New York Supreme Court Judge David Benjamin Cohen ruled that Tantaros’s complaint must indeed be moved to arbitration. As a side note, Gretchen Carlson, whose July sexual harassment suit triggered a flood of stories about Ailes’s conduct, received a large settlement and an apology and has taken to lobbying against arbitration clauses.
In the hearing, Burstein expressed his wish to amend the Tantaros suit by adding racketeering and electronic surveillance charges — a reference to the intelligence unit once operated by Ailes to spy on Fox News talent and critics. The judge told Burstein that he could not so amend the complaint.
As far as the network’s settlements go, there may be some material for inspection. Just last month, news broke that Fox News months ago had reached a pricey, hush-hush settlement with former on-air personality Juliet Huddy over sexual harassment claims against O’Reilly. At that time, veteran New York Magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman noted that the network had inked settlements with at least four women since the departure of Ailes.

I’m seeing that it may be in relation to violation of wiretapping laws plus SEC violations relating to Andrea Tantaros’ ongoing lawsuit against the network. She’s alleging that the network didn’t reveal lawsuit settlements to the SEC, and that the network engaged in illegal wiretapping.
The judge in the case didn’t allow an amended complaint with the allegations, but SEC investigators may nonetheless take another look based on these claims.

Oh, I realize FDR’s New Deal may have had little effect in ending the Depression, but it did quell some of the anti-government feelings simmering in the country. (Didn’t know throwing up was a symptom of appendicitis or we’d’ve gone in Monday night) Surgery Tuesday afternoon; then had to do a mad dash to a different hospital 30 miles across town to see my mom on Wednesday morning, before she went under for a quad bypass. Kid had the second surgery a week later to fix an adhesion. It was a not good experience.
EDIT: Kid came out of it okay, mind you! Laparoscopic so only a few small holes, and he healed well once they fixed the adhesion. MY nerves took a beating, though.

Most people think its because the Utes who are actually religious take it pretty seriously, and some point out that the Mormons have a history with religious bans and are more sympathetic to the Muslims than you’d think.

I remember former GOP Senator Bob Bennett before he died having actually apologized to Muslims the way his party treated Muslims. He was staunchly conservative but seems to me aware of the ugliness of religious prejudice.
