-RetweetOut of the Mosque, Into the Street

Fri, Sep 15, 2006 at 2:29:26 pm PDT

On several TV news shows, I’ve heard commentators say it was odd that all this Muslim anger and rage erupted today, several days after the Pope’s statements about Islam.

What’s odd about it? Today is Friday, and the crowds in photos from around the world with signs (in English) and masks and weapons are coming out of their neighborhood mosques, after listening to sermons by representatives of the Religion of Peace™. Nothing odd here. The massive demonstrations always erupt after Friday prayers.

"Hump of Islam" apparently loses something in translation.

I could swear that's Chris Cornell in the last photo.

Spot on:

The speech, some say, shows the pontiff intends to carry on with his strong defense of the values of the Christian West rather than compromise for the sake of building bonds with Islam.

In July 2005, about two months after assuming the papacy, Benedict was asked if he considered Islam a religion of peace. He said: "Certainly there are elements that favor peace. It also has other elements."

Up to now, only Merkel has defended the Pope's remarks. I'm waiting for ther Western heads of state to do the same.

FINALLY - a Pope that challenges the RoP.

For 5 years, all I hear at Mass is "Pray that the leaders around the world will seek peace" or "Pray for the victims of the war"

ONCE I heard a priest say, "Pray that our soldiers will defeat the terrorists" - Once, in 5 years...

Hopefully the priests will follow the Pope's lead and challenge Islam.

My favorite response to this fiasco was "To say that Islam is intolerant cannot be tolerated!" Or words to that effect - too hilarious.

Thanks to all Muslims who today proved the point that the Pope WASN'T trying to make: Islam is intolerant, full of hate, and yes, spread by the sword.

It will do when I am dying.
It will do when I am dying.

Original "How the Camel Got His Hump" by Rudyard Kipling

Re-written:

How Islam got its Hump

In the beginning of years, when the world was so new-and-all, and the Animals were just beginning to work for Man, there was a Muslim. He lived in the middle of a Howling Desert because he did not want to work. And when anybody spoke to him, he said "Humph." Just "Humph!" and no more.

One day the Horse came to him with a saddle on his back and said, "Muslim, O Muslim, come out and trot like the rest of us. There's lots to do."

"Humph!" said the Muslim; and the Horse went away.

Then the Dog came to him, with a stick in his mouth, and said, "Muslim, O Muslim, come and fetch and carry like the rest of us. We could use some help."

"Humph!" said the Muslim; and the Dog went away.

The Ox came to him, with the yoke on his neck and said, "Muslim, O Muslim, come and plow like the rest of us. There's work to be done."

"Humph!" said the Muslim; and the Ox went away.

Now all this made the three very angry (with the world so new-and-all). Presently there came along the Djinn in charge of all deserts. A Djinn is kind of like a wizard.

"Djinn of All Deserts," they said, "is it right for any one of us to be idle, with the world so new-and-all?"

"Certainly not," said the Djinn.

"Well, there's a thing in the middle of your Howling Desert, and he hasn't done a stroke of work since Monday morning. He won't trot," said the Horse.

The Dog barked his complaint. "He says, 'Humph!' and he won't fetch and carry."

"And he won't plow," said the Ox.

"Very good!" said the Djinn. "I'll humph him if you will kindly wait a minute."

The Djinn found the Muslim, looking at his own reflection in a pool of water. "My long and bubbling friend," said the Djinn, "what's this I hear of your doing no work, with the world so new-and-all?"

"Humph!" said the Muslim.

"You've made the other three animals do all of the work ever since the world began. That would be Monday."

"Humph!" said the Muslim.

"I shouldn't say that again if I were you," said the Djinn.

"Humph!" said the Muslim.

But no sooner had he humphed than he saw his back puffing up and puffing up into a great big lolloping humph.

"That's your very own humph," said the Djinn. You've brought it on your very own self by not working. Now you are going to work."

"How can I work, with this humph on my back?"

