I cannot think of a suitable word to identify a person who would murder an innocent man in such a despicable fashion in order to make a political statement. I feel so sorry for this man, for his family, and for all of us who are driven to absolute revulsion by this senseless murder. Media-sponsored asymmetry in action.

If the Poles somehow managed to capture the 60 Talibeasts whose release was demanded, stood them against a wall, and shot them; their fellow Islamists would see that hostage-taking is not only useless but actually counter-productive.

There would also be a worldwide outcry, not against the Taliban savages, but against the Polish authorities.

The people of Poland may be our best allies in Europe. They have lived under tyranny (nazis, soviets) as recently as the 1980s and know who the good guys are. I just hope Obama doesn't throw them under the bus in the name of mollifying other European countries like fwance.

May the family of Mr Stanczak find peace. And may his killers and their supporters find themselves on the receiving end of Poland's wrath.

Wonderful memorial comment, RemeberTonyC. Poland will be defended! I pledge my sweat on it. And if I'm lucky I can pledge my blood for Poland.

Not to mention the fact that the Poles have a history that goes back to the Middle Ages and Renaissance of fighting Muslim expansionism -and winning.
