I don’t automatically accept this as proof, but in the real world there would be grave consequences if the FBI lied about something this important, and then were found out. Occam’s Razor says it’s more likely they’re telling the truth.

On the ledger of evidence for and against NK involvement, there’s far more evidence pointing to North Korean involvement than not. So far, Chuckles and other ppl claiming that North Korea isn’t involved, or isn’t primarily involved, or had someone on the inside, or other permutations of non-North Korean involvement, have just theories to base their claims on.

The FBI is providing substantive information about why they say NK is behind it. And the FBI is still more trustworthy than Chuckles’ sources.

This is a rather sad and disturbing case. The Connecticut Supreme Court upheld a prior ruling Thursday that a 17-year-old cancer patient cannot refuse chemotherapy treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma.

This young woman had refused chemo, but state protective services had gotten temporary custody to make sure that she received treatments. She had two other treatments before running away, and a missing persons report was filed.

Her mother has stood by her daughter. The daughter then sued to stop the treatments, claiming that she didn’t want to poison her body.

If she were 18, this wouldn’t be an issue since as an adult she’d be able to make the decision to stop her treatment or not do anything. But as a minor, she doesn’t have that right.

By refusing care, she was pretty much giving herself no chance at long term survival. With treatment, she should be able to go into remission.

While people continue to focus on events in Paris and the ongoing manhunt for the duo behind the terror attack yesterday, Boko Haram is busy adding to its already significant body count.

Local officials are warning that hundreds have been killed since the weekend. A few have suggested 2,000 or more are killed or missing as the terror group overran multiple villages and burned everything to the ground in their wake.

And they did so after overrunning government forces in Baga, which houses the headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) made up of troops from Nigeria, Niger and Chad.

Security analysts this week said that Baga was of strategic importance for Boko Haram, as it was thought to be the last town in northern Borno under federal government control.

The militants, who have seized more than two dozen towns in northeast Nigeria in the last six months, now control all three of Borno’s borders with Niger, Chad and Cameroon.

It’s a huge disaster, but sadly we wont see vigils or demands for justice or US force there. Because Africa.

Lions at a Cambridgeshire zoo are being given old trees to play with as a post-Christmas treat.

Real Christmas trees are “like catnip” to lions, Linton Zoological Gardens’ director Kim Simmons said.

The trees are used as toys by the big cats while others are used in the zoo’s bio-burner to provide additional heating for the buildings.

It’s to undermine an ACA provision that requires employers to provide health insurance to anyone working 30 hours or more. They want to require that the health insurance requirement applies to those working 40 hours or more.

Yeah, it’s swell. It’s the GOP doing all it can to screw people who can’t be bothered to read past headlines (which is most of the electorate). TL;DR is a fatal disease (to good government).

This is a rather sad and disturbing case. The Connecticut Supreme Court upheld a prior ruling Thursday that a 17-year-old cancer patient cannot refuse chemotherapy treatment for Hodgkin lymphoma.

This young woman had refused chemo, but state protective services had gotten temporary custody to make sure that she received treatments. She had two other treatments before running away, and a missing persons report was filed.

Her mother has stood by her daughter. The daughter then sued to stop the treatments, claiming that she didn’t want to poison her body.

If she were 18, this wouldn’t be an issue since as an adult she’d be able to make the decision to stop her treatment or not do anything. But as a minor, she doesn’t have that right.

By refusing care, she was pretty much giving herself no chance at long term survival. With treatment, she should be able to go into remission.

What’s disgusting about this ruling is that for medical purposes, she is a minor and unable to make the decision herself. On the other hand, if she was being charged with capitol murder, well she is old enough to be charged as an adult and face adult penalties up to and including death. It’s time for this double standard to go. If a minor is old enough to be charged as an adult under the criminal code then they should be allowed to make adult decisions in civil matters.

I think a good case would be made for the opposite; if they are being treated as a minor for civil matter, then they must be treated as a minor for criminal matters. And if there’s a capital crime committed, then there’d have to be a special disposition requiring the prosecutor to show that the person should be charged as an adult.

What’s disgusting about this ruling is that for medical purposes, she is a minor and unable to make the decision herself. On the other hand, if she was being charged with capitol murder, well she is old enough to be charged as an adult and face adult penalties up to and including death. It’s time for this double standard to go. If a minor is old enough to be charged as an adult under the criminal code then they should be allowed to make adult decisions in civil matters.

She wouldn’t be eligible for the death penalty (Roper v. Simmons).

Same here. I grew up watching quite a bit of anime in my childhood, and I’ve been a fan ever since.

Also, kaiju films and shows like Ultraman. I’d say I’ve been enjoying Japanese pop culture since I was about five or so, LOL.

My nephew had the same Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in his early 20s. Thankfully, after treatment he has been in full remission for over 15 years.
It was tough on him and the family, but I cant imagine any of us not fighting for him to do the treatment.

If she was 18, it wouldn’t matter a fig what you or anyone else thought. We do grant adults the right to make their own medical decisions, even if it results in their death.

I hope to hell my mother would respect and stand by my decision of what to do with my body and not let the courts say that because I am 8 months from being a legal adult who could refuse treatment without any challenges, I should be forced into it.

I am glad my mother didn’t stand by all my decisions when I was 17. Many of them were not well thought out.

No, it is not.
Pregnancy/Abotion is not the same as curable disease vs almost certain death.

She also can’t get married without consent, can’t vote, can’t legally buy cigarettes or alcohol.

Access to abortion is a medical care issue. Abortion is a medical procedure with fewer side effects than chemotherapy. I will note that pregnancy could result in death, with a clear treatment that would save a life in those situations.

I hope it goes into remission and she isn’t in the minority where even with chemo, she passes away.

NPR quoted the mother as saying “she won’t die”.

I really don’t think the child has been raised in an environment that prepared her to make the decision.
