Sarah Palin Beclowns Self (Again)

Wingnuts • Views: 9,232

Sarah Palin woke up today in a refudiatin’ mood, fired up her Blackberry, and attacked the Obama administration for sending a “Happy B’day” wish to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, with a couple of outrageously outraged Twitter posts:

Americans awaken 2 bizarre natl security thinking of Obama Admn: Ahmadinejad b’day greeting after call 4 Israel’s destruction speaks volumes

[…]

Happy B’day Ahmadinejad wish sent by US Govt. Mind boggling foreign policy: kowtow & coddle enemies; snub allies. Obama Doctrine is nonsense

Here’s what Mama Grizzly’s roaring about: not a “happy birthday” message at all, but two very pointed comments from State Department spokesman PJ Crowley, calling for Ahmadinejad to release two detained American hikers, and change Iran’s relationship to the rest of the world.

Exit question: is Palin just trying to get the wingnuts enraged again, or is she really so dim that she doesn’t see the sarcasm?

Do we need reminding that US relations with Iran are peppered with bizarre messages? This tweet does not even register.

Yes and Yes.

This is another so-called “dog whistle” statement. The broader public wil laugh and think she is jsut being her crazy self, but the wingnut base will look at her statements as expressions of sound, conservative foreign policy.

Hi everyone! Sarah Palin here!

I know, I know, I haven’t been around much lately because I’m on the road all the time trying to win one for America! Go Mama Grizzlies! Yeah!

But I really have to say something about this! Those Islamics are so sneaky, aren’t they? Sneaking into our White House like that, right? You Betcha! I mean, we all really know what Obama is, right?

I’m not saying it! I’m just asking questions! Like, why did he personally send a happy birthday tweet to the dictator of Iran? Was it because he’s going to implement some sort of plan to Islamic all of us too?

And was he actually born there as well?

Just asking! You know, I get asked these things time and time again by my supporters - regular Americans like you and me! And somebody has to ask those things back to our government, before we’re all run over by people with rags on their heads! Right? Right?

It reminds me of when I’m out hunting in the snow and you wanna get in a really good kill and all, and you sorta put on some camouflage to make the moose think you’re a friend but you shoot him between the eyes anyway. Sorta like that! Now, the difference between the Moose and me is that I’m pretty smart, and I have a red jacket.

I know that may not really mean much to some “Americans” who don’t hunt or believe in Jesus, but there’s lots of people out there who understand me! That’s why I’m on Fox, where I can pipe up about all these questions that I have for our…”President”.

Anyway, just checking in and gotta run to sign some more autographs! Remember to vote for your Tea Party candidates who also ask all the right questions!

Seeya,

Sarah.

As Baca’s latest segment shows, he intercepted Angle at McCarran International Airport, and tried to ask her questions about national security and diplomacy, such as her calls for the United States to withdraw from the United Nations, and who would be our country’s willing allies.

Angle answered: “I think when it comes to major policy issues, the people of Nevada are most concerned about our jobs, our homes and our economy.”

“But if you want to be one of 100 U.S. Senators that are going to be deciding on war powers and on ratifying treaties, which is what a Senator has to do, you have to answer these questions.”

“Well, certainly,” said Angle. “And I’ll answer those questions when I’m the Senator.”

Beck worries me much more than Palin at this point.

Beck seems to have this thing about calling out people, often not important people, on vague charges of un-American behavior. His listeners seem to listen. Oakland PD turned the nut who went after the Tides Foundation back, but sooner or later, someone is going to get killed. And Beck will be just like one of my bratty sixth-grade boys. “What did I do? What did I do? I didn’t DO nuthin’! You’re picking on me!”

By turned him back, you mean “shot him”. That one ended in a gunfight, just as I expect (unfortunately) most of these to end. It was blind chance that he didn’t bleed out before being taken to a hospital. At least he gets to find out what he thinks.

(I’m still miffed over that one, you could hear the gunfight from my building and my wife drives that stretch of 580 everyday on her way to work. Ok, she and about a million other people…)

That is the strength of the Tea Party: they can spout ideology and spew vitriol and campaign on voter frustration and indignation without the need to present any concrete policy.

Which seems to be enough to get them into office in the current political climate.

LAS VEGAS — Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle’s campaign is banning two Las Vegas television stations from covering the candidate’s election night party as punishment for asking questions without permission.

Journalists from the local CBS and NBC news affiliates surprised Angle at McCarran International Airport on Friday to ask her questions about national security and unemployment. Video footage shows the GOP Senate candidate telling the reporters she will answer questions once she is elected.

