I let my (teenage) kids talk me into watching the series with them…I can get into the 80’s Midwest nostalgia (that being where I grew up) but find the series a bit too adolescent for my taste.
Still fun to watch with the family, more for the group experience than for the series itself.
Well, here is a pile of articles to read, that will likely infuriate and depress you

“We flew 8331 miles to be here tonight for one simple reason, to tell you in person that this Thanksgiving is a special Thanksgiving,” said Trump. “We’re doing so well. Our country is the strongest economically it has ever been. We’ve never done so well. We have the greatest economy anywhere in the world. So it is nice to know that you are fighting for something that is doing well as opposed to something that was not doing well just a number of years ago.”

True. It’s a classic example of psychological projection.

My mom once made made some mac-n-cheese, which had my brother sniffing at the air & practically drooling, from tri-color rotini.
His response once he saw it was very close to that clip

It’s all projection and denial, every goddamned facet of it. The entire alpha / beta fixation is the desperate reactionary coping mechanism of an aging white male population that can’t deal with the fact of their own deteriorating, ailing, increasingly frail bodies. Christianity is on the decline, ethnic demographics are slowly shifting and everything on the right is just rage over inevitable change.

And the “over my dead body” style denial just increases the rate of decline. There may be temporary spots where things seem to hold, or something is clawed back, but the effort and bridges burned doing that often lead soon to much larger losses than a more moderate approach might have resulted in.

re: #28 goddamnedfrank
Yup. I’ve been thinking a lot more of this on a deeper level lately. I recently said ‘conservatism is all paranoia and projection’ as a relevant comment but then asked myself how much of it actually is those things and what are the other components?
There was a time when I though Dennis Prager was a more decent man, reasoned and scholarly. After listening to his show more I realized he was every but as deranged as the hot under the caller yakkers. It’s easier to make out with him than the other because you get to contract his faux intellectualism and bookish charms against his obvious hate against anything left, as opposed to the hotheads that are always ranty and pissed off. I do remember thinking ‘assume everything is projection coming from these clowns’ and it was like Rowdy Roddy Piper putting on the glasses in They Live.
A common theme with Prager is ‘everything the left touches dies.’ The problem is that’s not close to true. Everything conservatism touches dies. Especially in the age of Trump.

I commented about this on the last thread. In The Daily Beast article about this, it ends with basically whining that this is the first time he didn’t have a proper Thanksgiving because he had to visit the troops.

Just typical of Trump: visiting frontline troops at Thanksgiving is a nice gesture (looking it up, Obama never did, and GW Bush only did once); but of course, even when he does do something “Presidential”, King Orangeanus just has to make it All About Him - in his usual rambling, slurring style: this clown really can’t do Presidenting right….

Found on FB this morning (not linking because the article itself is useless). The reason landowners charge so much is the common experience of “sport hunters” trampling crops, wrecking pathways, and shooting up livestock, vehicles, buildings, and each other while the ever-wily hogs get away unharmed. I do not allow slob hunters on my property. I would just as soon move to town and turn the place into a hog refuge as do that. The hogs are winning because they are just smarter: I have never caught a hog listening to Rush Limbaugh or watching Fox News, for example, so case closed, conservadupes.
