Hamas Murders Human Rights Worker

Middle East • Views: 3,800

The goons of Hamas have murdered a Palestinian human rights activist for “collaborating” with Israel—and he’s just one of dozens of people they’ve slaughtered since Operation Cast Lead: Hamas executes former B’tselem field worker.

A Palestinian human rights activist and journalist who used to work for the Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem has been executed by Hamas on charges of “collaboration” with Israel, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip said over the weekend.

They identified the man as Haidar Ghanem, 46, of Rafah.

They pointed out that Ghanem, who was a field researcher for B’Tselem, had been sentenced to death by a Palestinian Authority court in 2002 after being found guilty of passing on information to Israel that later resulted in the elimination of Fatah gunmen.

Ghanem, according to the Palestinians, was among dozens of suspected “collaborators” who were executed by Hamas during Operation Cast Lead.

The international left continues to support this group of murderers, even as they kill people who work for the international left.

Wow. B’Tselem is rabidly anti-Israel and often invents conspiracy theories to cover for Palestinians terrorism. IIRC they invented the story that one of the early IDF airtstike videos was of a man loading gas canisters into his car instead of Qassam rockets.

24 lawhawk  Tue, Jan 27, 2009 9:07:11am

This is yet another message sent to those who might support Fatah or want to see Hamas ousted from Gaza; anyone who opposes Hamas will face execution should they be caught. It's incentive not to act against Hamas.

Gaza is a prison of Hamas' own making and design. They control all aspects and everything that happens there is with the goal of jihad in mind.

"(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/22/09) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today commended President Obama on his choice of former senator George Mitchell as special envoy to the Middle East.

Considered a “diplomatic heavyweight,” Mitchell is perhaps best known for negotiating a cease-fire and power-sharing agreements between warring Catholic and Protestant factions in Northern Ireland in the late 1990s.

A statement from B’Tselem....

26 Jan. '09: Extra-judicial execution of alleged collaborators by Hamas

According to several media reports, since the start of the Israeli attack in Gaza, Hamas has executed an unknown number of residents of Gaza that it considered to be collaborators with Israel. According to these reports, some of those murdered were of people in Hamas detention centers, and others fled the central Gaza prison, which was bombed by Israel. The allegations of collaboration pertained to the passing of information to Israel, and to past collaboration with Israel.

In light of the current circumstances in the Gaza Strip, B’Tselem cannot investigate fully these reports, or provide the exact number of the people killed in these events, or their identity. However, international humanitarian law expressly prohibits any state or organization from performing extra-judicial executions. These acts are grave breaches of international law, and all those involved in carrying them out bear individual criminal responsibility for these actions.

NOT a good sign.

Watch Mitchel try to get the Israelis to agree to withdraw from all "occupied territory". Then, even if they withdraw to 1967 borders, the Palis won't stop terrorism, because to them, if one Jew has just enough room to stand up in the land of Israel, that would be "occupied territory".

From hearing Lefties speak about terrorism on NPR, they all believe Islamist terrorism is identical to Irish IRA terrorism. They have a "We handled the IRA, we'll handle al Queda" attitude. They completely dismiss the fact that the religions and worldviews of the IRA and Islamist terrorists are completely different. In their minds, religion (which is the ideology through which people see the world, and the most important motivator of all) cannot possibly be a motivator for terrorists; it's just impossible.

President Carter: Hamas can be trusted

Published: 01.26.09, 16:05 / Israel News

Former US President Jimmy Carter said in an interview to NBC that a one-state solution would be a disaster for Israel, and the two-state solution, that everyone supports, is right.

Carter continued to say there is no way to make peace without Hamas' involvement, and that, as someone who has had two opportunities to meet with Hamas heads, he felt the organization could be trusted. Carter added that Hamas was willing to accept any Fateh agreement with Israel that would be approved by a referendum. (Yitzhak Benhorin)

UN General Assembly President Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann did not attend the UN service marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

D'Escoto is known for his harsh criticism of Israel. His decision was reportedly made following the request of several Jewish groups in the US. The service began with a moment of silence.

Why can't this animated corpse (Carter) just fade away into obscurity where he belongs? The man is obviously senile.

And I think Mitchel thinks the same thing.

122 lostlakehiker  Tue, Jan 27, 2009 9:26:42am
The PA state security court had sentenced Ghanem, a father of two, after holding only two brief sessions. He was convicted of helping Israel kill four Fatah activists in Rafah.

