So that’s what they mean by bug-eyed. Cool.
I am procrastinating right now from writing a book about pictures of small things. But they are not this small. In 1600, they couldn’t even SEE this small.

You said, “Folks, of all the cars, no offense, General Motors, please, but of all the cars in the world, the Chevrolet Volt is the Car of the Year? Motor Trend magazine, that’s the end of them. How in the world do they have any credibility? Not one has been sold. The Volt is the Car of the Year.”
So, Mr. Limbaugh; you didn’t enjoy your drive of our 2011 Car of the Year, the Chevrolet Volt? Assuming you’ve been anywhere near the biggest automotive technological breakthrough since … I don’t know, maybe the self-starter, could you even find your way to the front seat? Or are you happy attacking a car that you’ve never even seen in person?
Last time you ranted about the Volt, you got confused about the “range,” and said on the air that the car could be driven no more than 40 miles at a time, period. At least you stayed away from that issue this time, but you continue to attack it as the car only a tree hugging, Obama-supporting Government Motors customer would want. As radio loudmouths like you would note, none of those potential customers were to be found after November 2.
Back to us for a moment, our credibility, Mr. Limbaugh, comes from actually driving and testing the car, and understanding its advanced technology. It comes from driving and testing virtually every new car sold, and from doing this once a year with all the all-new or significantly improved models all at the same time. We test, make judgments and write about things we understand.

Off to the opera… Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini… I was just looking at the synopsis… the whole plot could have been solved if these folks had some good lawyers… and what kind of opera ends happily? I only like operas that end with some Darth Vader looking character coming out of the pit of hell or something.

Alex Jones’ 9-11 truth conspiracy site is still bragging about its partnership with the Drudge report today….
After the Department of Homeland Security announced the TSA will conduct “enhanced” pat downs of people opting out of naked body scanners following the toner non-bombing fiasco earlier in the month, the Drudge Report teamed up with Infowars.com and Prison Planet.com to cover exploding public resistance to the new effort by the government to normalize the populace to ever-increasing police state tactics under the rubric of staged and false flag terrorism.

Few body scan complaints at Harrisburg International Airport
Full body scanners are used only occasionally at an airport like HIA. The system seems to be working pretty smoothly, according to airport managers.
“I found security to be very easy here,” said Tom Jones of Tennessee as he walked through the airport. “Compared to some other airports, it’s easier.”

Sometimes the notes flow as easily as the booze in groups like that.
A little smoke doesn’t hurt too much either.
I used to get together with my brother semi-regularly, and I sure miss that. Right now I play maybe once every couple of weeks when I should be playing several hours every day.

Hey everyone. As some of you know, I finally got promoted (officially) on Monday. Well, after one week of management, I’ve only managed to screw up once! Not a big deal, but now that I’m officially in charge of my department, I’m beginning to learn just how screwed up it is. And now that people have to report to me, I’m learning just how unreliable they can be. Seriously…asking three times to run a set of tests that are getting the attention of upper management? Needless to say, I’m opening new job reqs to help boost the coverage on two of the five product lines I’m now responsible for. My hope is I’ll be able to get some good talent in and be able to compensate for the underachievers (whom I like, but shit, work needs to get done eventually).

I went to Cabo a few winters back. A couple of nights we hung out on the patio in the evenings if we didn’t feel like going out for food. The entertainment was this little mexican dude, a guy playing keyboard, and what I guess was a karaoke machine. Little dude sang great mexican classics all night, but once each night he shifted gears and sang - Wonderful World. And he nailed it. Craziest thing.. skinny little guy, not a lick of english, busting out that raspy classic.

Flash! Conservative commentator at Townhall says that Palin is not competent to run for president. Lynch mob descends (try not to read the comment section, some things will turn your stomach).
[Link: townhall.com…]
Highlight from article:
“After the 2008 campaign revealed her weaknesses on substance, Palin was advised by those who admire her natural gifts to bone up on policy and devote herself to governing Alaska successfully. Instead, she quit her job as governor after two and a half years, published a book (another is due next week), and seemed to chase money and empty celebrity. Now, rather than being able to highlight the accomplishments of Sarah Palin’s Alaska, we get “Sarah Palin’s Alaska,” another cheesy entrant in the reality show genre. She’d so much rather be out dog sledding than in some “dull political office,” she tells the audience. File that.”
This is on Townhall, mind you. It’s true, the Republican establishment will destroy her with a ruthlessness that will make the MSM look lame.

I’ve got a few very good people on my team, three of whom I was involved in hiring myself when I was still unofficially the manager. I prefer to enable and support them and keep them happy, and have them see me as, yes, someone they report to, but also someone they can trust to come to when they have issues. Three of them I’m okay with losing eventually, should the need arise. Two because they don’t get shit done (they’re young, which isn’t a crime, but they’re also lazy), and one who actively campaigned to keep me from moving up because he wanted the job (fortunately, I’m lucky to have a boss who was willing to keep me abreast of his efforts when this happened). Trust level is set to zero in that case. The other two are rock-stars, and I’ll fight to the death to keep them on my team.

re: #89 albusteve

We had a trick play in the 7th and 8th grade that always worked (pre video cameras). We’d send in a sub, take out a player, send in another sub, and have the wide receiver run to the sideline to talk to the coach (but stay in the field). Then we’d get set to call the play, and the other team would notice we were a man short, but thought we were just screwing up. When the play was called, the QB would throw to the WR by the coach, and he’d run down the sideline undefended.

Roethlisberger would try it twice in the same game.
And get away with it against the Cowboys.

legal, but I would never, ever call it…not in middle schools…for shame
Call it in college - see if the QB lives.

Here is an opera clip from Aniara—a Swedish setting of the epic Science Fiction poem. You don’t get a lot of Swedish Sci-Fi opera.

I wonder how the GOP will spin this into a massive failure:
NATO agrees on missile defense shield
Gathered at a summit in Lisbon, leaders of the 28 North Atlantic Treaty Organization states formally committed to a system aimed at protecting the United States and Europe from attack, and offered Russia a chance to collaborate in planning and operations. NATO leaders, who expect Russia to react positively, hope the agreement will lead to cooperation in areas where they could benefit from Moscow’s help, including the war in Afghanistan, nuclear nonproliferation and the standoff with Iran.
President Obama told reporters the administration looked forward to working with the Russians “to build our cooperation with them in this area as well, recognizing that we share many of the same threats.”

No matter what the deal is, its a failure if Obama was behind it. Get with the program.

When the play was called, the QB would throw to the WR by the coach, and he’d run down the sideline undefended.
my boys had a play called the button hook…wide out right, and Nick was in the slot…pull the rt guard and toss a quick pass to the wide out, roll Nick out behind him like a screen, but Nick blazes by him as the LBs bite and takes a backwards toss full stride…he scored at homecoming on that play, 70 yrds but it was call back for holding…same play, only for 80yrds…some DB caught Nick in right front of the endzone, but he bulled his way in….good times, my boy was a serious player, all conference safety…he could stop a Mack truck or cover downfield…Mr Everything

OK well the Russians help Iran with nukes, and then allow us to pay for a system to defend them from Iranian incoming while talking arms reduction with us… it is a puzzelment.

Hey, what’s wrong with Moosecrap?
I live 70km from Moosejaw, and it’s a nice little hick city. As long as you’re drunk when you slip through.

Sneaky…I’m surprised they didn’t throw a penalty for the WR not being in formation.
