These meetings are scheduled well in advance, and the countries involved all have to make their security plans well in advance as well. That includes booking rooms for their principals and their entourages.

Gotta repeat this every few weeks or so:
It is urgent for Americans to think and speak clearly about President Trump’s inability to do either. This seems to be not a mere disinclination but a disability. It is not merely the result of intellectual sloth but of an untrained mind bereft of information and married to stratospheric self-confidence.
(snip)What is most alarming (and mortifying to the University of Pennsylvania, from which he graduated) is not that Trump has entered his eighth decade unscathed by even elementary knowledge about the nation’s history. As this column has said before, the problem isn’t that he does not know this or that, or that he does not know that he does not know this or that. Rather, the dangerous thing is that he does not know what it is to know something.

Isn’t Trump admitting the Russians hacked into the election even though he is saying it could be someone else? When he asks why Obama didn’t do anything, he is accepting Obama knew the Russians hacked the election and is chiding Obama for not stopping them. The rest is transparent cover.

A better argument for supply side theory is that if enough businesses make stuff, then consumers will have more money with which to buy things. But that supposes the employer/manufacturer pays its employees (who are also consumers) a reasonable wage (which is something that the modern MBA culture finds apostate).

Perry and Trump and whoever else on his team are measuring things in terms of cost only: Pile up enough coal and people will want it over solar because it’ll be cheaper. They’re only thinking in terms of immediate monetary cost.
Not only does this fail to take into account the non-monetary reasons people choose things, but it also misses that a lot of places have converted to things other than coal. They’d have to build a coal plant to use the coal.

No, they were not involved in the rape in any way. They were part of a group that committed some smaller crimes (though, they all claim no direct participation), so the police had a legitimate reason to question them. It was soon apparent they were the wrong guys. However, due to the pressure to close the case, and the fact that there were no other suspects, police and prosecutors went ahead with the trial anyway.

Beat me to it. I was about to post that when Mrs. FBW texted from Whole Foods to find out what kind of salami I want. That took precedence.

Maybe the women should all show up in handmaid attire. After all that’s the role the GOP wishes to foist on women.

I could understand a dimwit like Pence making this demand, but isn’t Ryan an Ayn Rand disciple? Why should he care about the clothing that we women wear?

I’ll quote Jaws:
Hooper: Ah. Just like I thought, he came up with the Gulf Stream, from southern waters.
*pulls a Louisiana license plate from the shark.*
Brody: He didn’t eat a car, did he?
Hooper: No. Tiger shark’s like a swimming garbage can… it’ll eat anything. Someone probably threw that in a river.

What is this bullshit Trump said about 17 agencies, and there were really three or four “after very heavy research”?
I swear, if every woman this stupid no sleeves rule applies to doesn’t show up sleeveless daily without relenting I am going to be very disappointed. Fuck these puritan assholes.

I wanted to hear that discussed, too. Who googled for him?

At the age of 42.
Only chronologically. Mentally, he’s still the teenager who just read ‘Atlas Shrugged’ and imagines himself to be one of the Galt’s Gulch crowd, letting society fall because they didn’t appreciate him and reward him appropriately.

One of the money quotes from that piece:
He (Zucker) added: “This is what happens when you try to delegitimize an institution that is doing its job. And I think it is shameful on the part of the administration and other politicians to cause a frenzy against something that is guaranteed in the Constitution of the United States. It does a disservice to this country and its position in the world…It’s unconscionable and dangerous—and they should know better.”

Shouldn’t surprise us that an ancient guy like Soros is such a bogeyman to the right. They attribute the same status to Saul Alinsky, who has been dead for 45 years.
Incidentally, freepers who comment on Alinsky very frequently seem to assume that he is alive and active. I’ve also seen a few attacks on “Solinsky” there, which initially led me to ask “who the hell is Solinsky?” before I realized that this is a common rendering of “Saul Alinsky.”
While we are on the subject of misconceptions, a friend of mine who headed the local ACLU said he frequently heard from RWNJs who assumed that the ACLU is a government agency and that he was collecting a government salary.

The Alinsky stuff I love because as a former English minor, I honest to God thought it was Saul Bellow. I don’t think it’s meant to be Antisemitic but it sure as hell comes off that way especially given the right’s history.
