Help Support Little Green Footballs by Donating at Our GoFundMe Page

The LGF fundraising drive
LGF • Views: 27,081

I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and finally got around to it — we now have a page at GoFundMe where you can donate any amount you like to help support LGF, so we can continue providing you with great content and services like our user-submitted LGF Pages. Here’s the link, at which there are more details and a fundraising pitch: Little Green Footballs Fundraiser - GoFundMe.

There’s also a badge at the top of our right sidebar to quickly get to the same page.

Predictably, some of our right wing friends are getting themselves worked up over this and spewing insults; for example, John Nolte from Breitbart “News:”

And of course, the Ginger Avenger also noticed:

So if you need a good reason to donate (besides the fact that it will help pay our server costs), keep in mind that it will make people like John Nolte and Chuck C. Johnson very sad. (Because it will help us continue calling them out for their right wing insanity.)

Thank you very much in advance for anything you can contribute!

Is it like one of those auction house events? No, wait. That’s US elections. Sold to the highest bidder.

Legislation to prevent excessive spending by electoral candidates in the United Kingdom has been in place since 1883. The UK’s system of regulating campaign financing focuses on limiting the expenditure of political parties and individual candidates, rather than limits on donations that can be received by these parties and individuals, combined with a transparent reporting system of donations received and election expenditure incurred .

I think British political campaigns last for about a month.

So Monday I was watching DWTS when Bruno got more emotive than usual and fell off his chair. Last night I was watching the Rockets/Clippers game and during the halftime show, Shac fell off his chair. (That one has been all over the news today.) Both gentlemen were unhurt and both events were treated with hilarity. Yeah, me too - I was hurting with laughter last night at the silliness that ensued.

I think there’s a market here for seatbelts.

In my experience, immediately referencing fellatio tends to be a male insult because it attempts to emasculate. That’s not something women generally feel the need to do (regardless of how coarse their language may be).

His gofundme page has a lot bigger problem than mere typos, let me tell you. The writing is so bad, the punctuation so lacking, the grammar so atrocious that the typos are probably the best part of it. Plus, some of the incorrect words aren’t really typos, they’re examples of the AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST using the wrong version of a homophone.

(and it is also pathetic that the little twit is too lazy to proofread it himself.)

America’s richest congressman says poor in the US are ‘envy of the world’

“If you go to India or you go to any number of third-world countries, you have two problems: you have greater inequality of income and wealth. You also have less opportunity for people to rise from the have-not to the have.”
“I don’t think the comparison is one we want to make,” [CNN Money correspondent Cristina] Alesci responded. “We don’t want to compare ourselves to India. We want to set the bar pretty high.”

“Why shouldn’t we?” Issa countered, before telling her, “I appreciate your comment, but you’re wrong. You do have to compare yourself to the rest of the world. We compete with the rest of the world.”

If you wonder what our conservative aristocracy thinks about income inequality, there it is. They think we should pay the wages that let us compete with labor costs in India.

America’s richest congressman says poor in the US are ‘envy of the world’

If you wonder what our conservative aristocracy thinks about income inequality, there it is. They think we should pay the wages that let us compete with labor costs in India.

What the fuck does Issa know about being poor and going “Oh well India it’s even worse” is just pathetic. Fuck you Darrell, your party only exists for one purpose and that’s to coddle the very wealthy at the expense of the rest of us. Why don’t you go to Appalachia or the Inner City and tell the people there that they’re the “envy” of the world while you’re worth millions. Fucking right wing assholes have no sense of decency at all.

An on-the-ball reporter would have fired back with “So, since we’re comparing ourselves to other countries, why do we spend twice as much as Europe or Canada on healthcare and still have 30 million people uninsured?” And then watch him try to make some noise about how we have the best healthcare before cutting him off at the knees: “We have life expectancies amongst the poor that rival third world nations. How can that be if we have the ‘best healthcare’ in the world?”

