Left, CAIR Attack Peter King And Rudy Giuliani

Thu, Sep 20, 2007 at 7:22:58 pm PDT

The leftists at Politico tried to stage a hit on Rudy Giuliani and Peter King today, and I received more than a dozen emails pointing me at their deceptive piece: Giuliani adviser criticized for remark.

WASHINGTON - A homeland security adviser to Rudy Giuliani came under fire Thursday for claiming there were “too many mosques” in the United States — and defended himself by saying his point was that not enough Muslim leaders cooperate with law enforcement.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., the former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and the top GOP member on the panel, said his comments to the Politico Web site were taken out of context. Democrats said Giuliani should drop him as a campaign adviser.

“I stand by everything I said other than the fact that the Politico totally took it out of context,” King said Thursday.

In the Politico interview, King said: “Unfortunately we have too many mosques in this country, there’s too many people who are sympathetic to radical Islam. We should be looking at them more carefully, we should be finding out how we can infiltrate, we should be much more aggressive in law enforcement.”

After King complained, Politico posted video of the entire interview.

UPDATE at 9/20/07 8:29:27 pm:

Unindicted Hamas co-conspirators CAIR are also involved in this attack: Giuliani Adviser Under Fire for Comments.

The congressman was denounced by the DC-based Council on American- Islamic Relations, a group that has long accused King of lobbing unfair attacks against American Muslims.

“We call on Republican leaders and other people of conscience to repudiate Representative King’s bigoted remarks and to support the civil and religious rights of all Americans,” said CAIR official Corey Saylor.

Both the Muslim group and the Democratic party called on Giuliani to drop King from the campaign.

UPDATE at 9/20/07 8:41:57 pm:

Daily Kos front page writer ‘DHinMI’ aligns with CAIR: Daily Kos: Peter King, Bigoted Jackass.

That's the part they don't want to deal with. Better to make King look like a bigot than recognize the fifth column within.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on Muslims and other people of conscience to ask Republican leaders to repudiate remarks by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) in which he said “we have too many mosques in this country.”

CAIR also asked that Americans of all faiths contact Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani and urge him to drop King and commentator Daniel Pipes as campaign advisors because of their extremist and Islamophobic views and comments.

Pipes is the real target here. They hate him because he won't kowtow and isn't afraid to put it on the line and say what's really happening. He's courageous and, as I've said before, a genuinely good guy.

S.C. mom scoops al-Qaida with its videos

Once her son is off to school, Laura Mansfield settles in at her dining room table with her laptop and begins trolling Arabic-language message boards and chat rooms popular with jihadists.

Fluent in Arabic, the self-employed terror analyst often hacks into the sites, translates the material, puts it together and sends her analysis via a subscription service to intelligence agencies, law enforcement and academics.

Occasionally she comes across a gem, such as when she found a recent Osama bin Laden video — before al-Qaida had announced it.

"I realized, oh my gosh, I'm sitting here, I'm a fat 50-year-old mom and I've managed to scoop al-Qaida," said Mansfield, who uses that name as a pseudonym because she receives death threats.

She sometimes spends 100 hours a week online, and she often finds items after word has begun spreading on the Arabic forums of an imminent release.

“All the mosques now have pro-US messages now,” Major Peters said. “They used to be anti-American, in part because AQI barged in and told them to broadcast anti-Americanism or die.”

Tells you something that you have to go to Anbar to find pro-American messages in a Mosque.

I don't see Rudy caving on this one. This is the reason a segment of Republicans support him. If he caves, he leaves this issue open for another to swoop up. His motive may be purely political (I dunno), but its working for him.

Freedom of thought and expression.
My thought is that islam is not compatible with the lifestyle of the USA. The more radical moslems are already pushing for us to adapt to a mild sharia. Footbaths in airport restrooms, taxi drivers who inflict their belief system on patrons.
Who needs it?
There are too many mosques in the US, and remember wherever a mosque is planted is dar-al-islam forever.

OT: MSM stirs the flames of hate in latest deception.
La. protests hark back to '50s, '60s

By MARY FOSTER, Associated Press Writer

JENA, La. - Drawn by a case tinged with one of the most hated symbols of Old South racism — a hangman's noose tied in an oak tree — thousands of protesters rallied Thursday against what they see as a double standard of prosecution for blacks and whites.

