Ebola fears have come home for one North Georgia high school.
Two Heritage High school students who arrived home today from a mission trip to Uganda will stay out of school for the next 21 days.
That’s after many parents raised concern that the 9th and 10th grade sisters might have Ebola.
But that’s despite the fact that the school tells us both the girls are healthy.
And they were in Uganda, in east Africa, which is more than 3 thousand miles from the Ebola hot zone in west Africa.

But yes, it’s funny how liberals are always “blaming Bush” but these are people who still bellyache about the “War of Northern Aggression.” Savage was saying that Obama’s praise of Lincoln meant martial law was most assuredly coming which got me thinking. Pretty telling. What I find amusing is that Reagan actually did all the bad stuff they said Obama will do- amnesty, dealing with terrorists, and running deficits but as I said earlier they worship Reagan so he can literally do no wrong and if they do criticize Reagan, they blame Tip O’Neill for it.
The reason wingnuts love Reagan so much is that he was so great at acting the part of POTUS: the photo-ops, the salutes, the flag-kissing, all that theatrical shit. The fact that he totally sucked at actually BEING President slips right past them because they are so shallow, it’s all about the show, not the substance.
Also too: the reason they all freak out over photos of Obama throwing a baseball, riding a bike, because something something *MANLINESS* argle bargle

I don’t get where you can’t be wealthy and have a problem with income inequality. Why do conservatives hate successful actors?// Really though, it’s like saying “You’re well off so you shouldn’t have a problem with poverty.” The other fact of the matter is these actors unlike many of the wealthy right wing executives don’t have the government subsidizing them.
Also, many actors had to work at all the shit jobs at the low end of the income inequality stick before they got famous. They were waiters, or bartenders, or otherwise stuck in low paying dead-end jobs to pay the bills between acting gigs and auditions until they hit it big.
They might actually have a problem with income inequality because they know firsthand what it’s like to have to scrape loose change together in order to eat, or work insane shifts for shit wages and tips to make rent.

With most celebrities it’s being in the right place at the right time, lots of luck getting the attention of the right director, etc. It also takes talent, but then how do you explain *Bieber*

You know, that’s a point I never really thought about it in regards to actors and politics. But right, very few actors start at the top. Most of the right wing business types that have no problem with income inequality are those like the Waltons or Kochs who inherited most of their money anyhow.

I think it’s sad that a comedian gets inequality more than many politicians do. He’s right. When you’re poor and you bring it up, you’re bitter because you’re not rich. If you’re rich and bring it up, you’re a hypocrite. To me there’s something wrong with a society where a small fraction control the majority of the wealth and if believing so makes me a socialist, I don’t care, call me Karl fucking Marx but I have a problem with that kind of society.

I still subscribe to the age old- “When I fed the poor, I was called a saint but when I asked why are they poor hungry, they called me a communist.” Fact is. Most people with the exception of Randian nutjobs are okay with giving the poor a helping hand. Clothes, food, or whatever but many of those same people get infuriated if you want to discuss the causes of that poverty or solutions to alleviate it. We won’t ever have a classless society IMO but I do feel that every child shouldn’t be denied quality health care, education, etc because of what they were born into. Conservatives seem happy to just accept poor people staying poor because conservatives delude themselves about this idea that the poor man lacks virtue and that is why he is poor and conversely the rich man is filled with it hence why he is rich. I am not saying our own choices don’t effect our outcomes but the actual shaming of the poor by the right is much more offensive than any lefty who criticizes wealthy people who bitch about their taxes being “too high” when taxes are at a fairly historical low in this country.

Right. Really, these people are content with a society where the very poor stay very poor and I think that’s one of the things that separates a liberal from a conservative individual. I’m not against wealth. I’m against a system that is rigged in favor of the already wealthy against those trying to move up the ladder.

Q. How do you feel about Governor Cuomo’s easing the quarantine rule?
A. Governor Cuomo did not ease any restrictions at all. The same policies we put into effect on Friday are still the same policies now. That’s been reported incorrectly. I spoke to Governor Cuomo last night. He’s in the exact same position that’s he’s been all along. So I have no response to him because there’s nothing to respond to. And remember, Illinois has since adopted this policy. So has, now, the state of Maryland. So, I’m telling you guys this is going to become a national policy eventually. Eventually the C.D.C. will come around. And remember, they were late to the game in Texas, and we have people infected because of it.
Except Maryland isn’t doing what Christie did.

I wonder what West would think of a president who laid a wreath at a cemetery with SS men buried there or a president who had an adviser who said “Fuck the Jews they don’t vote for us anyway.” And don’t get me started on Nixon talking about Jews on the Nixon tapes.

Your points about Reagan apply to Republicans in general. They’re much better at theater than Democrats. They’re always outraged about something; if the Democrats are allowed to do anything, it’ll be the end of democracy in the US, etc, etc. In brief, they’re full of shit. Histrionics. It sells.
