Video: Obama Lavishes Praise on Rev. Jeremiah Wright

Sun, Mar 16, 2008 at 2:59:47 pm PDT

Here’s Barack Obama on June 5, 2007, at Hampton University, praising Rev. Jeremiah Wright in such an effusive way that it’s obvious they were personally very close. It strains credulity (snap! was that my credulity breaking?) to maintain that Obama has only recently become aware of Wright’s more “inflammatory” statements.

(Hat tip: NewsBusters.)

UPDATE at 3/16/08 3:02:38 pm:

Wow, that was fast. YouTube blitzed my short clip within minutes. The full video is here.

The big denial.....just like the big lie.

They still believe that if they tell it often enough and perhaps it will become the 'truth'.

Credibility is the key. When it comes to leadership and the perceived ability to lead - credibility is all that the people can hang their vote on. When credibility is lost (Kerry - 'Reporting for Duty') - the campaign is lost.

Classic. A big ol' OOPS with that speech. But it's racist for us to quote Obama on this. It's a black thang. We whitey, the real racists just wouldn't get it.

Obama's spinning his relationship to Wright just might the most entertaining thing on reality tv for the next few months.

What may be truly interesting in the next week or so, is if some reporter can place Obama in the church in early January of this year, when Rev. Wright said this:

Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill has been good to us. No he ain’t! Bill did us, just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty.

At that point, Trinity’s new, more moderate, replacement pastor, Otis Moss, III rose from his seat and patted Rev. Wright on the back.

An attack on Hillary and Bill Clinton, in which the new pastor rises from his seat, almost on cue, and pats the old pastor on the back. Seems somewhat staged to me. Was it for the benefit of Obama? Will Obama answer any questions relating to his church attendance?

71 godfrey  Sun, Mar 16, 2008 3:18:58pm

Is it possible to dumpstream a youtube video? It should be possible to grab these things immediately before they're pulled.

72 Noam Sayin'  Sun, Mar 16, 2008 3:19:13pm

From newsbusters:

As the speech kicked off (at 1:07 into the video), Obama introduced the Rev. Wright to the audience with these glowing and highly personal words:

And then I've got to give a special shout out to my Pastor. The guy who puts up with me, counsels me, listens to my wife complain about me. He's a friend and a great leader not just in Chicago but all across the country, so please everybody give an extraordinary welcome to my pastor Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr., Trinity United Church of Christ.

Where's he at? There he is. That's him, that's him right there.

You wearing a suit today, right?

This reveals a very intimate portrait of Obama and Wright's relationship. Notice the last bit where Obama jokes about Wright's penchant for wearing an Afrocentric style of dress and that his wearing of a suit at that event was uncommon. These are the remarks of a close friend to another loved intimate, not the words of a man making perfunctory comments.

Later in his comments Obama mentioned Wright again. (At 13:43 in the video)

You know, I've been on a journey trying to get at the truth that question for a long time. I mention Rev. Wright... I first met Rev. Wright when I moved to Chicago after college.

And that's where I met Rev. Wright and started going to Trinity United Church of Christ and he helped me on another journey and introduced me to someone named Jesus Christ. And I learned that my sins could be redeemed. I learned that those things that I was too weak to accomplish myself, maybe he could accomplish them for me if I placed my trust in him. And I learned that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when they believe in him and they come together and are guided by him.

So, we see that Obama obviously had a close, long-term relationship with Wright not a casual one where Obama might have missed the Reverend’s long-standing agenda.

Tom Maguire of 'Just One Minute' talks about some other Wright sermons he downloaded from the Church's website.

Key meme -

So, two points - In my opinion, for Wright to have said that 9/11 was America's chicken's coming home to roost was not out of the mainstream of kooky left-wing religious thought. But for Barack Obama to pretend that he was unaware of those comments suggests either that stuff like that was unremarkable and said all the time, or that Barack is lying.

Either answer does not reflect well on a candidate whose primary response is to obfuscate and spin.

He tells a story about a pregnant woman whose unborn baby was shot during the LA riots. He lauds the efforts to save the baby by the doctors who got the bullet out. He says that we have ignored the bigger problem - "We have not taken the bullet out".

It is ALWAYS the case: It's not the crime that does in a politician, it's the cover-up.

Obama's efforts to "cover-up" his association with (and knowledge of) Reverand Jeremiah Wright are now sinking his ship....