"You missed three days of work. You will be able to work now for three days without eating, because you can live on your humph. It's full of fat that you can use when there is no food to be found."

And the Muslim humphed himself, humph and all, and went away to join the Three. And from that day to this, the Muslim always wears a humph (we call it a "hump" now, not to hurt his feelings).

I think camel riders are compairing islam with a camel. like camel stores fat in hump, which it uses in hard days... when it is difficult for islam to survive...

anyways this banner ensures Muslims have hump in place of brain...

anyways dictionary.com speaks of one more meaning...

Slang (vulgar). to engage in sexual intercourse.

so it can also means "jihad has fu*ked islam"...

Insanity has a name and it’s Islam.

Besides, there's ample evidence inside that tome of terrorism, the koran that supports everything the Pope said. These chumps don't even get the irony of their scripted anger. 'We'll prove we're not violent by threatening violence and committing violent acts',

Indeed, insanity has a name.

I'm so sick of the liberal Christians (especially the liberal Catholics around where I live) who think Christianity requires caving into every act of Islamic aggression. Pakistani Muslims chant slogans to condemn Pope Benedict XVI for making what they regard as ‘derogatory’ comments about Islam, during a rally in Multan September 15, 2006

This is just too funny they are all holding signs defending Islam.. But why?..Many of our leaders...even Sean Hannity on the radio today claim Prophet Mohammad or Islam have nothing to do with the war on terror...Its just a handful of nameless terrorist...But it looks like some believe this Quote...

Qur’an:24:55 “Allah has promised to those among you who believe and do good work that He will make them rulers of the earth. He will establish in authority their religion—the one which He has chosen for them.”

They seem to think they will soon win the war...

.Head of the northern faction of the Islamic Movement Sheikh Raed Salah said Friday that “soon Jerusalem will be the capital of the new Muslim caliphate, and the caliph’s seat will be there.”

Salah addressed an audience of 50,000 attending the Islamic Movement’s 11th annual rally in Umm al-Fahm. “Caliph” refers to a leader of the Muslim nation and in Arabic means the “heir” or “substitute” of the prophet Muhammad.

I was going to post the following on the Hamas Lectures Pope on Islam thread when I realized it was every bit as relevant here and also the Unity Government thread.

Hamas Lectures Pope on Islam

Because they can. Simple as that.

The fact that the world is pretty much certain they will embrace a Palestinian unity (terorrist) government with Hamas at it's helm is one reason they can. I fear even the US will be bullied into giving their ok.

Hey guys, all you have to do is mouth the words you recognize Israel...that is enough for us!

Second, the fact that not one world leader has had the courage to call PA an incubator to terror and a harbinger of terrorist behavior WHICH THEY ARE, tells you why Hamas can say and do just as they please. Just like the PA who have done nothing to get rid of Hamas because they ARE HAMAS. Just like their role model in Iran.

The other:

What the PA/Hamas goverment needs to hear but never will is

you do as we say until then you don't call us, we call you.

Rather they hear this:

Just go to the polls and mimic democracy even though we know you are a no closer to democracy then Pluto. What the hell, that is good enough for us.

Fact that they are rioting like devils over a very truthful remark made by the Pope tells you what we have allowed them to get away with. Their poor sensitivities. Poor them...and on and on. I ask, at what point will enough be enough?

The war on terror will only be won when we take the helm from these incredibly spoiled islamofascist terrorists.

For that and so much more, we have only begun to wittnes their furry.

