Robert describes Islam to people who are unaware and demonstrates with texts the LIES muslims use daily in describing islam in the west.

Spencer pays opportunistic lip service to the reformability of Islam, offering no technical path to its reform and raining down casual dismissals of those who aspire to do so. I've spoken to a number of reformers who single Spencer out for special criticism in this regard.

Like Charles, I've defended him in the past, because his blog especially raises awareness of the Islamic menace and puts pressure on Muslims to clean house. He has been useful, and he does make good points here and there. But as a scholar he is decidedly second-rate, and should only be viewed as a counter-balance to Karen Armstrong types, i.e., if Karen Armstrong is going to be cited as a scholar, then Robert Spencer should be cited as one. Other than that, I'd place him on the level of an Oliver Stone when it comes to history.