On a separate note ponder this: If Obama sinks and Hillary becomes the candidate, how in hell with DAILY KOS make up with the candidate they tried to destroy?

I've no idea. The Daily Kos already seems to be splitting apart over Obama and Hillary camps (an earlier thread here at LGF, thanks, Charles!). If Hillary is the winner, heads could be exploding at the home of the Kinky Kos Kidz (think Spitzer).

Quick remark about barack Obama and Hillary Clinton; These folks want to make the US exactly the way Europe is (less or no patriotism -eg no flag-; nanny state; big government; etc.) We all know that it did and does not work in Europe (look at their armies, R&D, universities, French "banlieus", etc.)

This is something that needs to be pointed out by the conservatives.

I am French and I can tell you that what makes the US so great, "magical" and powerful are the strength of the conservatives idea.

The "Rev." Wright is a liberation theologist, which is simply Marxist/Leninist dogma wrapped up in theological terminology. The guy is as racist and bigoted as the Grand Wizard of the KKK. Young people don't vote.

Heh Heh...Again I disagree... My daughter started voting the day she was old enough. She and I have talked about the other people her age, (she's 23 now), and she says that she is hearing that many of her college mates are registering like flies on honey. She states they are so turned off by the Bush administration..i.e. Iraq war for oil, all the leftist slant on the use of torture and etc. etc. etc. that she can't stand to talk to most of her classmates because they are indoctrinated by the liberal ideology espoused by their prof's.

I know I read that somewhere, or heard it somewhere, but since I usually don't watch the news on TV I figure I musta read it out here. In any event, does anyone remember this? Cause if it's true, I wonder if they're still available.

Oh, and as an aside, I DID watch the Chris Wallace show today and he reported that he had asked Obama to come on Fox for an interview and Obama said "sure, I'd love to" (this was, obviously, quite some time ago) and yet Obama has never replied to any of a multitude of requests from Wallace.
So Wallace is now keeping a running "Time clock" of how many hours, minutes and seconds since his last formal request for Obama to come in - or for Wallace to go to Obama - for an interview!

I think this is the problem with Jay's Potato Chips:

John Cox, a businessman from northern Illinois, aligns himself with Reagan Republicans. Therefore, he tends to favor such things as a missile defense shield, a ban on partial-birth abortions, and cutting taxes. He doesn’t have support from the GOP establishment, hasn’t gone into any great depth regarding his campaign issues, and claims as one of his greatest accomplishments rescuing the Jays Potato Chip company. Republicans who vote for him are favoring a conservative candidate who is independent from the party leadership. [Link: www.ilsenate.com...]

Presidential elections are usually pretty close, decided by a few points i.e, 51%-49% or 52%-48%. Very few landslides in recent history except for Reagan and Nixon. LBJ too.

Hillary's negatives hover around 50%, there's no way she'll win a general election.

Every time I see one of these, I sort of wonder what kind of reception an all while meeting of all white pastors of all white congregations would receive. The screams could be heard at the south pole. To be sure there are specific and special needs for pastors of inner city churches, but those churches include hispanic as well as white folks. I will grant that people will ethnically cluster in their associations, and so forth, but its about time after LBJ and MLK did their thing to start calling this stuff by the name that it deserves; raw racism.

Winston did not tailor his speeches for the local audience in the room.

I suspect that Ronald Reagan never did that either.

Yes, I would love to see Hillary as the nominee.
Presidential elections are usually pretty close, decided by a few points i.e, 51%-49% or 52%-48%. Very few landslides in recent history except for Reagan and Nixon. LBJ too.

Hillary's negatives hover around 50%, there's no way she'll win a general election.

The Democrats' problem is that they peaked too early. Now they are embarassing themselves. If the primary season was a little shorter one of them would have an excellent chance. Now, they are fighting with each other. Hillary is crying and pretending that she would know what to do at 3 in the morning. Barry is proving he is not ready for prime time and when something happens he gets quite flustered.

I am guessing that McCain's chances are growing and conservatives while not happy with McCain certainly see him as a far better choice than the other two.

Lemme get this straight...YouTube pulls this legally sound video clip showing the Obamessiah with his buddy, the (Wrong) Rev. Jeremiah Wright explains his worldview:
Bad stuff happens, not because of me, but because of y'all.