The plight of the so-called Jena Six became a flashpoint for one the biggest civil-rights demonstrations in years. Five of the black teens were initially charged with attempted murder in the beating of a white classmate.

Old-guard lions like the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton joined scores of college students bused[sic] in from across the nation who said they wanted to make a stand for racial equality just as their parents did in the 1950s and '60s.

"It's not just about Jena, but about inequalities and disparities around the country," said Stephanie Brown, 26, national youth director for the NAACP, who estimated about 2,000 college students were among the throngs of mostly black protesters who overwhelmed this tiny central Louisiana town.

But the teens' case galvanized demonstrators as few legal cases have in recent years.

The cause of Thursday's demonstrations dates to August 2006, when a black Jena High School student asked the principal whether blacks could sit under a shade tree that was a frequent gathering place for whites. He was told yes. But nooses appeared in the tree the next day. Three white students were suspended but not criminally prosecuted. LaSalle Parish District Attorney Reed Walters said this week he could find no state law covering the act.

Brown said the Jena case resonates with the college-aged crowd because they aren't much older than the six youths charged. Many of the student protesters had been sharing information about the case through Facebook, MySpace and other social-networking Web sites.

Jackson, who led a throng of people three blocks long to the courthouse with an American flag resting on his shoulder, likened the demonstration to the marches on Selma and the Montgomery bus boycott. But even he was not entirely sure why Jena became the focal point.
"You can never quite tell," he said. "Rosa Parks was not the first to sit in the front of the bus. But the sparks hit a dry field."

re: #37 ted

Taranto had this to say about it yesterday:

A blast from the past from the State of Columbia, S.C.:

The Rev. Jesse Jackson called Tuesday on Democrats seeking the 2008 nomination for president to give S.C. voters "something to vote for" when they go to the polls in January. . . .

Jackson sharply criticized presidential hopeful and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama for "acting like he's white" in what Jackson said has been a tepid response to six black juveniles' arrest on attempted-murder charges in Jena, La. Jackson, who also lives in Illinois, endorsed Obama in March, according to The Associated Press.

"If I were a candidate, I'd be all over Jena," Jackson said after an hour-long speech at Columbia's historically black Benedict College.

"Jena is a defining moment, just like Selma was a defining moment," said the iconic civil rights figure, who worked with Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1965 Selma civil rights movement and was with King at his 1968 assassination.

As Salon.com pointed out almost seven years ago, Jackson compares everything to Selma. But if everything is a defining moment just like Selma was a defining moment, then nothing is. Maybe not even Selma.

I like Rudy, and by extension Peter King, but I do think he sorta stuck his foot in his mouth in this case. It's not a big deal, but there are somewhere around 1200 mosques in the United States. That's not many.

Our real problem isn't with the number of mosques -- it's with the people he addressed in the rest of his statement. The "...too many people who are sympathetic to radical Islam."

Men deny 'hate crime' at Tempe mosque

The three men accused of harassing a Muslim imam at a Tempe mosque on Sept. 11 say the incident has been misportrayed as a hate crime.

"We walked inside the mosque. We were curious about what was in there, like any other church," said Brandon Garcia, one of the three men. "We didn't stop to cause any trouble or to be mean to anyone."

Garcia, Michael Estes and Armando Tolosa were near the mosque on a plumbing job when they decided to go in to learn more about Islam, according to their employer, Richard Yeates, owner of a Mesa plumbing company.

Ahmed Al-Shqeirat, the imam, said Estes cursed at him and made derogatory comments about Muslim children passing by.

Because the incident happened on the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Al-Shqeirat and others in the Muslim community have said they consider the incident a hate crime.

Tempe police arrested Estes, 32, on suspicion of disorderly conduct. The other two men were not arrested.

"We basically looked at what the victims told us and we've done an investigation and determined there was a crime committed," said Mike Horn, Tempe police spokesman.

But Garcia and Tolosa said it was Al-Shqeirat who provoked Estes.

Al-Shqeirat said Estes asked him what he was hiding in the mosque. Garcia and Tolosa said Al-Shqueirat's report that Estes asked him what he was hiding in the mosque was untrue. They also said they never made any negative comments about kids.

