Hey Hoops!! The game was a ball breaker alright, but, just a game. I cannot believe the reaction! It is a bit over the top. They had a 50/50 shot, had they made it, they would have been world beaters. The outrage over a football play, I find vastly amusing! (And I am a die hard Pats fan!)

Biden Security Detail In Car Crash In New York
According to NBC New York, three advance NYPD vehicles "were moving down 49th Street near 10th Avenue when they slammed into the back of a livery cab."
Reports vary on whether Biden was in the motorcade at the time, with the New York Post claiming he was and NBC New York reporting that he was not.
Reached for comment, an NYPD detective said that three people were injured in the collision.
This is the third car accident involving Biden's motorcade or security detail in less than a week.

Bibi utters a "fuck you" to BHO.
The Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth said U.S. President Barack Obama's envoy, George Mitchell, had asked an aide to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, at a meeting in London on Monday, to block the proposed construction at the settlement of Gilo.
But a government planning commission approved the addition of 900 housing units at Gilo, where 40,000 Israelis already live.
The Israeli decision drew an unusually sharply worded rebuke from the White House, which said it was "dismayed" and accused Israel of undermining Obama's efforts to resume peace talks with Palestinians stalled since December.

BEIJING - President Barack Obama, with China's leader at his side, lifted his sights Tuesday for a broad accord at next month's climate conference that he said will lead to immediate action and "rally the world" toward a solution on global warming.
Obama and President Hu Jintao talked of a joint desire to tackle climate change, but failed to publicly address the root problems that could unravel a deal at the 192-nation conference in Copenhagen: how much each country can contribute to curb greenhouse gases and how the world will pay the billions of dollars needed to fight rising temperatures.

NY ex-lawyer ordered to prison in terror case
NEW YORK – A federal appeals court on Tuesday upheld the conviction of a disbarred civil rights lawyer and ordered her to begin serving her sentence while a judge reconsiders whether he was too lenient in giving her more than two years in prison for passing information between suspected terrorists.
Lynne Stewart, 70, has been free on appeal since she was sentenced in 2006. The three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued its nearly 200-page ruling almost two years after hearing arguments in the case.
Heh.

No, it certainly doesn't get old. Stewart should look forward to spending the rest of her life in prison; 28 months is going to be the low end of what should be a very long stay in Club Fed. She was looking at 30 years, and the appeals court said that the trial court was way too lenient in giving her what amounted to a slap on the wrist for not only helping a terrorist, but lying to the courts - as an officer of the court no less.
Throw the book at her, not a slap on the wrist.

YOU'RE A FLIPPIN' LIAR! LIAR!
The list of ingredients of a Twinkie is a veritable Who's Who of the food chemical world and the following is a list of ingredients as provided on a ten-pack of Twinkies. Take a deep breath:
* Enriched Wheat Flour - enriched with ferrous sulphate (iron), B vitamins (niacin, thiamine mononitrate [B1], ribofavin [B12] and folic acid).
* Sugar
* Corn syrup
* Water
* High fructose corn syrup
* Vegetable and/or animal shortening - containing one or more of partially hydrogenated soybean, cottonseed or canola oil, and beef fat.
* Dextrose
* Whole eggs
How's your stomach? Really? Oh dear... Well hold tight because Twinkies also contain 2% or less of:
* Modified corn starch
* Cellulose gum
* Whey
* Leavenings (sodium acid pyrophosphate, baking soda, monocalcium phosphate)
* Salt
* Cornstarch
* Corn flour
* Corn syrup solids
* Mono and diglycerides
* Soy lecithin
* Polysorbate 60
* Dextrin
* Calcium caseinate
* Sodium stearol lactylate
* Wheat gluten
* Calcium sulphate
* Natural and artificial flavours
* Caramel colour
* Sorbic acid (to retain freshness)
* Colour added (yellow 5, red 40)

Winston Zeddemore: What do you mean, big?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's reading, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.
Winston Zeddemore: That's a big Twinkie.

Fans in Sarah Palin's home state turned out as early as possible Tuesday to snap up copies of her highly anticipated memoir. [...]
Cheezem said he's hoping some of that regional connection spills over to people buying the book from his store — at the full $28.99 price. By Tuesday morning, 32 copies of his 100-book shipment had been pre-ordered and by late morning another 21 copies had been sold over the counter.

