“Rooting” is Alaskan for “schlonging”.
Remember how bad Sofia Coppola was in “The Godfather III”? This was so much worse.
I think this needs to appear in a “Hellboy” comic as one of the signs of the coming of the 9 Dragons, caged beyond the worlds.
Pretty sure she get that top from a used clothes bin dating back to a 1974 Donna Summer concert…
You think you’ve seen it all, you think you’re used to the insanity of the GOP…and then they pull something like this and you realize you’ve only scratched the surface.

I dunno.
The kind of people that would back Cruz in Iowa are the kind of people who’d be swayed by a Palin endorsement.
I mean, the “evangelical” vote is already bending and twisting to accomodate Trump because he looks “strong”—and this shouldn’t shock anyone. Their actual priorities having a glancing-at-best relationship to piety…even the performative, hyper-political piety of Cruz. Convincing themselves that God wants Trump isn’t really a leap, given how they deal in signs and wonders and proof-texts, not the Bible as parables and paragraphs.

Looks like Norway is going Trump:
Migrant crisis: Norway begins deportations to Russia
About 5,500 people are due to be transported from Norway to Russia. Many crossed the Arctic border by bicycle as part of the influx of migrants to Europe in 2015.
Norway announced in November it would immediately deport people who had arrived from a country deemed safe.
[…]
Norway previously planned to send the migrants back to Russia by bicycle due to rules that banned vehicles from transporting people across the border without the necessary documents. People were also prohibited from crossing on foot.
Thousands of migrants used bicycles to cross the border last year after discovering a loophole in the law.
Most of them had fled the conflict in Syria.

oh, hell. I’ll say this, Palin and Trump are made for each other in the era of reality TV politics.
You can take the boy out of the snow, but you can’t take the snowbilly out of the boy:
At one point, Track was “holding onto a gun, yelling ‘do you think I’m a p—-y?’ and ‘do you think I won’t do it?’”
The woman, whom the Daily News is not identifying, said he “cocked the gun” and was holding it near his face.
“[The woman] was concerned he would shoot himself and ran outside and around the house,” before hiding under a bed. That’s where police, responding to 911 calls from both Track and the woman, found the crying victim when they arrived.
She had “bruising and swelling around her left eye” and “complained of pain to that area as well as to her right knee.” Cops later found an unloaded AR-15 assault rifle on the kitchen counter.
Three cheers for that sacred 2nd amendment.
Trump & Palin have had over two hours of continuous coverage on @MSNBC. last 30min of Chuck’s shit show, and 100 minutes of non-stop since.

I don’t know how Trump and Palin would fit in Westeros. Cruz is a good fit - some kind of King’s Landing sleazeball, easy peasy. But the world of ASOIAF is so damned serious and brutal, there’s just not that kind of decadence, ignorance, and stupidity around for these types to feed off of, is there? Is there a society in Martin’s world where these two could exist?

Trump is talking about “fiancée permits” LOL
OT but funny politico.com
Here we have someone at Politico having fantasies about how Trump could beat Clinton in the general election. It’s pretty much all weapon-grade delusional. A sample:
“If he were the Republican nominee he would get the highest percentage of black votes since Ronald Reagan in 1980,” said Republican messaging guru Frank Luntz, referring to the year Reagan won 14 percent of that bloc of voters. “They listen to him. They find him fascinating, and in all the groups I have done, I have found Obama voters, they could’ve voted for Obama twice, but if they’re African-American they would consider Trump.”
At one point, Track was “holding onto a gun, yelling ‘do you think I’m a p—-y?’ and ‘do you think I won’t do it?’”
A perfect example of the insecurity that is at the heart of the gun fetish.

Trump’s pulling a McCain to try and keep from losing in Iowa, resuscitating the career of this damn idiot again!
re: #86 Decatur Deb
She wouldn’t like renaissance Milan, then. Sforzas suck.
I think it was that the show dwells on doing horrible things to women. Also, I realized that the audience was being manipulated to like certain characters specifically so that we would be upset that they get killed/raped/whatever and that it was both cynical and increasingly predictable. Oh, the young Princess Baratheon getting quality time with dad? People immediately started counting down to the moment she get wasted.
That is lazy writing, and contrary to protestations of “historical accuracy”…it is just as skewed and improbable as Tolkien’s Middle Earth. It is just skewed to reward evil. Once you figure that out, it gets easier and easier to see where it goes. Good guys are political dupes and get killed. Bad guys, like Ramsey Snow, are super snow ninjas who can do anything at all without fail.
I don’t regret leaving it.

Palin would be something like an up jumped knight that is granted land and title for favors done. Frum is being frum-py:
Although Palin did finish college, her life story resembled the lives of non-college white America in a way that the personal lives of the Bushes, of John McCain, of Mitt Romney, or of Paul Ryan never did or could. The themes and commitments that define Movement Conservatism—free-market ideology, organized religiosity—are increasingly upmarket themes … and increasingly remote from downmarket America. Sarah Palin did get rich in the end, but like Donald Trump, she didn’t get wealth or enjoy wealth in the way that the hated elite got and enjoyed wealth.