170 jrdroll  Fri, Sep 15, 2006 1:34:37pm

Well isn't this an interesting intellectual excercise. Question the tenants of "The Religon of Peace" and they become violent. I am so glad to hear that, but the fact remains, as I have pointed out ad infinitum here, that jihad terrorists worldwide are committing violence on a daily basis and justifying it on the basis of Islamic teachings that are rooted in the Qur'an, the example of Muhammad, and the schools of Islamic law. The fact remains that all those schools of law teach violent jihad and the subjugation of unbelievers -- all of them, without exception. The existence of such laws make the phrase of another Jihad Watch Board member, Ibn Warraq, continually relevant: there are moderate Muslims, but Islam itself is not moderate. "Moderate Muslims" in this usage refers to those who bear the name of Muslim but simply want to go about their business and live ordinary lives, without waging jihad against the kuffar. Obviously such people need also to acknowledge and reject the elements of Islam that give rise to fanaticism and violence, or their children or even they themselves will be susceptible to the jihadist appeal, based as it is on the plain words of the Qur'an and Sunnah

I hope you are right! My faith has been put to the test based on what is happening in my Episcopal church!

I'm a former Episcopalian. Its hard to find believers in that branch these days. Instead, its populated with social "peace & justice" folk; apologists for the Jesus Seminar...explaining away the resurrection (the wolves ate Him); and the usual anti-American left-leaning crowd. And they wonder why they're losing memberships.

My suggestion, find a church of Bible believers where the Spirit is alive. The denomination matters little.

For 5 years, all I hear at Mass is "Pray that the leaders around the world will seek peace" or "Pray for the victims of the war"

ONCE I heard a priest say, "Pray that our soldiers will defeat the terrorists" - Once, in 5 years...

I know exactly what you mean. As a Vietnam vet, I have to clamp my lips shut to keep from making rude noises when I hear, "Pray for the safety of our men and women in the armed forces and all innocent victims of war." Dammit, our troops could be safe by hiding or running away. Of course we want them to be safe, but mostly we want them to WIN. What in blue blazes is wrong with praying for victory? We're fighting rabid murderers.

As for those "innocent victims of war," by all means I pray for them, but I'm afraid these pantywaist priests mean enemy combatants, not innocent bystanders. If they really had any sympathy for "innocent victims," we'd hear more about all the women and children and tourists and (noncombatant) yeshiva students who've been blown to smithereens in Israel over the years.

The Pope is not giving, and I'm not giving, peaceful Muslims a chance to fight the "bin Ladenists" because we point out that that is happening? Just the opposite, Velshi. The Pope is showing the way, and since you mention me also I'll say that in my small way I am also trying to show the way, to the only truly viable path to genuine Islamic reform. But only showing the way: of course, that reform can be accomplished only by Muslims, if it can be done at all. Do I think that reform is likely? I don't, and for two reasons: 1. Because the texts to which I refer do actually exist, and jihadists can and do use them to paint any Muslim reformer as a heretic or apostate -- thus putting his life in danger. And 2. Because of denial from moderates, such as I have been discussing: If you won't even admit there is a problem, Velshi, you will never, ever, be able to fix it.
I have had debates with people here as to whether Robert Spencer thinks Islam can be reformed..He does not [Link: www.jihadwatch.org...]

The protesters are in Pakistan, and they're reacting to a German Pope who currently lives in Rome. Yet the signs are not in Latin, or Italian, or German, or Arabic, or Punjabi, or Urdu. The signs are in English. Why?

Well, we all know the answer to that question here, don't we? But don't we wish that a few more people would ask the question in public?

I pray as a catholic that the Pope does not apologize for his words. Liberals will insist that he show some sensitivity and that we seek common ground with our Muslim brothers and sisters so that we can live in harmony with one another.

Appeasement is the devil's tool. Islam has been infected with the Nazi disease and has thrown the gauntlet down on history's stage again.

I hope the West isn't too infected with liberal disease to respond.

216 kougar  Fri, Sep 15, 2006 2:12:05pm

Did a Google on hump thingy--

Why do they not reflect on the camels and how they are created? (88:17)

I think it’s interesting that of all the animals mentioned in the Quran—dogs, horses, birds, locusts, etc—God picked the camel as the one we should reflect upon. It’s not the most beautiful animal in the world; it’s not the fastest or the strongest; it’s not the most loyal or the most wild. But it’s a little bit of all of those things, and that gives it its character and its worth. God combined all of these traits, and many more, to create an animal perfectly suited to fill its niche in the world, and when we reflect just on that, it can teach us a lot about submitting to God’s will, and accepting our own place in the world with more grace and tolerance.