The devil comes to church, too. I tell the folks at my church all the time, "The devil ain't got no way to come to church except we bring him." He came with this man in verse 23. Don't you know that the devil will ride in your BMW, ride in your Mercedes Benz, get on public transportation right along with you, and when you get inside of the church, he'll break out all over the congregation. and you'll be wondering, "How did the devil get in the church?" He came with y'all. That's how.

McCain has a lot of good things on his resume...and a few bad. But the good things far outweigh the bad.

Several weeks ago the dems were ranting about how they had had such a good group to pick from in Iowa. In the case of the Republicans, I would say that is more true. Each of the candidates, with the possible exception of Ron Paul had good and bad points that bear out that they are human. Republicans could easily have picked Hunter, or Thompson, Tancredo or Brownback, and still would have had a candidate with many flaws. Reagan had flaws, Nixon had many flaws, both were good presidents. I said it before it doe not matter to me who the republicans select. I'm a registered dem for a reason, and its not because I'm liberal. Its more for the reason of why many dems voted in several states primaries, especially Michigan.
More on that some other time.

Instead, it was Obama speaking in Selma, Alabama on March 4, 2007, commemorating the 42nd anniversary of the "Bloody Sunday" civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery. What happened? Was that an incorrect link, or did cbs2chicago.com swap the video? I suspect I know the answer, but I gotta ask.

The people--relatively few, so far--who have had the courage to say that Obama is akin to Hitler are absolutely correct. It is not that Obama is calling for the power of the state to fall upon the unfavored--not exactly, anyway. It is that Obama serves as a blank mirror in which each person can see his or her own desires reflected, as Hitler reflected the desires of the Germans.

I've stayed away from the comparison. But yesterday when I saw the Obama "pent-up anger" comment I had to Google that phrase and Hitler because I was sure that was going to get some results. Didn't like what I saw but I kept my mouth shut.

As others mentioned, Juan Williams summed it up very well....there's been a trail about this couple since Michelle's comment saying this was the first time she was proud of her country.....and Obama's method of distancing him from Wright and saying he wasn't in church when all this was said was amateurish at best considering Wright's position as an adviser for the campaign and other projects in Obama, Inc.

The great thing about Williams' statement is it removes the shell of this being about Obama the black politician, and rests it properly in the realm of Obama the particularly dishonest politician - completely camouflaging his philosophy and approach to life for decades of his career for the purposes of a higher-profile campaign.

On another note, this is a nice reminder that the South Side Machine runs Chicago, Illinois, and the midwestern Democratic Party. We all just got a rare peek at the gears and pistons with this one.

Please, listen yourself.

380 Geepers  Sun, Mar 16, 2008 5:15:03pm

This from last year:

CHICAGO, March 20, 2007

At a recent Sunday service, following media coverage of Obama's last-minute decision not to have Wright speak at the senator's presidential announcement last month, Wright warned his flock not to believe any reports of a rift between him and the church's best-known member.

"Barack and I are fine," Wright, 65, on an out-of-state trip, said in a recorded message played to about 2,000 attendees. "The press is not to be trusted. ... Don't let somebody outside our camp divide us."

The erudite if blunt-speaking pastor also said Obama had apologized for withdrawing the invitation to speak at the Feb. 10 announcement in Springfield.

Obama had taken "some bad advice from some of his own campaign people who thought it would not be a good idea for me to be in front of the cameras on the day he announced," Wright said, adding that he and Obama had "moved on." Wright attended the announcement, but he did not speak.

"The senator appreciates the continued prayers of his pastor," [Obama campaign spokesman Bill] Burton said, adding in a statement that the invitation to Wright was withdrawn because Obama wanted to "avoid having statements and beliefs being used out of context and forcing the entire church to defend itself."

Why are these media outlets (utube/google and cbs2chicago) cutting their links to this video? What is it about the truth (i.e. what someone really did or said) that is considered unfair or hateful? It is one thing for the Obama compaign to clean its website of incrimination affiliations. It is quite another for the media to have a selective memory hole which scrubs any inciminating/impeaching Obama/Wright video within minutes of its relevance being noted. It is like there is a leftist shadow-government ministry of information. I just hope Rush will be all over this tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure he will be. re: #376 Fearless Fred

At minute #18 he refers to people's fears that because of things heard about Pastor Wright, maybe the church was black separatist. And this is from last June. Here's the speech. Next, at minute #22 he makes clear his idea that Bush and the administration are racist and wanted not to help New Orleans people.

