Something stupid and offensive. Coulter’s routine never varies.
Well, that figures. I wrote a “book’ comment in the last thread and of course didn’t see a new one come up…concentrating too much. I should learn my lesson, but I don’t. I should keep to 140 characters like tweets! Or just start writing pages. But I felt the mood to talk about what has been the big theme around here lately…the media and why it is they way it is in my opinion.
If anyone cares here is the link.

I know many people don’t like KO’s style, but I think he his head is screwed on the right way.
They don’t like him because he never holds back and he is smarter than the average bear. He pisses people off because he goes way over their heads and they see that as arrogant and condescending.
I think he’s great. Sure sometimes he can be an ass. It comes with the territory.
Maybe I just woke up wrong this morning, but today I’ve got this low-level anxiety that Trump and his Army of Assholes could win the public debate just by yelling louder.
Hopefully this will fade. I hate feeling like this.

He has a serious uphill battle by blowing off minorities. The race seems close, but we’re at stage in the race where getting that next point in the polls is exponentially tougher than the previous point.

re: #33 The Vicious Babushka
I thought he died of a MRSA infection.
From wikipedia:
The official cause of death was first reported as Streptococcus pneumoniae, a bacterial infection that causes bacterial pneumonia. It was later classified as organ failure resulting from streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (caused by Streptococcus pyogenes). S. pyogenes is the bacterial species that causes strep throat, scarlet fever, and rheumatic fever. It can also cause other infections.

People have been bitching about her attire for as long as I can recall her being on the national stage. Same with any woman - they’ll complain/ask about what she’s wearing, but a guy could pretty much wear the same suit all week and no one would bat an eye (particularly if they wear a different tie).
Different standards of course.

that alleged Huma email with the bogus email address was discussed at length downstairs when wikileaks first posted it.
I’m trying to game this out from a wingnut perspective…
Let’s say it turns out in the next week or two that Clinton isn’t healthy enough for the job. So she decides to step aside, what happens?
One of two things, I’m guessing…
Behind Door Number 1: Clinton stays on the ballots, but Democratic electors agree to vote for Kaine as president in the electoral college, and somebody else for VP. So it effectively becomes Kaine vs Trump. Kaine maybe isn’t well know, but we can pretty much guarantee that he’d do better in a head to head match up with Trump (because he’s (a) not Clinton and (b) not Trump).
Behind Door Number 2: The DNC chooses a new nominee, to replace Clinton on the ballot. This one is a bit more difficult, but you don’t think that someone like Joe Biden or Jerry Brown (or one of plenty of other elected Democrats) wouldn’t take the call to step in? In this case, whoever is selected would probably do better in a head to head match up with Trump (because they’re (a) not Clinton and (b) not Trump).
In either case, how, exactly does this help Trump?
Concern troll in my ear right now: “She lied to us! She made us look like fools! She should have been open and honest to the press! Now she’s just made herself look worse!”
Fuck me, this is how we lose elections. Because the hard work done by the stalwarts to bring people into the fold is undone by the fence-sitters running down the aisles towards the exits as they scream “THE END IS NEAR!”

Not deplorable at all. Nope!
This morning Trump claimed Janet Yellen should be ashamed of herself for keeping interest rates low for Barack Obama, demonstrating his usual policy incoherence. He has claimed that unemployment is actually still extremely high, maybe as high as 42%. With unemployment dwarfing Depression era levels, of course you would keep interest rates extremely low, especially when there is virtually no inflation. So which is it Trump; has the US achieved full employment, meaning all your bloviating about jobs is BS, or is there still a need to help the economy with low interest rates? It can’t be both.

Throwing up on Flash is hardly a reason to not use an OS. One might even view that as a sign of taste and decency in OS design.
One can hate flash and still not make users’ life miserable when they need it, but that’s not even the point: that’s a YouTube video. You don’t have to have flash to view it. My mobile phone doesn’t support flash and I can view the video.

I pulled some chicken and some boneless sirloin pork out of the freezer last week and marinated both for fajitas (slightly different recipes for each marinade) this weekend.
Thus the reason for me window shopping on the internet for tortilla presses.

Seeing Sergey reminded me that I wanted to tell you guys about a film I started watching last week called Kurmanjan Datka (that’s the original title, it’s also called Queen of the Mountains, which is how it’s listed in IMDb).
Anyway, I heard about it via the AramcoWorld newsletter, so I went off in search of it because it’s the kind of movie that appeals to me: an epic historical film about a legendary Kyrgyz woman (named Kurmanjan Datka). It’s a long film (over 2 hours), but the cinematography—OMG, the eye candy! It’s kinda like Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan, if any of you are familiar with that one. I couldn’t find it on sale anywhere, but it turns out the entire thing is on YouTube, complete with English subtitles. Yay!

Mike Pence, embracing the suck.
Remember, he was the guy they brought on to make Trump seem serious.
Blitzer asks Mike Pence if Trump should apologize for being a birther, Pence says “we’re just not talking about that issue”.

This is the new teflon defense, apparently.
re: #235 Nyet
How would it work?
Here is a non-racist, tolerant person who cares about others who suddenly decided to vote for Trump?
Nope. Doesn’t work.
You could build a working model based on a very cynical, very greedy libertarianism. Carriers would be intelligent enough to know racism is bullshit, have little or no communal human impulse, and be happy to exploit Trump as long as they get their tax break and competitive advantage. Don’t know how many would fit in that basket, but of course the reality is that Trumpists are all a continuum with a wild and shifting set of drivers. They might even like their dogs.

A GOOD journalist would respond with, “Does he still believe Pres. Obama was not born in Hawaii?”
And when Pence says, “We’re not talking about that issue,” they’d respond with, “So, yes.”

Way past deplorable. People here think they’re excusing George C Wallace because he “didn’t really believe in that ignorant racism, he was just trying to get elected.” If true, that would make him far worse in my book.

Just promise to not put them in the microwave to heat up. Need to be a little toasty without being too crisp. My mother in law told me years ago if you marry a Mexican you need a good cast iron comal…which she gave me and I still use 30 years later.
She laughingly said it was also good for whacking him with when needed. I haven’t had to do that.

re: #192 CuriousLurker
Seeing Sergey reminded me that I wanted to tell you guys about a film I started watching last week called Kurmanjan Datka (that’s the original title, it’s also called Queen of the Mountains, which is how it’s listed in IMDb).
Anyway, I heard bout it via the AramcoWorld newsletter, so I went off in search of it because it’s the kind of movie that appeals to me: an epic historical film about a legendary Kyrgyz woman (named Kurmanjan Datka). It’s a long film (over 2 hours), but the cinematography—OMG, eye candy. It’s kinda like Mongol: The Rise of Genghis Khan if any of you are familiar with that one. I couldn’t find it on sale anywhere, but it turns out the entire things is on YouTube, complete with English subtitles. Yay!
I’ve only watch the first 1/3 of of it, but it was really good and I hope to watch the rest sometime this week. Here it is:
[Embedded content]
Thanks for looking into that! I get that newsletter (Aramco World is the BEST magazine), and wanted to see it. How much bandwidth would it take to stream that movie? I’m going to give up my tv, I think. Too much money for not that much use.
