Just for kicks, I checked my rates for the “Platinum” plan here in California. Roughly $200 a month less than my current “Bronze” level plan with Blue shield.

Edit: I should mention that the lower rate for the better plan is with the same insurance company I have now!

Too bad the exchange is so jammed I can’t get on to sign up. Maybe in a month things will calm down.

No pent up demand or anything… But if you get the 404 or other error indicating site overload, that’s a fail according to GOPers? Hardly.

But it shows that fighting the ACA/Obamacare will be the worst thing you’ve done in a long long time. And that’s saying something.

The GOP went from compassionate conservatism and expanding Medicaid Part D to demanding that Obamacare be defunded, delayed, and ultimately destroyed for its ability to provide affordable health insurance to those who were previously unable to access affordable insurance.

The “misspeak” is meant to soften up Perry’s image going into 2016 and the court review of the abortion regs the Texas legislature just rammed through. They think that because Perry may have a family member who’s open to abortion doesn’t make his actual position and legislative/political actions any less odious. His goal is to outlaw abortion, and the means/methods show that he doesn’t tolerate dissent. That’s why he needed special sessions (plural) to get it done, especially when Davis filibustered (a real one to run out the clock, not the Cruz pontification with approval from the chair).

Fox News’ Kilmeade slams GOP for shutdown: ‘8 million more people voted for’ Obamacare

Just hours after a stalemate in Congress forced a partial government shutdown, Fox & Friends host Elisabeth Hasselbeck praised Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and tea party Republicans because she said “it is worth the fight” to defund or delay Obamacare.

“All you have to do is look at the polls,” co-host Steve Doocy agreed. “While it is law of the land, it is wildly unpopular in this country. So a lot of people go, ‘You know what? The tea party wing of the Republican Party, they’re holding the rest of the Congress hostage.’ You know what? Those people, many of them were elected to — they campaigned on, ‘If you send me to Washington, I will do everything I can to defund or delay it.’”

Kilmeade then stunned his co-hosts by speaking up in defense of the law.

“You say it’s unpopular and over 50 percent of the country doesn’t seem to want it, but 8 million more people voted for it because Mitt Romney would have been president,” Kilmeade pointed out.

“But the November election last time was not about Obamacare,” Doocy objected.

“But he talked a lot about it,” Kilmeade insisted. “And they knew that if they elected Mitt Romney, he would have repealed it.”

“And on top of that, too, if this thing is so bad and is so unorganized as we’re seeing this morning it is, why not let it start?” he added. “Because then you could get the Senate if you’re a Republican and maybe you have a shot at the White House if you’re a Republican, and you could begin to unwind it. But right now, it’s been flooded with the lockdown information.”

Neural whips and shock batons were then used to restore order.

OMG: The veterans have stormed the mall… they’ve crossed the line. They’ve … wait, a couple of the usual suspects (including Bachmann) from Congress opened up the WWII memorial to veterans who had been scheduled to visit despite it, and all other NPS sites nationally closed due to the shutdown.

It makes for a great photo op, but not in the way that Bachmann and the rest of the GOP think.

It shows just how they’re screwing everyone, including those veterans (who get the federal TriCare health insurance) while fighting to prevent anyone from using Obamacare’s exchanges that offer up insurance policies provided by multiple insurers to people who were previously unable to afford them.

No, what those veterans should have done is stormed GOP offices in Congress demanding that they cut the crap and pass a clean budget.

I don’t always agree with Andrew Sullivan, but I think he put it very well today:

“But what has to be resisted is any idea that this is government or politics as usual. It is an attack on the governance and the constitutional order of the United States.

“When ideologies become as calcified, as cocooned and as extremist as those galvanizing the GOP, the American system of government cannot work. But I fear this nullification of the last two elections is a deliberate attempt to ensure that the American system of government as we have known it cannot work. It cannot, must not work, in the mindset of these radicals, because they simply do not accept the legitimacy of a President and Congress of the opposing party.”

I’m calling BS. His IMDB list - quite a few of his movies had CA filming locations; if the movie or show wasn’t in CA, it was due to other states providing incentives to film there, that trumped the Hollywood and CA incentives. Film production incentives are significant reason film productions go outside CA or even NY. Costs to film on location another reason, which is why Toronto or Vancouver are frequently stand-ins for NYC or LA.

For instance, he was in The Chosen One (2010) - filming locations include: Santa Clarita CA, Costa Rica, and Los Angeles, CA.

I rate his statement - pure, unadulterated BS (and I can’t believe I’m fisking Rob Schneider).

How do people who utterly lack self-awareness survive?

I mean, clearly they do, because Republicans and tea partiers are giving us examples all over. But I’m trying to figure out how.

Same thing goes for the secretarial staff at the FAA. They might not be essential for today, but making sure that all the paperwork and filings are handled appropriate over time will surely come home to roost.

There’s a reason that offices have support staff.

Anyone who has ever rolled out a new application to production knows that Murphy’s Law always prevails.

Healthcare.gov did a major rollout on the same day that the support team was declared “non-essential.”

You will laugh: francis has suggested that the ACA should have considered two good examples of healthcare programs in this nation - Medicare and the Mass. program.

Without the least hint of irony.

Not only survive, but actually THRIVE. I think the answer is that a grasp of reality can actually hold you back from doing things that sober reflection would tell you are bound to fail, and often these things succeed spectacularly, reaching a zenith of success just before they inevitably crash to earth in a Hindenburg-like conflagration, which sober reflection predicted.

But if you can sell out before the hydrogen catches fire, you’re golden.

Glenn Beck Vows To Camp Outside Of Louie Gohmert’s House Until He Agrees To Runs For US Senate

“Last night, I made up my mind,” Beck declared. “I am going to camp outside of Louie Gohmert’s house if I have to, and I mean it. I am going to be Louie Gohmert’s worst nightmare until he says ‘yes, I’m going to run for Senate.”

Beck went on to call upon his listening audience to take over the various government institutions in their respective hometowns and “make sure there is not a single progressive that is running our towns, there’s not a single progressive on our city councils, there’s not a single progressive in our school boards … Zero tolerance!”

But the Democrats need to negotiate.

I heard a caller on KGO this morning say the problem was that Obama absolutely refuses to compromise about anything. I had to turn the radio off, because seeing the guy in the next lane pounding the roof of his car with his fist a la John Goodman in Raising Arizona would be disconserting.

No, no, you’re misinterpreting it. Cruz meant ‘When YOU have nothing left to burn, YOU set YOURSELF on fire. I’ll support you!’

So the usual idiots are out in force today claiming that the busy phone lines and website delays caused by tons of activity are proof Obamacare is a giant failure. Never mind that any new rollout of any new product or business often have the same issues. Oh, and idiot conservatives trying to overwhelm the system? Please do proceed, it makes things look even MORE popular. You freaking dumbasses. God what a bunch of babies(and I mean no offense to actual babies, who are cute and make you go “awww”)

Um, you have until March for this first enrollment period… so give it a couple weeks if you meet delays today. Do they not know this?

Nevermind, these freaks can’t be reasoned with. I would like to know though, how many of those site cloggers end up buying insurance through the exchanges when they see how much money they can save. While still bitching about the horror of affordable healthcare.
