I watched that earlier today, along with the promo for The Onion’s upcoming TV channel. Its spoof of regular cable news was so spot on that I think its going to lead to a lot of confusion.

Onion News is hilarious, but that was one of their weaker efforts. My favorite is still the one about the Staples Center collapsing during an LA Clippers game …
I hope all Lizards are having a good holiday and counting your blessings.

Idiots! A child was, in fact, born in Honolulu, on the same date as Barack Obama, and was named Barack Obama. This child, however, was secretly smuggled to a secure location in Ho Chi Minh City, where he is being held to this day. His place, and vaccination records, were taken over by the real Barack Obama, who, having been born in Kenya, in accordance with the prophecy, was then groomed to take over the United States. He was later instructed by his handlers to give up the American citizenship he was so cunningly given, and to become an Indonesian citizen. It’s all out there, if you know where to look, or at least we haven’t been given any proof that it’s not.

hehe Well the loony thing about it, each state Bar Association does a very thorough background search before you can be admitted. It’s part of getting licensed as an attorney, outside of passing the actual test. That’s why guys like Matt Hale are never admitted as an attorney. The B.C. is part of that. In fact. a few of the lawyers I work with just did this - getting a FL license .They not only want dates of divorces, marriages, etc., they want the paperwork. They don’t kid around.
Florida is one of the tougher states, actually, but I think they all, at least require a birth certificate.

You have to understand the dynamics of a stoop. How a stoop is built depends primarily on the total rise–the vertical dimension from the street level to the first floor. The total run–the horizontal length of the stoop depends on the slope of the stoop, which is determined by Brooklyn building codes. A stoop that follows any other city codes is not considered a true Brooklyn stoop. It there for follows that Stoop Ball, which originated in Brooklyn right after WWII, can only be properly played using an authentic Brooklyn brownstone stoop.

The French are an odd lot… not typically pro-Jewish as a state, but there are a number of individuals who have done great things for Jews and humanity. There’s also Father Patrick Dubois who has been working for the last 10 years (I can’t seem to find his website now) to uncover secret mass graves of Jews throughout the Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. I believe he’s found 2000 sites already. My mother’s family was lost in Belarus. At least we never really found out what happened to them. We know what happened there. We were in contact with Father Dubois’ website, but haven’t heard anything recently.

Does that presentation contain new footage? I haven’t seen much of that before but I used to shy away from the Al Durha stuff in my early days here.
France 2 hasn’t released the missing 8 minutes but in the q & a Karsenty goes into more detail about further analysis he has done as well as the game plan with Enderlin - who just published a new huge book in France about the “murder” (my quotes not enderlins) of the boy…
Some of the interesting details in the q & a -
1) How Karsenty in the beginning was up against everyone including Israel
2) Enderlin’s good friends and very well connected in Israel - Shimon Peres’s son n law is a docor who testified for him in the trial in france that Karsenty won
3) David Harris head of the AJC and his asst Hoffenburg (a woman karsenty grew up with and has been friends with for 25 years) were against him. He had to go after them until they relented… He feels she had to say Karsenty is a nut to move up the ladder in the French media…
4) Enderlin mentions a deaf arab they used to read the boy’s father’s lips on the film (xtra footage released at the trial) and the boy’s father is telling the camera man to stop filming (take a break)
5) The father’s scars he mentions again were from an operation he had in Israel 10 years earlier after being nearly beaten to death by the PLO for being a collaborator
He basically says the gig is up for Enderlin - he no longer fears any tricks they could pull out of their hat at this point and that he is going to start suing broadcast networks in France and that he now has many allies on his side and doesn’t need to attack anyone any longer like the AJC etc.. and that a lot of mainstream org’s now back and support him - but that in the Arab/Muslim world and in much of France Enderlin is seen as a deity in the news business - an unbreakable respected g-d of the business - and that his book is a bestseller and that he / Karsenty is still seen as a “nut” in much of France despite his success at the trial…
Al Durra’s image is still seen throughout the Arab and Muslim world… AND EUROPE and he considers this one of the greatest and most successful blood libels in history…

Even if you run anti-virus etc, unless you see symptoms you would have no idea.Or is there an easy way for a kinda savvy user to check besides trusting nod32 or whatever?
There is no simple fix, if there was it would be built in to the operating system.
Its also who network security is an industry.
A laymans interpretation.
Services run on ports, your computer has 65535 ports.
Services are applications.
Webservers are usually on port 80
Secure Webservers are usually on port 443
Email used 25 to send, and 110 (pop3) to recieve.
An owner needs to know what ports are running what services thet have on their systems.
Tools like nmap can be used to determine which ports are open on your computer. Open ports indicate running services.
Systems need to be looked at from ‘inside the network’ tested either locally on the computer, or from another computer inside the network. And from the ‘outside looking in’.
You need to identify the applications you expect to be running and those not.
Close all unneeded services. ( Which can be difficult if you dont know what you need/want.)
Firewalls can be used to limit access to services, both locally (inside your network) and externally (from the internet).
All ports should be closed to the internet except what you must have.
Then if possible, you may be able to reduce access via firewall rules to specific users/computers.
Sometimes you may just have to have a service available to internet access because you need it.
In this case you are left up to both the ‘quality and security’ of the application you are running and the security of the operating system you and using.
Firewall rules should be configured for both inbound and outbound traffic.
Note to all the geeks, yes, I’m trying to keep it fairly basic.
Computer security is like the war on drugs, a never ending battle.
Its not something you get done, its an ongoing procedure.
Now back to your scheduled program.

