Oh joy.

The Oath Keepers, a right-wing law enforcement organization that warns about the government “disarm[ing] the American people” and “blockad[ing] American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps,” also announced that it will send people to support the defiant rancher.

Right-wing law enforcement org? Since when? They’re thugs and bullies.

And this is what the sheriff got for trying to reach a peaceful conclusion to all this, the bully deciding that it’s not enough he won, he’s got to humiliate the other guy and help himself to even more government property.

Are most people still doing all their surfing—and paying-attention-to-the-world—solely from work or something?

The place I was last weekend used to have no cell phone service except if you stood one place ‘downtown’, but then they had a big, big forest fire, and the firefighters were having trouble communicating, so a tower went up. Now they have cell service in the whole community. All it took was a major disaster that they still (2 years later) haven’t recovered from.

The area near the Mexican border has terrible coverage. Hundreds of lives could be saved if the whole border was covered, because the people lost in the desert have phones on them. That’s one thing Gabby Giffords was advocating when she was shot. Haven’t heard much about progress since then.

The degree of coverage in the eastern US is very different than the western US - and rural areas on both sides are lagging behind what’s present in urban areas, both from a Internet connectivity and a cellular coverage point of view.

yep. Cell phone coverage sucks big time. In my county, there are few places where one can get even a tenuous connection, much less anything reliable.
As for internet service, best I can say is that it’s better than dial-up.

I own a 21 string already for travel (Triplett Zephyr) but …I want a 36 string Thormahlen.

Because most of us know this song well it makes it easier to appreciate what an amazing and emotionally charged interpretation of it Tommy puts out here.

Next time you see Tommy you tell him I said, “Hello” and that was the most beautiful version of Over the Rainbow I have ever heard.

We can’t seem to solve politics with truth in spite our own deep, witty and comforting insights.

Whichever side the the political spectrum you fall on, “we can all come together” (ha) and recognize the purity and the truth that Tommy lays down with that Martin.

I had posted this yesterday:

Anyone hear if Ted Nugent is on his way there yet? Glenn Beck? Alex Jones? We need some conservative talk radio and web shows doing broadcasts from on location. Fox Friends live on a couch out on the Federal Land duded up in gen-u-whine cowboy cammo! Let’s make this real big so that when it blows up, it really, really blows up.

Has it happened yet? I haven’t caught any news today…been disconnected from the media all day (not a bad thing!). I figure by now this has got to be turning into a media circus.

Bundy can go back to appropriating federal land for his own use, and the Feds are powerless to protect the public interest. They can hardly give Bundy and his fascist gang a pass and punish others for doing the same. This is likely to set off the greatest land rush in history. Want to drill for oil in the middle of Yellowstone National Park? Go for it. Build an amusement park on the Little Bighorn Battlefield site? Who can stop you? How about a hot dog stand next to the Washington Monument? And why can’t Virginia sheep herders turn their flocks into Arlington National Cemetery to munch on the lush grass there?

Took my g-grandson to see his grandpa today and it was a beautiful day in the park. Walking, feeding the ducks, munchkins playing all over the place—it’s a big park and more crowded than it ever was when I lived in Charlotte with some more activities. We had a great time and it’s true, Charlotte is becoming far more diverse these days.

There were a couple of guys playing guitars and singing folk songs in one of the shelters on one of the hills and they were pretty good—did a great version of “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”, among others.

I also loved Joan Baez’s version.

Okay, I’m blaming this on Charles. About an hour ago I got tired of all the crazy on Twitter and shut it down, deciding to just sort of lurk lazily with the Spy open. Charles started with the spork/foon thing, and then everyone began linking to pics of them, so I went to Amazon to see what they had.

Anyway, long story short, I ended up getting hungry as so often seems to happen when visiting LGF, so I decided to go throw some breaded chicken tenders in the toaster oven. After putting them in, I decided I’d have them with some low-fat ranch dressing today—y’know because of the whole #BundyRanch thing—so opened the fridge to reach for it and when I moved it, this is what was lying in wait behind it:

Carrot? Maybe?

I yanked my hand back thinking, “WTF is that??” Once my pulse went back to normal and I realized that whatever it was is completely desiccated and therefore unlikely to be slimy, smelly, moldy, or otherwise gross, I picked it up and decided to photograph it for you guys. Because I have a camera, but not a life, therefore I feel compelled to share these things with you. //

I think it’s a carrot, but I’m not sure. If it is, I have no idea how it got out of its bag and behind the ranch dressing. Prolly Obama with his government tentacles everywhere. Or maybe it’s an NSA spy thingy. No, wait—ZOMG!!—could it be a Zionist carrot planted by the Mossad…?

Yeah, that’s the thing that the wingnuts who view the government as “tyrannical” or “imperial” forget, if we were talking an uprising during the Founders time, there would be no question as to how the government would respond. The Army would have marched in, seized the cattle, and shot anyone who tried to stop them.

177 Shiplord Kirel  Apr 12, 2014 3:09:54pm

I think the Bundy Bund and their supporters should hold a giant jamboree to celebrate their victory over the feds and the Obammunists, sort of a wingnut Woodstock. Ted Nugent and Charlie Daniels and other fossils could play for free. Coors and other rightwing anti-marijuana activists could provide free beer (always an exciting cocktail with the guns nobody would dare ban from the event). Acres of hastily erected booths could sell patriotic goods like health supplements, Bibles, legacy seeds, and sexy gun posters. For more substantial commerce, patriotic companies like Toyota could set up giant, slick pavilions to hawk their SUVs and pickups. Gun companies could make a killing; er, uh, so to speak.
They will need an appropriate site. It should be large, flat, and nearby. They should obviously hold it on appropriated federal land, just to rub salt in the tyrannical feds’ wounded pride.
I suggest the Nevada Nuclear Test Site.

Speaking of MW, my dad used to eat freaking onion sandwiches: Slather two slices of white bread with MW, cover with a layer of sliced raw white onions, sprinkle with salt & pepper, and much away.

It’s been a long time since I had a TV. Even when I did have one, I didn’t watch that much. So I’d never seen Colbert before the Colbert Report. Until now.

Re: Heartbleed
As a public service, I’d like to critique a bit of NSA-speak: “Capital One uses a version of encryption that is not vulnerable to Heartbleed.” —not that I’m singling them out, just an example.

So they use one that is not vulnerable. Wonderful, but do they use one or more other versions that are (or were) vulnerable? Their quoted statement (or the published quote extracted from it) offers no clue.

Since compression usually means information loss, links to the full official PR statements might be helpful. Or possibly the quotes published are exactly as requested and provided, no more and no less.