Lizard beer fans in the Chicago Area, heads up. My beer club is having our quarterly event, Cerveza De Mayo, on Saturday at our brewhouse (Hubbard and Western). Over 40 home-brewed beers and five local breweries will be on hand be pouring their beers too. Tamales from Pilsen among the many food delights, and maybe live music. I contributed a French Rye Saison De Fuego Petit (modestly chili infused rye saison) that’s pretty damn tasty. We typically draw 250 non-members. It’s a cool event.

$30 gets you everything, and you get a 60 day trial membership thrown in if your thinking about brewing your own. Proceeds go to growing one of the best brew clubs on the planet. You have to sign up to attend (like Utah bars) . Check out it. Details here:

Exactamundo. The issue to me was never the disagreement about the program. It was the stealing of the documents and the dishonesty ignoring that there has been more oversight of the NSA under Obama than there was under Bush but did Glenn concede that? Hell no and the reason why is because Glenn’s a hack.

Pamela’s virulent rage against Muslims reminds me of a story I heard years ago.

There was a Jew who decided he did not want to be observant any more. To show his dissatisfaction with his upbringing, he made sure to eat pork at every meal, eat cheeseburgers and shellfish. On Friday nights he would stand outside the synagogue and smoke a cigarette. Everything he did was to show anger and disrespect to Judaism.

The rabbi came out of the synagogue just as the “rebel” was lighting up another cigarette and said to him “My brother, I want to commend you for the example that you are setting for the congregation. Your knowledge of the laws and customs of our religion are an inspiration to everyone to study and observe. Because how could you know which laws to break if you didn’t study them so assiduously!

Pamela has imposed her own form of “sharia” on herself by living her life according to what she thinks will annoy Muslims, rather than acting according to the positive values of a free and tolerant society.

A rehearsal in central Moscow has revealed some new hi-tech Russian armour for the first time, lifting a veil of military secrecy.

The most talked-about innovation is the Armata T-14 battle tank, described as a new-generation fighting machine to replace Soviet-era tanks. […]

Hey, I love how they finally prevented the auto-loader from ripping the gunners arm off - move the Gunner to the hull!

But yeah, tanks are much more fragile in certain ways than people realize. That’s especially going to be true of a prototype machine like the one in the parade. One of the real reasons the US has not gone to a 3 man crew with an auto-loading canon is that having that fourth man for maintenance makes the vehicle much more reliable long term.

‘It’s not illegal to be black’: Cops complain online about white people getting ‘freaked out’ by their black neighbors and wasting police time with 911 calls

A black person fishing in a community pond, two black people jump-starting a car and ‘someone from the Middle East looking mean’ - these are all ‘suspicious’ scenes that have prompted members of the public to dial 911.

These calls were revealed by serving and former police officers who took to the internet to air their astonishment at white people panicking sometimes simply at the mere sight of someone with different racial lineage being nearby.

Dozens have joined an online discussion thread to share their experiences.

The first post, on Reddit’s ProtectAndServe forum, which was set up for the law enforcement community, was called ‘People, please stop making my job so difficult’ and written by a verified police officer called sf7.

He wrote: ‘So I’m working last week and get dispatched to a call of ‘Suspicious Activity.’ Ya’ll wanna know what the suspicious activity was? Someone walking around in the dark with a flashlight and crow bar? Nope. Someone walking into a bank with a full face mask on? Nope.

‘It was two black males who were jump starting a car at 930 in the morning. That was it. Nothing else. Someone called it in. People. People. People. If you’re going to be a racist, stereotypical jerk… keep it to yourself.’

I know it’s the DM, but they really have a good point this time; Too many white Americans are irrationally afraid of black people. And that fear is a big reason why black people have a negative attitude towards law enforcement: Too many black people have had the police sent after them simply because a white person got scared for no good reason. And even if the cops so sent are professional and decent, the anger about why they were called understandably often still smolders.

You know, in regards to the UK, if the Labour party hadn’t kept pushing right, 2 things would not be happening.

a) The Tories might not have won

b)The SNP wouldn’t have destroyed the Scottish Labour.

