Rush Limbaugh Says Stephen Colbert Is Destroying Traditional American Values
Rush Limbaugh reacts to the announcement that Stephen Colbert will replace David Letterman with the usual dire predictions of the end of American “traditional values,” the same old snake oil Limbaugh’s been tirelessly selling the right wing base for 25 years now.
I’ll give you the short version: CBS has just declared war on the heartland of America. There is a… no longer is comedy going to be a covert assault on traditional American values, conservatism. Now it’s just wide out in the open. What this hire means is a redefinition of what is funny and a redefinition of what is comedy. And it’s, it’s a, they’re blowing up the 11:30 format under the guise that the world’s changing, and uh, people don’t want the kind of comedy that Carson gave us or even Letterman, ehh, they don’t want that any more.
It’s uh, it’s, it’s media plantin’ a flag here. It’s an, I think, maybe even media’s last stand, but it’s, it’s a declaration.
So Rush is nostalgic for David Letterman now, eh? Ah yes, those golden moments of traditional 11:30 comedy, lost in the mists of yesteryear:
There’s some traditional American comedy values for ya, Rush!