"We were just asking questions. And (Al-Shqeirat) was fine at first," Tolosa said. "I guess he felt offended."

Al-Shqeirat got more upset as Estes asked more questions, Tolosa said. He said the imam suggested they make an appointment for a tour, which matches the imam's story. Tolosa said they told Al-Shqeirat that they were interested in a tour, but that Al-Shqeirat abruptly asked the men to leave. They complied, he said.

Tolosa and Garcia admit that when Al-Shqeirat began taking pictures of them as they walked out to their company vehicle, Estes cursed at him. Estes' language was in response to them being photographed without permission, they said.

"They are trying to make something out of nothing for their own gain," Yeates said of the imam.

There is a non-jihadi mosque not far from my house. Baitus Samee, a masjid of the Ahmadiyya branch of Islam. They think the Mahdi already came, and told them to knock off the violent jihad stuff.

Hence, they are banned in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, and face prison in Pakistan if they call themselves Muslim.

The only problem with monitoring Mosques is the dearth of Arabic speakers in US intelligence agencies, or so I've heard. If we had the manpower, I would want every single mosque in America monitored at all time. (And the prison Imams, too, of course.) If CAIR/ACLU etc. complain, monitor the Churches and synagogues as well; I know my church would be happy to have some FBI joining us--we'd take anyone, and have nothing to hide.

I think that's what King was trying to say. I read it as an attempt to correct the first statement. Kinda like this:

“Unfortunately we have too many mosques in this country,

er, uh

... there’s too many people who are sympathetic to radical Islam. We should be looking at them more carefully, we should be finding out how we can infiltrate, we should be much more aggressive in law enforcement.”

I hear you. I think that's a totally legit thing to say, although I'm not sure King himself has made that assertion.

Hmmm. Building mosques about as fast as churches are not being built in this country. I still see about 30 strip-mall, empty-shop and elementary school temp/squatter churches for every real church in this country. Know you can worship anywhere if your faith is strong, but it's kinda embarrassing that they out-distance us in their material institutionalization of their beliefs.

It wouldn't give me the twitters quite so much if I saw 10 to 15 big beautiful churches for every one mosque built on American soil. And same general idea for the population demographic. They see that America is struggling in these areas, and it emboldens. Whatever King is saying now or really meant, the truth is they are attempting to conquer by stealth, and we all know it.

Well, I just watched the video to get some context. Peter King says there are "too many mosques" in America. It seems pretty clear. I think he can retract that part, to clarify. But, the main point is the number of folks in the mosques that are radicalized, the difficulty in monitoring the radicals and the lack of cooperation with the Muslim community that we are getting (according to King). This just adds weight to the thinking that the mosque leaders don't want our help removing the radicals.

1993, spent 3 months living in Jena while working just West of town on US 84 in Trout, LA for Hunt Petroleum Corp.

The guys there said the real scary racist town was just South of Jena, a town called Nebo, where "n*****s better be gone by sundown".

To see a movie, had to drive to either Monroe or Alexandria.

Lots of creeks and bayous, bass fishing quite popular, especially near Cowpen Bayou, but I usually only caught gar.

I did have a bite once, that before it snapped my line, must have been pulling with close to 100 pounds of force. No idea what that was, but it wasn't me snagged, pulling in, it was running out.

Democratic party spokeswoman Stacie Paxton called on King to apologize and urged Giuliani to drop King as his homeland security adviser, saying "this type of bigoted language has no place in public discourse."

Has Democratic party spokeswoman Stacie Paxton ever called on Kos , HuffPo, etc., to clean up their language, or the MSM to print ALL the truth that they have available when they run articles?

How about calling on Hillary! to cease, forever, trying to effect a Southern accent in public?

I'd go to the mat for Rudy Guliani, because if the roles were reversed, I believe he'd do the same for me. He doesn't give a shit about what the liberal media says about him.

He's the only one currently running for president that I'm confident will stand up to terrorists, leftists, the press corps and other assorted ne'er-do-wells. (Even Fred will eventually cave.)

And I don't give a god-damn about his "family life".

Four in Baton Rouge, PLUS an Islamic school which teachers K-12 public school curriculum. The school was news to me. Don't know why, but two of the mosques here self-identify as "primarily African-American".