Yeah, he's a real racist alright:

When President Bush came to power in 2001, the US spent $1.4bn a year on humanitarian and development aid in Africa. By 2006, the figure had quadrupled to $5.6bn a year. And it is likely to get bigger. The centrepiece of Mr Bush's aid to Africa is the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (Pepfar), a five-year, $15bn Aids prevention and treatment programme launched in 2003. His most recent budget proposes doubling the funding to $30bn over the next five years.

Despite rows over the programme's emphasis on abstinence and faithfulness to one partner rather than condoms to control Aids, it has helped to fund anti-retroviral (ARV) drugs for 1.3 million people across the continent. Before, the US funded ARV treatment for just 50,000 people.

Considering that the other choice is Hillary, he still has life in him. His conduct and that of Wright are common place in black congregations. Everything that goes wrong is the fault of whity.

My experience is undoubtedly tainted by living in the Moonbat Capital of the Universe, San Francisco. Here, the association with Rev. Wright is probably looked on with tenderness. BTW, the locals now have a new nic for McCain, they are calling him "McSAME". (as opposed to CHANGE)

No offense, but to the rest of us elsewhere in the US the attitudes, behaviours and opinions of the Moonbat Capital are so completely divorced from virtually anywhere else in the country as to be the culture of some alien society located on Mars - or perhaps deep within the bowels of hell itself.

Obama's mother was named Stanley because her father (Obama's grandfather), unable to have a son, settled on a daughter and gave her the boy's given name of Stanley.

This won't sink him. What WILL sink him is the charismatic aspect to his campaign.
Read an interesting article lately about an experiment undertaken by a prof. called Bob Jones in California in 1967, where he created for three days a willing participation by his students in an experiment to create a small fascist society. It was so successful that he freaked and called it off. A book on the experiment was a must read in Germany ( under their "never again" policy) called " The Wave "
A film, made in Germany won a prize at the Sundance Film Festival.( also called The Wave )
Obama's campaign is short on detail deliberately; he requires people to accept his campaign as a " home" where they " belong ".
When people wake up to this creepy stuff, there'll be a backlash against him.

ccording to one CBS2 Chicago news story I read obama still speaks in Indonesian tongues

[Link: cbs2chicago.com...]

by Mike Flannery
CHICAGO (CBS) %u2015 Before he has even one full term under his belt, Sen. Barack Obama has become one of the most famous members of the U.S. Senate. And on Saturday, at the age of 45, he's prepared to announce he's running for the highest office in the land.

CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery reports on the man behind the hype.

Having been born in Hawaii to a mother raised in Kansas and a father from East Africa, Obama has long addressed different audiences in different ways.

After the divorce of his parents, Obama's mother married a Muslim from Indonesia. They moved to Jakarta and for two years he attended a school with mandatory classes in the Koran. His younger sister, Maya Soetoro Ng, says he was a strong male presence in her life and that it was a happy time.

"Barack still speaks Indonesian, has a fondness for the country," Ng said in 2005.

Just in case you haven't been paying attention, let's recap the talking points, they're all true. Obama:

Is a socialist black separatist that hates America and dislikes whitey,

Is personal friends with domestic terrorists, unrepentant to this day, who bombed the Pentagon and several other buildings,

Is not a Muslim, but will surrender to them because he likes them better than Israel,

Paid for his Chicago property the same way Hillary paid for her cattle futures,

Will raise your taxes significantly which will, in turn, crush the equities markets,

Has more experience at drug use than governance, and

Will, with a Bonkey Senate, have activist judges to the left of Ruth Bader Ginsberg flying out the door.

Am I missing much?

Many on the left tried to down play my comment, but it was revealed that Oprah attends the same church as Barack Obama. Oprah never mentioned that part. I bet if she did people would have discovered what kind of church they both attend. Jeremiah Wright is the pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ. The COC is a very liberal denomination. I don't know what Jeremiah Wright's person spiritual hangups are, but he needs to realize that race doesn't trump the spirit or the soul. Race also doesn't play a factor in god's decision to allow a person's soul into heaven or cast them into hell. Jeremiah Wright cares more about praising the pigmentation of the flesh more so then praising god. If Barack has no problem with this man as his pastor, then Barack clearly shouldn't be President. So what do you all think of the man Barack Obama considers his "spiritual leader"?"

