Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Armed Volunteer ‘Posses’ Patrolling Arizona Schools

Some posse members have criminal records

Starting today in Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Arizona county: armed volunteer “posses” lurking around schools.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s armed volunteer posses are set to begin patrolling areas around Phoenix, Ariz. schools on Monday, more than a week after the plan drew national attention in the wake of the deadly mass shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn.

Arizona’s 3TV reports that Arpaio’s volunteer force is comprised of around 3,000 members, some of whom have criminal pasts.

According to CBS5, Arpaio’s office has provided a list of more than 50 schools in unincorporated Maricopa County that will be patrolled by the posses, which are in charge of providing all of their own weapons and equipment. The volunteers will not actually be posted on school campuses, but will instead monitor the areas around the facilities.

America’s biggest dickhead sheriff in action folks. Yet DOJ is out of line for investigating this thug.

Oh Fuck No. If this was my kid’s school system I would be raising 100 kinds of hell along with any other parents I could get to join me.

This is going to end badly. I hope I’m wrong.

How long before one of these armed “posse” members takes a “special” interest in “protecting” one particular schoolgirl?

7 FemNaziBitch  Mon, Jan 7, 2013 12:06:31pm

When does “protecting” cross the line into “controlling?”

I think Sheriff Joe has some deep, deep issues.

I was thinking the same thing. Take the guns out of the equation for a minute. What parents would take kindly at ALL to a bunch of guys hanging out watching school kids just off school property? Arizona Sheriff Uses A Tank And Steven Seagal To Arrest Cockfighting Suspect

Arpaio, reports Phoenix news station KPHO, used armored vehicles and a “tank” to execute a search warrant against Jesus Llovera, who was suspected of running a cockfighting ring.

KPHO talked to Debra Ross, one of the neighbors, who was so shocked at the show of force, she called 911.

“When the tank came in and pushed the wall over and you see what’s in there, and all it is, is a bunch of chickens,” Ross told KPHO.

The Sheriff’s Department says the use of force was appropriate, but Llovera’s attorney told KPHO that the whole thing was “a stage, to help actor Steven Seagal’s TV show, Lawman.”

“We heard there was cockfighting, but when we got there, all we found was a bunch of chicken. Very disappointing.”

Previously from Arpaio:

Sheriff Arpaio Will Arm Deputies With Automatic Weapons To Prevent ‘Illegals’ From Escaping

During one of the investigations on Wednesday of this week, Sheriff’s deputies tried to approach a vehicle they had observed at a high rate of speed, when the vehicle sped away, going off road driving through a barb-wire fence into the desert. The suspect vehicle sustained damage to include flat tires but continued to drive for about one mile before eight occupants, including the driver, fled on foot into the thick brush. Immediately deputies created a perimeter and with the use of the Sheriff’s helicopter and K-9 units, they located one suspect hiding in a backyard of a residence and all others hiding in a wash. […]

Sheriff Joe Arpaio says, “Once again the entry into Maricopa County from Mexico by illegal aliens does not seem to have subsided by evidence of numerous arrests made by my deputies. Aside from their determination to get away we will continue to make every effort to pursue and apprehend human smugglers as well as drug traffickers. More and more illegal aliens are attempting to escape which places my deputies in dangerous positions. In the near future I will be issuing automatic weapons for all my deputies”.

Because nothing says justice like machine gunning down fleeing suspects for daring to run away.

Simple. Wait for bad Yokel to start shooting. Wait for good Yokel to shoot him. Then you run the mass-shooter logic-loop.

Was shooter white? If yes, enter loop. If else, stop.
Did shooter play video games? If yes, stop. If else, continue.

For example, Waco Cardiology Associates is included on the list. But an official at the heart doctors’ office said they obviously are not participants in the program.

The program’s key services include contraceptives, cervical cancer screenings and sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment, none of which are offered at Waco Cardiology Associates.

The list generated by the state’s website also includes a handful of emergency medicine physicians from Waco’s two hospitals.

Although such doctors theoretically could handle family planning needs, neither hospital wants to encourage women to seek that type of care in an expensive emergency setting.

The list also includes a few physicians who either no longer work in Waco or who have changed specialties.

For example, one physician who used to practice family medicine is on the list, even though she now only does wound care work.

The above graphic, passed along by the Huffington Post‘s Laura Bassett, was put together by the Enliven Project using data from Department of Justice’s National Crime Victimization Survey and FBI reports. It drives home extremely well the fact that false rape accusations are exceedingly rare, despite what media reports might suggest. Almost as rare are cases when rapists actually go to jail.

