LAS VEGAS -- Nevada Senate candidate Sharron Angle's campaign is banning two Las Vegas television stations from covering the candidate's election night party as punishment for asking questions without permission.

Journalists from the local CBS and NBC news affiliates surprised Angle at McCarran International Airport on Friday to ask her questions about national security and unemployment. Video footage shows the GOP Senate candidate telling the reporters she will answer questions once she is elected.

Hours later, Angle spokeswoman Ciara Matthews told the news stations they are no longer invited to the election night party.

As to the ones that get elected to the Senate or House, they are probably right. The committee system will bury those people. All they will be able to do is hold crazy press conferences. They won't chair committees or subcommittees, so they won't have the ability to get legislation to the floor.

Paul is one of the instigators in building the anti-TARP movement, and while he hasn't succeeded in that he has come close in making his looney BUY GOLD!! theory of economics negatively affect the US economy, by causing even more distrust of the banking system.

I She's likely lost the independents in DE, from the poll numbers, so Coons looks like he has a slam-dunk on his hands. But, I'll give you your hypothetical. From where I sit, they're about equally over the edge, but Angle has O'Donnell on the curmudgeon scale, which may not make her more effective, but it should make her more obnoxious to McConnell. Which probably counts as more dangerous.

I almost feel some personal sympathy for her on an entirely personal level, she is a rather simple, uncomplicated person with a vulnerable side who seems to feel safe being part of a big family or a movement.

That does not at all imply that I find her fit to hold public office, although from her record, she is not fit to hold down a job in the private sector either...

But once the campaign is over, she will have a career made as some sort of public figure/news speaker, etc., until she totally implodes. At which point I will have to feel sorry for her as a person.

Beginning on Riehl's Big Government blog and dubbed "Operation Alaska Chaos" by C4P, Miller supporters were encouraged to file as write-in candidates so Murkowski's name would be buried on the official list of candidates. It worked.

Things had been going well for Murkowski's campaign, with the Alaska Supreme Court this week overturning a lower court's ruling that would have prevented voters from seeing a list of write-in candidates when they go to the polls. Now it seems that might have been a mixed blessing for Murkowski.

The filing deadline for write-in candidates was yesterday, and the full list came out today, with well over 100 names.

I know... that big bad corporation charges 82.00 dollars a person to enter any of their Florida parks. And I noticed that the company is like some kind of corporate cult. There were employee after employee who had taken the Mark of The Mouse, and wearing large oversized white gloved hands... and they kept trying to wave their hands at me, lulling me into a hypnotic trance.

The whole Disney empire is a prime example of capitalism gone out of control.

Franken's got the guts and brains. What he doesn't have is the tact or experience. And do you really want another Dem leader in Congress who's gonna be vulnerable when his seat comes up?

The GOP is smarter about this--their leaders in Congress tend to come from states like KY, MS, TN, etc., deep red states where they aren't likely to face stiff reelection challenges.

This is a continuation of the culture war and the right's attendant persecution complex.

Angle won't talk to any media except Fox because she and the tea party have decided that all other outlets lean so far to the left that they can't be trusted (i.e., they might actually expect an answer to a difficult question.) Indeed, to them all media besides Fox, WSJ and a few other papers, and talk radio deserves to be vilified.

This meme has been around for decades. Ironically, now with media diversification, the right's argument is weaker than ever before. But if they can win using Fox and ignoring the rest of the media, why not?

I was thinking more in terms of congress men and women then senators.

O am sure there will be some sort of uprising if the Tea Partiers really try to get rid of earmarks or spending in GOP districts. I think that is what Obama is hoping for too which is why he keeps talking about compromise and open to working with.

Congress is crazier than the senate. There was 1 GOPER out of x hundred who voted for the healthcare legislation, from louisiana if i recall.

How about Russ Feingold?

He's in a squeaker now, but if he wins he's got 6 years before he has to worry about it again... and I'm not so sure a majority leader should last more than 6 years anyway.

I realize this thread has pretty much ended, but I just have to note that besides moral problems with torture, studies over the years have shown it just doesn't work. So as much as we might feel better torturing someone to elicit a life saving answer, it probably is the least effective method of gathering useful information.

National Republicans support Angle mainly to see the Democrat Majority leader defeated. I read an article in the Las Vegas Sun that pointed out they should be more careful what they wish for. Republicans are not very likely to gain majority control of the Senate, and a Reid loss in the election means that the Democrats would need to get a new majority leader. The point of the article was that all of the leading contenders are significantly to the left of Reid in the political spectrum, and a lot less desirable to Republicans as majority leader than Reid would be.