As a result, Louisiana suddenly has moved from a national ranking of 44 to among the best in the country (99 out of 100 points) regarding financial disclosure for public officials. The ranking was done by the Center for Public Integrity.

Moreover, Governor Jindal received favorable press from The New York Times. Uh-oh.

I weep for our nation when people are willing to stand in defense of someone whose rhetoric and message is reminiscent of Joseph Goebbels. We should never have gotten to this point -- how did we get to this point?

Obama's "hope" is a cynical and nauseating reprise of "Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer" and people have become so neutered by political correctness that they close their ears to it rather than have to think politically incorrect -- but morally and spiritually true -- thoughts.

re: #237

According to Jim Geraghty, Hillary's campaign is probably working on your questions:

Wright's church sells his sermons on video. You can get them on the web. It is tough to believe that the Clinton campaign doesn't have every video of every sermon they could get their hands on. It's also hard to believe that there isn't a single video with regular church member Barack Obama visible in the audience. (The excerpts I have seen have quite a few reaction shots from the flock.)

What are the odds that the Clinton team can find a video with Obama in the background, with Wright saying something controversial?

And what are the odds that if that video exists, it gets dropped on the press in the closing days before Pennsylvania?

(One Republican strategist told me this afternoon he cannot imagine that the Clinton camp doesn't already have something in this vein. This strategist is speculating, but he's been around the block a few times.)

If Hillary can't beat Obama with this kind of material to work with, she would never beat John McCain.

When Hal and Ginny, my inlaws, were stationed in Germany, he had to come back to the states for a school in Alabama. Since they flew into Philly, they decided to take Amtrak south. For that reason, he says never ride Amtrak.
They got on the train, and Ginny, being the ever prepared wife, had a picnic basket. so they decided to have a bite to eat. They'd no more then buttered the bread when a porter came up and told them meals MUST be consumed in the dining car. So they went to the dining car and had their sandwichs. after the meal, Hal wanted a drink. Ginny pulled out a bottle of good German wine and had no more then uncorked it when a porter came by and harshly told them alcohol had to be consumed in the bar car.
After a few glasses. Hal wanted a cigar, but as soon as it was lit, those pesky porters told him the train had a smoking lounge for such stuff. Exasperated, they transfered to a pullman when they stopped in Washington DC for a little hank panky. The train was no more then under way, they were just into the rack, and here came the pullman shouting Nofuck Virginia, Nofuck Virginia.

Well let's take a look at Trinity Chutch as an example. They, the racists, even now, blame Bush for exacerbating racial tension, yet Bush's record outshines Clinton's when considering administration appointments and the advancement of their so-called brothers. And add to that what Bush has done for Africa and yet they ignore his well received and triumphant tour of the homeland of their heritage.

They cling to victim hood and ignore what conservatives have done for them.

It was Lincoln (R) who took this nation to war against itself to free from slavery their ancestors. And it was the (D) who opposed civil rights. The racism that is displayed by those who claim victim hood is overwhelming and like you I am sick of it since the racists don;t want to escape the bonds of their victim hood and use past sins to advance the politics of that very victim hood.

It strains credulity (snap! was that my credulity breaking?) to maintain that Obama has only recently become aware of Wright’s more “inflammatory” statements.

This was posted last night.
An Israeli tourist in the USA is visiting the Bronx zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The Israeli runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the Israeli brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A reporter has seen the whole scene, and addressing the Israeli, says "Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen a man do in my whole life."
"Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right."
" Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's newspaper will have this on the first page. Where do you come from?"
"I am on vacation from Israel."
The journalist leaves. The following morning the Israeli buys the newspaper to see if it indeed brings news of his actions and reads, on first page:
TOURIST FROM ISRAEL ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH.

O.T.
[Link: www.jpost.com...]

From your linked story:

Though the attack was spontaneous, "this marks a serious escalation," a source familiar with the case told the Post. "This isn't a threatening letter, a stone through the window or an anonymous phone call."

This contradicts an earlier story (which I'd put in sidelinks): Canada: Muslims who filed complaints about Calgary imam victims of arson attack

Yesterday, one of the people claiming to be victims of ongoing violent attacks, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed, watched in horror as a car pulled up outside his Panatella Blvd. N.W. home and a man armed with a jerrycan and booze bottle got out, scaled the fence and set his home ablaze as seven children and three other adults slept.