Yes - we have several of the same in Oakland (no surprise) and SF.

Gray is in coonass country, down by Thibodaux, isn't it?

(Coonass isn't a racial term, it refers to the Acadien people, Francophones driven from Canada after the British won the war, who, because they were a rustic people, did not fit in well with the Creole French living near New Orleans, and settled farther West in the swamp country, with some settling in the coastal plains beyond the swamps. The Biloxi 'Red Stick' Indians (Indigenous Americans) taught these French-Canadian settlers how to catch and boil crawfish, and the rest is history.

Somewhere near Alec is the line that separates the Catholic Coonass people from the Baptist Redneck people.

Did anyone else see the profile of Rudy in the NY Times Sunday magazine a couple of weeks back? Here's a disappointing quote from Giuliani:

“The other thing, I have to tell you, is that I have real knowledge of the other side of it, of the Arab-Muslim world that is peaceful, friendly, that is peaceful, that loves freedom as much as we do, that loves us and cares about us, that loves America, that exists in the Arab world and that exists in the Muslim world.” I looked up, disbelieving. This was precisely the opposite of what Podhoretz and other advisers had said; it sounded more like the Giuliani who had eloquently appealed for calm on behalf of New York’s Muslim community after Sept. 11. Giuliani forged on, offering his own distinctly capitalist version of a campaign to erase the stains of Guantanamo Bay and win the “hearts and minds” of Muslims — a plan that seemed to hinge on turning Syria into Dubai.

“If you want an oversimplification of people in the Middle East, they are entrepreneurs,” he said with evident enthusiasm. “They’re commercial people. They’re people we can get along with. And when they can develop their own reasons for modifying some of the ancient interpretations to make themselves part of the modern world, it really works. So I’m very open to doing more business with them, having more interchange with them, getting Americans to understand who they are and what they are.”

Read it and weep.

On topic- it is clear that King was not calling for the elimination of Mosques but rather saying the brutal truth- a lot of Mosques in the US are run by people opposed to freedom democracy and especially freedom of faith.

The kind of people who cynically send out action alerts to defend the very people King is pointing to by masking their attack on King by twisting his words in the name of the very danger King is discussing.

1. I believe in the equality of dignity of men and women and the freedom of conscience.
2. Please understand, I will never submit, but I have no problem with your decision to do so.

Do you have low numbers of illegals as well?

Not hardly. And - we used to call them migrant workers, because that's what they used to do - Migrate. I like the term illegals without the immigrant hangin' on the end. If they are not here legally, they are not immigrants.

I saw a lady and her daughter at the Y the other day, dressed in long skirts, long-sleeved blouses, and what I believe they call hijabs - or scarves if you will. Couldn't see the woman's hair, and both her and her daughter appeared to be East African. We see so few people of color other than white and red (Native American) that it was an eye-opener to see these two - at the Y. The first thing that I wondered was what exactly they were going to do at the Y and remain clothed the way that they were.

Rudy on Muslims/Arabs:

They’re people we can get along with. And when they can develop their own reasons for modifying some of the ancient interpretations to make themselves part of the modern world, it really works. So I’m very open to doing more business with them, having more interchange with them, getting Americans to understand who they are and what they are.”

She won't start making any money for at least 2 more years. The highest pay she has been offered for her fellowship in LA is $67,000 a year. A SCUD missile and its transporter-erector-launcher (TEL)

In its current edition, Jane's Defence Weekly (subscription required) is reporting that "dozens" of Iranian engineers and at least 15 Syrian officers were killed during recent accident involving a chemical warhead on a SCUD missile.

We haven't seen that edition of Jane's, but details of the article have been published by the Jerusalem Post, Israel's Channel 10 television and other media outlets. According to sources who spoke with JDW, the accident occurred on 23 Juy at a facility in Syria. Members of the joint Syrian-Iranian team were attempting to mount a chemical warhead on a SCUD missile when an explosion occurred, "spreading lethal chemical agents, including Sarin nerve gas.

Reports of the accident apparently circulated at the time. However, Jane's reports that the Syrian government never released details of the accident and there was no hint of an Iranian connection until recently.

