Hilarious Mass Right Wing Freakout on Reports That Trump Caved on His Ridiculous Wall

How to make the right lose their alleged minds
Politics • Views: 33,056

After reports last night that Trump had made a deal with Democrats that excluded Trump’s ridiculous WALL (that’s how he refers to it on Twitter, in all-caps), the right wing media staged a massive, hilarious freak out. How dare he renege on a promise that was never going to happen in the real world?

White nationalist congressman Steve King saw apocalypse before his eyes.

But of course, Trump’s people immediately got out there, at 10pm Eastern time, to “clarify” these reports and deny Trump was abandoning the stupid wall idea. Because no idea is too stupid for this gang of bigoted dunces.

And Trump himself had a slew of early morning rants, including yet another promise that his WALL is really going to happen, yes indeedy, don’t you worry. He’s already fixing the fences!

Laurence Tribe’s comment was on target:

But a glance at the Breitbart “News” front page shows how worked up the right wing base is, even with the disavowals. Are they beginning to realize they can’t trust a single word the Orange One says? (Doubtful.)

But also at Breitbart today, we find an article raging at the news that Trump will reportedly sign a resolution denouncing white supremacist groups. Because that would be a bad thing for the Breitbart gang, obviously. They’re calling it: A European-Style Assault on Free Speech.

The preamble, in addition to expressing “support for the Charlottesville community,” demands of the President that he rejects “White nationalists, White supremacists, the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazis, and other hate groups” and urges him and his cabinet to “use all available resources to address the threats posed by those groups”.

From the outset this is disingenuous and troublesome.

The President has already disavowed these groups, including Neo Nazis and the KKK. Why are elected members, alongside the White House, wasting time virtue signaling over it?

Of course, these are the same people who demand that all Muslims must constantly disavow and denounce Islamic extremists, no matter how many times they do. But hypocrisy is the dominant paradigm of right wing media.

Because the 14th Amendment and the principles on which it is based actually matter?

Drudge headline right now is “Dream Team”, with a picture of Pelosi next to Trump.

It was just days ago that the wingnuts were assuring themselves and each other that the debt ceiling “deal” was a masterstroke by Trump, because it not only slapped the GOP leadership in the face, but also showed that the DNC was dropping its opposition to his presidency.

Excuses Trump could give that are more plausible:
1) I got locked out of my iPhone X - it stopped recognizing botox faces
2) I ran out of data on my plan after trying to figure out what Ted Cruz was up to
3) Jared lost your number
4) Tillerson’s budget cuts meant there was no one around to set up the phone call

Tell him how much Corporations will save by not having to pay for health insurance as part of compensation.

See, this is the problem with Bernie Fucking Sanders. If he weren’t stuck in Class Struggle mode, he’s be out talking to the big corporations about how much Single Payer would help them. Get Big Business behind it as well as Progressives. In the end, the overall cost to society as a whole will be the same as or less than we’re paying now, but at least it will all make sense.

It be nice if they would just push to fix Obamacare and add back the public option, rather than go full bore for an idea half the country is afraid of and will crash 20% of the economy and put millions of insurance company employees out of work.

Single payer “overnight” was possible in the 60s or 70s, now it requires some nuance and incrementalism that Bernie Sanders and his legion of bros are incapable of grasping.

Speaking of Pink Floyd……….

I went and saw the David Gilmour’s “Live at Pompeii 2016” Movie last nite with friends.
Well worth the price of the ticket. The show is excellent and very well produced IMHO. No crazy wild stuff. Just mature Pink Floyd magic. Gilmore, like himself is supported onstage buy veteran, seasoned musicians. Lot’s of cool vintage gear. Gilmour spends quite a bit of time playing several older Fender steels.

Lucita Jules, Backup singer deserves awards for her work on “Shine on You Crazy Diamond”. Ironically it’s performed 10 yrs to the day Rick Wright passed away.

At 62 and growing up and older with this band, I found it very nostalgic and somewhat comforting.

Go see this…. I give it a 5 on the 5.