Hours earlier, Ahmed had called 911 after two threatening men came to the door.

"I was so upset," said Ahmed, adding that's why he was still awake at about 4 a.m. when he saw the stranger set his home on fire.

Spontaneous attack? I don't think so. There's also a 2 hour discrepancy in these 2 reports for the time of the attack -- 2am vs 4am.

619 abolitionist  Sun, Mar 16, 2008 7:02:55pm

Also, it should be noted that the imam in this story is the same one that brought a complaint to the CHRC against Ezra Levant.

Spontaneous attack? I don't think so. There's also a 2 hour discrepancy in these 2 reports for the time of the attack -- 2am vs 4am.

That's because they are two separate incidents, though - right?

Why is it OK for BHO to talk about his faith in God?
GWB was vilified for his belief in God.
There is a severe double standard at play here.

re: #594 The Albatross

If Oprah's attendance at Trinity is in question, the quote in my #548
has a youtube vid of a Hannity & Colmes segmint with Wright... in it, Colmes slides in Oprah as an example of a variety of people who attend his church... He agrees.

Oprah goes there too.

So are these people offended by

and if not, why not?

I can actually see why an intelligent, self-secure Black American would no more than scoff at and never give it another thought, otoh, I would think most of the Oprah/Rev. Wright crowd would find this racial fawning highly offensive. Or do I have it backwards?

The firebomb attack involved 2 molotov cocktails; one started a fire outside, second went thru a window but bottle didn't break. Both stories refer to this one attack.

Because liberals don't allow their personal faith to impact their lives. That is how B Hussein O never heard the racist comments, it was a preacher, so in one ear, and out the other with no stops in between.

I think you are mistaken. Unless I'm really having serious problems with my reading comprehension, one is about an imam named Ahmed who lives in Calgary, and the other is an emissary of the Jewish Agency named Yossi who lives in Providence.

It'd also be how since liberals tend to be less faithful, they can call out the people who are supposed to be more faithful on "violations" of their faith.

The best thing about this year's crop of democrat candidates is this: the mainstream blue-collar democrats don't like or trust either of them! I have talked to at least ten life-long democrats who will not vote for either of them, and are gonna vote for McCain. These democrats have, in the past, been able to pretend that their party was still the party of Kennedy and Truman... now they have discovered that their party no longer wants them and has completely abandoned the tradesman/self-employed/small business owner segment of society.

Once they vote republican this election, many won't go back to the dems. The left wing of the democrats has marched so far to the left that the party cannot bridge the gap anymore... they're eventually going to have to cut loose one of those groups and stop pretending to care about them.

Reagan was elected in large part by Dems who switched. We are called reagan Democrats for that reason. I haven't been back, and neither have most of the ones I know even though many of us are still registered as dems.

I was mistaken. Upon seeing molotov cocktail attack, I skimmed the JPo article. However, in the Calgary story, the imam is Syed Soharwardy, and Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed was among those in the apartment attacked.

Peace.

I am waiting for video showing BHO in this "church" as this hate-spewing a**hole lets loose with some of his anti-US tirades. I'm sure it's out there.

BHO scares me. I've often thought that the Oval Office will feature a prayer rug facing mecca if we are stupid enough to elect him as POTUS.

NewsMax: Washington Insider with Ronald Kessler
Obama Attended Hate America Sermon
Sunday, March 16, 2008 7:14 PM