Still, something about this account doesn't quite add up, for several reasons. First, it doesn't take a team of 30 (or more) people to mount a chemical warhead on a SCUD, even if the Iranians and Syrians were experimenting with some sort of prototype. An experienced load crew consists of roughly than a dozen technicians, with a small crane and a limited amount of support equipment. Missile warheads are designed to be loaded quickly and efficiently, under combat conditions, and with a minimal "signature." If the Syrians and Iranians had a small crowd involved in the loading operation, they were inviting trouble.

Yes, I am a little bummed, I was expecting a strong tropical storm to hit early Saturday in SE or SC Louisiana, and to watch the SC-LSU game on CBS in a driving rain and wind storm, the way SEC football should be played.

This may drift that way after coming ashore, so the rain part may work out.

And, believe it or not, GFS for a couple of runs says Louisiana only has two days off, before another tropical cyclone that develops in the Caribbean arrives on the coast

1.) ‘DHinMI' is suspiciously close to 'Dhimmi.' I'm sure he/she (or he-she?) doesn't get the irony.

2.) Peter King said there were too many mosques. 'Dhimmi' counters in he-she's first paragraph with a littany of fringe Christian/Jewish groups. The key word here is FRINGE - there are not too many of these groups/people. These are groups that will find no shelter or supporters among the vast majority of Christians or Jews, while Muslims will continually turn a blind eye to the radicals among them. See #3 and #4.

3.) The Koran calls on Muslims to grow in strength in foreign lands and fight from within using infidel legal and social systems. Maybe that's why Muslims won't condemn the 'radicals'... They actually tacitly SUPPORT THEM.

4.) According to the Koran, a Muslim can fight the Jihad by giving money and non-military support to the cause. Again, Muslims who refuse to condemn radical Islam are actually part of the problem. The logical conclusion is that a mosque is a meeting place for these radicals and their supporters. There is no room for a 'lapsed Muslim' in Islam or a mosque... it's in the damn Koran. Read it. Go to JihadWatch.com. Learn it.

Fuck... There's not enough light beer in the world to ease the pain of reading a Daily Kos post. Bartender...

Here is al-NY Slimes re Israel, and re the Shoah....

This I will never forgive or forget:

[...]Especially abroad, some mistakenly presume that the New York Times must be pro-Israel since it is Jewish-owned and has several prominent Jewish writers and editors. In fact, it may be precisely for this reason that it bends over backward to avoid being seen as the "Jew York Times," as one European journalist I used to work with in Israel called it. There would be nothing new in this. The Times deliberately downplayed reports on the Holocaust in the 1940s. It hid news of the ongoing genocide of European Jewry "in small print on the back pages... Jewish-owned but anxious not to be seen as Jewish-oriented," as historian David S. Wyman put it.[...]

Please read the whole article. It is long, but very telling.

I would love to see al-NY Slimes go out of business.

Peter King, Bigoted Jackass by DHinMI

"DHinMI"? A typo? Did he mean DHimMI? Regardless, he and the vast majority of the Kos Kiddies who responded seem to be either practicing to become dhimmis or are totally clueless about Mohammedanism. Then again, judging by the many retarded remarks on Kos about abortion clinics being blown up, the terrible threat of "Christianists" and at least one post supporting the Persian president's plan on visiting Ground Zero, many of the posters on this particular diary on Kos are both: clueless little lefties practicing to become good dhimmis. The stupid fucks.

It is a mistake to label these fools as tiny Neville Chamberlains, for Chamberlain, who certainly was a British patriot, finally did wake up to the threat of Hitler when der Fuhrer invaded Poland. In other words, Chamberlain finally realized that appeasement to an aggressive totalitarian movement does not work. I'm not so sure what Mohammedan outrage will ever cause many of the delusional, pompous, left-tard, Che-worshiping, pea-brained, pseudo-intellectual jackasses at Kos to learn this important lesson.

While I believe in the freedom of religion it is becoming more and more obvious, as Bobibutu wrote in the very first post on this subject, that there are too many Mosques; not only in this country but around the world.

321 Confuzed  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 10:33:25pm

It's quite simple, there are only 3 choices:

a. There are too many mosques in America.
b. There are just the right amount of mosques in America.
c. There are too few mosques in America.

I'd suspect a random survey, with true anonymity, would should the majority of Americans choosing a.

