Common wisdom says that’s bad regional reach.
Just my opinion on a drive-by. Was so happy after hearing everyone’s intro. Wow, we have wonderful people running.
At this point, my quick take:
I guess you could expect it, but I’m already tired of the ‘jump on Clinton’ crap.
Hillary has worked her policies out to a level of detail that I really appreciate, and she has represented that well. Her knowledge of how to deal with adversity and complexity is well above the others, IMO.
I love most of Bernie’s message, but he started out badly, IMO, angry and fumbling his words a bit. He does not meet what I think we need in a President. Maybe a cabinet position?
Webb wants to start a war with China as best I can tell. And the whining about how much time he is not getting is childish.
O’Malley, too many long stories. Baltimore. Sorry, you’re not selling it.
Can’t Chaffee find some job that suits him? He seems like a good, smart guy.

re: #135 Blind Frog Belly White
I have learned to avoid watching the auctions end. I allowed myself to get bid up to $110 on a watch I shouldn’t have paid more than $90 for.
I feel your pain. I’ve learned that on both online and real-world auctions, figure what I’m willing to pay, bid to that amount, and then call it done, win or lose. That damn “Just 1 more bid” bit me a few times before I learned.
I’d probably be different if it was truly a “once in a lifetime” object, but there is nothing I’ve every bought that fell into that category. Probably the closest I’ve gotten to breaking my rule was an old canon 70-210 f4.0 lens (not “L” series, but very good glass). I lost a few before finally getting one at the price I wanted.
My worst auction experience was getting 3 cases of Jim Beam “Commemorative” bottles at 5 bucks a bottle at a local auction house. Knew that SOME JB bottles are very collectible, had no time to do any research, and bid pretty much flying blind. Turns out that the ones I bought are selling for about 5 bucks each online. :) Gave a few to friends for “Man Cave Decorations” and the rest went into the dumpster after a year of sitting around taking up space. (Imagine my neighbors must have thought I had a serious drinking problem)

Yeah, I’m pretty boring in my bidding. I put in a maximum bid of what I’m willing to pay and just walk away until it is over. I’ve gotten some great deals, and lost some stuff that was probably worth more than I wanted to pay for it-but that is the point: what it was worth to me.
I think Hillary has the appropriate federal position, going for complete national legalization would still waste too much political capital as of 2016.

I think that was a political answer. Not a bit unlike Obama on gay marriage. When there is a tipping point in the amount of states voting for it, then I think she will change.
By the way…I am getting hit hard with pro and against Ohio Issue 3 stuff in the mail this week. That’s Ohio’s attempt at marijuana legalization. Local political program on Sunday said the polls are showing pretty string support. We shall see.

BREAKING, CONFIRMED: Gawker ain’t havin’ none o’ dat sh*t from Chuck Johnson
gawker.com is opposing Chuck C. Johnson’s request for an extension on his homework response to Gawker’s motion to dismiss his libel suit against them.
In his request for an extended response deadline, Johnson’s lawyer stated that Gawker’s lawyers had agreed to a week’s delay, as GotNwes reported earlier.
Perhaps that was before Gawker got wind of Johnson’s futile, 11th-hour attempts to obtain evidence “using clearly improper means,” to quote the motion for denial. [Full text below.]
The judge has yet to rule on this latest wrinkle in this fascinating case of two media giants duking it out miles from either’s home base. If the judge rules in favor of Gawker, Johnson’s libel suit could be dismissed and he’d be liable for all costs, including Gawker’s attorney costs.

re: #348 Archangelus
Hillary and Bernie ruled the debate (i’m still hoping for a Hillary/Bernie 2016 ticket).
It’s still WAY to early to speculate about running mates (though I’m sure we will anyway), but if/when she gets the nom, Mrs. Clinton is going to need a ticket-mate who can:
1. Make a credible President in the public’s perception
2. Appeal to at least one up-for-grabs demographic
3. Campaign like a Motherf——-r for the ticket and the Party.
Oh, and 4) be as dirt- and scandal-free as humanly possible, given the probably predictably vile tenor of the Republican campaign
It is quite I think interesting and telling that the Dems have but a fraction of the people running but the range in views is that much more bigger. There’s nothing anything close like Sanders and Webb or really even Clinton and Sanders. All the Republican debates is for the most part people trying to out wingnut the other and tell the Republican base how much tehy’re like Ronald REagan.
Jim Webb is the best candidate the Republicans have.

I know, I was just saying that was always the joke. I think Moore even said it in Stupid White Men.
Really? I didn’t read it so I wouldn’t have gotten it there.

Yeah I read a lot of polemics in those days sad to say.
It was nice to just watch some adults debate and not the reality show shit show that we’ve subjected to with the the GOP debates. I didn’t have an incredibly strong feeling about HRC before and I still don’t but I have no doubt she’s the strongest candidate we have. I don’t “feel the Bern”, he just underwhelms me. O’Malley has a nice handsome face and had some decent points, though I agree he is running for VP and it shows. Chaffee I felt really bad for. I hope someone can find a good hobby for him. Webb - dickwad.

Megyn, it’s the DemoCRATIC party, not Democrat.
They’re still doing that? You know it used to not bother me and I thought people were just being whiny but FFS, if a professional and I use that term loosely to describe Megyn journalist described the GOP as the “Republic Party”, I am sure Preibus would be the first to whine about the liberal media bias against the GOP. Really be fucking professional.
re: #382 HappyWarrior
She’s huffing and puffing about the emails not being an issue with voters.
re: #373 Jenner7
Democrats just made Republicans look like amateurs.
Thank you, Bernie, for telling it like it is on the emails.
Jim Webb, your party is over there ——->
I hope Trump is steamed that this debate got more viewers than the republican CNN debate. He’s due for a new worst tweet ever.
re: #384 stpaulbear
I forgot about Trump, did he manage to say something stupid tonight?

I am sure she is. I could care less about the fucking emails. Tell me your plan on how you’er going to help people like me. The email thing is just a desperate ploy to attack her.

not during the debate but before hand he insisted that people were just going to fall asleep.
What I learned from the #DemocraticDebate is that my country is better than @govmikehuckabee.

I noticed that Huckabee said “North Korean” rather than going all out and saying “Korean”, if you’re going to be a bigoted dipshit, Mike, why not go all out? Though really Huckabee is the last to talk about dogs considering his son.

Someone posted a Trump tweet earlier about how the R debates viewer numbers were going to be so much better than the D debate. He was wrong.
re: #338 Aunty Entity Dragon
Hillary…Solid and brought her game. Winner.
Bernie…uneven but probably had some of the best lines tonight. His supporters will be generally happy.
O’Malley…not too bad. Looking for a position in Hillary’s cabinet
Lincoln…I have seen outcrops of sandstone that were more interesting.
Webb…what fucking party is he in?
Sandstone better since you can find interesting fossils in them, not elect said fossils to high office.

Boeher still does that constantly. Every time.
MSNBC has plastic surgery victim Wayne Newton on to discuss the debate. Because what the fuck????! #DemDebate