By: Ronald Kessler

Contrary to Senator Barack Obama’s claim that he never heard his pastor Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. preach hatred of America, Obama was in the pews last July 22 when the minister blamed the “white arrogance” of America’s Caucasian majority for the world’s suffering, especially the oppression of blacks.
Senator Obama has sought to separate himself from his pastor’s incendiary remarks, issuing a statement Friday rejecting them as “inflammatory and appalling” but failing to renounce Wright himself for his venomous and paranoid denunciations of America.
In his press release, Obama claimed, “The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity [United Church of Christ] or heard him utter in private conversation.”
Appearing on cable news shows this past weekend, Obama claimed when he saw recent videos that have Wright making such comments as “God damn America,” he was “shocked.” Obama implied that the reverend had not used such derogatory language in any of the church services Obama attended over the past two decades.
If Obama’s claims are true that he was completely unaware that Wright’s trademark preaching style at the Trinity United Church of Christ has targeted “white” America and Israel, he would have been one of the few people in Chicago to be so uninformed. Wright’s reputation for spewing hate is well known.
In fact, Obama was present in the South Side Chicago church on July 22 last year when Jim Davis, a freelance correspondent for Newsmax, attended services along with Obama. [See: ”Obama’s Church: Cauldron of Division.”]
In his sermon that day, Wright tore into America, referring to the “United States of White America” and lacing his sermon with expletives as Obama listened. Hearing Wright’s attacks on his own country, Obama had the opportunity to walk out, but Davis said the senator sat in his pew and nodded in agreement.
Addressing the Iraq war, Wright thundered, “Young African-American men” were “dying for nothing.” The “illegal war,” he shouted, was “based on Bush’s lies” and is being “fought for oil money.”
Obama’s most famous celebrity backer, Oprah Winfrey began attending Wright’s church in 1984. Last year, Newsmax magazine reported that Winfrey abruptly stopped attending years ago, and suggested that she did so to distance herself from Wright’s inflammatory rhetoric. She soon found herself a target of Wright, who excoriated her for having broken with “traditional faith.”
The Reverend Wright’s anti-white theology that Senator Obama expressed surprise over is evident on the church’s website. The site says the congregation subscribes to what it calls the Black Value System, which is described as a disavowal of “our racist competitive society” and the pursuit of “middle-classness.” That is defined as a way for American society to “snare” blacks rather than “killing them off directly” or “placing them in concentration camps,” just as the country structures “an economic environment that induces captive youth to fill the jails and prisons.”
“In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01,” Wright wrote in the church-affiliated magazine Trumpet four years after the attacks. “White America and the western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just ‘disappeared’ as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns.”

This is on the NewsMax website.

YouTube didn’t pull the clip, despite the dire red warning banner; it’s showing up now.

I've run across something about YouTube that a quick experiment seemed to verify. Although I have not been able to get confirmation, this is what I think is the case:

YouTube keeps the most recently played videos in a huge "cache" it set up for quicker delivery of content.

If you embed a YouTube video, rather than simply link it, and get a "no longer available" message or the clip simply stops playing, it is because the video has apparently swapped out of their main cache. If you go directly to their site and play the same video, it should play without problems (because at their site, of course, if it is not in cache it gets loaded into cache). And if you then try to play the "embed" video (before it swaps out of main cache again, of course) the "no longer available" message should disappear.

I'm assuming they're doing this to keep from being swamped by "embed" videos since that is becoming the most popular format at websites. From what I understand, the number of embedded links to YouTube videos is mushrooming by the hour.

I’ve been following the Rev. Jeremiah Wright/Obama spectacle on TV and the blogs. It prompted me to share my views about discrimination and separation from others. Discrimination and separation are not really bad things. However, so many folks possess those views for all the wrong reasons. I admit to being discriminating. I would rather have a nice Riesling wine over that which comes in a 5 liter box. I would rather eat my own macaroni and cheese before I ate that which comes in the blue box. I’d sooner read LGF than DailyKos. I prefer C-Span to The Jerry Springer Show. And I think that kind of discrimination is okay.

I have been known to separate myself from others. But unlike some, I will separate myself based upon character, class and good values, rather than race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, politics, personal appearance, age, or wealth, etc. Rev. Wright seems to have missed that idea in his sermons, Biblical scholarly studies, and writings. Shame on him. And the new Messiah (not) Obama seems to have been all ears to listen to that.

Rev. Wright wants to bring up all the past sins of some American white people that happened years ago as the basis for his own personal crusade for social justice today and keep stirring the pot of resentment from his pulpit. Well, I didn’t do any of that stuff years ago. I can’t recall any one of my antecedents who did either. I’m sure there are some in our family cemeteries that may have pulled off something not quite nice. But not me. And Rev. Wright should beware because, as my old friend would say, “If you stir up old sh*t, it still stinks”. And finally, I would ask of Rev. Wright, “How come it is that you have the audacity to speak for the Almighty, when it clearly is forbidden in the Ten Commandments?” It says there that we shouldn’t take the name of God in vain. How can someone, who claims to have humility before the Almighty, curse, in the name of Him, the only country that gives him the privilege to speak and influence others? I would ask of Obama, “How come it is that you bought into and praised all Rev. Wright’s spiritual abilities for all those years?”

Just Grandma’s $.02, and if I had another $3.11, I’d buy me a gallon of gas. Have a nice day.