322 Orde  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 10:34:51pm

I would recommend that Rudy do everything possible to get Mark Gabriel on his team ASAP. The man's not only an ex-Muslim who memorized the Quran by age 12, but he's a former imam who earned his doctorate in Islamic history from the prestigious Al-Azhar, the premier authoritative Islamic university in the world, where he also taught; plus not only that, he's also a committed Christian (another area Rudy can use a boost in), and a great communicator and teacher who can break the realities of Islam down for those unfamiliar with it.

You think 1200 mosques in the U.S. is not that many, Cognito? Shall we wait till it gets like Europe before we start to worry? Bad idea, if Bruce Bawer's book, While Europe Slept, is accurate.

Also, according to this, Steven Emerson reports that

...experts, some of them Muslim...have estimated that 50 to 80 percent of the 1200 Muslim mosques in the U.S. had been taken over by extremists.

325 Arbalest  Thu, Sep 20, 2007 11:00:15pm

The diary of the Kos poster DHinMI looks like the blog equivalent of severely modern avant-garde art (with extra paint?). Note the literary references towards the end; it reads like propaganda-by-amateur: it might fool high-school students, but maybe not.

First, an overall inspection.

Read closely, then step back. All of his examples of Christian radicals / terrorists / problems / whatever, are small-time. Ditto for similar Jewish movements.

Compare any of them to the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hizballah or even the Taliban (metrics: supporters, funding, dead bodies).

Could all of the Christian and Jewish groups together raise as much money as the Holy Land Foundation?

Even the radicals in Pakistan are more dangerous than the groups DHinMI lists. Even the Saudis are more dangerous, and they have their own country

Now compare the living conditions, by religion, in Christian nations (The Vatican, probably some in Europe) and in Muslim nations (Saudi, Iran, Egypt, Pakistan). Lebanon, since WW2, in an interesting case.

The premise of the post, that radical Christians and Jews are as threatening as Muslims, fails.

DHinMI’s post really doesn’t float, yet won’t flush. Avant-garde..

Now, take the risk and scratch the paint to see what’s underneath.

The high points of the rest of DHinMI’s post:

We are fortunate that mosques in the U.S. are not the fertile recruiting stations for Jihadis that they are in Europe.

Is it possible that DhinMI has not heard the latest from Dearborn, MI? What about the jihadi in Salt Lake City? New Jersey?

But in Europe, Muslims are much more marginalized and discriminated against, and thus much less integrated in to society than in the US.

Europe has a long historical experience with Muslims; Muslims have invaded and tried to conquer and subjugate Europe more than once in the last 1300 years. Tours and Vienna come to mind.

We have reliable records of Muslim aggression from Spain (711-1492), France (raids in the 800s), Greece, the Byzantine Empire and what was once Yugoslavia (1071 to the 1820s) and in fact all the way to the gates of Vienna.

More to the modern-day point, we see how Lebanon has changed since WW2 (once ~80% Christian, now 40%?, and why?), the number of Muslim immigrants to Europe today who subsist only on state assistance, their pattern of self-segregation . . . . . . . .

We know what the results of Muslim conquest are, and we can still see them, from North Africa to Pakistan.

Like so many Republicans who prattle on about keeping us safe from terrorism (as they do little to catch Osama bin Laden . . . . . . .

I suppose we need to ask Hillary! if the “Road to 9/11” on DVD will be released before the 2008 elections.

Peter King is . . . . . . creating and exploiting fear. Fear of terrorists, fear of tolerance, fear of protecting Americans’ First Amendment rights. . . .

Shall we compare Peter King to CAIR, or the Flying Imams?

But lets hope the fear-mongering is losing its potency . . .

Yes, let’s. Unfortunately, at the moment it takes an Act of Congress to keep fear-mongering / intimidation at bay.

Sometimes, it’s best to leave the paint on the work of severely modern and avant-garde art unscratched. It does indeed smell like the pile of stiff dog logs that it is.

Oh, and “By the way, if you want a copy of” Road to 9/11, it still isn’t available.

re: #322 Orde

Great idea. Mark Gabriel might be the highest level defector from Islam ever.