In regards to Scotland, it is really sort of hopeless. If they stay in the UK, they will continue to have devastating cuts to education and other things.

If they leave, they have no economic way of supporting all that they want to support, and OIl is beginning to dwindle, not to mention oil prices are now stuck down.

Either way, they are hosed.

The Salt Lake Tribune has this, which is what Breitbart is calling a criminal record.

Soofi was charged in about 20 court cases between 1997 to 2005. The cases consist mostly of traffic violations, many of them for speeding. But Soofi also had several drug- and alcohol-related convictions.

In 2003, Soofi was charged in Salt Lake City’s justice court with class B misdemeanor counts of distributing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The case was dismissed in July 2003. The court docket says the dismissal was in conjunction with a guilty plea to a 2002 federal court case that is not found in U.S. District Court records. Also in July 2003 in justice court, Soofi pleaded guilty to class B misdemeanor simple assault. A misdemeanor count of criminal mischief was dismissed along with disturbing the peace, an infraction.

In March 2002, Soofi pleaded guilty in Salt Lake City’s 3rd District Court to class B misdemeanor reckless driving. A speeding violation — 65 mph in a 35 mph zone — was dismissed. In June 2002, he pleaded guilty to class B misdemeanor driving on an alcohol-related suspended license. In June 2001, Soofi, then 20 years old, pleaded guilty to class B misdemeanor unlawful purchase of alcohol by a minor.

The traffic violations occurred mostly in Salt Lake County, but Soofi also incurred charges in Utah, Davis and Millard counties.

sltrib.com

Misdemeanors and traffic violations.

Soofi’s family members have told the media that he was a good person who was probably influenced by others to become a now-dead gunman.

An unmarried, now-dead gunman. We need to needle UpChuck about his failed reporting.

I’ve heard that Mormons tend to be very cliquish and cold to outsiders.

I have to wonder how hard it is to be Muslim in Utah. Probably harder than being a Muslim in Oklahoma.

Yes, my nationalism still shapes my views of the Mormon Church.

260 Jenner7  May 7, 2015 9:07:14pm

re: #259 The War TARDIS

I was baptized into the church at 8. I left at 16 and got my name off the rolls at 23. I grew up here in Utah and this is my home. In my experience, Mormons have always been nice. But, since I truly left, I don’t know how it is in church anymore. I’m sure it’s cliquish like any other church, but I have never experienced coldness. My ex bishop married me and my husband, fully knowing my opinions on his church.

So, I guess I’m defending them. Didn’t think that would ever happen. lol

There’s a large Bosnian Muslim community in Utah so I don’t think it is that hard. Besides, for many conservative Muslims I am pretty sure they would find Utah to be quite fitting towards their needs.

re: #199 EPR-radar

There’s a total joke. As I recall, Graham had to make full and complete use of the many advantages of Senate incumbency in order to fend off the most recent challenge from the far right.

There is simply no way for him to survive in a GOP POTUS primary.

It really wasn’t as dramatic as the media tried to make it. The loons who ran against him in the primary were well known as loons. Lee (known as not so) Bright, was his closest competition in a 7 way primary, and Bright got 15.5% to Lindsey’s 56.5%. Lindsey polled at close to or over 50% all along. He had money and organization and name recognition out the wazoo.

The primary debates were hilarious. Some of the challenger were so far out there, it was ridiculous. All Lindsey had to do was stand up, act halfway sane, and watch his lunatic challengers trip all over themselves.

All that said, Lindsey doesn’t stand a chance in hell against the Klown Kar folks running for President.

And then, just 4 short years before the Civil War, you had this.

Considering how I will always be considered by 40% of the US to be a traitor because I am Muslim, I am ticked that we are somehow worse than them, even though most of us love this country.

We never attacked the US. They have.

Just a note: the proper response to feeling unjustly attacked by people because of your group affiliation is not to point to someone else’s group affiliation as making them so much worse and have a hate-on for them.