Egyptian FM: Pope does not understand 'real Islam'
By ASSOCIATED PRESS
HAVANA

Egypt's foreign minister on Friday said Pope Benedict XVI must explain himself after insulting the Muslim world with "unfortunate" remarks about Islam and jihad.

"He has to explain himself, and tell us what exactly did he mean," Egypt's Ahmed Aboul Gheit told The Associated Press. "It can't just be left like that."

Speaking in Germany, the pope cited an obscure Medieval text that characterized some of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad as "evil and inhuman."

"It's a statement that shows there is a lack of understanding of the real Islam," Gheit said during an interview at the Nonaligned Movement summit in Havana.

239 The Other Les  Fri, Sep 15, 2006 2:33:38pm

Three quotes from the Wikipedia:

"The name Friday comes from the Old English frigedæg, meaning the day of Frige the Anglo-Saxon form of Frigga, the Germanic goddess of beauty. In most Germanic languages it is named after Freya (Freitag in Modern German, vrijdag in Dutch, fredag in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish etc.), but Freya and Frigga are frequently identified with each other."

"Freya (Old Norse: Freyja), sister of Frey (Freyr) and daughter of Niord (Njǫrðr), is usually seen as the Norse fertility goddess.

Freyja means "lady" in Old Norse (cf. fru or Frau in Scandinavian and German). While there are no sources suggesting that she was called on to bring fruitfulness to fields or wombs, she was a goddess of love, sex, war, beauty, prophecies and attraction. Correspondingly, Freya was one of the most popular goddesses."

"As a battle-goddess, Freya rides a boar called Hildisvín the Battle-Swine. In the poem Hyndluljóð, we are told that in order to conceal Ottar, Freya transformed him into the guise of a boar. The boar has special associations within Norse Mythology, both relative to the notion of fertility and also as a protective talisman in war, probably because real boars can be quite fierce animals."

And Muslims have an unreasonable aversion to pigs and cluster together in their mosques on Friday.

Coincidence?

262 No submission.

This testimonial says it all.

After I converted, I gave up swimming as there were no women-only swimming options where I live. After several years I decided to give it a try in a modest suit and see how it went. I tried a Turkish swimsuit from *** I found myself very uncomfortable - that style of suit is totally impractical - the velcro from the hood hurts my chin and the hijab doesn't stay in place The suit is awkward and has zippers, ties and velcro that are ineffective and just uncomfortable. Swimming in that suit was like swimming in normal street clothes. I didn't want to swim, it wasn't enjoyable - I felt and looked awkward. Now that I have your suit I am thrilled. It is comfortable, the hood covers well and stays in place, the top is tied down so it doesn't ride up, the suit actually looks and feels like a swimsuit. In the water, I look like a real swimmer wearing a full body suit or scuba suit - but modest. Swimming is enjoyable again and I can actually swim for exercise like a real swimmer human being rather than someone in street clothes. bondage The shipping was very fast also. Thanks, Diana

"What do you mean, the 72 virgins are female?!?!?!?!?!?"

Actually, they're not, at least not all.

If I remember the segment correctly, paradise consists of 1 bed covered with 100 sheets, reclining upon which are 72 "everfresh" (neat trick that!) virgins. The other 28 are reserved for "everfresh" (even neater trick) prepubescent little boys.

And the usual rivers and fruit trees etc that would appeal to backwards desert nomads.

Somehow the 28 boys always seem to get left out when people quote the 72 virgins bit. Hmmm.

Freaky stuff man.

288 Truth Dr.  Fri, Sep 15, 2006 7:01:31pm

It's delicious that when one refers to Muslims as being violent, the Islamics go out and riot as if they have to prove the person right.

