Seems like the source the wingnuts are using to say the media scrubbed the manifesto is the website: CRIME, GUNS, AND VIDEOTAPE. SOOPER MEXICAN is trying to take credit. The additions reads like a laundry list of wingnut fantasies. From the alleged un-scrubbed manifesto:

“Who in there right mind needs a f***ing silencer!!! who needs a freaking SBR AR15? No one. No more Virginia Tech, Columbine HS, Wisconsin temple, Aurora theatre, Portland malls, Tucson rally, Newtown Sandy Hook. Whether by executive order or thru a bi-partisan congress an assault weapons ban needs to be re-instituted. Period!!!

Mia Farrow said it best. “Gun control is no longer debatable, it’s not a conversation, its a moral mandate.”

Sen. Feinstein, you are doing the right thing in leading the re-institution of a national AWB. Never again should any public official state that their prayers and thoughts are with the family.
… Mr. Vice President [Biden], do your due diligence when formulating a concise and permanent national AWB plan. Future generations of Americans depend on your plan and advisement to the president. I’ve always been a fan of yours and consider you one of the few genuine and charismatic politicians.

… Hillary Clinton. You’ll make one hell of a president in 2016. Much like your husband, Bill, you will be one of the greatest. Look at Castro in San Antonio as a running mate or possible secretary of state. He’s (good people) and I have faith and confidence in him.

…Wayne LaPierre, President of the NRA, you’re a vile and inhumane piece of s***. You never even showed 30 seconds of empathy for the children, teachers, and families of Sandy Hook.

…give Piers Morgan an indefinite resident alien and Visa card. Mr. Morgan, the problem that many American gun owners have with you and your continuous discussion of gun control is that you are not an American citizen and have an accent that is distinct and clarifies that you are a foreigner. I want you to know that I agree with you 100% on enacting stricter firearm laws.

… Chris Matthews, Joe Scarborough, Pat Harvey, Brian Williams, Soledad Obrien, Wolf Blitzer, Meredith Viera, Tavis Smiley, and Anderson Cooper, keep up the great work and follow Cronkite’s lead.”

I’ve seen some of those reported elsewhere.

The media HAS been asked by the cops to use a redacted version which doesn’t include specific names of police officers who are currently targets.

What Is Terrifying Glenn Beck Today? Technology

It is unfortunate that Glenn Beck never attended college, because then he would have had ample opportunity to stay up all night engaging in long pseudo-philosophical debates about the hypothetical ramifications of emerging technology on the future of society … and he could have gotten it out of his system.

Instead, he is doing it now, dedicating show after show to spreading increasingly panicked warnings about how humanity is about to reach a “singularity,” an explosion in technological advances so significant that they surpass human understanding and control.

This fast-approaching moment is Beck’s current obsession because he is terrified that if progressives are in control when it happens, it will lead to abominations like “transhumanism” and atrocities akin to what happened under the Nazis:

Pastor apologizes for praying alongside Muslims, Jews at Newtown vigil

A pastor in Connecticut has apologized for taking part in a vigil for the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School because his church does not allow worshiping with other faiths.

Rev. Rob Morris of Newtown’s Christ the King Lutheran Church offered a letter of apology after he was reprimanded by church president Matthew Harrison for “joint worship with other religions,” according to the Religion News Service.

What GOP war on women?

Iowa bill would jail raped women for ‘murder’ of single-cell zygotes

A bill introduced by nine Republican state lawmakers in Iowa on Wednesday would define abortion as “murder,” sending doctors and raped women who terminate pregnancies to jail.

State Rep. Tom Shaw says that he authored House File 138 to protect human life, whether “you’re a zygote, an infant, a teenager or an adult.”

The bill defines a “person” as “an individual human being, without regard to age of development, from the moment of conception, when a zygote is formed, until natural death.”

“Murder includes killing another person through any means that terminates the life of the other person including but not limited to the use of abortion-inducing drugs,” the measure states without making any exceptions for rape or incest.

Republican state Rep. Rob Bacon, who is co-sponsoring the bill, told the Ames Tribune that he wanted to “protect the life of the unborn” because “[t]here’s still some of us that believe life begins at conception.”

re: #73 Kragar

Republican state Rep. Rob Bacon, who is co-sponsoring the bill, told the Ames Tribune that he wanted to “protect the life of the unborn” because “[t]here’s still some of us that believe life begins at conception.”

Thus giving women fewer rights than dead people. Organs cannot be harvested from the deceased without explicit, written permission to do so before death. No one can be forced to even donate blood to save the life of another. Yet, these assholes would deny the right of bodily autonomy to women, forcing them to donate their bodies and organs to support the life of another regardless of their desires.

It definitely is a shoot-first situation. If I had a pickup truck, I would not be driving it today anywhere in southern California.

……In other words, the killer is likely to just randomly shoot at anything, including the clouds, because it may have looked at him funny.

Yet the gun-nuts think everybody should be armed to handle intense life-or-death situations when the LA fucking PD thinks they’re in the middle of the Wild West.

I’m sitting here, wondering what the scene would have been had one of those the LAPD opened fire on was a gun nut who fired back. Who’s the “good guy with a gun” in that scenario?

They are frightened. Knowing they are being hunted by an expert killer has made them jumpy. I see that truck was a Honda, no ski racks. Yikes.

I can just imagine the repercussions of such an incident. Every gun-humping yahoo with Wolverines! fantasies would probably shoot a cop for a damn traffic-ticket.

Federal Prison Population Spiked 790 Percent Since 1980

The U.S. federal prison population has increased almost 790 percent since 1980 from about 25,000 inmates to 219,000 in 2012, according to a new Congressional Research report. Federal prisons make up the largest component of a U.S. prison system that dwarfs all others in the world. The agency tasked with providing policy analysis to Congress attributes the spike to a host of tough-on-crime reforms that include draconian mandatory minimum sentences, the elimination of parole for any federal crime committed after 1987, and increasing enforcement by federal officials:

Research by the Urban Institute found that increases in expected time served contributed to half of the prison population growth between 1998 and 2010. The increase in amount of time inmates were expected to serve was probably partially the result of inmates receiving longer sentences and partially the result of inmates being required to serve approximately 85% of their sentences after Congress eliminated parole for federal prisoners.

And I am not a rail-on-Obama guy but the total lack of any action from him, even quiet, behind-the-scenes action, is pretty bad. It’s one of the biggest problems facing our society, and it’s one that has major downstream effects.

By controlling the Justice Department, Obama has a lot of leeway to affect this without involving congress.

Eh, reminds me of what Chris Rock said.

“Now they’re blaming the foreigners. Yes, black people are off the hook. But if you listen closely, you know that ni-CLANGs and Jews are next. That train’s never late!”

Paraphrase, don’t remember it word-for, but they’ll eventually get there. That train’s never late.

I also blame the private prison industry for lobbying lawmakers to get tougher on crime so they can make a buck.

The percentage of private prisons is still small, and this is a case where the public version isn’t better; the prison guard’s union in California is one of the most anti-progressive forces there, campaigning for minimum sentencing laws, three strikes laws, against decriminalizing marijuana, etc. This is a problem that spans public and private alike, though I totally agree private prisons are even more problematic in this context.
