Ted Cruz Bilks the Rubes, Makes Millions From Tea Partiers

All about the Benjamins
Politics • Views: 24,380

This is what Ted Cruz’s idiotic fake filibuster was all about: parting Tea Partiers from their cash: Ted Cruz’s Fake Fight Against Obamacare Is Making Millions.

Fast forward one year and Cruz has become a superstar for the conservative movement that the Senate Conservatives Fund is looking to harness. Thanks to Cruz’s star power, they’re doing it. As Cruz and Lee’s multimedia campaign blanketed the country, the month of August, typically a snooze for D.C.-based fundraisers, yielded the SCF’s largest nonelection year fundraising month to date, at $1.5 million.

Most importantly, the SCF now has in its possession a massive email list of potential like-minded donors, thanks to the 1.5 million people who signed the defund petition on the Don’tFundObamaCare website. While “a list” may just be a roster in some circles, in the parlance of power and politics, a list is nothing less than a warchest-in-waiting for the SCF to use on behalf of its allies and against its enemies in the 2014 mid-term elections and the 2016 presidential race. It also makes the SCF the most relevant, and possibly the most powerful, conservative group in the country, including the Club for Growth and FreedomWorks.

If anyone is still confused after the Obamacare funding fight (faux filibuster and all), Ted Cruz is now a 2016 contender and the SCF’s biggest ally. Its enemies are many of the men and women he shares a cloakroom with—any Republican senator who did not join in.

Glenn Beck’s Ideal Government

Near the end of his radio broadcast today, Glenn Beck began to promote the prospect of Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert launching a primary challenge against Republican Senator John Cornyn, resulting in a delegation to the US Senate that would consist of “a couple of ass-kickers” in Gohmert and Ted Cruz.

The idea so enthralled Beck that he began laying out his fantasy government of the future, consisting of Cruz as President, Rand Paul as Vice President, Ron Paul as Treasury Secretary, and Gohmert as Secretary of State.

When co-host Pat Gray pointed out that if Cruz and Gohmert were both serving in the administration, Texas would need two new senators, Beck suggested that he and Gray could fill those positions, which prompted co-host Stu Burguiere to declare that there is no way he’d ever vote for Beck.

“You’re a loose cannon,” Burguiere said. “I don’t trust this guy at all”:

L.A. school district distributes locked down Ipads for kids to use in class, kids promptly find way to bypass lockout

If you hand out iPads to a bunch of adult employees and tell them the devices can only be used for work purposes, some of them will abide by those guidelines. Do the same thing with a school full of kids and most of them will be Tweeting and on Facebook in a matter of seconds. And yet the nation’s second-largest school district is shocked that several hundred students have taken advantage of a simple work-around that turns a boring school tablet into a fun tablet computer.

The Los Angeles Unified School District — not to be confused with the Manchester United Football Club — recently began rolling out its $1 billion program to get an iPad into the hands of every kid within a year.
But so kids aren’t playing games or social media-ing when they are supposed to be learning, the iPads are locked down, giving the students only very limited access to apps and the Internet… at least until the student deletes her personal profile and then has access to the device’s full capabilities.

The L.A. Times reports that students at one school immediately began tinkering with their new iPads once they realized they were useless outside of the school.

23 wrenchwench  Wed, Sep 25, 2013 12:25:57pm

From the Senate Conservatives Fund:

DON’T FUND IT

Obamacare is unaffordable, unworkable, and it’s unfair. Republicans can stop it if they show courage and refuse to fund it.

Unfortunately, many Republicans are unwilling to stand up to President Obama and the Democrats.

These Republicans, led by Mitch McConnell (R-KY), are planning to give Harry Reid their votes on “cloture” to let the Democrats fund Obamacare.

They have chosen to surrender. Even worse, they’re lying about it.

Rather than admitting they aren’t willing to take a stand, they’re trying to trick people into thinking their votes for cloture are actually votes against Obamacare. We can’t let them get away with it.

A vote for cloture is a vote to fund Obamacare.

Didn’t their hero, Cruz, for for cloture?