Top Obama donor and fundraiser Jodie Evans met with the Taliban in Afghanistan on a recent trip there, according to a report by Jane Fonda of a discussion she had with Evans last month. The meeting with the Taliban took place just weeks before Evans was videotaped directly handing to President Barack Obama a package of information about her trip to Afghanistan at a high dollar fundraiser in San Francisco.
The meeting with the Taliban was kept secret by Evans and her group Code Pink in reports she and the group posted from Kabul and in interviews with the media and bloggers about the trip. Fonda, a close friend of Evans, let the secret meeting slip in an account of her dinner with Evans at a fundraiser for the Armand Hammer Museum in Los Angeles:
Last Saturday, My dear friends Jodie Evans and Max Palevsky, invited Richard and me to join them at their table at a fundraiser at the Armand Hammer Museum in Westwood. It was a good evening for lots of reasons. I had never been to the museum and definitely want to go back. Clearly it is a courageous place, very cutting edge. Then, too, I saw lots of friends I hadn’t seen in a long time and I sat next to Jodie who told me a little about her recent trip to Afghanistan with an American delegation that included a retired colonel, and member the State Department (Army Reserves Col. (Ret.) and ex-diplomat Ann Wright). While there, she met with people ranging from the brother of President Karzai, Afghan members of Parliament, activists, to warlords and members of the Taliban (emphasis added.) Jodie is co-founder of the peace organization, Code Pink, and always willing to go to any lengths to try and find out what’s really going on. Bottom line: everyone she met with wants the U.S. Military out of their country. They feel our presence there has brought more violence rather than security. Please read a short article she wrote about the trip which is on the Women’s Media Center website.

Ex-SS trooper Adolf Storms charged over mass shooting of Jews
A 90-year-old former member of an elite Waffen SS unit has been charged with killing 58 Hungarian Jews who were forced to kneel beside an open pit before being shot and tumbling into their mass grave.
The man, named in the German press as Adolf Storms, becomes the latest pensioner to be prosecuted for alleged Nazi war crimes as courts rush to secure convictions before the defendants become too infirm and the witness testimony too unreliable.
Mr Storms was found by accident last year, as part of a research project by Andreas Forster, a 28-year-old student at the University of Vienna.
The case against him was led by Ulrich Maass who is also the prosecutor in the trial of Heinrich Boere, 88, who is accused of shooting three Dutch resistance fighters.

Hanoi Jane: Once a traitorous America-hating bitch, always a traitorous America-hating bitch. She should be arrested alongside the
peacesurrender advocates who met with Taliban and the whole lot of them tried for treason.
I always regarded her as just extra covered up with stupid, rather than having fully embraced a particularly treasonous stance. I mean, what she said and did (and does) might be real easy for even me to call treasonous, but I really think she's just plain old garden variety every- day too stupid to really know WTF she really does anything for... the hard to imagine how she gets through the day kind of stupid...

Speaking of Chinese owning the Capital... I had a dream last night, a terrible dream...
the Government had somehow invited the Chinese military over for a parade, and there they were, marching down one of those famous long boulevards in Washington D.C. and they stretched back as far as the eye could see and there were American men running from the street back to their homes and back again to the parade route, only now armed with rifles.
A man next to me asked what I thought and I told him that the worst war our nation had ever seen in was about to start and he said "That is true" and then, the shooting started and Chinese fell in piles, but they just kept coming.
I woke up at 4am because of it...

Video: Bombproof Wallpaper vs. a Wrecking Ball
To put the X-Flex bombproof wallpaper to the test, we substituted a wrecking ball for an explosion. With no wallpaper, test walls crumbled on the first hit. With X-Flex on the backside, we literally could not bring the walls down. The material stretched to contain brick fragments trying to blast into the room and bounced right back. —Theodore Gray

Agreed on that point, but trying these bastards in federal court is still a grave mistake.
Interesting related article:
How thinking of terrorists as pirates can help win the war on terror.
there are immediate benefits to pointing out that terrorism has a precedent in piracy. In the short term, it is a tool to cut the Gordian knot of definition that has hampered antiterrorist legislation for 40 years. In the long term, and far more important, it provides the parameters by which to understand this current and intense conflict and the means within which it may one day be resolved. That resolution will begin with the recognition among nations that terrorism is a threat to all states and to all persons, the same recognition given to piracy in 1856. Terrorists, like pirates, must be given their proper status in law: hostis humani generis, enemies of the human race.