That’s what we used to call “The Protestant Slump”.

My sister converted to Catholocism when she got married(VA Beach Sister, not Florida Sister. She converted to Judaism), and the wedding was in a beautiful little church near my folk’s hometown. I had never been in a Catholic church till that morning. I wondered what the hell those doohickies were on the floor that ate up my leg-stretching room.

The Groom’s side were all Catholic. The Bride’s side were all Protestant. When the Priest said, ‘let us pray’, the Groom’s side hit the knee bars. On the Bride’s side, all our chins dropped to our chests.

Back to “Chuck and Nancy” for a minute.

Seen a lot of “Nancy needs to go away, retire, shut up” etc. today, based on this Reuters headline:

Pelosi says she trusts Trump’s sincerity on protecting Dreamers

What she ACTUALLY said was:

“When we’re talking about this legislation to protect the Dreamers, yes I do trust that the president is sincere in understanding that the public supports that overwhelmingly, the public supports not sending these young people back.”

I read that as Nancy saying the yam knows that public sentiment is overwhelmingly against his deportation noise, and she knows he’s easily swayed by popularity polls. This isn’t Nancy’s first rodeo and I think she chose those words very carefully and specifically.

Nuance—it’s what’s for breakfast.

This is actually a problem for the translators: we see what a word salad mess Trump’s babblings are, but when it’s translated into other languages the translators pretty much have to clean it up into grammatical text, and end up making it way more coherent than it actually is. So the problem is that translators are worried that they’re making Trump sound a lot more proper and thoughtful than his real, moronic self. If you tried to translate it faithfully, everybody would think you’re a shitty translator who can’t even speak the target language.

Tom’s also been campaigning for local candidates too. He’s the man the Sanders supporters think Bernie is.

It’s been my observation, based on the four reviews I’ve read, that anyone who says “She blames everyone but herself” has simply not read the book. All four say quite clearly that she takes full responsibility for the choices she made in the campaign. And the one passage I’ve seen quoted about Sanders? Christ, it’s mild! Completely accurate, too - he’s not a Democrat. He didn’t become one just by running for the nomination, and he still isn’t one.

I have here in my hand … the book! So far I’m not that far into it, but I have three conclusions to draw already:
1. Hillary thinks Trump is an unparalleled disaster. She does not imply this, she says it straight out. Several times.
2. She is surprisingly funny, especially when facing down right-wingers she despises, about whom she always used to be fairly gentle. (Yes, the old “right-wing conspiracy” statement was relatively gentle, as well as accurate.)
3. She no longer gives a shit what you think. And she’ll damn well have a drink if she wants to.
Also, of course, she bought pizza for those in line. Dammit, I basically like her, whether I want to or not.

Just posted a piece that contains a bit of rumination on my part.

“…even if the plan is horrifying.”

Maybe - JUST MAYBE - the flip-flop and outcry on DACA are all part of a plan to try to immunize Trump to the growing coverage of his racist, white-supremacist actions. Could he be doing this, flexing on DACA, only to be stopped by Congress, to defuse everything - and the condemnations by all his formers lovers & allies are nothing more than smokescreen?

If so … then it could play out this way: Trump is denounced by the Star Wards Cantina Bar of right-wing racist villains, thus endearing him to “moderate” Brown People. The midterm elections thus don’t get the tidal wave of furious Latino/black/gay/feminist voters, and the GOP gets to hang onto the House and Senate, allowing him to fill Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat.

Is he capable of such Machiavellian plotting?

Or is he just the dog chasing the car?

A missile test is not an act of war. We do it literally everyday, so do the Russians and many others. The media response to North Korean tests is selective hysteria, exaggeration by emphasis. A few weeks ago they had a minor meltdown over a routine South Korean report that the NK navy had been spotted loading missiles onto its patrol boats, something they have done every time the boats leave on patrol for over 50 years.
Some day pretty soon they will probably have a breathlessly alarmist report that LIVE AMMUNITION is being issued to US and ROK troops on the DMZ.