Ghanem pleaded guilty to collaborating, but denied responsibility for the killings. He told the court that he did not know that Israel would use the information to kill the activists.

One never knows whether these executions are just for show, meant to frighten rather than instruct. But IF Ghanem really did give Israel information that was used to kill activists Fatah gunmen, then killing him would be part of war, and not exactly murder. In war, people who live amongst you but help your enemy go by the words spy and traitor. The spy and traitor from the point of view of one side may be a national hero from the point of view of the other side, of history, and of dispassionate truth [Nathan Hale, say], but that cuts no ice with the guys he's working against.

There are so many impeccable grounds for criticizing Hamas. There is no moral difficulty, no need to parse the thing and think twice, when they set up mortars in schoolyards and fire away, or commandeer ambulances, or kill children just to set up TV shots where the deaths can be blamed on Israel.

Why stretch, and make the killing of somebody who'd been sentenced to death for treason by a court of sorts into Exhibit A in the wickedness of Hamas?

re: #54 Kosh's Shadow

NOT a good sign.

Watch Mitchel try to get the Israelis to agree to withdraw from all "occupied territory". Then, even if they withdraw to 1967 borders, the Palis won't stop terrorism, because to them, if one Jew has just enough room to stand up in the land of Israel, that would be "occupied territory".

THERE IS NO STEROID PROBLEM IS GAZA.

Clinton: Israel has the right to defend itself

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that Israel had a right to defend itself and that Palestinian rocket attacks on the Jewish territory could not go unanswered.

"We support Israel's right to self-defense. The (Palestinian) rocket barrages which are getting closer and closer to populated areas (in Israel) cannot go unanswered," Clinton said in her first news conference at the State Department.

"It is regrettable that the Hamas leadership apparently believes that it is in their interest to provoke the right of self-defense instead of building a better future for the people of Gaza," she added.

If he was sentenced to death by Hamas 8 year ago, why would he not leave the area?

This man was murdered without any form or process. There is NO rule of law there, despite what the Palestinian press would tell us.

Hamas has (from the start) taken power the old fashioned way. They only won that last election because of threats, and violence. And they keep power in Gaza by killing, crippling, and throwing opposition off of roof tops.

There is NO RULE OF LAW in Gaza. Hamas is running wild, and killing on whim. they have done it before and they do it again.

AND every Pal they kill shows up in the "Palestinians Killed since Hamas took power" column and everyone just assumes they were "killed" by Israel.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that Israel had a right to defend itself and that Palestinian rocket attacks on the Jewish territory could not go unanswered.

"We support Israel's right to self-defense.

How nice of the State Department to agree that Israel has a "right to defend itself" and it's citizens.
Like it needs the US permission to defend itself.

Go stick it up your collective asses. Israel does not need the the damn State Department's approval to defend itself.

Well, while I totally agree with your point that Israel doesn't need State's approval to defend itself, I kind of glad Hillary didn't come out with a statement counseling Israel to "use restraint." (Of course, that may come soon, but I'm a glass half full kinda guy.0

He was sentenced to death in 2002, do you think that his appeals just ran out? Do you think he was given a fair trial? Did he know anything he said would be held against him?

Yep- never in the headline is it. . .

A lady awoke one morning and discovered her dog was not moving. She called her vet who asked her to bring the dog in. After a brief examination, the vet pronounced the dog dead.

"Are you sure?", the distraught woman asked. "He was a great family pet. Isn't there anything else you can do?"

The vet paused for a moment and said, "There is one more thing we can do." He left the room for a moment and came back carrying a large cage with a cat in it. The vet opened the cage door and the cat walked over to the dog. The cat sniffed the dog from head to toe and walked back to the cage.

"Well, that confirms it." the vet announced. "Your dog is dead."

Satisfied that the vet had done everything he possibly could, the woman sighed, "How much do I owe you?"

"That will be $330." the vet replied.

"I don't believe it!", screamed the woman. "What did you do that cost $330!?

"Well", the vet replied, "it's $30 for the office visit and $300 for the cat scan."

It's a good point, which makes it all the more remarkable that it seems that more than a few Gazans are willing to speak out and give lie to the mantra that Israel's self-defense has only "strengthened the extremists."

A man comes home one day to find a bear on the roof of his house. He is not sure what to do so he calls an exterminator. He asks the exterminator if he can get rid of a bear on the roof of his house. The man says yes and that he will be right over.