If the government requests discovery under subdivision (b)(1)(C)(ii) and the defendant complies, the government must, at the defendant's request, give to the defendant a written summary of testimony that the government intends to use under Rules 702, 703, or 705 of the Federal Rules of Evidence as evidence at trial on the issue of the defendant's mental condition. The summary provided under this subparagraph must describe the witness's opinions, the bases and reasons for those opinions, and the witness's qualifications.

(b) After a witness called by the United States has testified on direct examination, the court shall, on motion of the defendant, order the United States to produce any statement (as hereinafter defined) of the witness in the possession of the United States which relates to the subject matter as to which the witness has testified. Yeah, and it goes further:
(d) If the United States elects not to comply with an order of the court under subsection (b) or (c) hereof to deliver to the defendant any such statement, or such portion thereof as the court may direct, the court shall strike from the record the testimony of the witness, and the trial shall proceed unless the court in its discretion shall determine that the interests of justice require that a mistrial be declared.
Sounds like the first task for the defense would be to get "witnesses" relevant to the case. Considering the intelligence implications it actually sounds easy for them to create a stalemate.

They're not summits. They're global short-term bursts of economic stimulation. Or something.

Or something. Sounds about right. Reminds me of when I once hooked up with someone I knew trying to create a "non profit." Sounded like a scam from the onset and she drove me nuts that I finally "quit."
I think world summits are the global version of city council meetings. Ironically city councils are more productive.

Stimulus! Don't remind me. 10 million dollars in Denver for 6.65 jobs. What a joke. With 10 million dollars I could have at least created 10 millionaires.

Hey it only cost $780,000 to create 29 jobs in Nevada district 15.
(too bad Nevada doesn't actually have a district 15)

Yeah, but at least they let people know. It show that they are truly being transparent.

They're transparent all right.

Any time you see the word "Trade" as in trade summit or trade talks what it really means is "We are going to party our asses off on your dime."

It's like the public sector version of the convention circuit. Only it's on the public dime and accomplishes little. People on both sides of the political spectrum even acknowledge that. The only ones that defend it are the professional politicians. Even if we look at the World Bank where it's nothing but defaults and delays. The result isn't even loans. They're grants to nowhere.

Well asphalt is made with oil, and oil is really expensive...

Coming back to Florida from Alaska was a real eye opener, up there they can only work about 5 months out of the year, yet they get three times as much done. I talked with someone in the business here and he admitted it was corrupt as all hell, kickbacks, overinflated rigged bids, the whole works. He said a few honest people had tried to break into the business over the years but that the existing contractors would band up to underbid them. Once the new guy was run out of business they would all go back to business as usual.

It's a joke and no one cares. Look at the 300 million for 7 miles of road. Money means nothing to them apparently. There's even one for 110 million to reclad a building facade. Must be a large building.
Or in Dallas/Fort Worth:
An additional $500 million in funding is available to the state's metropolitan planning organizations for use at their discretion.

I didn't check but I doubt it. Most of the money will go to "management" and on an aside grafting because that's how it's done. The majority of the projects are on federal buildings anyway. The balance of the so called stimulus is going to roads and bridges. The firms that do get the contracts milk it for what it's worth. Again, because that's how it's done. If they need to dig a hole you need four people. One man to dig the hole and 3 to watch.

VP briefed on flawed jobs stats
Vice President Joe Biden has asked officials tasked with overseeing the stimulus-tracking website Recovery.gov to correct statistics suggesting Recovery Act funds had been sent to nonexistent congressional districts, according to a spokesman.
Biden, whom President Obama asked to perform an oversight role as "sheriff" of the stimulus program, was briefed Tuesday on reports of flawed job-creation numbers.
"He thinks it is a relatively small problem involving a small number of jobs that exist, but which were entered into Recovery.gov with the wrong coding and therefore the wrong address," Biden spokesman Jay Carney said in an email. "He expects the problem will be fixed quickly."
...
Yeah, fixed quickly. There's nothing wrong with the stats. It's all flawed just like the stimulus program was flawed. Leave it alone. It reflects relaity.