Shiplord Kirel, live from behind wingnut lines  Sep 14, 2017 • 3:31:40pm

I posted this on FB 4 years ago today:

For anyone with any knowledge of history, it is amazing to see the right-wing’s slobbering rush to embrace a KGB trained dictator, Vlad Putin, as its new hero. A certain Russian girl band, along with a host of dissidents and rivals, are not available to comment on this amazing turn of events.
One thing is very clear, though: Post-communist Russia has reaped a harvest of useful idiots and fellow travelers in the west that its Soviet predecessor could only have dreamed about. Kremlin-backed rt.com (Russia Today) is not only quoted as an authoritative source on right-wing and some lefty outlets, it is quoted as the ONLY authoritative source by many of them. In the old days anyone who quoted an official Russian outlet as authoritative would have been laughed out of any forum in the US and Canada, including Communist Party meetings.
Libertarians in particular are susceptible to current Russian propaganda. If this seems inflammatory or extreme, just ask them. They will cheerfully, even proudly, admit their preference for Putin and his regime over Obama and his. The magnitude of this is amazing and unprecedented, far exceeding any level of actual subversion seen during the Cold War. There are probably more libertarian conspiracy dupes in Lubbock County alone than there were communists in the whole country in the old days, literally.

These kind of surveys are more about triggering people on identifying words, or words with which they want to identify.

It’s frustrating, but all too common about “polls”. Most of them aren’t worth much without a whole lot more data by which to pick apart the data.

And still, I cringe at the small samples. Social scientists are far too willing to accept the “plus or minus” mumbo jumbo.

I think he uses moscow.net and they need to check with Putin before putting his calls through.

It will be interesting to see if he is losing any of his base over this DACA thing.

I suspect we’ll see some movement from strong to medium support, which may not be reflected in the top-line approval numbers. But every little bit helps.

Heh. I got 12 out of 16 correct. There are language clues in some of them. “Immigrants busted” would be modern since “busted” wasn’t common usage until the 1960s. Similarly, “immigration men” would not be current, even in a reactionary pub like Breitbart.

Best way to get there will be to open up Medicare to everyone. Probably in stages. Lower the age by 10 years every 4 years till everyone is covered. Couch it as repeal & replace.

In the meantime, I’ll get the VA to be my single payer.

I don’t think people are giving up. I do think people are asking valid questions about how would the implementation be done and how things like the Hyde Amendment, etc. would be handled, none of which I have seen addressed by the snarky comments popular on Twitter.

I mean, I get that the Hyde Amendment doesn’t matter to guys and so it’s easy to overlook but it’s kind of important for some of us.

I’m inclined to skip this and similar surveys, due to a non-neglegible likelihood that the collected results would be used as training data for 1 or more AI’s dedicated to subverting our democracy.

Getting back to those polls…

Here, I propose the following poll - consists of one question, two choices, no words, can be presented on a flat-screen such as an iPhone:

Whichever choice gets fewer picks then becomes Trump’s “approval” rating.

The conflation of universal healthcare with “single payer” makes my ass twitch. They aren’t the same thing. The goal is the former, the latter is one way of doing it.

I don’t care if you give no fucks about causing a recession by shutting down 20% of the US economy and putting millions of people out of work, but that’s *exactly* what will happen. Every reasonable liberal pundit I know who’d like single payer acknowledges this fact and realizes it can’t be done quickly or all at once.

Frankly, most office and middle-management type corporate jobs that exist now are unnecessary, made up, pencil pushing, busy work bullshit to keep the economy rolling. I know this, but I don’t suggest getting rid of all these bogus jobs, especially overnight by the wave of a politicians pen.

Look, I know pushing millions of pencil pushers out of work “all at once” would be “bad”. These are not unskilled workers by and large as insurance companies want to hire the best to squeeze as much cash out of their customers as possible. A phase out would no doubt be part of any move towards universal health care.

Based on my law enforcement experience, the average fat yokel over-estimates his fighting ability by a factor of 10 and overstates it by a factor of 100.