As a professor at Al-Azhar, he started questioning the Qur'an, and Egyptian secret police threw him in prison and tortured him. Stripped naked, he was closed inside a lightless vat of water overnight with a bunch of rats. The rats didn't bite him, but apparently to keep from drowning, they did crawl all over him. Later he was taken out of the vat and put naked in a room with a mean looking dog. The dog however didn't hurt him. After finally being let out, he isolated himself in his family's home for a year, questioning, seeking, spiritually hungry. As I recall the story, he had an almost constant headache. One day he went into some shop that happened to be run by Christians. Somehow he got hold of a Bible, and that night his headache of a year went away and stayed away. He felt he had found a real path, a path of love.

When his father found out the son had abandoned Islam, his father tried to shoot him but missed. At some point along the way, the apostate adopted the name Mark Gabriel, and managed to get out of Egypt. He was in his mid-thirties. I gather he now lives in the United States. Since leaving Egypt, he's added a master's degree in world religion and a Ph.D in Christian education to the doctorate in Islamic studies he already held back in Egypt. I've read and learned much from his book Jesus and Muhammad. He also wrote Islam and Terrorism and a third book called Islam and the Jews. Perhaps he's written others as well.

I think threecoloursblue is not a well-meaning anti-bigot. A bit about James Sutter: the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), designated by the U.S. government as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror trial, has employed a smear article against Robert Spencer and his website, in an effort to silence Spencer. Notably, the smear letter was written by convicted felon "Rev." Jim Sutter, who sometimes goes by other names, was ordained by mail order, claims to have degrees and honors (including the Navy Cross) that he has not received, relishes using libel, and pretends he cares about stopping bigotry and hate. Spencer reports that Pastor Ernie Sanders, one of Sutter's former associates, says that "Sutter is mentally ill, and has cooked up lies about many, many people. He is, said Pastor Ernie, a danger to himself and others." See, for example

I agree with you completely. I might or might not be wrong about threecoloursblue being Sutter. But whether he is Sutter or not, his post proceeded in the same scurrilous mode as do Sutter's works. Threecoloursblue light-heartedly throws around the term "bigot," bludgeoning his chosen innocents, in this case King, whom threecoloursblue attempted to smear by very casually letting drop, without a shred of evidence, the notion that King is guilty of three or four different varieties of ethnic or religious prejudice at once. Sutter has made me strongly allergic to a certain kind sick, manipulative, sociopathic behavior, whoever it comes from. I encourage people to see my above post on Sutter, post #329.

My m.o.? Why would I want King to jump to my tune? Why would I even expect him to jump to my tune ? Get a life!

I only accused you of being Sutter because your post #324 was very Sutteresque. It manages to attack many of the people on this thread maliciously. First you slander King as anti-Semitic, anti-Protestant, and you imply he's also a bigot against Muslims. Then you sarcastically imply the people on this thread have "given King a pass" because King, so you imply, is an anti-Muslim bigot. Thus you imply in a sly way that many people on this thread and in sympathy with this site are bigots against Muslims. Your semi-indirect, snide attack and implication of bigotry is very Sutteresque. Even if you are not Sutter, your post #324 earns you the right to be compared with him.

Now if Sutter had posted what you posted in #324 above, it would not have been because he was trying to make King jump to his tune. That's true enough. It would have been because Sutter was trying to manipulate visitors to this website and commenters here, slander the commenters and the site, make us look like bigots, provoke us, turn us inside out, and to be a general provocateur. Why the convicted felon and provocateur Sutter has allied himself with CAIR, and goes around in a sneaky mendacious way slandering sites like this one and people like Robert Spencer, as I point out in my post #329 above, is beyond my ken.

And now I see that your post #324 has been removed. Buh-bye.

“Unfortunately we have too many mosques in this country,”

He's right. Mosques are simply not the same as churches, synagogues or temples.

If mosques were just religious meeting places, I woud have no problem with them. However, as we have so often seen, they are often breeding grounds for idelogical indoctrination, where Imams incite hatred against Jews and Christians, and call for jihad.

The flames of Muslim rage are often cynically fanned on a Friday night at the local mosque. In the UK, mosques have nurtured terrorists, and fake passport and credit card scams have been run from their premises.

In the Middle East, there is nothing sacred about a mosque. If its your own, you can stash weapons in it, and if it's not your own you can bomb it.

