I recently posted video of Antoine Boyer’s version of this Charlie Parker standard, so here’s a very different approach (at a much faster tempo) by Sicilian finger-style virtuoso Matteo Mancuso. That right-hand technique is just… [ chef’s kiss ]

I said this the other day…Clark taking the fifth is big trouble for Trump.

Jeffrey Clark’s Fifth Amendment assertion might seem like a way for Clark to delay criminal charges and slow down the investigation, but it is also telling criminal prosecutors to dig deeper because something illegal happened after the election.

From the previous thread:

re: #237 Barefoot Grin

I’ve made the same points in my head to Anymouse’s posts, but the difference is that IF BBB passes, there will be something to show—you can’t let that go to waste, and you can’t get the message across entirely with media ads. There has to be groundwork. That’s all.

hi

It seems the other part of my posts have been missed somehow.

Local Democrats have to run for office.

If democracy matters, if uplifting others because a “rising tide lifts all boats” (to steal a Republican talking point) matters, then local Democrats need to stop saying things like “I don’t have time” or “I’m not sure I would be a good candidate,” &c. Local Democrats can also make that case, where their neighbours know them personally and can relate to local problems solved by Democratic policies.

When my wife and I drove to Valentine for a vacation in 2020, there were signs all across the Sandhills on “rural Democrats for Biden.” That in the most right-leaning House district in the nation. While Biden didn’t take this district, he did take NE-2, and barely a peep out of the national party. Meanwhile in Valentine, Democrats flipped the city council and school board.

For the Unicameral district including the Sandhills (the largest state district in the nation outside of Alaska and always the most expensive to run in), the Democratic candidate came within two hundred votes of flipping the seat.

State Senator Carol Blood (D-District 3, Sarpy County) has been barnstorming all over the Panhandle running for Governor. She notes that her internal polling shows that NE-3 has Democrats about half a point behind the Republicans for Governor (where a bruising primary is going to take place).

Every seat in every race must be contested. I am tired of looking at ballots where the only Democrats on them are for President and Vice President.

Last election cycle here local Democrats worked on local elections, flipping a whole bunch of school board seats and some city council seats.

Just as local Democrats need to actually put in the work, national Democrats need to stop ignoring the work of local Democrats.

How much have you heard from the national party about all the local seats flipped in Georgia in the recent election? I saw a Twitter thread from an activist, and that’s all.

I disagree on the Bush v Gore point. The facts of that case were going to lead to shitty results no matter what. Florida’s law was poorly written and destined to fail in a close election like 2000. Had there been one more Dem appointee than Republican appointee and the decision went the other way, Republicans would have spent the last 20 years claiming the Dems politicized the Court and chose party over country.

My own theory - which Mrs. Fish endorses - is that the lawyer, whom they presumably called as soon as they saw the headlines, got ahold of them in the middle of doing something INCREDIBLY stupid, and persuaded them to come back and face the music, because continuing on their course would only make things a hell of a lot worse.

meanwhile in Kentucky:

A school resource officer at Conner Middle School in Hebron was informed on Nov. 23 that a student possessed a notebook “containing specified acts of violence,” officials said in a news release on Friday.

Officials said the notebook identified specific people and detailed how the student would encounter them.

During an interview with the school resource officer, the student admitted to writing the contents of the notebook, but that he was “merely writing the thoughts down that were in his head,” the release reads.

Officials said the officer consulted with a court designated worker who handles the filing of criminal charges against juveniles.

On Friday, a student at Milford Junior High School was arrested after police said the juvenile had compiled a “kill list” of other students.

Police in Hewitt, Texas, spiced up the town’s annual Kill a Tree for Christ festivities last night by adding a little Long Arm of the Law to the festivities,”arresting” a guy in a Grinch costume for the crime of attempted Christmas theft. Here’s the cheerful video of the beloved Dr. Suess character getting the full “COPS: Whoville” treatment.

Waco TV station KXXV reports that the entire local criminal justice apparatus got into the act, and for that matter, the TV station copy got into the carceral Christmas spirit, too.

(the poorly-designed butterfly ballot was worth a few hundred votes going not where the voters intended, and Ralph Nader’s egotism peeled off thousands of votes… but Katherine Harris’ actions were pure partisan malice).

Incorrect. If black/latino people start using AR-15s to kamikaze murder billionaires, I’m guessing there will be ALL KINDS of calls on Fox News and Hate Radio to “enforce the clearly sensible meaning of “well-regulated militia” embedded in the 2nd Amendment.”

re: #91 Khal Wimpo (free internal organs upon request!)

Incorrect. If black/latino people start using AR-15s to kamikaze murder billionaires, I’m guessing there will be ALL KINDS of calls on Fox News and Hate Radio to “enforce the clearly sensible meaning of “well-regulated militia” embedded in the 2nd Amendment.”

Remember how Ronnie Reagan found gun control really REALLY appealing when the Black Panthers started tooling up and hanging around the capitol in Sacramento in the late 60s?

Yeah, like that.

Maybe, but not likely. The more probable response from the wingularity would be:

Bully SE: Race wars is coming!

Along with telling people to go buy all the guns and ammo

I’d bet you know all the local anime fans who like it enough to fly halfway across the county for a con. You’ve probably played D&D with him.

Much colder than average this week, but weather weirding continues as high temperatures across the region were broken yesterday (Sidney, Nebr. record only stood one day):

Well, no, but only because the crew I’ve played D&D with so far is a very small crew. If I had played with any of the other D&D groups in the area, then I’d agree with you.

Their bank would have to have quite the generous policy, then: my bank has a strict $500/day withdrawal limit on the ATMs, and they monitor those 24 hours very carefully.

ETA: guess it depends on the institution

Mine lets me set my own limit. I keep it low, and call them if I want to raise it for a specific purpose, like when I bought a computer.

I need some delicious homemade tacos.

We get curbside groceries and just can’t get the ingredients to do them properly. May have to suck it up and go inside the store one of these days.

We have a couple of authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. I might have to get some this weekend.

I was going to take a photo but discovered my plate was empty and my tummy was happy.

Foiled again.

We’re also lucky to have at least 6 authentic places in a six block radius.

Massive changes in the spike protein, evaded current immunity because of prior, more contagious, == not good. But delta is still the prevalent variant and the major killer.

I just watched this Sheriff’s interview with CNN’s Don Lemon. He was coming up with just about every excuse in the book why the accused school shooter’s parents were able to avoid arrest - if I didn’t know any better I would wager that he deliberately allowed them to get away.

According to the article, he was fully vaxxed and had a booster in November. Unfortunately, boosters can take 2-3 weeks to take effect. But this may be evidence that omicron evades vaccine protection; or maybe the vaccine reduces the symptoms.

You could run it in multiple transactions. Not that that wouldn’t be hella sus on its own, because that’d take for-freaking-ever.

That the parents appear to have seriously considered fleeing makes me wonder what sort of upbringing the little murderer had.
