostatic pressure of the mud holding the well pressure. Once this is determined to be near zero, in goes the cement to plug it up. This last is the step BP skipped when they decided to displace the mud with seawater. They probably did this dozens of times in the past and so thought it was safe. Nope.

I guess from my nic it’s obvious that I rode submarines. One of the things we feared most were casualties such as fire, collision, and flooding. I can say without reservation that if a shipmate knew exactly what needed to be done, did it quickly and efficiently, and did his part to keep all of us alive…

I couldn’t give a rat’s ass if he was gay - and I’d be the first one to buy him a beer when we got safely back to port.

It takes gut to serve on a sub, I mean on any other kind of ship if it starts to go down you have to have at least some chance of escape, if things go wrong on a sub when its under water… you’re like utterly f***ed…

Why do these people always assume that being gay means that you can’t control your urges and be celibate (or just stick to masturbation) should the situation require it of you?

Can you say “projection”?

77 Macha  Thu, May 27, 2010 11:27:08am

re: #45 iceweasel

It is definitely projection. The more you repress something in yourself, the more likely you are to project it onto someone else. One of the things that the fundamental religions seem to have in common is a very skewed attitude toward sex. They fear and hate women almost as much as they fear and hate homosexuals. The Muslin faith seems to demonstrate this the most openly with the demand that women be covered head to toe. The rationale, as I understand it, is that women cause men to experience sexual feelings. There was a fair amount of this going on as well in the Inquisition. Women were by far the most numerous of the victims. But I digress. The Christian Fundamentalists really seem to feel that gay men have unlimited sex. This is the hidden repressed desire. They’d love a bite of that particular apple.

A bit of expansion on the AFA nutcases’ claim, which is a case of revisionism of the worst kind:

The claim is that the leaders and a large number of the rank-and-file of the Sturmabteilung (aka SA or “brownshirts”) were militant gays.
Nevermind that this group is historically best described as a cross between a militia group and a racist street gang.
Not to mention that this group was wiped out with the leadership executed in 1934 as part of the “Night of Long Knives” purge that saw the rise of the SS.

the only way i can fit “three times as likely” into this trainwreck of a thought is to speculate that you’re three times as likely to get your ass kicked if you attempt to initiate unwanted buttsex in the military.

as if that’s what teh ghey scheme about in their eeevil lavender-draped lairs in the first place…gahhh…

When a woman soldier is sexually assaulted by a man soldier and reports it, she has to continue serving with the same man she’s accused (and all his buddies) while the investigation drags on, some of the commanders tell her if she couldn’t fight it off she’s not tough enough to be in the military, she’s harassed throughout the unit for the “crime” of ruining a man’s career… and sometimes she ends up dead.

If a man soldier is sexually assaulted by a man soldier and reports it, the accused is out of the military. Or maybe dead, if he wasn’t shipped out quick enough.

So yeah, it doesn’t surprise me at all that sexual assaults by homosexuals are far more likely to be reported.

Actually, a large number of the leaders and the rank-and-file members of the SA were militant gays, including Erich Röhm, the top guy.

Another hindrance was the more or less open homosexuality of Röhm and other SA leaders such as his deputy Edmund Heines. [4][5] In 1931, the Münchener Post, a Social Democratic newspaper, obtained and published Röhm’s letters to a friend in which Röhm discussed his sexual affairs with men. This resulted in a national scandal.

But this was not a mark in their favor with Hitler. In fact, it was one of the main reasons for the Night of the Long Knives.

[Link: psychology.ucdavis.edu…]

…For the present discussion, the important point is that many child molesters cannot be meaningfully described as homosexuals, heterosexuals, or bisexuals (in the usual sense of those terms) because they are not really capable of a relationship with an adult man or woman. Instead of gender, their sexual attractions are based primarily on age. These individuals – who are often characterized as fixated – are attracted to children, not to men or women…

Hi sffilk! No, I was a sonar tech (enlisted). I did meet the admiral when he rode our boat on sea trials. I’ve told this story before, but he bunked in the bachelor officer’s quarters at the shipyard, and left a wake-up call for 0430. We sent a runner named Fireman Adams to wake the admiral up. Adams knocked on the door a few times, and got no response.

He finally went in, called the admiral’s name - again with no response. He went up to the bunk and gently shook Rickover by the shoulder, saying “Admiral, sir, it’s 0430 - time to get up.”

Admiral Rickover responded, “Son, you announce the time. I’ll make the decisions.”

Odd guy, but clearly a genius.

A reminder. Peter Sprig is with the Family Research Council who sponsored the Values Voters Summit late last year:

Values Voter Summit

Every fall, FRC Action (the political arm of FRC) holds an annual summit composed of hundreds of conservative Christian activists and evangelical voters in Washington, D.C. In the past, the summit has been a place for social conservatives across the nation to hear Republican presidential hopefuls’ platforms, and also a means of providing an early prediction of which candidate will win the endorsement of Christian conservatives. Featured guests at previous summits include Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Mike Huckabee, George Allen, Tony Snow, Bill Bennett, Stephen Baldwin, and many others. Co-sponsors of the event included other political action arms of major Christian Right groups: Focus on the Family Action (Dr. James Dobson), Americans United to Preserve Marriage (Gary Bauer), and American Family Association Action (Donald Wildmon).

Here’s a list of the invited speakers for the 2010 summit.

Anyone in attendance is aiding and abating to this ideology of hatred.

They want to see if any oil or gas is in the stream, to gauge whether the well is still producing.

Obama Threatens 14 US Governors With Immediate Arrest for the crime of treason.

Ooga! Booga!

The source, Sen. Mark Warner’s office, looks credible enough at first glance but the item is actually a letter from a nutcase constitutent.

Well, rats! The Freeper mods took this down as a “hoax.” I don’t know if they mean the content is false, which would be true of many articles they allow, or if the source is not what it appears to be.

It is, but it’s actually getting a little old for me. Not only is it so very, very easy, but the idea being mocked is always the same.

Mocking grab-bag liberals can be interesting because the illogical reasoning on each issue is always so convoluted. Wingnuts only have one issue, which is that ‘liberals’ are always bad. What they think about any given issue depends on what ‘liberals’ think about it.

I think I’m starting to enjoy making sport of libertarians, though. It’s a philosophy that aspires to erudition, but as soon as you scratch the surface it turns out to be incredibly intellectually lightweight.

It’s been all mud for sometime, it appears they have eased off the pressure to see if the pressure below the BOP will stay low, indicating the column of mud believed to be in the well is in balance with the formation pressure. If it can hold near zero, they can cement it.

re: #10 jamesfirecat

Why do these people always assume that being gay means that you can’t control your urges and be celibate (or just stick to masturbation) should the situation require it of you?

My theory, is that they believe that homosexuality is not just immoral, but seem to couple that with a belief that any immorality is a symptom of a complete lack of morals. Thus, anyone engaged in any behavior they believe is immoral, can be assumed to be completely immoral, and thus incapable of not giving in to temptation.

Yes, it’s ridiculous. But it’s the only way I can see that these folks justify (for themselves) believing this sort of nonsense.