I don’t have enough Dramamine. Nor psychotropics.
Fuck, I’m gonna need a full-on Hunter S. Thompson briefcase full of ingestible chemicals just to get through the run-up to Super Tuesday. ‘Cause that one’s gonna break the bank.
After the first few weeks, there’s going to be rumblings from the captive billionaire donor “base,” and the gerbils are gonna get nervous. It’s going to be All Or Nothing on Super Tuesday, and the airwaves are gonna be clogged with Jeb’s Last Stand.
Here in South by dog Carolina, the ads are running hot and heavy. I don’t even watch much TV and I’m sick of:
Marco’s “everything is wrong in Amuurka—I have no solutions—vote for me”
Creepy Cruz’s “TrusTED”
and Right to Rise— Jeb!’s SuperPAC—spot against Rubio, with a Marco puppet flip-flopping.
Bad ads, bad candidates, and they’re ruining my viewing experience. The truly odd thing is, they buy a lot of Food Network (perhaps they’re just buying cable saturation and it comes up a lot in rotation) which doesn’t really seem to be their target. Of course, I see a lot of Christian Mingle ads there as well, and again, doesn’t seem to be the target.

Probably never, but William Miller(Goldwater’s VP candidate) did AMEX “Do you know who I am?” commercials in the 70’s.
Here we EFF-ing go again. An African-American teenage girl dies in police custody, and officials are refusing to disclose not only the cause of death, but also why she was being detained in the first place.
Ky. Teen Dies in Police Custody; Family Left With Few Answers
The family of 16-year-old Gynnya McMillen is left with many questions and few answers after the teen was found unresponsive at a Kentucky juvenile-detention center.
According to CBS News, McMillen was found the morning of Jan. 11 at the Lincoln Valley Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Elizabethtown, Ky. But state and local officials have been tight-lipped as to what might have caused the teen’s death.
Hardin County, Ky., Coroner William Lee Jr. told CBS News Monday that “in an initial autopsy on Jan. 12, he saw no outward signs, such as ‘visual bruising,’ that could conclusively signal a cause of death.” Lee noted that full autopsy results won’t be available for weeks and added that it’s unlikely the teen suffered from a heart condition.
It’s unclear why Gynnya was being detained in a juvenile facility, but Karen Whaley, a residential counselor for Home of the Innocents, a Louisville, Ky.-based support-services agency, told the news site that the Gynnya she remembered was a “quiet, beautiful person.”

National Review has to (1) pretend the Tea Party wasn’t the GOP base wearing a paste-on moustache, (2) that its current level of crazy wasn’t readily obvious from the kinds of claims and assertions it made at the get go.
Because to do otherwise would be to concede that Very Serious Intellectual Conservatism has been keeping Crazy Reactionaries sated in manner similar to how a Frenchman maintains his mistress.
It would have been really interesting to watch Romney interact with the 2016 environment. How much of the establishment’s failure to gain any traction is due to Trump and rabblerabble and whatever, and how much is just because the establishment candidates are abjectly terrible?
I’m not going to say Romney was a good politician or candidate in 2012, but he was a hell of a lot more competent than ¿Jeb?.

Ernest Moniz, Secretary of Energy
Moniz attended Boston College, where he received his Bachelor of Science summa cum laude in physics, and he later received his PhD in theoretical physics from Stanford University in 1972.
Moniz joined the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1973, serving as Head of the Department of Physics from 1991 to 1995 and as Director of the Bates Linear Accelerator Center.
He also co-chairs the MIT research council. He served in the Clinton administration as Associate Director for Science in the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President from 1995 to 1997.
Moniz also worked in the United States Department of Energy, serving as Under Secretary of Energy from 1997 to 2001. Moniz is also one of the founding members of The Cyprus Institute, wherein he and other scholars undertook the coordination, research and planning of the project.
In 2013, he received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid as a recognition of his research on energy policies and technologies.

You guys are sounding angry is we’re hearing from the establishment. They stomp on our neck and tell us to chill. Just relax. Well, look, we are mad and we’ve been had. They need to get use to it. This election is more than just your basic ABCs: Anybody but Clinton. It’s more than that this go around. When we’re talking about a nation without borders, and bankruptcies and our federal government, debt our children and grandchildren will never be able to pay off.
When we’re talking about the power that comes from strength, power through strength, well then we’re talking about our very existence. No, we’re not going to chill. It’s time to drill, baby, drill down and hold these folks accountable and we need to stop the self-sabotage and elect a candidate that represents that and America first, finally. Pro-Constitution. Common-sense solutions he brings to the table. Yes, the status quo has got to go. With their failed agenda, it can’t be salvaged, it must be savaged and Donald Trump is the one to do that. Are you ready for new and are you ready for the leader who will let you make America great again? It’s going to take a whole team.