Hours later, Angle spokeswoman Ciara Matthews told the news stations they are no longer invited to the election night party.

National Security and Public Protection

Sharron Angle is a staunch supporter of the U.S. military, and will work tirelessly to secure the peace and security of our country.

She supports strong sanctions against rogue nations that export, support or harbor terrorism and believes that we must do whatever necessary to protect America from terrorism.

The “numerous allegations” of voter fraud here in NV appear to be bullshit as well. It’s amazing how effectively the right-wing plays up these fears in the media.

Sheesh.

Sharron Angle believes all human life is precious, regardless of location, age, infirmity, or degree of dependence.

Sharron has been endorsed by Phyllis Schlafly, Life and Liberty PAC, and Concerned Women for America.

My head hurts so much. How can anyone - however useless Reid is - even consider for a moment Angle? A Senator needs to have some idea about these things. Why aren’t American voters appalled by the astonishing contempt she has for pointedly assuming she doesn’t have to answer sch questions?

I get that Reid is some sort of albatross and a poster boy for what is wrong with the Dems. But Angle is a willfully clueless, insane person with no ability to govern at all.

It is just irresponsible to even consider her.

Palin fans I suppose are worse. Palin is as bad as Angle, but, there is no Reid to have to put on a bunny suit to vote for in her case.

I think the more pertinent question is not which is a more frightening example of what no standards in voting in American politics means, but rather, WTF is wrong with any American who can possibly consider these useless people for office.

Energy Policy

America must build upon her vast coal and natural gas resources to expand our domestic oil resources.

We have the potential both on shore and off to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. This effort will also provide high paying jobs and expand the economy.

America’s policy should be to enforce the rules and regulations currently on the books with respect to off shore drilling. As a result of the recent oil blowout in the Gulf, there is an understandable temptation to overreact and end off shore drilling, but this is the wrong course to take at a critical time.

The Gulf oil spill occurred because British Petroleum took a high risk approach in its drilling program while cutting corners. By contrast, many other companies also drilling in the Gulf have taken a low-risk approach without incident.

This is an indictment of the Federal Government’s Mineral Management agency that is charged with overseeing offshore drilling and protecting our environment. It is not a reason to end off shore drilling and potentially cost Americans thousands of jobs in an already weakened economy.

Hey, uh, Sharron?
Have you seen this?

US drastically cuts Alaska oil reserves estimate

WASHINGTON (Commodity Online) : Eight years after U.S. Geological Survey found that there are around 896 million barrels of undiscovered oil in Alaska, the estimated volume was revised to a significantly lower volume

According to new data by the USGA, the National Petroleum Reserve at Alaska was reduced by nearly 90 percent less than 2002 estimates.

Two middle-aged white Republican activists in Texas allegedly harassed and intimidated at least seven elderly African-American voters at their homes in eastern Texas, according to a complaint filed with the Justice Department on Thursday.
Gerry Hebert, executive director of the Campaign Legal Center, submitted a report to DOJ alleging that two unidentified women visited elderly African-American voters at their homes in Bowie County and questioned them about their mail-in ballot applications, Mother Jones first reported.
The women allegedly showed up to 78-year-old Willard Wherry’s home and asked him who had helped him fill in his mail-in ballot. “We are just trying to be sure no one is trying to coax someone to vote,” one of the woman allegedly told Willard. Other individuals who were allegedly visited by the women were also listed on the complaint.

I was going to write up a Pages entry about that new USGS update to their National Petroleum Reserves (a portion of NW Alaska) findings.

You should see the comments in the Alaska newspapers which covered it - classic denial.

Unfortunately (for you truth-obsessed liberal types), the right-wing is well-aware that people remember and believe allegations, even if subsequently proved false. They are adept at promoting allegations they know, or should know, are false, and, in fact, they consider it a sign of weakness that you are unwilling to do the same.

My dad is a hard-core Republican. A professional, intelligent man who used to be one of the moderate, east-coast Republicans. And he’s a lawyer. As of late, and much to my chagrin, he seems, in his old age, to bob along the waves with his party.

But, he said thus to me about Palin recently:

“She’s a hairdresser/waitress type.”

Finally, we agreed.

One really has to wonder if Sarah Palin really thinks the Obama Administration wished Ahmadinejad a happy birthday. Who knows? As she gets older, her meds will be more difficult to adjust. She knows she has to run for President or Vice President before she loses her looks, so I’m afraid 2012 is the time.