It is clear in the support that CAIR gives to racist, terrorist hate groups like Hezbollah and Hamas where the true state of Islam lies, no matter how hard CAIR tries to lie otherwise. I would say that seeking to cut off aid to Israel at a time when she is under attack from Hezbollah clearly shows where CAIR's sympathies lie.

I've thought about the whole Pope thing overnight and have some interesting speculations.

It starts from observing the dhimmi press - and some other commentators - opining that it shows the Pope is not "media savvy".

Suppose he IS media savvy

Suppose the Pope knows exactly what he is doing.

Suppose he is issuing an open invitation along the lines of "I am going to denounce you - come and get me if you dare - but if you strike me down I will become a million times more powerful than you could possibly imagine"

The Pope - along with the Islamic faction - has very strong religious beliefs.

He believes he will go to heaven - or maybe he is willing to take the risk - but the Pope (no matter what you think of the Christian religion) tends to take these things a little more seriously than most other poeople.

So if Islamic Terrorists strike him down he gets to heaven anyhow - but his martyrdom would inspire the entire Catholic world to rise up against the Islamic faction.

Now, ask yourself this.

Would the Pope, backed up by the mighty Vatcan PR machine say all this stuff if he didn't mean it and wasn't "media savvy"?

I think not - and we'll see the strength of his resolve as the pressure to apologise mounts.

If the Pope is really not scared of dying then the Islamists have met their match

They can call his bluff and make him a martyr - or they can back down and the whole world can figure out how to oppose the real and present danger of jihadi terrorism.

So let's get this straight...

The muspigs are really upset that the Pope has branded islam as a religion of violence. So the muspigs are rioting and carrying out random act of violence (as they always seem to do) to prove how peaceful they are and how the Pope got it all wrong?

Bit like the LLL 'peace demonstrators' who illustrate their devotion to peace by random acts of violence.

I wonder what Ghandi would make of all this?

I smell a war around the corner and I doubt it will eb more pelasant than the war against the previous nazi movement.

Not surprised. Mos even get upset at animated cartoons.
Turkey banned Winnie the Pooh because Piglet is a main character.
If they're so easily offended by innocent cartoons, is there anything that doesn't offend them?

I think what they meant to say was not " jihand is the hump of islam" but, instead...

" I'm a hot toe picker."

yeah, that's the ticket.

PS - On 9-12-2001 there should have been massive destruction in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Afganistan.

but you know...hindsight is 20/20 I suppose.

'War is inevitable. Postponing war can onlly benefit your enemy.' Machiavelli

The Pope knows what he's doing. Everybody knew they'd react like that after the cartoons gotem boiling. The Pope deliberately stirred them up again to warn Europe whats in store.

Maybe their next "prophet" will be Jihaadbert Humperdink.

On a more serious note, Muslims give death fatwas, riot and burn, call for the destruction of people and governments, they want to inflict genocide on Jews and exterminate all non-Muslims, and then they have the temerity to complain when His Holiness quotes someone in an historical context!

That is not what's surprizing though, it's that liberals allow Muslims to preach hate and violence and say nothing or give their tacit approval as But monkeys. And then they express outrage at the Pope's remarks.

The useless idiots will be eaten by the crocodiles they feed.

Nothing to offer here as far as thoughts, but I am enlightened by reading some of the views here. My eyes have opened, especially with the thought of the pope knowing what he is doing being media savvy and all. Makes a lot of sense to me.

Forgot who said "The Pope has no Army". He has extremely strong moral persuasian. He is no dummy, brilliant man. Not quite a Liberal Professor either, his religion is Catholicism not Liberalism. (Imagine that a nonLib Professor).

The Vatican is not a democracy. The Pope is supreme, king of kings. Lived history and not going to let it repeat itself. The man lived WWII / Hitler, he lived, learned and thats what made he and his predessor who they are. Put lesons they learned from life to use here. Wake up call to all.

Another scary-eye picture in that last one.

He's looking right...at...you...

Oh, that last pic is choice.

You know, even during jihadi riots, you can't just go off half-cocked to defend the hump of Islam:

The face of poor planning