That is what this is all going to turn on: Was it classified at the time and was it marked as such when she received it. Without evidence that she knew what she was receiving was classified “confidential” or above, there’s no expectation that she knew what she was receiving was deemed classified information. As much as her critics try to compare her to Petreus, there’s a distinct difference between removing classified materials from a secure location and receiving unmarked information that others considered classified.

re: #112 EPR-radar
I don’t know which black persons they’re talking to, but it’s none I know. In general, when we’re together somewhere and any GOP/TPer’s name is mentioned, everyone looks like they need a quick dose of Pepto Bismol. These folk are capable of convincing themselves of anything. Let Trump win the GOP/TP nomination, and they’ll discover that most of us will not vote for him. Why should we when we’ve watched him disparage our fellow citizens? He can parade his two little black females on the stage every time he speaks, but they don’t represent what I think most of us think about GOP/TP politicians. They conveniently forget our history in this nation, and the fact that most in their party still want to make us 2nd Class Citizens. They also forget that we haven’t missed the way they’ve treated this president. Some things can be forgiven, others can’t, and their ugly treatment of this president is one of them. The way we see it is that if you oppress and denigrate others, you’ll do the same thing to us. I grew up under Jim Crow and vowed that I would never vote for any politician who stood against other Americans having their rights. I was really disgusted at witnessing their reaction to the Obergefell decision, and I’m appalled at their current attempts to deprive LGBTQ Americans of their rights with their new religious-inspired, and highly discriminatory, laws. Something I’ve never understood about GOP/TPers is that they think they can hit us, knock us down, kick and stomp us, sh*t on us, and we’ll reward them with out votes. Hell, no, and what makes me very proud is that my kid, a millennial, feels the same way.
You know you were hoping someone did it…

So, plugging in text of transcript here:
readability-score.com
Palin barely makes it out of grade-school:
Readability Formula Grade
Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level 6.5
Gunning-Fog Score 8.9
Coleman-Liau Index 8.2
SMOG Index 6.9
Automated Readability Index 5.4
Average Grade Level 7.2
“He is from the private sector, not a politician, can I get a “Hallelujah!” Where, in the private sector, you actually have to balance budgets in order to prioritize, to keep the main thing, the main thing, and he knows the main thing: a president is to keep us safe economically and militarily.
So 4x bankrupt, deferment guy is the right guy? lol
From that site:
Grade Levels
A grade level (based on the USA education system) is equivalent to the number of years of education a person has had. A score of around 10-12 is roughly the reading level on completion of high school. Text to be read by the general public should aim for a grade level of around 8.
Palin didn’t even make it up to the recommended level, which is for a barely educated population.

Just dropped in to see what went on at the rally, mob gathering, salad bar, whatever they were calling this. Reading through it looks like it went well for the crowd who missed Sarah Palin babbling incoherently on a stage somewhere for money. Did she break Teds heart? “Well, I am here because like you I know that it is now or never. I’m in it to win it because we believe in America, and we love our freedom. And if you love your freedom, thank a vet. Thank a vet, and know that the United States military deserves a commander-in-chief that our country passionately, and will never apologize for this country. A new commander-in-chief who will never leave our men behind. A new commander-in-chief, one who will never lie to the families of the fallen. I’m in it, because just last week, we’re watching our sailors suffer and be humiliated on a world stage at the hands of Iranian captors in violation of international law, because a weak-kneed, capitulator-in-chief has decided America will lead from behind. And he, who would negotiate deals, kind of with the skills of a community organizer maybe organizing a neighborhood tea, well, he deciding that, “No, America would apologize as part of the deal,” as the enemy sends a message to the rest of the world that they capture and we kowtow, and we apologize, and then, we bend over and say, “Thank you, enemy.” We are ready for a change. We are ready and our troops deserve the best. A new commander-in-chief whose track record of success has proven he is the master at the art of the deal. He is one who would know to negotiate.

I’m of the opinion that they’ve done more damage to their “cause” by just being treated like a leper colony than if the FBI has rushed the building shortly after the takeover. Every day that goes by without their exit, every day they piss off another local, every day another story comes out showing that nobody supports them, is another loss of legitimacy.

Note the article is from 2010…
But that still is so sad. I remember going to see the Sex Pistols in their first US concert in Homestead PA, December 1977. It was truly one of the most insane events I ever witnessed. The only concert that topped it was when I went to see Edith Massey and the Eggs in the early 80s. Still remember the TV camera crews outside the theater covering it—-and this was before CNN…RIP Malcolm…

Maybe they’ll form their OWN safety committee Free of the Bundy’s: Unless you can prove you are a resident of the immediate area you must vacate within the next 24 hours or you will be arrested. If you refuse to come quietly the sheriff will declare martial law and deputize all property owners with orders to shoot on sight those who have refused to surrender.
At least it won’t be the Feds or the State.

I saw a Hole concert when, shortly after Kurt’s suicide, Courtney Love was at her stoned insane flat out crazy worst. I imagine that would have been about par for the Pistols too.
