Bachmann had more than double TPaw's numbers, so while you can say he placed, it wasn't a very secure place. And Rick Perry got more write-ins than Romney got votes.
Bachmann 29% Paul 28% Pawlenty 14% Santorum 10% Cain. 9% Perry write-in 5% Romney 3% Gingrich 2% Huntsman 0% McCotter 0%

Romney didn't officially participate in the straw poll - he chose to ignore it. It is impressive he got any votes.

Design freaks will not want to miss this video.
Watch a piece of history do a quarter mile drag race. Back in the late 30's GM commissioned 12 futuristic trucks, designed by the legend Harvey Earl. These buses were called futurliners. Of these buses nine are still known to excist, although two of them are beyond repair. Futurliner 10 has been restored to immaculate condition, down to the last bolt. Even the writing on the white-walled tires is correct. This bus recently made an attempt to set a speed record. An attempt that failed of course, ending up with a speed of just 28 MPH. But still, not bad for an over 70-year old piece of history.
More information about the restoration of this bus (just look at the state of it at the start of the project!!) can be read
HERE.
A year ago one of the futurliners was shipped to Sweden. It's the first and only Futurliner in Europe. It has found a dedicated owner who plans to restore it over a 10-year period. And this is where he starts off. Take a look at this 360 degrees panorama from the cockpit area.

I used Facebook to do a little outreach to someone I hadn't spoken to in a long time --my mother. I sent birthday greetings. She responded nicely, I responded to that, and then she comes back with a not-nice comment about the sister I don't get along with, which is creeping up on why I don't speak to my mom much. I was given some great advice from someone who has never even seen Facebook:

Five hours of setup, multiple takes on a long shot list and tear down, so we are a bit drained. But the Perseid meteor shower is tonight and I have much a much better wide angle lens and a newer very fast compact flash card suited for long exposures. Hmm. Need some rest but meteor showers are pretty rare. The sky is really clear too. Fatigue vs. fun. What a dilemma.
