If Congress moves fast enough on impeachment, Pence will be able to serve exactly one Scaramucci as POTUS.
“The man who stole the Speaker’s podium reportedly put it up for sale on eBay. It was eventually removed but not before reaching $100,000.”
Rioter Who Stole Pelosi’s Podium Identified as Florida Dad
A man seen gleefully stealing what looks to be House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s podium in a now infamous photo from Wednesday’s Capitol riot has been identified by the Bradenton Herald as Adam Johnson, a father of five. He traveled from Parrish, Florida, to D.C. to join a group of protesters who later stormed the Capitol to oppose a peaceful transfer of presidential power. The 36-year-old was quickly identified from a photo that went viral where he’s seen grinning at the camera. He could face felony charges for destruction of government property.
Washington DC US Attorney Michael Sherwin said the actions of the Capitol Police, “made our job more difficult,” specifically not detaining suspects as they left the Capitol. “Why they weren’t zip-tied as they left the building, I don’t know.” Said Mr. Sherwin.

On the contrary, the world is full of authoritarians and fascists that are absolutely rock hard for the Trumps right now.
All of the vague, conspiratorially emotional shit they pull translates well internationally, and they’re already a recognizable brand: fascism is all about superficiality and the aesthetics of power, and the Trumps have done a good job honing an American version of what that lunatic running Khazakhistan does. The Trumps also have openly signaled that they operate in the favor-exchanging-between-elites system of governance favored by both monarchists—like your ME petrostates—and your modern gangster states.
Also…the Trumps represent a commercial hook embedded in the brains of millions of dumbasses that have demonstrated their willingness to be ripped off in return for valueless affirmation of their inherent superiority. Heck, they’re not even expelled from conservatism’s circle of influencers at this point.
…and barring some miracles they’re about to be a giant money laundering operation that has agents embedded in the US government.

- Dear children! Everyone knows about Lenin’s extraordinary kindness. I will tell you of one such case. Once in Razliv, in exile, Lenin was shaving near his hut, and a little boy was walking by. So, Lenin is sharpening his razor, while he himself is looking at the boy. Then Lenin finishes shaving, washes his brush, and now he is sharpening his razor again all the time glancing at the boy. Then he wipes the razor and puts it back in the case without even slashing the boy! Such a kind man was our Lenin.

Or we could all switch to the Jewish calendar. New Year’s is in the autumn, the date varies from year to year, and in leap years we have 2 February’s.
That sounds complicated.
The Discordian Calendar has cooler day names (Sweetmorn, Boomtime, Pungeday, Prickle-Prickle, Setting Orange) and month names (Chaos, Discord, Confusion, Bureaucracy, The Aftermath), along with more holidays (which are subject to local additions).

Exactly. That’s why I ask if they will change their minds now that one of their own was killed.
So, a Capitol Police officer was killed as a result of the insurrection.
Trump is directly responsible. The GOP is directly responsible. Cruz, Hawley, and the rest of the Trump Treasonweasel Party is responsible.
This death could have been avoided had GOP stopped Trump before this. They had the last clear chance. They refused. Those leading the Capitol Police let one of their own die because they refused to see any threat in a bunch of armed white insurrectionists planning to march on the Capitol to interrupt the process of the transfer of power between administrations.

I built myself a new Windows computer a couple of weeks ago. From opening the boxes the motherboard, CPU etc. came in to having a working system with Windows 10 installed (pre-downloaded) took about three hours. Apple kit, on the other hand…
My kids are anti-Apple. They fell far from the tree.
re: #207 plansbandc
Oh wow. Now I have to watch all of them. Thanks!!
The Cars The Cars is in my top 3 albums. It’s perfect.
The Cars laughed about it being their greatest hits album because of how ridiculously good it was. I mean how do you top it?
They were one of my bands that as soon as the album came out, I went out and bought it. Didn’t ever need a preview.
That series is lots of fun. Even songs I don’t really care for - and sometimes, rarely, he’s really saying “_IS_ this song great?” - there is always lots of great analysis to chew on.
re: #170 William Lewis
If anyone needs a delightful way to spend a few minutes obsessing about a nearly perfect rock song instead of the current messes, Rick Beato dropped another one of his series of videos on “What Makes This Song Great?” The song is “Just what I Needed” by The Cars:

It is, indeed, a great song.

Yes. One of felony murder of a law enforcement officer. And then the one of the insurrectionist who was killed while trying to storm the chamber.

Is his surname Zoffman or Coffman? Both stories I’ve seen use the Zoffman spelling on first mention, but Coffman on subsequent mentions. My autocorrect keeps wanting to change Zoffman to Coffman, and I’m wondering if the news reports are having the same problem.
Can’t get the audio up. The TV text is not consistent. I think it’s pronounced “Asshole”, with the stress on “Ass”.

US Capitol Police officer has died following pro-Trump riot (CNN)
I guess we can add “cop killer” to the list of crimes.
(CNN)A US Capitol Police officer has died from events stemming from Wednesday’s riot at the Capitol, three sources confirm to CNN, in which a mob of President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the building to stop the counting of electoral votes that affirmed President-elect Joe Biden’s win.
The police officer is now the fifth person to die as a result of the day’s violence. One woman was shot and killed by Capitol Police as the crowd breached the building and three others suffered medical emergencies that proved fatal.

I loved The Cars first two or three albums. Elliot Easton was such a great guitar player for them. While I preferred Orr’s vocals, I am still a fan of Ocasek’s songs, too. I always felt like they were the first band to anticipate how music would sound on digital formats.

It’s just him by himself, with no one to corroborate that this is an event that actually happened. One of the many reasons why I have Apple computers.
Yeaht try doing that on one of the new ones with the hard drive soldered to the motherboard. Working at a school that deals with hundreds of macbook airs and macbook pros, the new ones are a pain in the ass to deal with. Any time there is a problem they have to swap out the entire main board. User serviceable is becoming more and more rare.
Sometimes they can even save the data for you, but since you can no longer pull the hard drive before you return it for service there is no guarantee unless you have your own backup.

I would have too if he had asked a few hours ago. We did everything he asked, we stayed patient; we trusted he would never stop fighting for us. He sold everyone in DC out so fast.He told us the election was stolen. He told us to go to DC to do something about. He told us it was going to be wild. He jazzed everyone up at a rally. He sent everyone to the capitol building. He immediately sold out his most ardent supporters without batting an eye. He then immediately hands over the keys of the empire to the globalist. He vows that he will make sure his followers are brought to justice, but not a single fucking election fraudster will.
I’m don’t believe Trump was betraying us the whole time. He fought for us the whole time, but he betrayed us pretty hard in the end.

Goodbye america 🥺
Here’s Rep. Mo Brooks screaming at the mob “Today is the day American patriots start taking down names and KICKING SOME ASS!”
Those people stormed the Capitol. One picked up a fire extinguisher and crushed the skull of cop. The cop is now dead.@RepMoBrooks you killed that cop pic.twitter.com/chjLKSwLzw— tom choad (@tomablogger) January 8, 2021

Woohoo. I swapped the drives into the new/old Mac Pro and she started right up. I love it when a plan comes together.
Recommend that you now clone that drive, something killed the old mac, and it could have diminished the future life of the swapped drive.