Alex Jones in airport showdown with TSA for refusing to remove his shoes

“Despite Jones’ protests that he was clearly being discriminated against because he was a known critic of the TSA (the rest of the TSA screeners also knew him by name), the officer growled, ‘Take your damn shoes off or I’m gonna arrest you,’” according to Inforwars.

The radio host argued that he had not wanted to take off his shoes because “he had caught athletes foot from that very process in another airport.”

Although he did eventually eventually agree to be searched, he claimed that TSA screeners manually set off the metal detector, “possibly by order of the officer, so that they could harass Jones further.”

Jones was reportedly traveling to New York to appear on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight.

Infowars also posted a photo of the confrontation on Facebook, but not everyone was supportive.

“Like the TSA or not Alex Jones is full of shit,” Ray Lynch wrote. “You put your fucking finger in my face like that and your God-damned shoes are going to be the least of your problems. Purely a stunt. While I’m at it…..fuck Piers Morgan too. I’m surprised they didn’t ‘plant’ marijuana or a gun on him. I’d give the police officer a commendation for not beating that mother fucker’s ass on video. That’s clearly what he was looking for.”

Alabama white supremacist charged for plot to blow up black and gay students

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor on Sunday said that Derek Shrout had been arrested after a teacher turned over a journal which indicated that his homemade grenades were just “a step or two away from being ready to explode,” according to the Ledger-Enquirer.

A Friday search of Shrout’s home turned up bomb-making materials, including dozens of tobacco cans and two large cans filled with pellets to be used as shrapnel. The two large cans were labeled “Fat Boy” and “Little Man,” a reference to the atomic bombs that the U.S. dropped on Japan during World War II.

Reports indicated that the 17-year-old student, who was part of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC), had gotten mixed up with a white supremacist group after moving from Kansas to Fort Benning with his military family.

“At first through JROTC, he was confident, well-rounded, but as time went by, he was doing the whole white power thing,” senior class president David Kelly told WTVM.

121 Mr.Boots  Mon, Jan 7, 2013 1:29:52pm

After a scan of the comments, I haven’t noticed a comment on a primary issue. As a former teacher and school administrator, I’m familiar with a problem that seems to be unanswered.

In the case of an actual situation, who is in charge? When security was introduced in and around our schools, this had to be determined. If a teacher (or administartor) is on the scene, does the security force (particularly in this case of volunteers) take orders or direction from faculty or admin, or are they autonomous? Until this was determined in my former district, we had $10 an hour security guards trying to tell, and often countermanding senior teacher’s directions to students. This created chaos in several serious situations. Does Sheriff Joe’s “posse” answer to him, to school administrators, to anybody in a crisis situation?

U.S. Spent More On Immigration Than All Other Federal Enforcement Agencies Combined

During the 2012 fiscal year, the federal government spent more on immigration enforcement — $18 billion — than on every other federal law enforcement agencies combined, according to a new report from the Migration Policy Institute. The spending on Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection dwarfs the combined $14.4 billion spent on the FBI; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Secret Service.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow the hell down here. That’s an awful, awful lot of thinking for those folks to be doing. Most of those gun-totin’ posse members probably overheat just trying to figure out how to tie their shoes…you know what, scratch that, they’re probably a velcro-only crowd. Either way, too much thinking for them.

Technically, they’re not actually supposed to be on school grounds, just the ‘surrounding areas.’

And as for school security guards….umm, I wouldn’t give a flying damn if they were in charge, I’d sooner listen to a substitute teacher. Most of the school security guards I’ve known are overweight ex-jocks with attitude problems.

re: #124 Ghost of Tom Joad

‘Technically, they’re not actually supposed to be on school grounds, just the ‘surrounding areas.’

Fat chance. I know from experience that these guys will all have a police scanner on, and as soon as a call goes out for a sector car to report to a school, they’ll come flying onto campus looking to effect a citizen’s arrest before a uniformed officer can arrive. More than a few times, I called 911 for a sector car to report to my building because we had apprehended a student for drug possession or some other arrestable offence, only to have some auxiliary police officer, who was hanging out at the volunteer fire house with his scanner on, come flying in into the building looking to take over and to be a hero. Many times, I had to tell him GTFO, the situation was well in-hand, we were just waiting for the local LEOs and we neither needed nor wanted their help.