Hell, Muslims kill each other in greater numbers; look at Darfur, much of Iraq, Algeria, etc., etc., etc.

Many Muslims also seem not to be too tolerant about the freedom of speech. Or other freedoms the West takes for granted, like the freedom of religion. Or non-religion. Or "uppity" women.

And this " troll " crap is so childish. Go look at Kos etc.. "your a troll" " no you're a troll "

Playground crap.

You're right. It was childish of me. For that, I apologize.

Aloysius will fill you in.

The Egyptian god Ra? Or British rule in India, aka, the Raj? Oh, the IRA. traeh, donations are taken at any Irish-style pub across the USA. Or simply buy a Harp or a Guinness. Or cheer for old Notre Dame; although, despite being a Husky, I cheer for Southern California over the Fighting Irish. I realize much of Husky Nation will find this blasphemous, but old S.C. is my second favorite team.

The calling cry of the American left, most frequently grouped in the coastal cities of the East and West coast, fed a consistent diet of worms words spoon fed by the NY and LA Times, reinforced by don't-think-for-yourself, Group-Think distributors: CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN.

Once again, if it's good for America, it's bad for the left. If it's good for America, it's bad for the left. Shout down all dissension. Shout down all dissension. Revert to name-calling; bigot and racist work well. Revert to name-calling; bigot and racist work well.

Here's the CAIR complaint....
Action Alert #517: NY Congressman Says 'Too Many Mosques' in U.S.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on Muslims and other people of conscience to ask Republican leaders to repudiate remarks by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) in which he said “we have too many mosques in this country.” CAIR also asked that Americans of all faiths contact Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani and urge him to drop King and commentator Daniel Pipes as campaign advisors because of their extremist and Islamophobic views and comments.

OK, where do I sign up to do the opposite, to encourage remarks such as the one by Rep. Peter King (R-NY) ?

"Cog" -

A bit more than a flub - and really surprising from Rep. King who is a generally sharp guy. Hope this blows over, and he doesn't get the LOTT Treatment.

"More Moslems came, and soon a small mosque was built, which attracted yet others. As long as Zoroastrians remained in the majority, their lives were tolerable; but once the Moslems became the more numerous, a petty but pervasive harassment was apt to develop. This was partly verbal, with taunts about fire-worship, and comments on how few Zoroastrians there were in the world, and how many Moslems, who must therefore posses the truth; and also on how many material advantages lay with Islam. The harassment was often also physical; boys fought, and gangs of youth waylaid and bullied individual Zoroastrians. They also diverted themselves by climbing into the local tower of silence and desecrating it, and they might even break into the fire-temple and seek to pollute or extinguish the sacred flame. Those with criminal leanings found too that a religious minority provided tempting opportunities for theft, pilfering from the open fields, and sometimes rape and arson. Those Zoroastrians who resisted all these pressures often preferred therefore in the end to sell out and move to some other place where their co-religionists were still relatively numerous, and they could live at peace; and so another village was lost to the old faith."

Where were they and why didn't they stop the waco massacre? Not to mention numerous other times when our government wasn't shy about storming religious compounds. Now,they two step around mosques and kiss the arse of the real enemies. They weren't shy about breaking into the house in florida where the little boy was seeking asylum from castro....

I don't know much about Peter King. But whatever else he is, not one of the mentioned anti's, is prone to cutting off my head for being an infidel or jew. So I will join his team any day. (and yeah, one mosque is one too many)

Being I WAS a Fred supporter..just a beat away from being a Rudy supporter, I m convinced now that Rudy is the only one that can beat Hillary. I'm not worried about Rudy and the gun control issue anymore, that part will never ever happen anyway. Just wish I knew who the NRA will throw their support behind. God help us all if the libs win.

RE: CAIR complaint
Rudy's going to use this just like he did the MoveOn.org ad. This plays well is his favour, the more they complain the better Rudy looks.

I'll second that. Be known by your enemies. In terms of the '08 election (among other terms), the left is the Republicans' enemy. If this pisses them off, then all the better!

The left is the enemy within. They hate America and will do whatever it takes to see us defeated.

When Muhammedans cry 'bigotry' you always know that you're doing the right thing.

Fact is that there is nothing more bigoted and hypocritical on this earth than the worshipers of the mad prophet pretender...