When the exterminator gets there he takes a few things out of his truck: a ladder, a stick, a shotgun and a Pit-Bull. He hands the shotgun to the homeowner and says, "OK, I am going to use the ladder to get up on the roof, and then I will use the stick to try and knock the bear off the roof. When there bear lands on the ground the dog will rip his b*lls off, and the bear will run away."

The homeowner say "Alright. But what is the shotgun for?"

The exterminator says "If the bear knocks me off the roof, I want you to shoot the dog."

The commentator also wrongly describes some American soldiers in the footage he shows as "having been fighting the Jews only recently."

Also prior to that, a soldier standing next to a child who is "awaiting his turn" (to be killed, you see, as just revenge for attacking the Germans... gah); also a US soldier, not German.

OT: Ten Things You Can Do To Save The Planet
A go-green guide for the Hollywood community
by Iowahawk

1. Reduce Water Consumption. One single dripping faucet or flushed bidet may not seem to be much of an environmental threat, but those numbers really add up when you’re hosting an NRDC fundraiser for Laurie David and all 10 of your bathrooms are in use. When possible, encourage guests to pee in the pool, and remind them that “if it’s yellow, let it mellow.” Unless you’re serving asparagus canapes.

2. “Green Begins At Home.” Whether you live in East Hampton or Topanga Canyon, there are dozens of little things you can do around your compound to reduce your carbon footprint. For instance, tell your groundskeeping crew to plant a tree. Save your leftover foie gras to grow your own homemade organic Botox. Turn off your energy wasting security cameras between 1 AM and 7 AM. If you own a vanity cattle ranch in Montana, email the trail boss and tell him/her to add Beano to your herd’s feed to reduce ozone-depleting methane emissions.

Read the whole thing.

the neighbor is sitting on his porch and seems friendly and invites the city guy to a party on Saturday night.
The city guy seems interested and asks what they'll be doing.
The neighbor says:
First we'll be doin' a lot of eatin' and drinkin'
City guy says 'that sounds fun'
Neighbor says 'then there'll be some fussin and some fightin'
City guy says ' Oh, I don't know about that. I don't like fighting'.
neighbor says; 'then we'll finish up with some kissin and some lovin'
The city guy says that that parts fine with him.
then the city guy asks who's going to be at the party and the neighbor says "oh, just you and me"

Israel's Holocaust museum reaches out to Muslims

An exhibition on Albanian Muslims who sheltered Jews during World War II opened in this mixed Jewish-Arab town on Tuesday to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, but the event was overshadowed by tensions from Israel's offensive in the Gaza Strip.

It was the first time that Yad Vashem, Israel's national Holocaust memorial, has hosted a standing exhibition in Hebrew and Arabic. Holding the event in Ramle, a working-class town where thousands of Arabs live alongside Jews, underscored the organizers' goal of improving relations.

Some 20 Arab high school students toured the exhibition, confronted by a picture of strewn corpses in Bergen-Belsen concentration camp and then of black-and-white photographs of Albanian Muslims who sheltered Jews.

The farmer proceeds to give the man very long and detailed directions. After writing everything down and making sure that he hasn't missed anything, the man thanks the farmer and heads off.

The man follows the directions to the tee, and after driving for about an hour he is shocked to find himself coming up on the same old farmer standing by the road. The man stops and says, "I don't understand it. I followed your directions exactly, and now I find myself right back where I started."

It is interesting that the first thing that the Hamas investigation into how their military responded to the Israelis was to kill the first guy they talk to about it. Hamas: Oh, you must've collaborated, because your still alive. Death to you!
International Media: This just in Hamas investigation widens to the two guys on the left of the collaborator they just executed to find out why they are still alive after the Israeli invasion. More the follow, unless it's not flattering to Hamas.

344 quickjustice  Tue, Jan 27, 2009 12:54:38pm

It's appropriate to point out that Iraq Ba'ath Party, ousted when Saddam Hussein was overthrown by the U.S. invasion, was founded by the Gestapo in 1943 to combat British influence in the Middle East in favor of the Nazis, as were other Ba'ath Arab nationalist parties. The Haj of Jerusalem, Arafat's uncle back in the 1930s, was a close associate of Adolf Hitler's.

There's a strong Nazi influence that remains embedded within certain strains of Arab nationalism and extremist Islam. This guy is manifesting that toxic Nazi ideology, which we never entirely wiped out.

Barack Obama has demonstrated that either he doesn't get this at all, or he doesn't care. His carefully parsed "Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus-- and atheists" reverses the traditional "Christians and Jews, Muslims and Hindus" pairing in American political oratory. Is there a large significance to this? Obama will keep us guessing for a while.