Not sure,,, but I think theres a tad of overhead there (and yes,, I know the players salaries are included in ‘their” cut)
Who do you think pays when a team is on the road? 100 people (players, coaches, staff, etc) eating three meals a day for 3-4 days. Top shelf hotels rooms,,, etc

Yes, because the NFL, unlike all the other leagues, is a socialist scheme with its Marxist revenue sharing (their redistribution of wealth from the superduper rich to the super rich makes me sick.)
Other sports have franchises end up moving around (remember Seattle Sonics, Charlotte Hornets, MN North Stars?) and have owners who take losses just for the cachet and visibility of owning a pro team.

That’s very helpful. Thank you.
I have this other crazy suggestion-We shut off the hub or all the outgoing ports with a simple command or button on the hub when not in use. Leave it on once a week or month for updates. Saves electricity and the emails will wait for me to wake up have coffee and take a look.

Ok… so we’ve had this Netflix account, get those DVD’s in the mail almost a frequently as junk mail. I didn’t realize it, but the membership we have includes the live streaming of movies and videos over the internet.
So, for Christmas, I buy the family a new Blue Ray DVD player with the Netflix software and I network connection. Hook up the DVD player to the DSL modem, now the family can watch movies on demand on the TV.
And then today, I discovered that the same account can also be used for streaming content over my Ipod Touch using WiFI. There’s an app for that, free, from Netflix.
I’ve had this Ipod Touch for about 3 months now, and I don’t think you could pry it out of my hands if I was dead.

What? 5 years?
Husband in Hot Water: Man Faces Five Years in Prison for Snooping Through Wife’s E-Mails
Could someone face prison time for snooping through a spouse’s e-mails?
For Leon Walker of Michigan, the answer was yes.
Suspecting that his wife was involved with another man, and worried that it was affecting their daughter, Walker logged into Clara Walker’s Gmail account last summer.
Walker, 33, said it was easy for him to log in because his wife kept the password in a book next to the computer.
“I definitely felt it was OK to confirm [the affair] by reading her e-mail in our home,” said Walker.
While Walker believed it was OK, Oakland County prosecutors did not and have charged Walker with felony misuse of a computer. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.
This is Michigan’s first criminal prosecution for snooping through a spouse’s e-mails. So far, two Michigan judges have refused to toss out the charges in the potentially precedent-setting case.
“It’s outrageous. It’s insane,” Walker, who is now divorced, told ABC News.

That doesn’t seem to be the same thing. That’s while the mail is in transit or “before it has been delivered to the person to whom it was directed…” IOW stealing mail. It’s not five years for reading your housemate’s mail. He hasn’t gone to trial yet so the 5 year sentence is still hypothetical. Being that he’s black I’m not very optimistic for his final outcome.

Yes, even with all users they can be hidden.
But another issue you can have is that a service can be named anything, and its name can be a random name on each restart of the service.
So you could close a service you dont recognize for it only to restart itself at a predetermined time or on an event.
We are left needing multiple tools to do our best at security.
There are a few things we should all be doing, yes even those on the right.
1. Keeping your operating system up to date with the manufacturers patches.
This can usually be automated.
2. Having a well configured firewall, this requires knowledge.
3. Having up to date antivirus.
4. If you run services that are publicly available, keep those applications up to date. If possible subscribe to their security updates.

Actually, five years is the penalty of reading someone’s mail.
[Link: www.law.cornell.edu…]But since it does seem severe, I imagine other things were going on beside this to have such a harsh sentence.
And here’s some more dirt:
Walker, his then-wife’s third husband, found out his spouse was cheating on him with her second husband, the Free Press reported. Walker also found out that the man had been arrested for assaulting her in front of her son, the Free Press reported.
He then sent the emails to his wife’s first husband, the father of the child, and that’s when things got even more hairy, the newspaper reported.
After the first husband filed for emergency custody, Walker’s wife learned he had supplied her first husband with the emails, which led to Walker’s eventual arrest, according to the Free Press.
So she’s cheating on him with her second husband. This second husband is the same husband that assaulted her in front of the kid. Third husband tells first husband about this and the first husband files for emergency custody. Third husband gets arrested essentially for snitching and his now former wife is back with her wife beating husband.
Amazing.

Really amazing the tangles some people weave with their lives. I feel very sorry for the kid. He’s the one that will suffer the most out of all of this.

I have found in the past couple of years that the virtual server applications like xen / vmware /hyperv, they create virtual devices that are randomly named, which only adds to the joy of sorting whats what.
Two other pet hates:
Spawning processes.
The Windows debug tools.

Absolutely.
All these adults cheating and reading each other’s mail, and sending it on to others and the kid gets - lost in the shuffle. Ick. What a bunch of selfish idiots.

Thats why I like PRCview. It not only lists the services, but gives the full file path to where its running from. It can’t do everything, but its useful for troubleshooting.

appears to be prosecutorial over reach at it’s worst. i hope the media’s exposure of this mess leads to the charges being dropped.

I guess his wife should of thought about that before she decided to engage in an adulterous relationship (i.e. breach of contract) with her second husband.

That’s already been refused by two judges. This law wasn’t really meant for this BTW. It was meant for intellectual property, corporate secrets, etc. It would be interesting to find the text of the law.

She’s the worst culprit!
Her main focus should be bringing up her son - not figuring out which of the many men in her life she wants to cheat with or on next.
Ugh.

Matthews is in “drive up the ratings” mode. This is where show hosts desperate for ratings throw integrity to the wind and use BS stories and ELEVENTY!!1 to try to increase their viewership. It’s sickening, but it has a long and dishonorable pedigree in journalism.
